Ours was a wonderful wedding in the sanctuary of this beautiful church in Waltham. The church was very accommodating, and permitted us to decorate the chancel with a large banner," Hail the Festival Day" on the raristan and a garden arch that created the perfect scene for our promises and hopes. The light entering the church through rose tinted glass created a pinkish tint that felt magical. We found the church accessible, with plenty of parking nearby and adequate space for dressing and staging, and good sound and acoustics.
Our wedding at the First Parish in Waltham was perfect. We were looking for a church that could: 1. hold 250 guests 2. would allow us to have our rehearsal/welcome dinner the night before & 3. would allow us to have small refreshments after the ceremony. All 3 needs were met & then some! We loved the old charm of the church (that's what sold me). We were able to use their sound system (for a small fee) which worked perfectly for all of our guests to hear the ceremony.
We communicated through email, which was always helpful. Everyone we talked to or met was very kind and helpful. The church even contacted us to let us know there would be pumpkins outside for their sale, but made sure we knew it wouldn't interfere with the wedding. Our guests loved the pumpkins, the church and the whole experience overall.
We had a wonderful experience at First Parish. Everything went smoothly. The staff was super supportive. The sanctuary is really beautiful and fit all our guests comfortably.
Definitely recommend!
I was married at First Parish in 2010 and was so pleased with how the ceremony went. My husband and I have larger families, and the sanctuary had plenty of seating for all of our relatives and friends. Rev. Marc married us, and the ceremony was just what we wanted: personal, joyful, and brief.
The wedding party had plenty of space to get ready--we used the chapel as a dressing area, but I don't know that's still the room offered to the couple. We also used the front steps for photos of the wedding party and the family. We didn't use Whitcomb Hall or the Chapel for any other portion of the wedding.
I loved the sanctuary. The high chandeliers, the rosy glow of light filtering through the colored glass windows, and the pipe organ's music all added to the day. With the sound system, no one strained to hear the ceremony, either.
The description for the church doesn't mention the convenient off-street parking, with street parking and city lots nearby. The convenient parking was helpful!
Overall, this warm and welcoming church is a wonderful place to be married.
