Function 45

My husband and I got married at Scribner Bend this past weekend. Hiring Steve as the DJ/MC for our wedding was one of the best choices we could have made. Steve guided us throughout the planning process. He asked us what our goals and priorities were, and made excellent suggestions on how to make that happen. For example, we wanted all of our guests to be engaged and a part of the celebration, and his idea to have tables "dance to the buffet line" achieved that perfectly. The "social media moment" at the altar lightened the mood and was super fun. He helped us write funny introductions to celebrate the wedding party. The photo booth was a big hit, and we're looking forward to watching the video messages that our guests recorded after taking their photos. Finally, his suggestion for the bridal bouquet toss to be a "toss for luck" got so many more of our guests involved than the traditional bouquet toss. The sound setup was absolutely perfect. For the ceremony, my husband and our officiant were wearing microphones on their lapels. Our guests specifically commented that they could hear every word of the ceremony, which isn't always the case during weddings. During the cocktail hour and reception, music could be heard throughout the venue. The toasts were also well heard, thanks to the microphone at the head table. It's obvious that Steve has a ton of experience at our venue, and knew exactly how to make the sound perfect all evening. Steve helped make our wedding day to be as special as it was. Our guests had a wonderful time, and a lot of that credit goes to him. We highly recommend him for anyone looking for a wedding DJ.

When you are looking for a DJ, I honestly feel like it’s worth to spend the extra $$$, as they control the vibe for the entire wedding. Steve is phenomenal and worth every cent!! His communication is excellent and he had great ideas that made my wedding extremely unique to others. I had people tell us days after the wedding how amazing of a DJ Steve was. Major praise for DJ Steve! He is very professional and experienced, while also making the wedding planning process fun! My wife and I are low-key, not “life of the party” kind of people so Steve was instrumental in making our wedding a blast. He was honest about what would and would not work given the size of our wedding, vibe, and preferences, but listened to us and let us call the shots. Steve is definitely well known in the Sacramento wedding scene, as our officiant, photographer, and videographer all knew him from past events. We highly recommend Steve for your next event!

We had Steve for our wedding in November 2022, and we could not have asked for a better DJ. Our guests had so much fun with him, and he got everyone out of their chairs and on to the dance floor; even my great aunt :-) I had friends and other vendors coming up to me the whole night saying how much fun they are having. He created an amazing atmosphere where everyone became comfortable with each other, and he got everyone to dance together. Steve was great to work with through the entire planning process, and gave us a lot of great suggestions that we used, and even surprised us with some some things the day of the wedding. STEVE IS WORTH A MILLION BUCKS. It’s been almost a week since our wedding and we are still getting praises about him. Not only does he know how to keep the party going but he really gets to know his couples and the vibe of their wedding. He suggested announcing our tables by songs to the buffet table and by the third table we had a dancing completion to the buffett tables on our hands. All brides needs a DJ like Steve on their wedding day. He really brings the magic and fun that all weddings should have. We will be using Steve for all our upcoming events from now on! Wow, Steve at Function 45 was a wonderful time! After a terrible COVID experience with my previous DJ's falling through due to not being able to accomodate my date changes, I got in touch with Steve and he made for a memorable night! Everything went smooth and a great amount of people danced until the very end of our wedding night! One thing I wanted to call out that was unexpected but such a great addition was his music playing for the guests to be excused to get their food at the buffet and this is why: Each of my tables had a theme of a country my husband and I traveled to and for each table he excused, he played a love song that resonated with that country (like That's Amoré for Italy). WOW! What a fun surprise and guests noticed. I highly recommend Steve for your events. He knows how to throw a great party!

Steve was amazing! He was so fun and kept the party going all night long. His transitions between activities was seamless and the social media minute was so unique and memorable. I’ve never seen such a talented and professional DJ - definitely recommend!

My wife and I had planned our wedding 3 different times and Covid threw a wrench into those plans every single time. Steve was extremely communicative and encouraging with ideas and adaptations he would do to keep the train moving. 3 days out we found out our venue had been shutdown. We ended up having to plan, prepare and host a ceremony and reception at my wife's parents backyard on a 3 days notice. Steve was so accommodating and willing to fulfill his commitment no matter what situation had happened. On the day, Steve and his assistant did an awesome job, we got so many compliments from our guests. Steve was so sweet and thoughtful, knowing what hurdles we had been going through, he surprised us with backlighting as a kind gesture and the ultimate cherry on top was the day after the wedding he emailed us the audio to our vows. As much as people think the wedding planner keeps the wheels going on the day of. I feel the DJ is the most important person on the day of to keep the wheels going and most importantly going on TIME. Steve did a great job on keeping people and quests on track, he smoothly transitioned so delicately and entertainingly at the same time. He was so personable, professional and silly, his energy was a highlight of the wedding and it was felt by us and our guests.

Steve from Function 45 was a huge hit at our wedding! He was so wonderful working with my husband and I during the planning process to really get to know us as a couple and get a better idea of how he could bring the energy and fun on our wedding day. Our guests were mostly and older crowd that we did not anticipate would dance much at all. Steve did an amazing job getting the party going in a fun and light hearted way!

He had such great energy and sitting down and talking with him made it all the more clear that he would be the perfect DJ/MC to keep the party going at our wedding. When we had our sit down meeting with Steve, he helped incorporate all of our ideas and favorite songs we wanted and had some great ideas to help us make our special day unique and entertaining for our guests. When the big day came, Steve and his assistant were timely and ready to execute the plan we had put together. His energy and vibe were fantastic and set the tone for a beautiful ceremony followed by a fun filled reception. The dance floor stayed full the entire night and we and our guests had an amazing time. We got so many compliments that night and the days following our wedding that it felt like a party and was one of the best weddings they had ever been to and a majority of that credit goes to Steve & Function 45. Where can I start about Function 45... We decided to hire Steve for our wedding entertainment after talking with him and three other different DJs. We connected with him right away, and his pricing was reasonable. Not too cheap to make you worry why it was indeed so inexpensive, but also not too expensive to make you shake your head and hide your wallet. As soon as we booked with Steve, he gave us some worksheets to think about different songs and items he will be looking for once we meet a month and a half before the wedding. We arrived at his office once that day came, which is nicely decorated and super comfortable. He was well-prepared and asked all of the right questions just to get a feel for who we are as a couple and what kind of feel we wanted for our big day. After we exchanged ideas and planned the timeline for the day, we felt super comfortable and knew he would be able to execute it with no problem. Steve and his assistant arrived timely on the big day and had everything set up on time and with such ease. He didn't even need to ask us anything because he was so prepared. Everything went according to timeline as discussed, as if we had just met the day before. We got so many compliments about him and how our DJ was so good and really got the crowd going! We loved that he was open to requests - and our guests really loved that too! It made it more fun and interesting, instead of having people wait around for a song they like before coming out to the dance floor. A million thank yous to Steve & Function 45 for a flawless event. Steve was absolutely amazing for our wedding a few weeks ago! We had a small wedding (45 people), so it was super important to us to hire someone who would lead the party and not let it die down. He easily accomplished that! He had so many ways to make it fun for everyone and personalize the experience to what my husband and I wanted. I highly recommend Steve!

Steve was recommended to me by my coworker and friend, after he had done her sister's wedding and her own upcoming wedding. Even just over the phone I could tell Steve put tremendous energy and thought into everything he did, and it was going to be a great fit. In June, I attended the coworker's wedding, which was the most fun I had ever had at a wedding (largely thanks to Steve). Before our big day, Steve and I met to plan out everything, and he drove all the way to Livermore to check out my venue. He had so many great ideas that I never would have thought of, including doing a bouquet toss "for luck" instead of only for single ladies. He also was open to incorporating French songs, as we were having multicultural guests. Steve arrived super early and super prepared. Countless people have approached me after the wedding to ask who he was or for his contact details, because he kept everything moving and made the night so fun and special. Steve worked with us through a few consultations and really made sure that our reception was exactly what we wanted. He also had some awesome ideas about how to keep our wedding running smoothly and make our guests feel included. For example, he helped us with personalizing our introductions for our wedding party, making them hilarious and setting the tone for a fun reception. Steve is easy to work with, a ton of fun, and made our wedding exactly what we hoped for. Highly recommend!!!

Truly the best in the business! My wife and I interviewed a couple other DJs/MCs, but couldn't find what we were looking for until we found Steve. Every DJ can play good music, but to be able to manage and entertain the crowd is a whole different ball game. Our goal from the beginning was to make sure everyone had a blast and enjoyed the wedding. To do that, Steve engaged everyone on the dance floor. My wife and I didn't leave the dance floor once! It's been almost 2 weeks since our wedding and guests are still texting or posting on social media how much fun they had and how much they liked our DJ! THE BEST DJ YOU WILL EVER MEET!! Steve is incredibly talented at what he does! You have to meet this man! My Husband and I contacted Steve early on, when we were planning our destination wedding to Park Winters for July 31, 2016. Being miles away in Alberta, we initially thought it would be fairly tricky to secure and book our Vendors from a distance. Not at all! We bonded with Steve right away over the phone and had several conversations to cover all the important details. It was all executed perfectly. He also took on the additional role as our MC, and was not only thrilled to do so, he was absolutely phenomenal at it! Our guests loved him! Throughout the dance, he read our crowd to a T, and had 28 people dancing for 2.5 hrs!!!!! It was amazing and incredibly fun! Our pictures are absolutely priceless, as they captured everyone’s pure joy! Be sure to ask him about the Decades Dance, as this helped everyone get right in to party mode). Also, the Uplighting and Letter Monograming he provides is gorgeous and looked so elegant. Our guests have told us over and over how awesome our DJ was, and his reviews online are fantastic for a reason! He has mastered his skill and I hope you are lucky enough to have him as your DJ/MC! We worked with both Nick and Steve for our wedding this Labor Day weekend and everything was phenomenal. Nick was our DJ and Emcee and did a fantastic job playing music that got everyone on the dance floor and a spontaneous group sing-a-long to Bohemian Rhapsody. He really took time to get to know and our preferences and did a great job reading the crowd. We also worked with Function45 for our photo booth and lighting in the reception space. Both were excellent. The lighting really captured the vibe we were going for and the photo booth pictures turned out really well and gave folks who needed a break from all the dancing something fun to do. We would highly recommend Function45 to anyone who needed DJ, Emcee, lighting, and photo booth services for any occasion.

Jeff did an incredible job at our wedding and helped everything run smoothly! He kept our guests engaged in what was going on and kept things light and fun! We got so many compliments about his work! We couldn't have asked for a better dj!

As soon as my husband and I met Steve and his Wife we hit it off. After our first meeting with them, we left and I told y husband he is the one! We have to book him no matter what!Our guests at our wedding have not stopped talking about how much fun our wedding was. They said they were on the edge of their seat and could not wait to see what the next thing was that was planned. They enjoyed being apart of the wedding not just there to attend it! Steve kept the night alive we had about 95% of our guests still at our wedding by the end of the night which is very unusual at most weddings. Our families have not stopped saying how he was worth every single dime we paid for him plus more. They have not been to such fun Party! I could not thank Steve enough for how amazing he is and all the special touches he did for us.

We could not have been happier with Steve! We enjoyed working with him in the pre-meetings and he absolutely 'got' our Vision. He even had some great ideas that absolutely improved our wedding (no spoilers - I'll let him surprise you ;) ). Day-of he nailed it - he adeptly wrangled the guests as well as the wedding party, served as an adept Master of Ceremonies, kept us on schedule and really got the party going when the dancing started. He juggled our disparate musical requests and had both 'adults' and 'kids' dancing alongside each other. STEVE SCHON IS THE BEST DJ/MC/ENTERTAINER/EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN!!!!!! I cannot stress enough how much a DJ can make or break a wedding. This guy was the best!!!! He kept the crowd entertained while they waited for us to do the grand entrance. He gave us great tips for the grand entrance skits. He was lively and brought two different cultures together! During the wedding planning process I felt like I was alone in the stress. I felt like my sister and I were the only ones that was really worried about the little things and making sure everything was taken care of (naturally my groom was having fun with his boys!). What scared me was my sister was my maid of honor so she was going to be busy up front at the head table with me and we wouldn't be able to do damage control when needed. When I saw what Steve started at the reception I knew I could let go. I finally felt like I had someone that had my back and my sister and I felt like we could actually let loose. We didn't have to worry about the time line for the evening because Steve worked with our venue (Arden Hills) and they did everything for us. Between Steve and my wedding coordinator at Arden Hills I was stress free during the actual event. Steve was so great and worth every penny. Knowing what I know about Steve and what I witnessed, I would have paid 3x his rate. He is affordable, versatile, and a pure genius. I had people coming up to me during and after the wedding raving about him! The crowd loved him. He was truly a vital part of our wedding. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HAVING A CONSULTATION WITH FIRST HIM BECAUSE ONCE YOU MEET HIM YOU WILL NOT WANT ANYONE ELSE!!! Plus, you don't have to waste your time with the others ;-)

Steve was FANTASTIC! He kept the wedding going, and people Partied! We get comments often about how much fun our wedding was, and that it was the funnest wedding they had been too, and it was in HUGE part to this company, and Steve's awesomeness! Of course he costs a little more than we wanted to pay, but Man, It was totally worth EVERY penny. We LOVE Steve, and wish he could be our Uncle, and come to all family functions. He is the BEST!

I was a little hesitant when we went to book Steve (my husband wasn't), but Steve seemed so laid back and I felt like he wasn't writing anything down or organized, turns out, he's just been doing this so long he knows it like the back of his hand. I received so many compliments on him as our DJ, he kept the day moving along so well and was so professional. We also used this company for our photobooth, it was a huge photobooth that would fit almost 10 people, and he brought props for no additional cost. Great guy, great company, I'd definately recommend him.

Steve at Function 45 is the absolute best! He got to know us and what we were looking for before the wedding, had ideas that would keep everyone involved throughout the night, had everyone up dancing, and is an amazingly nice guy. We continue to get comments about what a fantastic MC he was...definitely more than just a DJ - he ran the evening flawlessly and had everyone enjoying themselves. I can't say enough good things about Steve and Function 45!

Our DJ, Steve was AMAZING!!! He was willing to give us what we wanted and never tried to sell us unneeded extras! He was amazing and was very true to his word. He always said that a memorable wedding is not about the stuff you have but about the emotion that you evoke in the guests. Steve did a great job making this a memorable event. I still have guests asking me about Steve because he did such an amazing job and they were so impressed! Having worked at our venue many times before, he knew what needed to be done, who he was working with and how things ran. He kept our event flowing and I never had to ask him to do anything! The one time I went to remind him to do something, he finished my sentence because he had already knew to make the announcement! He truly was an amazing DJ and did what we asked and so much more. I worried about hiring a DJ because I didn't want some cheesy company to come in and make the wedding into a circus. But Steve was classy and played the music we liked and was so much more than what i could have hoped for. Steve not only did our music for the ceremony, and reception, he was our lighting guy as well. He did an amazing job adding lights that really made the room pop and made my cake stand out. When planning our wedding we knew that Steve at Function 45 was the only option as our MC/ DJ. Steve has been the DJ at 4 of Michael's siblings weddings and has always received rave reviews! Steve was great, he helped us plan our reception and wedding music and made sure it would be fun for all of our guests. I cannot count how many of our guests have given us compliments on how great Steve was and how much fun they had! I have already and will continue to recommend Steve and Function 45 to all of our friends and family! We will definitely be sticking with Steve for all of our future events!

We absolutly love Steve! We just got married on June 4th 2011 and Steve made our day perfect!!! YOu have to have a great dj that involves your guest. Steve does that. He will have everyone on the dance floor, even those that never dance. Steve cares about your wedding and wants to personalize everyones wedding. He has great add ons he does. Like he will personalize your first dance song. This was a huge hit at or wedding, he has the option of a photo show, another huge hit. Oh ya and you got to have some up lighting. Steve is such a great dj and I would recomend him as a dj.

He meet with us a few times and walked us through the planning process so that he made sure we has exactly what we wanted. For our first dance, we really liked a song but were going to take it off the list cause we didn't like a few parts. He edited the song and faded out the part we didn't like so that we could dance to a song that we loved without any of the stuff that we didn't. He was great. He keep the entire room on the dance floor and kept them moving. He kept the entire reception flowing... Absolutely fantastic. I would HIGHLY recommend.

He was an amazing MC... got everyone out on the dance floor and involved. we paid extra for a slide show that he put together with music and added a video clip of us from the ceremony (and showed the slide show during the reception!) We got to keep the dvd and it's so fun to watch.;he was expensive, but worth it.

They provided the ceremony music as well as the DJ for the reception. They were curtious and extrememly easy to work with.
