Working with the Galveston Historical Foundation to help secure our venue, the legendary 1859 Ashton Villa was a breeze and thrilled that the resources support the upkeep of such a...
n important historical building. The Foundation was incredibly easy and fun to work with and we cannot imagine getting married anywhere else. Thank you! - Kelci and Joseph Z.
Lauraleigh was amazing to work with in booking Ashton Villa for our wedding. We had to postpone several times and each time she was extremely helpful and easy to work with to get t...
he dates moved. Ashton Villa was a great event space and we loved the layout and know our pictures will be fantastic! Thank you Lauraleigh for helping make our day so special!
We used the Menard house/hall, St. Jospeh's Church and Garden Verein on our wedding day. Everything was perfect. The facilities were clean and ready for us when we got there. They ...
were very responsive during the process too!
They were fabulous to work with and available to fill any request we had, or question. Highly recommend them the facilities speak for themselves and are gorgeous.
We have reserved The Tall Ship Elissa For September Wedding
So far all is going well
We're so excited
Had our wedding at the Garten Verein historical building, and it was perfect. Outside is a public park where we held the ceremony, and inside the reception. It is the perfect amoun...
t of space, and they are very attentive with anything you need! Gorgeous venue!!!!
The space was so incredibly beautiful, but dealing with their staff is the absolute worst. There's one girl in charge of doing all of the rentals for the historical district in Gal...
veston, and she is ridiculously hard to get a hold of. If you do get a hold of her, ask her everything you want to know right away because chances of her getting back to you any time again soon are slim to none. On my big day, the venue was still locked when I was supposed to be getting in. The woman who was supposed to be there to open it was late, and then proceeded to be the worst ever. She did not take the time to learn my name, and instead yelled "bride" at me all night. I found this very unprofessional since I was paying thousands of dollars to rent a space, the least she could do would be to look at the paperwork and learn my name. She was completely rude. She yelled at my guests for not dancing. She continuously try to insert herself into my wedding. She told people she was my wedding coordinator, when she was definitely not. She was the worst. Even just down to little things like I asked her not to turn the ballroom light out. She waited until I walked outside, and then turned them out. If I could have had the space without her, and could have booked it with someone that actually answered my emails or calls then I would give the place five stars. Space and price were right. Staff was just not on point.
Beautiful venue but very crowded and bad customer service. I had 200 guests and the tables were so close together it was hard to walk between them plus the dance floor was small so...
the dj had to be on the other side of the room which wasn't as good as having him right by the dance floor with the speakers and lights. Cici the lady who was supposed to meet us upon arriving and lead us up the stairs for our grand entrance was nowhere to be found and the groom and I had to figure out where to go ourselves. She also didn't turn off the lights because we couldn't find her to do so so through the entrance and our first dance the rooms lights were on and it ruined the romantic atmosphere. Wouldn't recommend it was kind of a pain in the butt dealing with them.
Rachael the event coordinator is amazing! The venue is absolutely stunning! Our ceremony was going to be outside but a storm came in so we had to move it inside. Rachael made sure ...
we had everything we needed the night before to reset the inside. Couldn't ask for a better venue!
The venue was fantastic. AC is brand new, so the place never got hot with 150+ people in it. The scenery is the best, if you're looking to have a summer wedding, this is definitely...
the place for you. Beautiful Greens, with so many bright flowers around, the grass looked like it was freshly cut and to my surprise it was not unbearably hot. Lots of shade provided by all of the trees. It was an adult event and we didn't have anyone hounding us. Large dancing space, they provide the tables and chairs for dining but if you're looking to have an outside ceremony be prepared to rent chairs.
My husband booked the Garten Verein for us shortly after we got engaged. The venue itself is beautiful, the historical society was helpful and kind throughout the entire process. T...
hey were present the day of and worked with us on last minute preparations and my wedding was amazing! Downside to it is that Galveston does have some shady areas and we did have one car that was broken into. Just make sure to let your guests know to be aware of their surroundings and lock their car and hide their things.
We had our wedding reception here. Everyone commented on how perfect it was and the Historical Society was very easy to work with.
The venue fit our budget and and theme! I loved the chandeliers, it gave such an elegant feel to the reception.
They were okay. We wound up using someone else.
Our wedding at Ashton Villa was beautiful, but could have been improved if the Historical Foundation actually kept up with the grounds and building. The bushes, trees, grass were a...
ll overgrown despite them assuring me it would be taken care of before the wedding. There was trash randomly sprawled across the lawn and the uneven pavers in the gazebo weren't exactly pleasing! This home has so much history and is a natural beauty before all of the decorations, it really is a shame they let this house go as far as paint and cleaning. Don't let this review discourage you, if you are looking into it, just be mindful of these issues.
The tasting was fun and so hard to pick because they were all so good!
I loved the outdoor area we had the ceremony at and loved that it was a short walk into the ballroom for the reception. Ashton Villa does provide tables and chairs INSIDE but we ha...
d to rent chairs for outside. The rest is up to you which offers endless amounts of personalization and customization. But it might have been nicer to have a few more "freebies" like table clothes. The lady who does the rental paperwork is not pleasant to work with. She is not the most professional and does not provide much information upfront.
Beautiful !!!
The venue is beautiful inside and out! No need for decorations on the inside or the outside. The lady in charge of the venue, Vicki Amundsen is awesome. She was very helpful the en...
tire way. The staff who were available on the wedding day were polite and answered any and all questions. The deal was too good to be true. All of the guests commented on the building. I used it as a wedding and reception venue, but many brides just use it as a reception. I love it! If I had to do it all over again, I'd use the Garten Verein.
The building is beautiful, and in a good location next to mansions, and a park is at the same location. The rental came with tables and chairs, and was 7 hours I believe. You can a...
lso rent it the night before to have a run through, but I opted out. The historical society was easy to work with, and the day was just wonderful!
The venue is beautiful, they let you bring everything in, and they just got new chairs so we didn't need chair covers.
The Garten Verein is pricey, but it is a beautiful background for pictures.
Vicky was fantastic to work with. Everyone loved the house and kept saying how our reception was the best one they ever went to.
At first my, then fiancé, and I were a little bit reluctant about choosing this venue. During the day, it seems a little bit lackluster. Our reception was at night and with the rig...
ht lighting, the building came alive! We didn't overdue the decorations and let the character from it's 1800s architecture speak for itself. We were able to bring in our own vendors which saved us a ton of money! It was a little complicated to coordinate with the historical foundation, but overall we made the best decision by choosing to hold our reception there.
The Garten Verein was easy to work with and always available for meetings and questions. The staff was very nice and helpful as well. No complaints!
It was so elegant and beautiful. Vicki was a god-send and she answered every one of my questions and helped me out so much with the wedding and reception.
everything was excellent! i was very impressed with service and quality. the value was a little pricey though
antique part of galveston, so its very special and a pretty place to hold a wedding
This place is beautiful. I did not use it for my wedding because of the location, but if you dont mind the drive, I attended a wedding there and it was great!
Great Venue!
Ashton Villa was absolutely spectacular. The entire first floor has been refurbished since Ike. It's simply beautiful and elegant. Everyone was in awe at the site of the mansion...
!
I used Ashton Villa for my Ceremony and Reception. The place is huge and there are several options for the ceremony. When you rent Ashton Villa you get to also use their yard that ...
includes a beautiful gazebo that is covered in lights. It comes on when the sun goes down. You are also half a mile from the beach so guests that are from out of town can make it a vacation.
The venue was beautiful! We had an outdoor wedding at the pergola, and the reception inside. The director was wonderful to work with. We had some issues the wedding day with the ve...
nue event personell, she wanted to rush us out and told my guests to clean up and stack chairs. This was over an hour before the end of my reception! I did report this and an apology was given, and that they would be sure it did not happen again. But overall it was a huge hit with everyone there.
I first saw the Garten Verein in 2009 for the annual Galveston Historical Society's Mother's Day Brunch. It was love at first site. I had originally wanted to get married in my hom...
etown of San Diego at the Hotel Del Coronado, but couldn't afford it. The Garten Verein is a great price for someone looking for an older venue. The hardwood floors, period lights and 12 foot windows are beautiful. The new paint outside was a welcome surprise that was finished in the summer of 2010 right before our wedding. We had around 100 attendants with plenty of extra room for more. Many guests from Houston and California complimented on how pretty the site was. For my wedding I wanted beautiful, older site with romantic feel and I got just that! When I paid for the site it was $2,000 for 7 hours total (that included set up/down), chairs and tables for 200 ppl inside (they cannot be moved outside for the ceremony), and only $50 more an hour to add time.
The view was breathtaking!!! The ambiance was spectacular!;If you want a large wedding (300+) your dance floor won't be huge but an okay size.
I loved that it's located inside a park. We had the ceremony outside under an arch. Inside the space was large and has that old world feel because it was a pavilion built in the 1...
890's.;They charge you for any extra time you need for clean up and set up. They also charge for the chairs and tables which they already have there. There is not a kitchen for the caterer. Make sure the caterer knows to bring and set up their own cooking area.
The contact person, the place was beautiful, the set up, the flowers, the food;Make sure you give yourself enough time after the ceremony to take pictures... our guests had to wait...
longer than we expected...
