I’ll keep it simple: Friends & Neighbors made us the best food I’ve ever had. This isn’t hyperbolic. It’s been a few weeks since our wedding, and our friends are still ranting and raving over how good the food was! Our wedding night meal was chicken thigh, jeweled rice, and local vegetables. It had so much flavor, and the chicken was LITERALLY falling off the bone. I don’t know how they do it, but I sure am glad that they do. Aside from the food, they were unbelievably professional. Our point of contact, Braley, helped us with specific dietary requests and last minute changes. She couldn’t have been more kind and helpful. On the day of, everything went so smoothly you hardly noticed the team working hard in the background to keep food stocked. If you’re considering Friends & Neighbors for your event—stop. Just call and commit already!

Erin’s love for cooking began early — serving meals to family and friends long before she ever stepped into a professional kitchen. She received her first chef coat at just 13 years old and never looked back. After graduating from Davidson College with degrees in chemistry and religious studies, she followed her true calling and moved to Chicago with a box of cookbooks and a determination to master her craft. In Chicago, Erin refined her skills as a meat cook, saucier, and menu designer, developing a deep appreciation for thoughtful ingredients and intentional hospitality. With over 15 years of experience in the culinary industry, she has worked in both cook and chef roles at acclaimed restaurants including Daisies, The Publican, Table, Donkey and Stick, Cira, and Chef's Special Cocktail Bar.
David Toporek
Chef/Owner
David was raised in a family that owned and operated several restaurants, giving him a firsthand understanding of hospitality, teamwork, and the standards required in a professional kitchen. He later graduated from the culinary program at Sandhills Community College with a specialization in bread and pastry, where he developed a deep respect for technical precision and craftsmanship. David and Erin met while cooking at The Publican, a celebrated American beer hall in Chicago. During his time there and beyond, David worked alongside some of the industry’s most respected chefs, refining his approach to ingredient sourcing, flavor development, and classical European technique. With more than 13 years of experience, he is known for creating cuisine that feels both elevated and approachable.
Braley Adams
Event Coordinator
Braley will likely be the team member you communicate with most throughout your planning process. In addition to her role within our catering company, she also offers wedding coordination services for couples who want an extra layer of support on their big day — making her a seamless resource from first inquiry to final send-off. She and Erin met when they were 11 years old and always talked about opening a restaurant or inn together. Today, they’re grateful to be building that dream side by side, and their long-standing friendship brings trust and cohesion to the business. After earning her certification in baking and pastry in 2014, Braley spent more than six years living and working throughout Europe, refining her skills in professional kitchens and gaining a broader perspective on hospitality and cuisine. That experience, combined with her organizational strength and calm presence, makes her an essential part of delivering elevated wedding catering in Asheville, NC.

Good food was our most important “want” for our wedding, we didn’t want cookie cutter catering, we wanted something magical, special and memorable. Friends and Neighbors delivered ...

that for us and even now, 9 months later our guests STILL bring up to us how the dinner was their favorite part (admittedly.. it may have been ours too :p) From the beginning, we had a very constructive phone call with Braley to go over our ideal menu, which we then got to review less than 2 weeks after. We had multiple check in’s leading up to the day but it was easily the least stressful part of planning. Day of, they showed up, beautifully decorated the tables, laid out our custom menu cards, spoke to each dish and wine pairing (definitely add this on if you can!) and then cleaned up in the blink of an eye. I know they can also easily cater to large groups but if you’re planning on an intimate setting like we did with our 23 closest friends and family, I truly cannot recommend them enough.

ing. They curated a perfect menu for us full of fresh seasonal dishes, and we had tons of guests comment that it was the best meal they had ever had at a wedding. Erin & David also gave us the opportunity to do an intimate menu tasting with our families a few months prior to our wedding to choose our final menu, which was such a special experience. My husband and I still talk about how amazing the food was, and how grateful we are to have worked with Friends & Neighbors. Truly- cannot say enough good things!
