created such a welcoming environment where we felt comfortable being vulnerable, making mistakes, and learning something completely new together.
She was incredibly patient and made the whole process fun rather than stressful. Beyond teaching us the choreography, she also shared so many helpful wedding and first-dance tips that made us feel much more prepared for the actual day.
Our first dance ended up being one of our favorite parts of the wedding, and our guests absolutely loved it! We received so many compliments on our dance, and we definitely could not have done it without her.
We’re so grateful for everything she taught us and for making this experience such a special part of our wedding preparations. We would absolutely recommend her to any couple, especially those who have never danced before!

to the perfect length/timing. She has a wealth of online resources which we utilized, and we also took several in-person classes with her, which were the best part! We are so happy with our how first dance turned out and we now have beautiful pictures to show for it. Thank you, Alex!

he start, she had incredible ideas for our first dance that were flashy and show-stopping, but still totally achievable for two amateurs like us.
What really impressed me was how she balanced our very different styles. My husband was all in for big, bold moves, while I’m much more conservative. Alex crafted a routine that perfectly honored both of our personalities, so we felt confident and comfortable the whole time.
Her tips and props for dancing in a wedding dress were genius, everything felt realistic and doable on the big day. We walked away feeling prepared, confident, and most importantly, we had an absolute blast throughout the process. Our first dance was a highlight of the night, and we owe so much of that to Alex’s creativity, patience, and fun energy. She’s incredible at what she does and made our wedding experience that much more magical!
We booked a single lesson with Alex before our wedding simply to feel more comfortable and confident during our first dance. We are so happy we did!

Alex quickly put together a routine that felt natural, easy to follow, and fit us perfectly. More than anything, she helped us relax and feel confident going into the wedding day. Our first dance felt effortless, and we had so much fun with it. We would highly recommend Alex to any couple looking for a little extra confidence on the dance floor!

that made every session something we genuinely looked forward to.
She didn’t just teach us steps — she crafted a moment. She took the time to understand our personalities, our comfort levels, and the kind of memory we wanted to create. With her guidance, our daddy‑daughter dance became fun, meaningful, and uniquely “us.”
Her ability to keep us relaxed, laughing, and confident turned what could have been a stressful experience into something we’ll cherish forever. Thanks to her, we walked onto that dance floor feeling prepared, connected, and excited — and the dance itself became one of the most special moments of the entire wedding.
I can’t recommend her enough. She made our dance unforgettable, and we’ll be grateful for that for a lifetime.
Alex was an amazing dance instructor, providing basic videos for us to practice together before our first session but able to lead us all the way from absolute beginner level with ...
no experience to a stunning first dance for our wedding in only a few lessons! She worked with us and our song choice to create choreography that was both impressive and attainable for our level of dance experience, and that fit our personal style and aesthetics. She also helped choreograph the Father/Daughter dance and it went very well! Would recommend anyone looking for a dance instructor for their wedding dances to check her studio out, and her pricing for the different packages offered is more than reasonable!
Alex was simply incredible to work with in choreographing the first dance for our wedding. We had a vision for what our first dance moment would be like and Alex made sure we were ...

ng it. In September, I decided to search for dance lessons and that is when I found First Dance Charlotte.
After reviewing the instructions and videos I didn’t have confidence we would be ready for the wedding. We practiced together and alone during the next six weeks as Alex recommended. I continually reviewed her instructions and videos to confirm we had the correct steps. I must say I enjoyed the practices. On the wedding day we were ready.
Thank you for your help and encouragement. We definitely would not have done as well without Alex!
I cannot tell you how appreciative I am of Alex. We started with no dance experience at all, but in 3 1 hour long lessons over the course of 1 month, we able to learn and preform o...
ur dance on our wedding day. Prior to your first lesson, Alex provides a thoughtfully  designed pre-course that enables you to accelerate your training and set you up for success. From the very first lesson, Alex made us feel comfortable and excited about the journey ahead. She was able to choreograph a dance to our song that fit our style and comfortability and incorporate elements that really wowed our audience. She is a fantastic instructor breaking down steps in an easy to understand manner. She even provided tips, before our wedding day to focus on and keep us relaxed. If you are looking for someone in the Charlotte area to help create a memorable first dance, go with Alex.

We did three lessons and my husband (with no prior dance experience) danced amazingly after our lessons thanks to Alex's thorough instructions and suggestions!! She is kind and fun and you will really enjoy your experience working with her! Our first dance would not have been anything close to what it was without her help! Highly recommend working with her - you will wow your wedding guests with your moves and skills and won't regret it!!!

at home and she gave great feedback during the lessons, always with a thoughtful approach. We even mastered some dips and lifts that our family friends LOVED during the reception. We were so glad to have Alex as our teacher to prepare for our first dance and highly recommend.

so before the wedding. We ended up changing the song we were going to dance to after the first dance lesson, but the course that she provides prior along with the dance lessons gave us all the tools we needed to have a great first dance. She can be flexible on how you want to do your dance, whether you want it to be free flowing or choreographed to a T (this was us). Overall, it was a worthwhile decision to go with Alex and we would highly recommend! :)
Had the best experience working with Alex for our first dance! We chose to do 3 one-hour privates & that was perfect for us. We were able to get a full 3 minute dance that include...
d a couple of fun lifts, spins and dips. We had great time working with Alex and LOVED our first dance. We got so many compliments on it & several guests told us they would never forget our first dance. I would definitely recommend First Dance Charlotte if you are looking for some help on with your wedding choreo!

e LOVED that signing up for her dance lessons also gave us access to her online tutorial videos. We made sure to practice them before meeting with her and then in one lesson she helped us come up with simple choreography that we knew we'd be able to follow. Because of her, not only did we not embarrass ourselves but we actually had fun and looked pretty great! I would highly recommend booking a lesson or two or three with Alex. When else will you get the chance to create such a perfect moment with your new spouse!

ts were truly impressed, and more importantly, we felt amazing on the dance floor. Taking lessons before the wedding was one of the best decisions we made, and we were surprised by how much fun we had in the process. Alex made every lesson enjoyable, and the experience added even more joy to our big day. We can’t recommend her enough!

w close to stand. It's the little things that help you start to feel comfortable and confident. She encouraged us to try new things- originally we didn't plan on doing any lifts but added two! She helped make our dance our own by incorporating our ideas. Our first dance was one of our favorite parts of our wedding day.
We could not recommend more highly! My husband and I had a somewhat tricky/upbeat first dance song (Never in My Wildest Dreams by Dan Auerbach), and so we wanted to make sure that...
we had some sort of plan when it came time for our first dance. Alex helped us to choreograph the sweetest dance that didn't feel "too" choreographed- it still felt very sweet and natural! Not only was it nice to feel prepared, but we also had fun while doing our lessons- it was cool to learn that my husband had some hidden moves that I didn't know about!

ven offered to help me figure out some appropriate choreography for a song I liked that that she hadn't actually made a video and lesson for yet. I went through the lessons very diligently, and my husband practiced with me. It was fun to learn even some simple dance steps for the first time in my life. My son practiced much less that I did, but on his wedding day everything came together pretty well because we both knew the basic moves. The other wedding attendees were enthusiastic and supportive of our efforts on the dance floor, which made it extra fun. I highly recommend First Dance Charlotte to help make your Mother/Son (or Father/Daughter) dance less stressful, and more fun than just swaying back and forth.
Alex was amazing! We attended a 1 group session with 2 other couples and 1 private session. The group session was a great way to get comfortable with the moves and our private sess...
ion gave us time to memorize or dance and tweak small items alone with Alex. She was great at making us feel so confident in our first dance! We especially appreciated her suggesting moves for us and telling us we could try them and always change the dance if we didn’t love the way it made us feel. It pushed us out of our comfort zone but also let us feel like we had input in our dance. I highly recommend using Alex!!!
We feel so unbelievably lucky to have found Alex!

dance! I come from a background of dance for 10+ years, while my husband is more of a sideline supporter. We wanted to find an instructor that could merge our differences in comfort, skill, and dancing styles, and Alex did that and so much more. We met with Alex three times in person, but her online classes were a tremendous help to allowing us get comfortable slow dancing with each other! By the time we had our first meeting, we were already learning how to dip, somewhat confidently! How cool is that! Our in person meetings with Alex were delightful experiences. She was accommodating, supportive, and we always left feeling better than we did when we arrived! She made us feel confident, and ready to go. By our third meeting, it was as if we were regular friends!
The best part about it all was learning how to do our lift during the dance. My husband and I were both nervous about what a lift would look like for us, but man oh man did it rock at our reception! The guests went crazy loud and cheered, and it was such an amazing experience for us to have!
Thank you to Alex for her time, positive and bright energy, and encouragement throughout the process. We would work with Alex every day if we could, and would highly recommend everyone else do so as well!

s are tailored specifically to your needs and what you are looking for. We did the Coffee and Cake package and it was the perfect amount of lessons for us to have structure for our first dance and feel comfortable on the dance floor! I highly recommend Alex for dance lessons. Whether you are looking for a fully choreographed dance or simply to 'know what you are doing', she is fantastic!

ing more elaborate than we wanted (although she gave that optionality if we did want it!). She asked us how we could best leverage our lesson with her, and she catered to our needs perfectly. She made us feel comfortable (for two admittedly not great dancers) and put together a routine that worked for us. It went really well, and we received several compliments on our first dance!
Our lessons with Alex really paid off for our first dance. We are middle aged and really hadn't danced in a long time. She showed us just how beautiful our dance could be and tailo...

d give the online course a try. It was so easy and comprehensive and I would recommend anyone to use this for their first wedding dance. It's super convenient to practice when you can in between all the wedding preparations, rather than having to go to a specific place at a specific time and not having video material to follow for practice sessions at home. We live in the Netherlands and it was very easy to pay for the course and get accesss to the materials.
Our first dance was AMAZING because of Alex - truly so affordable, convenient, and helpful beyond belief! She made us look like we were professionals, 10/10 recommend!!

he instructors provided clear, step-by-step guidance, which made us feel confident and prepared. We went from having two left feet to wowing our guests with a beautiful, polished routine.
Our first dance went off without a hitch, and people were very impressed. This really helped us enjoy the moment rather than stress over it and allowed us to spend quality time together before the wedding. Highly recommend to anyone looking to perfect their first dance.
We had SO MUCH FUN with Alex during our three lessons. She's such a positive and helpful human, and our dance turned our perfectly. We very much looked forward to each lesson, and ...

crowd favorite for our guests. Our lessons became a highlight for us during our engagement season, too, almost like a built-in date night and a way to shake off the wedding planning stress. Alex is fun, energetic, has great ideas, and taught my two-left-feet husband how to keep the beat! We even incorporated a lift!!! We will always feel indebted to Alex for the memories she helped us make on our wedding day. We continue to dance our first dance like we did on our wedding day in times of both joy and sorrow — a testament to the legacy a first dance can have on your marriage. We can’t recommend her enough!

deo with the voice-over dance steps really helped to pull it all together. My wife and I had a great time, it was fun, learning the routine.
The plan was for my daughter and fiance to practice together, so she could learn the steps too. She confessed to me on the way to the church that they did not finish the program. Our routine pretty much was side to side and some really nice double turns!! We pulled it off and it was great.
All in all, it was a great experience!!

d helped accommodate us when our schedules were crazy and nothing was lining up. She was also very patient with us as neither of us had done any professional dance or dance classes. She was able to tailor a great dance for us and made it easy to practice by hearing prompts in our practice video. We got great compliments after our dance and cannot recommend Alex enough!

l that seemed to line up best with our chosen song. We also ended up being able to do 2 in person lessons with Alex and she made us feel so comfortable with what we’d done at home, and provided guidance on how to finish out our routine. We only told a handful of guests that we had a choreographed first dance, so most of our guests were super surprised, and it was so much fun! We loved the process of learning to dance at home, and hope to keep it as part of our relationship.

She was so kind and gracious to fit us into her schedule just as she was coming back from maternity leave. My husband and I completed her online tutorial before taking in person lessons. The tutorial was so easy to follow and well laid out, and gave us a good foundation to start with! Our in person lessons were something we looked forward to as a fun break in the midst of wedding planning stress.
Alex is such a light and has such a way of putting people at ease and meeting them where they are, constructing dances around each individual’s comfort and skill levels. She was particularly kind and patient with my Dad, which was so appreciated.
Our dances at the wedding went so well and people raved about them! Having some steps to follow made us all feel more confident on the dance floor, but I loved that nothing was overly choreographed or cheesy.
We can’t recommend Alex enough. She’s a joy to work with and created dances for us that we will treasure from that day forever!
