When we took our first lesson with Kaylin, neither of us had taken any kind of dance class before and we weren't really sure what song or even what type of dance we wanted to do. K...
aylin got right to work, starting by helping us build strong dancing fundamentals and pick a first song–offering lots of suggestions to hone in on a song that felt like us, feel confident, and have fun while dancing.
We ended up taking 6 lessons with her. In each lesson she taught us new moves, refined what we had learned previously, and listened to any adjustments we wanted to make to the choreography. Throughout the process she was incredibly kind and thoughtful–always asking us for permission to dance with us before making physical contact, adapting our choreography to accommodate physical constraints (like reducing spins to prevent dizziness), and validating our choices so we felt confident in the dance we were making.
In our last lessons together, she also had really great input on our grand entrance–helping us choose a song and giving us tips on how to transition into our dance, which made everything flow smoothly on the wedding day. She even did a full dress rehearsal with us that helped keep our nerves in check on our special day.
It was awesome to go from having virtually no dance experience to feeling like we’d picked up a new hobby by the end. Kaylin took our wedding preparation seriously and in addition to ending up with a dance that us and our guests all absolutely loved, her support elevated other parts of our wedding day. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, professional, and personalized dance experience.
Came to Fred Astaire - Oceanside to get a few lessons under our belt before our first wedding dance. We both had very little expectations for ourselves and just wanted to get some...
practice in so we didn't look too stiff and awkward up there on "the big day". Um wow. Kaylin whipped us into shape in ... less than ten lessons? and choreographed a beautiful routine to our song. We also had the honor of taking a lesson with Kage who helped us work out the final bugs. Additionally, both of them gave amazing photography advice and overall wedding tips.
This studio is so much more than just "dance lessons". We were talked into attending and performing at the Halloween Showcase and I am so glad we did. The community is absolutely incredible and so supportive. We met several couples that found Fred Astaire for wedding dance lessons like we did, and continued their new-found hobby even after their wedding. I am so happy we chose this studio for our lessons - we had so much fun and truly see ourselves continuing lessons when the post-wedding chaos calms down.
My husband and I LOVEEEEE the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Oceanside!!!! It has brought us SO much joy and has made us even closer throughout our dance journey!
Our journey with t...
hem started because we wanted to have a fun choreographed first dance for our wedding but my husband was nervous about his dancing ability since he had never danced before, so we first decided to take some group dance classes at the Oceanside studio. We took, Salsa, Tango, Bachata, Two-Step, etc. for months and had the BEST time there! We looked forward to it every week due to the fun, encouraging atmosphere and insanely talented instructors - shoutout to the incredible Kage and Kaylin!!! - and we developed awesome relationships with the instructors and students there! We're even going to their upcoming studio Halloween Party soon :) Then we started taking private dance lessons with Kage (and a few times Kaylin as well) to choreograph and hone our dance. That one-on-one experience was INVALUABLE!! They have improved our dancing x1000 and we even felt comfortable enough to add a crazy flip trick at the end of our first dance! We are so happy with how our dance turned out and, while I have always considered myself a dancer of sorts, EVERYONE who has seen our dance can now say with certainty that my husband is a straight up DANCE KING now as well!
We can't wait to continue our dance journey at the studio with the group classes - we highly recommend checking them out - you WILL leave each class smiling, closer, and full of inner child joy! :D
My future husband and I decided to go with this studio because of the amazing reviews and more than fair pricing for our wedding first dance. I was a dancer for 15 years in ballet,...
jazz, and modern but haven’t danced in years, let alone ballroom danced. My fiancé has never danced but did MMA. This was incredibly helpful, but our biggest help was the spectacular instructor, Kage!!!! From the first lesson, he made us feel so comfortable and we just had so much fun going to each class. Our first dance is beyond my dreams and so extra and fun and we cannot wait to perform in front of our guests. We have so much amazing choreography that’s really going to WOW our guests and did it in just five lessons. Kage was creative (especially with our height difference), caring, funny and just overall everything we wanted in our instructor. Both my fiancé and I left our last lesson sad that it was the last and we definitely want to come back and learn more styles. Kage is seriously the best and I highly recommend him for your wedding first dance!!!!!
Thank you Kage!

onfident showing off our skills on our wedding day. I loved the choreography he came up with, and everyone at the wedding told us how great it looked.
We worked with the studio owner, Kage, to choreograph and teach us our first dance; he couldn't have been more helpful and enjoyable to work with! My fiance was especially nervous ...
about dancing, and Kage made him feel instantly comfortable. In just four 45-minute sessions, we have our full dance ready to go. We can't wait for our guests to see what we've prepared! I highly recommend Fred Astair dance studio for any of your wedding choreography needs, no matter what level of experience you have :)
My fiancé and I had little to no knowledge of how to dance properly. We wanted to do something more than the typical rock back forth for our first dance. We took 4 lessons with Kag...
e and it was the best decision we made during our wedding prep.
Kage was so helpful to creating a dance routine to our chosen song (Better Together by Jack Johnson) and meeting our needs and dreams for our first dance. Our guests were WOW’d by our first dance! Kage is a phenomenal instructors and clearly an expert at dance. The lessons were fun, insightful, and enjoyable. Even my fiancé, who was a little hesitant on taking lessons, loved every moment of it and was so thankful we didn’t just “wing” our first dance. As an added bonus, Kage even provided us with tips for poses for our photos, which ended up being some of our favorite photos from the day!
If you’re getting married, I highly recommend taking a few dance lessons with Kage - you’ll be so happy and grateful you did!

o accommodating on the lesson times as well. We came in exactly 1 week before the big day and were able to set up 3- 45 minute lessons. Plus an additional lesson for the groom and his mom. We are so glad we took the lessons, our guests were blown away with our moves! Thanks Khyla and Kaylee! (sorry if I spelled your names wrong)
An amazing staff that care about every person who walks in the door! They choreograph beautiful dances and helped me have a comfortable and exceptional experience! 10/10 recommend!
The teachers are dedicated and talented
They truly enjoy their job teaching
Kage, the owner is great and was extremely helpful teaching us to dance.

from having two left feet t actually feeling confident and having fun dancing. We are also learning how therapeutic it is to learn dancing. It’s brought us closer. Wedding or knot;), these people are amazing especially Ashley ;)
Ashley crafted a truly unique and lovely dance for our wedding! She understood our needs, interests, and dance experience perfectly. Every day was so much fun with her, and she is ...
the very best teacher for nervous first-time dancers - she makes you feel special in a way that boosts your confidence and makes you feel comfortable enough to try new things. We had such an amazing experience that we kept dancing at Fred Astaire in Oceanside through the rest of the year, and the next, and the next... Cannot recommend highly enough, and the rest of the team is equally amazing! <3 <3 <3

autiful dance for our first dance. We participated in the group classes and dance parties and got comfortable with ourselves and our dance. We even had a few opportunities to practice our first dance in front of audiences during the different shows the studio conducts - so we were comfortable dancing in front of our guests. We were even able to transfer some of our left over classes to family preparing for their wedding. I would recommend this studio and this experience to anyone!
