Drea, First and foremost, I want to sincerely thank you for sharing your thoughts on the review that was 13 months after your wedding on The Knot. While it’s difficult to hear that...
your day didn’t fully meet your expectations, I genuinely appreciate your honesty, and I’m truly sorry for any part of your experience that left you feeling disappointed.
Your wedding day was significant to me, as every couple I work with holds a special place in my heart. I do appreciate the gift you gave me as well. I want to acknowledge that your celebration took place during a very difficult time in my personal life, as my mother passed away one week before your wedding celebration, which I had shared with you. ( Reason for having two assistants on the day of your wedding & myself) Despite this loss, I remained fully committed to your day: I attended your rehearsal, was present on your wedding day, ensured the ceremony began on time, and helped coordinate the detailed setup exactly as planned. I left once dinner was underway, feeling confident that the major elements of your celebration had been handled as we had discussed.
Regarding the concerns you mentioned:
Leftovers: If you intended to have leftover food provided to staff, this should have been included in your catering contract/banquet event order (BEO). This was handled by you personally (per your contract), and I believe you invited the catering salesperson to the dinner reception. I would think this would have been communicated to her as well. If so, then the staff would have done so as directed. Different venues have different policies—some allow staff to take food home, others do not due to health regulations. I’m sorry if this wasn’t communicated or honored by the venue. As this was not communicated in the timeline notes that were finalized 5 days before the wedding day.
Root Beer Float Bar: It was a cold and rainy day, which may have impacted guest participation. That said, my assistant does recall it was used by some of your guests, and I’m sorry if it didn’t meet your expectations. Not everyone likes root beer floats.
VIP Tables: The timeline, shared with you and your vendors five days before the wedding, indicated that you and your husband would begin the buffet line. If specific instructions were needed to prioritize certain tables, I wish you had discussed this during our final planning or rehearsal day. Clear communication with me and the DJ who releases the tables could have made this happen for you.
I’ve emailed three people who were present because of your review, and they mentioned the guests were having a wonderful time. While that doesn’t diminish how you felt, I hope it serves as some reassurance that many aspects of your day were joyful and successful.
It’s never easy to learn about these concerns more than a year later, plus finding out a year later about your review. I genuinely wish you had felt comfortable reaching out sooner so I could have addressed your feelings directly. Still, I appreciate your feedback.
Wishing you both continued happiness in your marriage and all the best for the future.
Felicia was great until the wedding day. She told us the week of our wedding she needed to leave early, but we’d be in good hands with backups. We were NOT in good hands. One lady ...
she put in charge was clueless as to what we wanted/flow/VIPs / special touches/etc ( which are all really important details to know before the day of. Those aren’t things the bride and groom should be answering and explaining on their wedding day!) Because of her early departure and because of who she left in charge- some of the logistics got screwed up. Made a mess of releasing tables to dinner and no announcement was made for the root beer float bar ( in lieu of cake) so all that money we spent on dessert went to waste. Also, really frustrating that we told her we wanted to box leftovers to send home with the venue crew as a thank you, but she didn’t pass that along so all those leftovers went to waste as well.
