When you hire Flou(-e)r, you aren’t just hiring a florist. You are hiring a team of competent, passionate artists with incredible versatility and impeccable taste. By the time I encountered Flou(-e)r on The Knot, I was already feeling incredibl...y demoralized by a horrendous consultation that had taken place with another florist, and doubtful that anyone would be available to take the job on relatively short notice. Miraculously, Gregory, the owner, responded that they had my wedding date available, so I sheepishly sent him my Pinterest board, which has few bridal images or pictures of floral arrangements, but does present a strong aesthetic. Previous florists have not known what to make of my Pinterest board, or of me for that matter. But Gregory’s surprisingly enthusiastic response instantly convinced me that my search for a florist was over. He immediately got my point of view, and assigned me a team member he insisted would relish the opportunity to do something outside of the box. That team member was Bridget. Bridget is joy and a treasure. Not only was she inspired by the uniqueness of my vision, the proposal she brought to our first consultation utterly knocked it out of the park. We traded ideas with an immediate synergy. Moreover, she became my fierce champion when it came to dealing with the notoriously difficult (and extremely traditional) manager of the venue where our wedding took place. Bridget really went above and beyond to ensure everything came together in a way that both satisfied the rigid demands of the venue manager while preserving the vision I so wanted to achieve. The end result of all of their labor is still being talked about. The materials they used were so inventive and different: deer antler, artichoke, plums… The fireplace mantels were dripping with amnesia roses, snapdragons, and black calla lilies. The centerpieces on the dining room tables stretched up toward the ceiling and culminated in soft, round clouds of ostrich feathers. The patio was spread with candle-lit lanterns that spilled across the grounds. The stairway where I made my entrance was overgrown with lush greenery, lined with candles, and flanked by tall gold urns overflowing with flowers—dark purples, shiny blacks, faded lavenders, deep burgundies. The whole scene exuded Art Deco opulence with a strong, dark, witchy edge. It was unrelentingly, unapologetically me. I’m getting verklempt just typing this because I can’t find the words to accurately convey how much joy it brought me. Gregory, Bridget, and the rest of the Flou(-e)r team gave me a fiercely fabulous, unforgettable wedding. People are still gushing about how fantastically beautiful the flowers were. They utterly nailed it. Put your faith in the folks at Flou(-e)r; have the wedding of your dreams—whatever those dreams may be.
