Leslie provided the cake for our October 2018 wedding reception and it was absolutely beautiful! She totally understood our vision, colors, and preferences and made us a cake that was even more beautiful than we could have imagined! We chose to have each layer of the cake be a different flavor (lemon, vanilla raspberry, carrot cake, and red velvet) and they all turned out equally delicious and all of our guests absolutely loved the cake! I would HIGHLY recommend using Fancy Cakes by Leslie - she truly does an amazing amazing job!

Fancy Cakes by Leslie did a fantastic job on our wedding cake! They nailed our design and vision for our wedding cake - it was perfect! Plus it tasted even better than we remember from our tasting! Highly recommend!

We chose Fancy Cakes by Leslie for our wedding cake and we were so pleased with how everything turned out! The cake tasting was a great experience. The staff walked us through different flavors and designs in order to make our vision a reality. The cake turned out exactly as we discussed at our tasting and our guests raved about the flavor!

I can not say enough great things about Fancy Cakes by Leslie! They did an exceptional job with our four tier wedding cake. They perfectly matched our colors with blush pink frosting and gold fondant. They intricate icing designs and monogram were perfect. The best part is that they were able to create frosting figurines of our pets just from a photo we shared. The looked just like our fur babies and we got lots of compliments. Not only did it look beautiful, but the cake was so yummy! We did the swiss buttercream, almond, and lemon. Order more than you think, because the slices will go fast! I'm glad our catering manager stashed away a couple slices for my husband and I to enjoy as a midnight snack!

We tasted Leslie's cupcakes and lemon squares when my fiance lived nearby and so thought of them for our wedding cake since they had a gluten free option available. Our meeting with a baker was helpful to walk through the options and style that we wanted our cake to be. They provided a free tasting and we purchased some cupcakes to take home to have our extended family test out. For our wedding we selected three different tiers and a separate gluten free small cake, which all were delicious. The color of the buttercream frosting was slightly different than I expected but it looked beautiful. They offer a complimentary 1st anniversary cake, which we can't wait to try in a year! My mother also booked a fondant-covered cake to match a Scrabble board through Fancy Cakes by Leslie for my bridal shower which looked great and was done during a power outage from major storms. Leslie did them at her own house and brought them to the dark storefront for my mom to pick up without any worry that it would be completed for the shower.

Fancy Cakes by Leslie did a perfect job with our wedding cake! They were very helpful in creating the design, and they had so many different flavor combinations to choose from. We ended up offering three different cake flavors, and the price for doing so was very reasonable. The cake they delivered to the wedding was really beautiful, exactly what we had asked for, and it was really delicious. We received many compliments on our cake, and we would highly recommend this bakery!

Our experience with Fancy Cakes by Leslie ended up being great. The wedding cake was top 3 of my most important things next to my dress and the party, so we ended up trying 6 different bakeries, some of them two or three times to make sure i didn't catch them on a bad day. So obviously I am a cake snob and I was on the hunt for a moist and flavorful cake, plus a light and fluffy icing that wasn't too sugary, and a great design. Most of the bakeries we tried the cake was too dry and/or lacking flavor, or the icing was too sugary or tasted articifical. We luckily found the perfect combination of a moist and flavorful almond cake at Fancy Cakes with a light italian meringue icing. We choose a caramel filling and it all tasted amazing at the tasting. I was disappointed on the wedding day that the caramel was soaked up into the cake so it wasn't as prevalent -- I wish I had known this was a risk, but it still tasted great. I took a gamble on their design -- a lot of their featured cakes looked cartoony, and we wanted a mix of modern, traditional and artistic. Mary was great and she definitely delivered. We got married in an industrial art gallery and our cake was so elegant and modern and fit in perfectly with our theme. They should add that picture to their gallery because it's a great representation of what they can pull off. Pricing was reasonable and affordable and we were so happy with the result. I am so excited to go back on our one-year anniversary for a complimentary freshly baked top tier!

I had no idea that choosing a wedding cake would be so EASY -- and FCBL gets all the credit for that! We tasted so many great options but the white cake with lemon curd and vanilla buttercream won out for us. I went in with two photos that were kind of similar but not really, explained that I'd like a little design from here, a little design from there....and was so pleasantly surprised that when I finally saw our cake, as it was exactly what I envisioned. Like, exactly. !!! Our cake was beautiful and so delicious -- everyone raved and I'm really looking forward to having occasion to order another one of Leslie's amazing creations. Highly recommend if you are looking for a super tasty cake and a super easy process!

The cake was absolutely beautiful, and just as we had imagined! The price was very reasonable as compared to other bakeries in MD/DC/VA. The flavors (lemon curd on 2 tiers, red velvet on 1 tier) were delicious, and the fondant frosting was perfect. Could not be more pleased with the cake. Leslie was also friendly, professional, and pleasant to work with when designing our dream cake. I would highly recommend FCBL to everyone!

We had a 3 tiered, 2 flavored cake. Their lemon cake is to die for. Actually. It's the best cake I've ever had. Their funfetti is good but didn't blow me away. They were really helpful with the design, were on time, and were really well priced!

Leslie rocked our wedding with a delicious lemon flavored cake with buttercream icing for our 9/19/15 wedding at Maggiano's in Friendship Heights. We as well as all of our guests loved it and Leslie was professional and helpful. My wife, Angela, and I would recommend Leslie and her company for any wedding! Thanks Leslie!!!

Leslie is just wonderful. We found her because she is a preferred vendor on the list from our venue, and it was such an easy appointment. We went with her red velvet cake and it was spectacular. We went to the appointment with a design idea in mind, and she created exactly what we wanted. It was beautiful, and so delicious. My maid of honor even loved it, and she doesn't like sweets at all. Her prices are fantastic as well, so you really can't go wrong!

Leslie is so talented. She was so understanding and worked with us to perfect our cake thoughts until we were 100% happy. We loved our cake-it was gorgeous, almost too pretty to eat! She is so sweet and I love that she personally delivers so many of her cakes. We love going by her shop in Bethesda for special treats :)

We met with Leslie not having any ideas as to what we wanted. She had us look through some books and point out ones we liked, we then settled on a style we liked and talked through how she could customize it to meet our desires. Then we left and that was it until the cake showed up on our wedding day. When I saw it it blew me away. It was better then what I imagined it would e, absolutely beautiful! She did an absolutely amazing job with it and we got rave reviews from everyone on how good it tasted too! I can't say enough good things about Leslie and her abilities to make a cake that not only tastes incredible but looks absolutely beautiful!

We found Leslie after we had to move our wedding last minute due to emergency repairs at the original venue (the first venue had a pastry chef to make the cake). When we met with her, she was so understanding and willing to help us! All of the flavors she offers are amazing and she can mix and match flavors in the different layers. We went with a white velvet cake - red velvet without the red dye. I showed her pictures of what we were planning with the other pastry chef and not only did she match the look, the final product was prettier than I could imagine. And the taste was amazing. Everyone loved it. I highly recommend using Leslie and I cannot wait to have another occasion to order one of her cakes.

We ordered a wedding cake from Fancy Cakes by Leslie for our June 2014 wedding and were very happy with the result. Both of us and our guests loved the two flavors chosen. The consultation process at the beginning went well, with the staff being helpful to guide us to the right design for us. It truly helped, as we didn't know what we wanted when we walked in. In all, we were very pleased with our experience and would fully recommend Fancy Cakes by Leslie. The only two other points I would make is that they are a little pricey, but that's also the area and the business. They didn't seem too far out of line with others we visited. The day before the wedding, I received a call from them, asking me what color the buttercream and decorations were and where the decoration should be placed. This did make me nervous, as it was all decided during the consultation, they and I each had a sketch of the cake with colors marked, and it was confirmed with the final order. However, it all worked out and looked exactly as envisioned. Maybe that's just normal practice to call to confirm?

I do not write reviews often, but I had to in this case. Leslie did an amazing job on our wedding cake! Not only was it delicious and beautiful, but Leslie was so easy to work with! I recently got married for the second time, and we planned things rather quickly. I contacted Leslie's Fancy Cakes for my July 6, 2014 wedding two weeks prior to the event, and not only were they were able to accommodate us on such short notice, but they created the cake of my dreams exactly the way I had requested!! Leslie also created incredible vegan/gluten free cupcakes for our vegan/gluten free family members. Everyone who tried them raved about how delicious they were (even the non-vegans!!). I would highly recommend using Leslie's Fancy Cakes for your wedding. You will NOT be disappointed!!!

I really loved the cake we got from this bakery in Bethesda. I simply showed them a picture of the design I wanted, we did a tasting and they created a beautiful cake! The cake was delivered in perfect condition and on time.

A+++ For creativity and execution. We had a great tasting and design session with the Fancy Cakes team. They really listened to our vision and helped creative an amazing cake for my husband's grooms cake. B- for taste. The amount of fondant needed for our cake really took away from the taste. It was great in the store but on the actual cake, really not the same.

They did a great job, cake looked and tasted wonderful. I had to book this from Texas for a DC wedding. So no taste test and only seeing pictures of cakes. They were fabulous to work with and did a great job. Cake was wonderful!!!!

Let me start with, "my new husband considers himself a baker on the side". Hence flavor was much more important to us than décor, but Fancy Cakes by Leslie did great on both counts. They had an interesting array of flavors, the cake was moist, the fillings and creams were complex, rich but not too sweet. The design was exactly what we wanted, and they even made a buttercream cake that held up for an outdoor May reception! They even matched the trimming exactly to my bridesmaids' dresses. Thank you for the wonderful day, and we frequently pop in for cupcakes in our wedding flavors for nostalgia! PS We suggest almond cake with lemon curd, and raspberry buttercream or chocolate with mocha grenache and buttercream. Their delicaate swiss buttercream is light and the perfect touch of sweetness as well!

I have to say that Fancy Cakes By Leslie nailed my cake. I wanted something very specific and I wanted it to taste good. It's true what they say though, no one really eats the cake. It's sad, but true. My cake was so gorgeous, I didn't even want to hack into it! I opted for smooth butter cream icing and two different flavors; a lemon with lemon curd and a classic almond with mini chocolate chips. Those who did eat it remarked that it was delicious. The small piece my husband and I shared was also very good. I have the top layer in my freezer which I look forward to eating on our or near our first anniversary. I would say you get what you pay for when it comes to wedding cakes. While not a bargain, the cake is something that you want to remember fondly. I definitely will remember mine that way and I'm really glad I went with a pro.

Our wedding cake was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! Although I didn't get a chance to eat one piece, my guest raved about our cake!!! I will definitely have Fancy Cakes by Leslie make our anniversary cake!! ❤❤

Cakes by Leslie was great - I brought in pictures of how I wanted my cake and the theme I was going for. They sketched it out exactly how I wanted it and it came out perfect! It was also delicious - I had custom flavors on every tier!

I will admit, I wasn't the easiest client. I had a strong vision, which included mixing and matching 3 cake designs into 1. The cake designers at Fancy Cakes far exceeded my expectations, and the cake was delicious! When I saw the final product, I was beyond happy with my cake. I would highly recommend Fancy Cakes by Leslie. Can't wait to eat the top layer in a year!

We went into the shop and met with an associate to plan out our cake. They were all very patient with us as we (two graphic designers) got specific about what we wanted. They sketched out a plan, we tasted the flavors, and they worked with us on what would look and taste best. Leslie even called me to confirm a small detail when they weren't sure about exactly what we wanted, which was much appreciated. When I saw the cake at the reception it was EXACTLY what we expected, down to the very last stripe and polka dot. Other vendors gave us final products that were similar to our ideas, but Fancy Cakes by Leslie gave us EXACTLY what we asked for and we were super thrilled and beyond happy! The cake flavors were delicious. Definitely use them, it's worth the cost!

Our venue (Hilton Mark Center) included the wedding cake in their package so the bakery was decided for us. The cake we had at our tasting was fresh and wonderful! Our wedding cake was not as fresh, although it was still fine (it wasn't as chilled by the time it was sliced and served to guests as during our cake cutting/feeding) and was very plain. We asked for simple and elegant but even the groom said the cake was simply plain. The only flowers were on top and fondant beading/balls around the bottom layer.

Our cake was included with booking at the W Hotel in DC and they use Fancy Cakes by Leslie. All I had to do was show them a picture of my dream cake that I saw in a wedding magazine and they made almost an exact replica. We got to choose the cake & filling at the tasting. It was one of the easiest parts of planning.

We got the almond cake with raspberry layering. Ive always thought cakes by leslie had the best cupcakes around and wanted my wedding cake by them. The cake was so delicious, one of the best, if not the best, wedding cakes i have ever tasted! Not only that, but it was gorgeous! We had a tropical/underwater theme, the cake had sea shells and coral (made out of something like fondent or chocolate, i forgot) and was absolutely stunning! I loved our cake and it couldn't have been more perfect! THANK YOU!

Leslie was very helpful in the design process, and so creative. Her cakes and buttercream were the best of all we tried. We will definitely go back for other goodies in the future!

I absolutely Loved our wedding cake!!!! I am not a big fan of cake in general but Leslie's cakes are amazing!!! we had 4 different flavors and each one topped the next, not to mention our cake was absolutely stunning.

We order a red velvet and yellow cake very good and tasty. It was very creative with butterflies cascade on the tiers. The arrival of the cake on our wedding day was perfect and on time. Leslie personally came to the location and set up the cake very timely.

Leslie did a great job with our wedding cake. I found a picture of exactly what i wanted and she made our cake look identical to it! The cake was also so good!! I couldn't have asked for anymore!

We used Fancy Cakes by Leslie for the grooms cake. Wow!!! She did a wonderful job! We asked for a cake in the shape of an armadillo (Steel Magnolias) and did she come through!! The cake looked exactly like an armadillo AND it tasted great! I was beyond impressed with the professionalism. She actually took multiple days to create the cake with the fondant and it paid off. Definitely recommend them!

My husband and I chose Fancy Cakes by Leslie because of the details on her wedding cake images and the pricing. When we visited the shop for a tasting, everything was delicious. I was disappointed with the service following our initial deposit however. We never met with the same consultant for our subsequent visits and I think that's why our cake didn't turn out as we wanted. It seemed that because we didn't spend more than $1K on the cake, the time and attention to detail wasn't taken when designing and making our cake. The fondant fell off the cake as soon as it was cut. My hubby and I cut the first piece and it completely fell apart - not so picture worthy. If you're willing to spend a lot of money on a cake, I recommend them. If not, go with someone else.

Our wedding cake was absolutely AMAZING!!! We ordered a 2-tiered butter cream cake... It tasted exactly as we remembered from the tasting/planning session at the shop. Many of our guests commented on how beautiful and delicious the cake was! The design/look of the cake wasn't exactly as ordered... We gave Leslie a picture of what we wanted, but with one change. Instead of the pictured trim (made of icing), we requested a trim made with fondant. We ended up with exactly what the picture showed (the icing trim). Not a big deal... it still looked good and we were happy! : ) I would still recommend 'Fancy Cakes by Leslie' to ANYONE!

We used Leslie for our wedding cake and everyone couldn't stop talking about how delicious the cake was!!! Everyone went for seconds!! On the actual wedding day the cake was dropped off on time with no problems at all. The only thing I would say is that I didn't go through a formal tasting process and even though she was very accessible through email, she did not take a lot of time with each of her clients (probably because she is so busy). That being said, I had a picture that I had given her with a few changes and the cake turned out absolutely perfect, looked beautiful and tasted amazing. So I would absolutely hire her again!
