We just had the MOST FABULOUS wedding at the Kea Lani in March 2022. We had about 160 people (all from out of state), and the whole event was absolutely flawless because of our amazing wedding planner, MaryAnn Blanchard. There are simply not enough words to describe how priceless and perfect MaryAnn is. From her positivity to her energy to her creativity to her relationships with vendors….everything about her is simply fabulous. She catered to all of our needs and totally understood our vision (even before we had our vision). MaryAnn went above and beyond to ensure that we didn’t worry about a single thing during our wedding. Countless guests told us that our wedding was the best day of their lives. We never knew planning a wedding could be so “easy,” “stress free,” and “problem free”—and we really owe that all to MaryAnn, who has become a close friend after the past year of planning our wedding. Also, I feel like the Kea Lani is under appreciated as wedding venues go (for some unknown reason), which is a shame because the hotel is STUNNING, the staff are incredibly kind/thoughtful, and the views from the lawn are the best in Maui. In short, we had the best weekend of our lives getting married at the Kea Lani, and there will never be enough words to thank MaryAnn and the entire Kea Lani team.
We had our son's wedding at the Fairmont Kea Lani on August 2, 2021. It was on the lawn adjacent to Polo Beach and it could not have been a more magical evening! MaryAnn Blanchard is the Wedding Coordinator at the Kea Lani and she was simply the best! Her many years of experience and vendor relationships truly made the event go without a hitch! Her enthusiasm is so contagious you cant help but walk away knowing you are in GREAT hands!
We had a Welcome Reception the night before the wedding and the food selection for both events that the Chef and his team prepared was nothing short of what you would expect from a 5 star hotel! All the guests raved about it!
We highly recommend contacting MaryAnn to discuss having your special day at the Kea Lani.
My wife and I got married at the Fairmont Kea Lani in August 2018 and it was easily the worst decision all thanks to our wedding coordinator: John Anderson. I didn’t know one person could ruin one wedding like he did ours but let me tell you about ours and see if Fairmont Kea Lani is the right venue for your dream wedding.
In our wedding package, the Fairmont Kea Lani offered a live musician for ours. My wife and I wanted a live musician for the cocktail hour and expressed this to John and he said he can make it happen. In our wedding contract, it stated there would a live musician. In our notes, there would be a live musician. In our emcee’s notes, there would be a live musician. So on our wedding day, why were there no live musicians and our guests had to listen to Pandora Radio….with COMMERCIALS? If John can’t handle a simple wedding package what makes you think he can handle your dream wedding? John’s lack of attention to detail was on display but it only gets better.
Our wedding was open bar but some of the specialty drinks (Mai Tais and Lava Flows) were “by consumption”. I had a feeling Fairmont Kea Lani would try to ring up on bill and John Anderson did not disappoint. We didn’t post any signs advertising these drinks but told some guests about these drinks during the wedding. After the wedding, we find out that 72 lava flows and 3 mai tais were “consumed”. These drinks were never consumed. They had runners trying to pass out these drinks during cocktail hour. When these drinks were declined, they were hidden away behind the bartender yet John tried to charge us over $1,000 for these unconsumed drinks. I have been to many weddings in Hawaii including the Four Reasons Maui and the Disney Aulani (on Oahu) and I never seen any alcohol beverages being passed around like that and the wedding couple getting charged like that. When confronting John about this post-wedding, he stated that my guests were “thirsty”. This is not only unacceptable but unethical on John Anderson and the Fairmont Kea Lani’s part. I told him that I wasn’t going to pay that bill and he obliged. He knew what he did was wrong because he got caught red handed. John Anderson is the opposite embodiment of the Aloha Spirit by trying to squeeze every last penny from you.
Before the wedding, we asked John Anderson to store some engagement pictures and the Japanese Folding Cranes display which is essential for any Japanese weddings. These pictures would be displayed at the ceremony then transferred to the reception. During the ceremony, the Japanese Folding Cranes display was no where to be found. There was an empty easel with no crane display. You would think something was missing but then again John’s incompetence comes into play yet again. For an establishment that only does one wedding a day, how difficult is it to store five pictures for a wedding? It took countless man hours to make the display and John Anderson and his team cannot store and find the display in a timely manner? After the wedding, John stated that he thought the Japanese Folding Cranes display was supposed to only for the reception. If that were the case, then why was he and his staff scrambling to put up the display with two hours left in the reception?
After the wedding, John was 100% in denial mode and was full of excuses. Anywhere but the Fairmont Kea Lani would have been a better venue. It was supposed to be one of the happiest days of our lives turned out to be one of the worst.
John Anderson is the worst! If you’re thinking of getting married here, go somewhere else!
I did the "just the two of us package" at this venue. Everything came out perfect!! From Pinterest to in person, 100% met my expectations. The staff as well as coordinator John Anderson were more than accommodating during my event as well as entire stay. Everything was provided through the venue which made planning easier, even from Florida! I would most definitely recommend this venue to anyone wanting to get Maui'd during their stay at this gorgeous location. The Fairmont never disappoints!
beautiful hotel, great service, but on the expensive side.
Picking this as my wedding location was only second to picking my groom on the list of best things I've ever done! The Kea Lani Fairmont is beyond gorgeous and their unbelievable customer service raised everything to an art form. They were so generous and gave us unbelievable upgrades and were there for everything small to huge. They helped our destination wedding be even easier than one back home and our pictures are the best I've ever seen. They are so classy but also friendly and laid back.
My wedding planner Rainell is super woman!
Book it!
Everything went perfectly! Our wedding coordinator was wonderful and able to accommodate our needs. We did not visit the venue before our wedding (b/c it was a destination wedding) and all our correspondence was through email. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous! And the salon did a great job with my hair and make-up
My new husband and I felt the VIP treatment from the moment we step into the hotel. You are received by the most friendliest staff in the world. We had many little surprises along the way that made us feel extra special. The staff is always trying to make sure that you are happy and satisfied.
Starting with the complimentary first night Valet Parking, upgraded room with an ocean view balcony, complimentary bottle of wine with dessert at their restaurant Ko, my husband and I did not want to leave. Great food, great view, great people!!!
We enjoyed the Fairmont! Good service and amenities. We booked the breakfast package and the buffet had plenty of international diversity. I even tried some dishes for the first time! The service was good the entire time. Our only issue was with room keys de-magnetizing. I hated to leave, but we took lots of pictures for the memory. The beauty of the resort and the view from Deluxe Oceanview was fantastic. The night we had dinner and danced on the lanai....heaven! Because of renovation discounts, value was over the top.
We where so lucky and spoiled to be sent to the fairmont for our honeymoon it is breathtaking!
