Formalities Bridal

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The selection is great, especially for a small town. They were great about helping me customize my dress. Every time I came to Formalities for a fitting, I fell in love with my dress even more. The girls are encouraging and knowledgeable. I would recommend Formalities to anyone.

The Owner is a snob but Tara (spelling??) one of the sales reps there is very nice - make sure you request her if you do go there! I made an appointment on a weekday during a quiet time and had 3 other people with me. When I got there the owner started out helping me and as soon as she heard my budget (I wanted to keep it around $500) she pretty much just laughed at me and started putting back the few dresses I had picked out to try on - She just said that they were NOT in my price range so I couldn't even try them on. After that my Mom even asked if I could try just one that that we really liked -- the owner just said no and walked away. I was about to walk out the door when Tara came over and asked if she could help - OMG - what a difference - she was soooo nice and helpful! The owner was rude and condescending and nearly made me cry - and I almost didn't buy from them because of her. All I can say is she is fortunate to have Tara (Spelling??) there to make up for what she lacks - Tara was very helpful and I actually ended up purchasing a bridesmaid dress and ordered it in Ivory (I didn't want a train or anything really detailed so it was a good fit for me). Just thought I would note a couple other reasons I didn't want to go to another store was because I didn't want to pay sales tax nor did I want to go to a town further away. I am just so glad I didn't have to have my alterations done there!

The seamstress really did do amazing work when she actually got to working on my dress, but I had to go in for 5 different fittings. When I would tell her something didn't fit right or I wanted something adjusted, she would make great suggestions. Then at the next fitting I would come in and the alterations would not be complete, and she would proceed to try to talk me out of completing that particular alteration when it was her suggestion in the first place. When I came in for what was supposed to be my last fitting, they had not completed all the alterations. When I pointed this out, she asked if I would come back in 20 minutes so the alterations could be completed. If it only took 20 minutes for these alterations to be completed, why didn't she do them in the month in between my fitting appointments? They also didn't adjust my account correctly when I put down a deposit, so it showed that I owed $200 more than I actually did. This did get straightened out, but it was just one more thing I had to worry about. If I had to do it over, I would buy the dress there as they were very helpful with that process, but would take it somewhere else to be altered.
