My husband and I held our rehearsal dinner at the Florida House Inn and we were incredibly pleased! Everything from the food to the professionalism of the staff were beyond amazing...
. The setting is unique, stunning and perfectly fit the theme of our "understated southern elegance" destination wedding on Amelia Island. I noticed other people mentioned the music of the bar next door... I was thrilled to learn that the Florida House now owns that bar so that issues with competing noise would not be a problem for our event. I highly recommend this venue!
Pros: Venue is beautiful and they have a very beautiful garden party feel outside in the courtyard.
Cons: The service staff was lacking and only supplied one bartender when the ...
contract was listed for 2 (their open bar package states that for every 50 guests there is 1 bartender). They did not offer our dinner guests water and a family member repeatedly had to go into the kitchen to fill up pitchers of water that were provided in a corner in the back room of the inn. We ordered two entrees for our guests that came with sides, low country boil and braised beef bourbon ribs. They did not prep enough food for the number of guests communicated. After 2/3 of the guests went through the line, they ran out of main entrees and repeatedly ran out of shrimp for the low country boil. A family member was in the kitchen asking them to replenish the food several times. I was embarrassed that this was the quality of food provided and that there was a shortage of food at the event as well. The "ribs" that were provided were inedible. The Florida House Inn also forgot to provide an appetizer that was in the contract and I still have not heard from the event coordinator who was in charge of our event regarding a refund.
Additionally, we were told at our first meeting with the wedding coordinator that there would be ZERO music next store at the Green Turtle, The BAND/ noise from the next door bar was so loud that you could barely hear the music that was being played from the band WE PAID for and you were unable to hear speeches during this time as well.
There was a lack of attention to detail for our wedding rehearsal dinner and I give warning to anyone planning a wedding event/ rehearsal dinner event at this location to be very specific with what your contract states and ask for every little detail in writing. I absolutely love Amelia Island and love the people there and I want the small businesses there to flourish. However, this type of service and lack of hospitality was extremely disappointing and I don't want anyone to have to go through the same experience.
