We used Formally Modern for our wedding to rent tuxedos for my husband (the groom), the best man, and our 3 Fathers. The following is written by my husband: We primarily worked wit...
h Alex in the Chicago store. After a bad experience at Men’s Wearhouse, we were discouraged until we walked into Formally Modern. Alex was so helpful with picking out the color (navy) for my tux jacket and making sure I had the right size ordered. He gave us great personalized suggestions. For folks out of town, they submitted measurements through the website. We had a few small issues at pickup. One of the Fathers from out of town had to come back a second day because his initial tux was the wrong size. For the rest of us, Alex and the rest of the staff was great with finding different sizes, making quick alterations, and making sure everything fit correctly. I (the groom) had to swap out my pants because one of the size adjusters wouldn’t stay in place. My jacket button was also very loose. Luckily I noticed these when I was trying everything on in the store and they quickly fixed them. I wish there was a little more attention put towards making sure clasps and buttons are solid and working in advance. Overall, we were really happy with our rentals from Formally Modern.
My groom and his 5 groomsmen and FIL and dad of the groom all rented tuxedos through FMT. Most groomsmen went to the Lincoln Park location and Collin was very helpful with getting ...
the measurements and trying different colors. While I want to mention that upon pickup, many of the shirts/pants/shoes were not the correct sizes, Collin and other associates were able to swap the sizes on site for the correct fit immediately. So I would just ensure each guy try on the rental at time of pick up prior to leaving the store. With 8 tuxes rented, the groom tux and 1 additional tux was free! That was a great bonus! The tuxes were comfortable and looked GREAT!
Anthony at Formally Modern Schaumburg was great to work with for the formalwear for the groom and groomsmen. However, a mistake occurred when one of the groomsmen picked up their t...
ux at the Chicago location in which a groomsman was given his tux without suspenders. We unfortunately had to have an usher drive to the nearest location a few hours before the wedding to pick the suspenders up, so I was a bit disappointed that this was handled as such. I would highly recommend the Schaumburg location!
I would highly recommend Formally Modern Tuxedo. They worked with family from out of town (our Chicago friends went to their Chicago area stores and others sent in their measuremen...
ts) and were friendly and helpful.
They made getting our tuxes very easy for all different guys (short, tall, athletic, not so athletic). All our tuxes looked great and really well put together.
We used Formally Modern in Countryside. They were one of the more reasonable priced Tux Rentals and Carmelo was by far the friendliest and most helpful person we worked with. We hi...
ghly recommend Formally Modern for your tux rental needs!!
We can't recommend Dustin at Formally Modern Tuxedo highly enough. He helped us pick sharp navy suits for our extremely large bridal party and helped us to coordinate many out-of-...
state measurement orders. He made the process efficient and effortless. 10/10!
My fiance had only ever rented tuxedos, so when he decided to buy one for our wedding, we were a little nervous about cost. Formally Modern was very affordable and helped him find ...
a beautiful tux with all of the things he was looking for.
Wonderful! Easy to work with and our groomsmen looked great. All the suits were perfect.
We were incredibly pleased with our experience at Formally Modern Tuxedo (Schaumburg) and the amazing help provided by Matt! My husband and the groomsmen looked really great in the...
ir suits and the pick-up/drop-off process was seamless! We truly appreciated the final fittings the days before the wedding to ensure all the suits fit the guys well. We were even able to get our toddler ring bearer a matching navy blue suit! Would highly recommend visiting Matt at the Schaumburg location for all your wedding tux/suit needs!
Buttons and bow ties fell apart
We highly recommend working with Matt (Schaumburg location) at Formally Modern Tuxedo. He is passionate about his work, does a great job explaining all the details efficiently, and...
made sure the entire process was easy for all involved. The tuxes looked great on all our groomsmen, ring bearer, and fathers!
We used Formally Modern for a 3 piece-suit (not a tux) for my husband. We also decided to buy rather than rent. The experience and product were both excellent. My husband is not ex...
actly a social butterfly, but he loved Donnie and enjoyed their appointments together. Formally Modern really went above and beyond, including taking out the collar on my husband's dress shirt and sewing a new one on so that it would fit his (rather large) neck. All for no additional charge, because alterations are included! Great local option.
Excellent service and many alternative options to the traditional tuxedo. Anthony was very helpful.
We used the Orland Park location in IL for our June 2016 wedding and LOVED them! So easy to pick out GREAT quality Tuxes, even for my out-of-town groomsmen it was a breeze. Such a ...
better selection and prices compared to Men's Warehouse. All the guys looked PERFECT!
Formally Modern was easy to work with, all of their locations in Chicagoland helped as we had people from all over. They had plenty of options and could even dress our ringbearer....
My dad rented from them as well, depending on how many suits you rent you get some free.
We used Formally Modern for our guys for our November wedding. I loved the tuxes themselves! They all looked amazing and my groom was so incredibly handsome! But they were more ...
expensive than other places we looked at. However, their ivory vests, etc. matched my ivory dress from David's Bridal so it worked out okay. Their staff was friendly but kept mixing up my groomsmen and their sizes. They also kept switching one of our groomsman to the ring bearer every time we were in. I had to correct like 4 times. The tuxes looked great though so that was all worth it!
I was very pleased with Formally Modern. We worked mostly with Anthony in Schaumburg and he was very helpful. We got an amazing deal (definitely best value) and the service was g...
reat. There were a couple small hiccups with the measurements when some of the guys picked up but they altered the tuxedos on site and everything was perfect upon pick up. The only advice I would provide is make sure you right down the price you are quoted per tux because one of the employees tried to charge a groomsmen a different total however when we brought it to their attention they corrected the issue immediately. We also took advantage of the 50% off on invitations deal they offered and our invitations were a great price and turned out beautifully. Anthony worked with us to find something we liked within our budget. We received several compliments on the high quality invites.
We used the Formally Modern in Countryside, IL. It was a great value and the tuxes were beautiful. The only negative was I swore we went with a different color bowtie than the ones...
we were given for the groomsmen. Otherwise, Great value and Great service.
We used Formally Modern Tuxedo for our wedding party tuxes. They had a deal where if we rented a certain number of tuxes, that we got one free, so that made everything very afforda...
ble. They were less expensive that other vendors in Chicago that we had priced out and were very reliable; much more reliable and higher quality than other more nationally well-known tux rental vendors. They had all of the tuxes sized properly when picked up and it was very easy to drop them off after the wedding. I would recommend Formally Modern Tuxedo to anyone planning a wedding because of their reliability, quality tuxes, and affordability.
Very easy to work with and very convenient for all of our groomsman
Formally Modern provided tuxes for my July 2013 wedding and we were extremely pleased with the process, pricing, quality and service. Donnie was very helpful when we went to the s...
tore to look at options, he gave us a discount because we had a rather large bridal party (13 tuxes total) and the process for the guys to send in their measurements was easy (well, as easy as getting guys to do something!). The tuxes were very nice and the pickup process was quite easy. Overall great service. I'd highly recommend Formally Modern for your tux needs.
the employees there go above and beyond with thier service, we went in there about 12 different times and they were always soooooooo helpful.
All the guys rented their tuxs from the Orland Formally Modern and the service was always above par. We also ordered our Save the Dates/Invitations/Thank You's from the store. Th...
ey had so many selections and someone was always there to help with ordering. Great service!
We went with Formally Modern for the tuxes for our October wedding. Based on negative experiences my friends had with Men's Wearhouse and my impression from our appointments with F...
ormally Modern and Black Tie Formal Wear, Formally Modern's tuxes appeared the nicest of what we had seen, though they were the most expensive of the three. We received excellent customer service at the Chicago (Clybourn) store, and the staff were helpful not just in selecting the tuxes, but also with a few glitches we'd encountered with our wedding party in the months leading up to the event. Several of the tuxes were full of lint when they were picked up, and the guys were disappointed that the pants pockets were all sewn shut, but other than that the tuxes looked nice.
They have great incentives for renting multiple tuxes! Most of the staff at the Schaumburg location are extremely helpful and friendly. We had some minor issues with our rentals, b...
ut we were mildly compensated afterwards. I would use them again.
All of the guys involved in our wedding rented a tux from Formally Modern. They all looked very suave, and there weren't any problems picking up or returning the tuxes. When my F...
IL picked up his tux, it was too big, and they were able to fix it up right then. Great service, and great prices, with enough locations to make them convenient for everyone in our bridal party.
We worked w Shannon! Shes awesome! My invitations and tuxedos were beyond what I imagined to be perfect! The quality blew me out of the water! I strongly recommend them! They're pr...

Formally Modern is the best! We went to their new location in Countryside before they were officially open for business. They were still setting up, but the manager measured my f...
iance and set us with a rental agreement. The also offer a promotion where if you get tuxedos through them you get 50% off invitations. I was a little skeptical, but looking through their proof books, I was sold. We ordered the most beautiful invitations through Formally Modern. We received SO many compliments on our invitations, and the women that work there were so patience and helpful when it came time to selecting the fonts and wording. As far as tuxedos, they offer to pick up all of the guys' tuxedos from one location for a nominal fee, which is totally worth it so the guys are not worried about making back to the store the day after the celebration. The actual tuxedos were very clean and sharp looking! I could not be happier with the way my guys looked!
We LOVE FMT! Everyone there was absolutely amazing to work with. Really kind and helpful people who want you to be happy with what you get. We also got our invitations from here an...
d Veronica was a dream come true to work with. She helped us every step of the way when picking everything out. Donnie worked with my husband on finding the right jackets for everyone to wear and we loved talking with him. Sean and the others at both the Lincoln Park location and Schaumburg were great people. You will be so happy if you go with FMT! (Invitations were 50% off if you get tuxedos from them and the tuxes were ~$160/person.)
Most of the staff were nice & pleasant, but we did run in to a staff member that had a very bad attitude and was not very helpful. Also, the grooms & one of the grooms men's pants ...
broke when putting them on, so the had to safety pin them to last though the night. Not very happy with the overall experience with Formally Modern Tuxedo.
We got tuxes for my husband, the groomsmen and dads from FM Tuxedo. Their service was always friendly and professional. We really enjoyed trying on tuxes to figure out which style ...
we wanted. We got two tuxes free too! We also had a photo shoot done after the wedding and they gave us a super discounted price. The quality and selection of tuxes was wonderful. Everything was very classy.
FM Tuxedo operates like a mom 'n pop shop and that really let's them shine with customer service. At one point they lost my husband's measurements but they were professional about getting them redone quickly.
FM Tuxedo- I would recommend you invest in a small business inventory system or just develop an Excel tracking spreadsheet (I'm in Finance... sorry..) and it would really help your processes go faster. Even though you have a very manual/pen and paper style, it didn't deter from our experience at all. Just a thought for when you start booming like crazy, because that will probably be soon!
On a recommendation from friends who had gotten married a few years prior we decided to try Formally Modern and were beyond thrilled that we did. The guys in our wedding looked imp...
eccable, the groom especially. Everything fit perfectly including the custom tie we had made to order so that the groom would stand out that much more! Formally Modern in Lincoln Park is far and away the best when it comes to menswear and I wouldn't recommend anyone else!
Especially Anthony in the Aurora store--very easy and a pleasure to work with!
Don't waste your time with other tux places, especially stores that are more in the business of suits. The minute you walk in the store, you will be impressed with their presentat...
ion and number of options. They had the best looking brown tux in Chicagoland (Calvin Klein), and we were able to special order good looking brown dress shoes. They had a multitude of tie and vest options to coordinate with any bridesmaid dress color. They were also one of the cheapest rentals in Chicagoland.
Ok - so how many of you have had to rent tux's and the place was horrible? The tux's looked like you were going to prom not standing up in a wedding, they didn't fit, and the peop...
le working there really didn't care? Well you WILL NOT FIND THAT HERE!! When we got here and met Anthony we knew we were in the right place for us! The tux's were all great quality and age appropriate! The colors were never ending and Anthony had a Great attitude! You could really tell that he loved what he did! Not only did we get our tux's from Anthony we got all of our stationary and invitations too! He was a ton of help with the ordering process- but we knew he was going to be! We also bought our Groomsmen's gifts here too! Totally Fun cufflinks that all of our guys TOTALLY LOVED!!! Thanks Again for everything Anthony!! We will def be back!!!
Mark and Jessica Zauner
My husband got his tux here. He looked amazing in his tux and vest; they fit perfectly. However, he ended up wearing his own tie. Their selections were a bit lacking.

ff was awesome the day he was sized, but were obviously overwhelmed when he went back to try it on. It seems they were a bit understaffed at times.
Alex was fantastic and patient. The tuxes looked wonderful!
My husband and his party rented three tuxes. In the time between final measurements and trying on the tuxes to pick up, the store managed to pack the WRONG SHIRTS!! My husband ha...
d to wear his brothers shirt (which was to short), his brother had to PURCHASE a shirt on the way to the wedding. Will never recommend them to anyone.
We had a nice experience with Formally Modern Tuxedo in Aurora for our September 2011 wedding at the Westin in Lombard. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and we found a slim cut,...
contemporary tux that looked great on my husband and all the men in our bridal party. Any alterations needed were completed the day the guys picked up their tuxes while they waited in the shop, which was quick, easy and convenient for everyone! The only downside was that they did not have any rental ties or ties for purchase that matched my fuchsia bridesmaid dresses, but we were able to find some at the mall across the parking lot that matched perfectly. We also purchased our wedding invitations, response cards, and thank you cards from Formally Modern Tuxedo, which we absolutely loved (especially with the 50% discount promotion that was going on!). The price was excellent, we received them promptly, and everything turned out just like we wanted – we got a lot of compliments on the invitations! We were very happy with our overall experience with Formally Modern Tuxedo!
The first thing we loved about Formally Modern Tuxedo was the personal approach they took to everything. We never felt like a number to them. In fact, they seemed to remember me ...
every time I called! The whole process was very easy and fun. The tuxes were all perfect on our wedding day! We even got a discount on our invitations from them too! We worked with John and Janice at the Aurora branch. They were wonderful!
This place sold us right away because they took the time to help us find what we were looking for and gave their advice and suggestions on what they thought would work best. Only t...
hing was that my ring bearer had his tux bought for him instead of a rental and so when it came to picking up his rented accessories, they were not at the store location where the parents were told so it was a little out of the way to get it in time. Otherwise the service and the tuxes were great, my husband wore a tux with tails and he looked very handsome!!!
Formally Modern made everything easy. After picking out what we had wanted, everything else was taken care of. We let the guys know they needed to get measured and the pick up an...
d drop off was seamless.
They have a huge variety to choose from and the quality was there as well as the service.
The Orland park store was great! All my guys looked awesome! They were even able to switch out a tux size 2 days before the wedding when we had to replace the best man!
Nice tuxedo. My husband looked handsome. The only thing is his pants ripped...funny story and funny video that our great photographer (Rush) showed during reception.

aving the best price too. Even if you have out of area people in the wedding they can just enter their info online. When some of the guys went to pick up there tux one had the wrong colored vest and some others had ones that didn't fit right. Formally modern fixed the size differences that day and drove out to our house at 9:00pm the day before the wedding with the right color tux.
My husband and i were able to get great deals with them and we order our invitations through them as well. We received everything we wanted.
We used Formally Modern for our tuxes. If 5 tuxes were rented, then the grooms was free. There are several locations and the groomsmen could go to any of them. When the groom pi...
cked up the tux and tried it on, everything fit and it was all there.
We also got our invitations through Formally Modern. If you used them for tuxes, then you got 50% off of invitations. They had a large selection to choose from and we worked directly with the guy at Formally Modern to get them ordered.
Between the free tux and the 50% off invitations, it was a no brainer to us.
All of the tuxes fit, they looked great, they were all in on time!
We used them after seeing great reviews online. So happy we went with them as we got 50% off of ALL of our paper items for the wedding including place cards and thank you's! Tuxedo...
