We highly recommend Fred Astaire Dance Studio if you are looking to make your first dance special. We were able to perform our first dance both during our 2020 ceremony celebration and 2021 reception, and it was a surprise highlight for us and our guests both years. Katya was patient with us as we are not dancers and choreographed a great routine to the song we chose. Everyone at the studio was always friendly and kind as well.

Katya was the best dance teacher ever! She spent a few months with my now husband and I preparing for our first dance at our wedding! We came into our experience with a mix of danc...

e backgrounds, me: hip hop, tap, some jazz and my husband: all ballroom. We knew we wanted something choreographed, us, and not a "typical" first dance. Somehow Katya made it all happen. Not only did she give us new moves to learn, but she was patient, kind, joyful, and modeled everything and made us so excited to try it out. We both went outside of our comfort zone because she inspired us to do so! Katya spent extra time every single lesson making sure we left the studio feeling confident and clear, she wouldn't allow us to leave with confusion. She also brought other members of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio into our lessons to help us as well. Thank you to Nikita who also made parts of our dance unique! When it came time to actually have our first dance, my husband and I had the best time, felt so confident, and had FUN! Everyone told us how much they loved our dance and we were so proud! Thank you again, Katya. We will come back to learn more even though the wedding is over.

many compliments throughout the entirety of the night and have friends still talking about our dance a month after the wedding! Someone said it wasn’t a first dance, it was dancing with the stars! It was so unbelievably well thought out and every detail was so beautifully captured. The team was the absolute best to work with, so thoughtful, accommodating, and always full of energy! We had looked at so many dance studios in NYC, and could not be happier that we chose Fred Astaire Downtown. Everyone is truly a master in their craft and loves what they do. Thanks to the team, my husband developed a love for dancing that I didn't even know existed and has been asking me to sign up for more classes! We can't wait to be back!

signed on for five lessons to help us prepare for our frist dance at our wedding in May. After a listen-through of our song, they helped us cut the proper portion, design our own signature dance, and then help us tweak the dance until we had something uniquely our own. They made the entire process incredibly fun, and we truly enjoyed every second in the studio. They are such incredible dancers in their own right, so it was nice to watch them perform our dance, and then try our best to follow in their foot steps. What an incredible experience that made our first dance at our wedding all the more special.

s feel so comfortable and confident performing it. They even got me a large skirt to practice in to help mimic my wedding dress. All of the instructors at this studio are so much fun to work with and are so helpful. We learned a few dance styles in addition to our first dance so that we will have some moves to use throughout our whole reception. I would highly recommend this studio for all couples for their weddings as well as for anyone just interested in learning how to dance! It's so much fun!

The pictures and video from the big day came out absolutely beautiful; it was better than I could have ever imagined or hoped for—and it’s all thanks to them.
