Christine and Cate from Gals and Ghouls did a gorgeous job on my makeup and all of my bridal party. They gave me exactly what I was looking for, which was a more natural look with just a bit of pizzazz since I don't normally wear makeup.

Brides beware!! They are very slow to respond and communicate expectations poorly. Their cancellation policy is 72 hours once the contract is signed and they seemingly intentionally do not respond in a timely manner within the cancellation wind...
ow. Once outside of the cancellation window they were more responsive, however rude and unwilling to flex on their policy even after citing reasons why I was uncomfortable moving forward with their hair services, and willingness to work with them before deciding to cancel (the result was not what I wanted and I communicated this within 24 hours to them). I was dissatisfied with the hair trial for my wedding, which was voiced during the trial and dismissed, and now I am stuck with a non-refundable deposit because of their poor communication practices. I politely requested the difference of the deposit and trial services refunded to me, and was met with extreme defensiveness. Be careful when referencing their “not normal business hours” approach, because they will use this to say that just about any time that you contact them does not fall within that time frame.
This is the main concern, I had high hopes and excitement for their services based on previous reviews, and was incredibly disappointed with the way they do business.
Aside from that, Kaity who did my makeup was absolutely incredible. I started with wanting “natural but amp-ed up” and then realized I liked a lot more glam. She listened and provided advice, gave me exactly like my inspiration, and the makeup lasted all day – even after a gym workout. If you are confident in your services and need no changes, this make-up is worth it.

me, we did apologize both in emails and on the phone for our responses not be as fast as you were hoping for. As a small business, we have limited resources and do not have office hours, and we always ask for 2-3 business days to respond on our website's connect page.
Regarding your hair trial, we understand that it was not what you were hoping for, but our stylist provided the service you requested, and you did not express your dissatisfaction during the trial. There was a miscommunication, and the stylist left thinking that you were happy with the style. Our response regarding your dissatisfaction with trial took less then 48 hours and was due to our Administrative Assistant being out of town for one day as well as reaching out to us and your hairstylist to understand what happened at your hair trial.
We have never been rude or nasty to you, and we have always been willing to work with you within the boundaries of our contract. We were willing to offer you a steeply discounted trial as well as the option to cancel just the hair services and continue with the makeup services, but you wanted to bend and break the rules, which we could not accommodate. Stating dissatisfaction with services does not count as a formal request for cancellation, and we cannot make exceptions to our contract as we have to protect our team members' livelihood. We would also like to clarify that our cancellation policy is clearly stated in our contract, which you signed, and it is our responsibility to uphold it.
We are disappointed that your experience did not meet your expectations and that you feel undervalued as a customer. We are a small business, and we take our clients' satisfaction seriously and will make changes based on your feedback. We are confident that you will find a hair and makeup team that will be a better match for you and wish you nothing but the absolute best.

Application of the makeup was just as great, making sure to make my dream look work for my face. My hair and makeup lasted the entire day/night, through one of the craziest rainstorms I've ever seen.

I used Gals & Ghouls for my recent wedding. We had 9 adults and 1 child for hair and makeup. I appreciated that they brought 3 stylists so we could get done in the amount of time I asked for, rather than having to start at 7am on my wedding day...
and be exhausted. They were very sweet and accommodated the last minute addition of my step daughter, as well as another out of town wedding guest who asked if she could join. They listened to all my preferences, adjusted makeup coverage and colors to suit each person, and made everyone look like a million bucks. The airbrush makeup stayed all day and into he night with no smudging/caking/fading. The team was a joy to work with and I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting "natural glam", easy communication, friendly stylists, on time finish, and a stress free wedding day! They came all the way to my house early in the morning so that I could make it to the shower on time in the opposite direction. Everyone loved how it all turned out....
& while I did too, I decided last minute to actually change both styles for my hair & makeup just days before the wedding. They were very accommodating, offered great advice & it turned out better than I could have imagined. I had 3 of my bridesmaids get makeup done, and 6 do their hair. These ladies came to our hotel on wedding day to get us ready & even with that many girls, they stayed ahead of schedule the entire time. Everyone loved how their looks turned out!! I am dying to get my pictures back to brag about just how awesome it all looked! They were very responsive to any questions and all my emails. Payments were simple. & the stylists were so much fun to talk to while getting us ready as well!
I am so glad I found them & that they were available. These ladies will be very highly recommended by me.

While the women of this company were more than pleasant to work with during my hair and makeup trial, that went out the window the day of our wedding.

a schedule for my bridesmaids as to when their appointment time would be. Each girl took MAYBE 15-20 minutes (definitely not an hour). Because of this the two bridesmaids we had showing up later in the morning for hair (one a brand new mom, one a very pregnant bridesmaid) were not able to get their hair done because they had another apparently more important wedding party to get to. According to our contract they were supposed to be with our group from 7:45am to 1:30pm and when they arrived to my surprise they said they had to be gone by 10:30am. Three hours early. My sister and maid-of-honor who had more than enough responsibilities that day, had to run to the store to buy heating tools in order to do their hair for them when they arrived.
In addition, while it was a hot day - high 80s and humid - my makeup completely sweat off within only an hour of application. $80 for air-brush makeup that was completely gone (except for lashes) by the time we made it to the venue.
I was not given a refund for the women who did not have their services performed and quite frankly not offered a good enough apology. This was an incredibly stressful day and for this to be the first thing we had to deal with in the morning was beyond frustrating and really overwhelming. While I understand in order to make money as a freelance artist you have to book multiple events in a weekend but they made me as their client feel undervalued and unimportant. It was more about the money than actually taking the time to do a good job and offering a positive experience.
In addition, two of the women who did have their hair done eventually had to re-do it before the ceremony because of it not being secure enough with bobby pins, but looked crunchy from hairspray. Just a bit of an amateur move and not at all what I had experienced in my trial.
I received an email a few days after the wedding saying congratulations and they'd be sending over a link for me to review them. Being the smart women they are, they never sent me that link, I think fully aware I would not have positive things to say.
Overall I was incredibly disappointed with the company, especially because I wanted to support a women-run business. In my opinion you can definitely find another company that will put you as the bride first and make you feel valued as a customer.

We do wish these concerns had been brought to us directly, before negatively reviewing us, as we would have done everything necessary to resolve this. All of our clients are equally as important to us, if we did not show that again, we are truly sorry. No bride should have a less than stellar experience on their wedding day.
While this is extremely upsetting, we will absolutely be making changes to our contracts as well as how day of is handled on our end. Our contract does not guarantee a timeframe as we are hired and contracted to complete the agreed upon number of makeups. We are not contracted for a specified time, we apologize if this was not clear. In regards to the review link, we allow a few weeks between when we send the thank you and when we send the links. This was not intentional as we are accepting and open to all feedback. This is extremely important to us so we can make any internal changes necessary to ensure we continuously meet our clients expectations and then some.

I felt like they took their time and listened to all the requests from me and my bridesmaid's and our hair and makeup ended up looking wonderful! I have never had makeup stay on my face a whole night let alone a whole day/night together but their makeup lasted and looked beautiful through the last dance. I also have very (VERY) sensitive skin but the products they used caused no reaction, redness, or itchiness on my skin. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day! The hair stylist also did an amazing job. I had asked for a more loose braided up do and she did a great job in creating what I wanted. Throughout the entire process (from April to August) they were quick to answer questions I asked and make any accommodations that I had requested. The groom also gave the hair and makeup a thumbs up!
