Our wedding was a dream. At the Cove you not only rent a breathtaking venue but also the cottages on property, which encouraged our friends and family to gather from all over the country for the better part of the week. From kayaking, to fishing, to paddle boarding, to sitting in various nooks reading a book, or running out for yet another lobster roll - the Cove was a beautiful and serene spot to spend quality time with friends. Each cottage is lovely in its own way, some more rustic than others, but all well-appointment and thoughtfully designed. The Floods welcomed us so warmly and were constantly working to help make our experience impeccable (mowing the grass on the morning of the wedding, helping us put together our "altar" of wood boards, making us fires, helping liaise with our vendors). We had a welcome BBQ one evening with beer around a fire, met at each others cottages in the mornings for biscuits and local Beth's farm jam, did a group workout morning of the wedding that ended in a polar plunge into the harbor, and took breathtaking first look photos on the rocks over the water). I truly can't recommend this place enough. We are already scheming a return trip/reunion!
We had a fairy-tale perfect wedding here in this magical, private, seaside cove. In the spirit of a destination event, our guests who came from across the country and as far as Germany, spent a week's stay at each of the little cottages which brought the nostalgia of a quintessential Maine coast sojourn. The Flood family generously accommodated all our needs as we prepared for the big tent event. We found a great caterer nearby that provided delicious cuisine our guests loved - the swordfish was of the best we'd ever tasted. There was a wedding cake designer in Campden that made an identical cake to the image I gave her from a magazine, it tasted amazing even a year later when we dipped into the top we had frozen for our first-year anniversary. The tent site looked out over a spectacular view of the water and it was quite something to hear the sound of our Boston-based band echo across the private bay. We were able to integrate some natural coastal elements into our event ornamentation: Vased lupine set inside bases ringed with beautiful blue mussel shells; buoys painted lavender and white hung from the tent directing our seating arrangements; pearls and tiny white sea stars adorned the headpiece of my bridal veil. During the week, the groomsmen had an adventurous fishing tour out of Boothbay and the bridal party had a spa day in Newcastle. One night we has some fun with karaoke, another night was lobster and beer on the rocks. It was truly a celebration of a lifetime. We continue to cherish and share so many fun memories with our family and friends unique to the experience of our wedding in the Cove. We are eternally grateful to the Flood's - it was our dream wedding we will never forget!
Of course we think Flood's Cove is the best place in the world to get married--because that was the happiest day of our lives! But, all you have to do is look at the photos to be sold. There are incredible views everywhere. So many guests told us that our wedding was the best they'd ever been to because the layout of the venue worked perfectly for a weekend celebration of friends and family and love. From diving off the Barnacle to campfires on the beach. I must be one of few brides who went kayaking the day before my wedding. May I suggest the Log Cabin as a romantic, wedding lodge? We had a wood fire in the morning and stepped outside to the ocean air before our big day. The Flood's are sweet and accommodating. They love this place, and it shows. And now, we love it too! We can't say enough amazing things about the magic of Flood's Cove.
