Hey - I'm Ty. I have been shooting photos professionally for over twenty years. I love all things design - art, architecture, lines, angles shadows and of course light. Personally, I am happiest when I am creating, whether that be making images, designing a living space, painting or working in my garden. My work and style are largely DOCUMENTARY in approach, often infused with MOTION and EMOTION, are a bit WHIMSICAL, definitely PLAYFUL, and build off of the idea that the IMPERFECT IS PERFECT. If the wind is blowing, your hair will flow with it and we will use that to make magical images that weren't planned, but will remind you forever of the specialness of your day. I am most inspired by imagery that is personal and unique to who you are, the life you lead and the style of celebration that you create. Building an amazing wedding gallery and telling your story is a bit like an artistic scavenger hunt and I truly love every moment of it. I enjoy finding moments that capture the 'aftermath of celebration,' such as an empty plate or confetti on the floor that say 'an amazing time was had here.' But I also don't see my role as pure documentarian. Rather, I think that art is often taking 'what is' and still imagining 'what it can be.' My favorite piece of feedback that I have ever received following a wedding was from a couple who noted that it had felt less like they had hired a 'wedding photographer' and more like they had invited an artistic friend to document their day. This to me is EVERYTHING!

in things that set Ty apart from the other photographers we considered for our wedding: 1. His amazing, intentional communication - other photographers we talked with mentioned their tight restrictions on communication leading up to the wedding - we had to answer their questions and fit their schedule. When you're coordinating so much for a DIY wedding, that's the last thing you want added to your heaping plate - so it was such a relief to not have that kind of pressure from Ty! Leading up to the wedding, he was always quick to respond when we had questions and went above and beyond to understand what we wanted from our wedding day. Through email and some calls, Ty took the time to get to know us - talking over zoom, scouting our location, and contacting the venue himself to coordinate a walkthrough. 2. His easy-going personality - the day-of, he was a joy to work with, and all the guests loved him too! He gave guidance for some really creative photo ideas, but with such a calm and gentle demeanor that put everyone at ease, without pressure to 'perform.' I'll just say... I'm the bride, and I'll admit I'm not confident with posing 'elegantly' for the camera - but you can't tell that from our wedding photos, because Ty just let us be ourselves, and he expertly captured beautiful moments, both big and small, in authentic but unique ways. 3. His, almost...omnipresence? :D Although we considered other photographers because they had second shooters, that doesn't matter if you pick Ty! Looking back at photos, we're amazed by how quickly, quietly, and continuously he moved. He seemed to be everywhere at once, always capturing exciting and tender moments yet he was so kind and unobtrusive that no one minded him as he positioned himself for beautiful shots. Overall, Ty really understood the heart of what we wanted from our wedding photos, and boy, did he deliver! Our photos were perfect because they were not all perfectly staged, or taken from canned poses. They were us, surrounded by all the people we love most, enjoying the happiest day of our lives, shown in our best light. We can't recommend Ty highly enough.

nt photo session, to the wedding day itself and all the communications and deliverables in between and since, Ty has been dependable, kind, patient and put us completely at ease through the process. I was nervous about finding someone that would be a fit for us stylistically and interpersonally, as it’s such a momentous and personal event. I was looking for someone who could capture the moments and mood of the day and highlight the beautiful people and personalities attending. Ty delivered, and exceeded, every expectation we had. He was such a delightful and unassuming presence and managed to capture so many gorgeous moments. His style is editorial and he shines in artistic composition and catching candid, REAL moments. So many friends made the comment that these photos could be in a fashion magazine or a coffee table book. As we pour over our photos it’s clear that the day tells a story and it features not just my husband and me, but our community and all they brought to the day. There’s such joy and movement and life in the photos! Lastly, Ty was unbelievably fast in getting us sneak peeks and full galleries of our engagement and wedding photos. When our schedules got tight, Ty was patient with us in ensuring our vision would come to life in a way that aligned with our schedule. Once it was time for our photoshoot, Ty created a vision and images that far exceeded our expectations. He was extremely patient when we decided to include our chaotic, but cute, dogs. When the venue we initially planned to use threw us a curve ball, he was flexible and made amazing shots happen on the fly. I couldn’t recommend Ty enough. Of course he did a great job with the obligatory family photos and the other must have wedding shots, but what I love most is the way he captured the real feeling of the day - of us and our family and friends. moments, even the little ones. Ty captured emotions of my family members and getting to see their reactions on wedding day was such a joy. I loved that I got to fully experience my wedding day without a lot of stepping away from the party to get staged photos and because of Ty's largely documentary style process we got the most gorgeous photos I've ever seen in my life. The photos are a mixture of organic, natural moments, mixed with artistic motion and film. Every single photo is one I want to frame in my house! Ty made us feel so comfortable and relaxed when we did our engagement photos and the wedding photos. It was perfect to have him there, his presence is calm and joyful, he is subtle and professional, and I never worried about how the photos would turn out because I trusted him completely. My family jokes that I am not photogenic (which is true), but Ty was able to get the best pictures of me in my whole life! By the end of the wedding night, my husband said to me "Ty felt like family too by the end!". uple he works with. He took the time to meet with us on multiple occasions leading up to our wedding day, not only to make sure we were all on the same page - but also to get to know us better. The extra time spent is well reflected in the shots he was able to capture on our wedding day. The raw emotion he is able to capture in moments that seem so fleeting is absolutely beautiful. He has an eye for angles, shots, and details that are untraditional in the best way possible. Aside from the art of his photos, he is a relaxing, comfortable, and confident presence to have with you. We never once felt uncomfortable or that anything was forced. He even effortlessly won over our two small children and was able to get very special and adorable shots of them. We had him with us for the three days of our wedding weekend and he managed to be both present and invisible as he captured each emotion, each small moment, each unposed glance, small gesture and little detail of the ceremony -- for us, and for our guests. We booked Ty for an engagement session as well as for the day of and it was like he was not even around. When did he capture these beautiful moments? The pictures Ty takes aren't all just look at the camera and shoot. He has so many years of experience and you can see that through his perspective in the snapshots he takes. We are so pleased with the outcome of our engagement and wedding photos and his turnaround time of providing the digital views is great!
