My husband and I were married here on May 14, 2022; we were the venue's first wedding of 2022. The Fenimore Art Museum and Farmers’ Museum provided us with a day that will live on ...
in our hearts forever. The staff’s organizational capacity and dedication to excellence were unmatched. The museum and its grounds created a visually stunning context for our day’s events; and, since the wedding, many of our guests have continually commented to us that they still recall fondly how beautiful everything was.
If you are interested in having your wedding here, it should be noted how many wonderful options you have regarding locations for your day’s events. There are actually two museums - The Fenimore Art Museum and the Farmers’ Museum - and each of them has a wide range of both indoor and outdoor spaces where different wedding-related events can happen. You could get married on a picturesque and immaculately maintained garden terrace; you could get married on an elementally beautiful amphitheater that cascades down to the very edge of Lake Otsego (as we did); you could get married in an elegantly constructed and historic wood chapel; and the options go on. Regardless of what you choose, you can count on the experience being singular and unforgettable.
Katie Cole, the events coordinator, is wise and experienced; she leads a team of committed, hard-working professionals who will do the right thing without having to be asked. We were so comforted by this during the planning phase that we ultimately decided that we didn’t need to hire a separate wedding coordinator. On a related note, it should be mentioned how many high-quality professionals there are in the Cooperstown area who can provide catering, equipment rentals, florals, and other wedding-related services. What’s more, most of them have worked weddings at the Fenimore Art Museum dozens (maybe hundreds) of times over, and are more than capable of coordinating seamlessly with Katie and her staff.
As mentioned before, we had our ceremony on stage that was directly overlooking the gorgeous lake, with mountains and vast skies in the background. We chose to have our cocktail hour afterward at the Empire State Carousel, a historic carousel that is one of the oldest in New York State. Our reception was located in the Louis C. Jones Center, a stone and wood banquet hall that had the feel of a colonial-era barn. There were tons of logistical questions and variables to work out during planning, but in the end, the Fenimore and Farmers’ Museum staff made it all happen exquisitely. We would not have done anything differently, and we will always remember the day with great joy.
So glad we went with this venue. We were able to create our dream wedding. We rented out the church and LCJ Center, but because guests walk to the church they are able to see the e...
ntire Farmer's Museum. My wedding coordinator worked with Katie, who did a great job ensuring everything was in order. Katie was able to advise on the best areas for cocktail hour and even make suggestions to streamline our ceremony/reception timeline. I would highly recommend this beautiful venue.
We had a wonderful wedding at the Fenimore/Farmer's Museum. The event spaces available are beautiful and the vendors available are easy to work with (particularly Mark who rents th...
eir tents & lighting). Our guests loved our cocktail hour at the Carousel. The event coordinator Katie went above and beyond to make sure our day was 0 stress and I am so grateful for all her help.
We are so happy that we had our ceremony and reception at the Fenimore Art Museum, which is part of the Farmers Museum! The setting is idyllic, with views overlooking Otsego Lake a...
nd Kingfisher Tower. Plus, the venue is private and provides you with the opportunity to create a truly unique wedding. Anne, the event and wedding manager, is reliable and relaxed, which was much needed during the week leading up to the wedding.
We had the most wonderful wedding at The Farmer's Museum on September 22, 2018! We knew from the beginning we started planning that we did not want a traditional banquet facility o...
r hotel wedding. We wanted something that really felt special to us, and that reflected our personalities. From the start, when we met their coordinator, Anne, last December, the entire process went so smoothly. Anne treats you like family, is responsive to questions, and truly cares and wants your day to be as wonderful as you do!
We had a perfect fall day for our wedding. We rented the church for our ceremony, and the carousel for our cocktail hour - which was a HUGE hit with our guests! The Louis C. Jones Center was the perfect setting for our reception. With the beautiful wood columns and twinkle lights on the ceiling, it doesn't take much to turn it into an inviting space! There are so many options when choosing your tables, linens, decorations, etc. They even give you all a list of preferred vendors, so it makes booking your caterer, DJ, etc, a breeze! We wanted a unique wedding venue, one that we and our guests would remember and be excited about, and The Farmer's Museum was perfect! The one thing I am sad about is that it's over! Luckily, we can continue to go to the museum for other events, and we look forward to taking our children there someday, too! It truly is a special and magical place!
We had our ceremony and reception at the Farmers Museum. From start to finish, it was an absolute pleasure to work with their staff. We had an amazing day due to the coordination ...
and help that they provided. Highly recommend!
Our guests could not say enough about how beautiful and unique our venue was. We loved how you could kind of "mix and match" by using spaces at The Farmers' Museum and the Fenimore...
Art Museum (they are managed by the same event manager). We had our ceremony outside at the amphitheater at the art museum, which had an amazing view of the lake and the fall foliage. We did our cocktail hour at the carousel - our guests loved riding the carousel and we thought this was such a playful and unique touch. Our reception was at the Center. We paid for the twinkle lights, which were worth it because they really transformed the space. Since all the spaces are so beautiful, a little decoration goes a long way.
The event manager Anne was friendly and organized.
I was married here on 9/16/17. While I grew up in the area, my husband's family is all from the city as well as our friends. We currently reside in Long Island so about 75% of ou...
r guests were from out of town. They all LOVED our venue. Growing up here I never fully appreciated the museum. It is an amazing place....from venue to museum, there is not another place like it around. We got married in the church, had our cocktail hour at the carousel and our reception in the main barn. We loved every minute of it and Anne Tandle was so accomodating and helpful with all of the planning. One building is more beautiful than the other and it provided us with that unique and magical experience we had wanted. It will be a wedding to be remembered.
