The chapel on its own is absolutely stunning and why we chose to get married out of state!
The wedding planning side of it was not a fantastic experience. 3 weeks before our weddi...
ng, we were informed we needed a licensed wedding coordinator. Not one single mention beforehand, and apparently not a better time to do it than within our wedding month. She then tried to tell us we needed to pay an additional $250 since their prices had increased since we signed our contract (always save your signed contracts!) A week prior, we were told if we wanted to get into the garden we needed to purchase tickets ahead of time. Well, the garden had already bloomed and no reason to go in to get pictures with dead flowers. The tickets apparently are non refundable, so more money to them again. I wish there was more structure on this, since you pay more than $1,000 an hour for the chapel.
We had our destination wedding ceremony in Anthony Chapel and it was truly as stunning as we pictured it to be. As an architect and engineer couple, we fell in love with the chapel...
itself for obvious reasons, but the surrounding gardens are just as beautiful and serene as the chapel. We took advantage of this by getting as many photos in the gardens beforehand as possible and they all turned out amazing! It was the perfect setting for our wedding and many months later our guests still talk about how incredible it was. For this we are truly grateful. The nearby grooms- and brides-quarters are a nice inclusion and work great for getting ready spaces. They even offer a golf cart rental to help usher people with limited mobility from the nearby parking lot down to the chapel and back. In the year-long planning process leading up to our wedding day the communication with the different wedding coordinators at the gardens was a bit rocky and left us confused or mistaken multiple times, but we were able to work through it for the most part. It didn’t help that multiple coordinators quit during our process and we only found out by emailing or calling and getting a response from someone new, who didn’t know much about our prior communications. Overall, and aside from the rocky communication, the gardens and chapel are an incredible setting and we would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a stunning venue for their wedding.
I always leave 5 star reviews, but this is the exception. My husband and I were married here last week, after 2 years of planning. We signed our contract in 2020. The venue is abso...
lutely STUNNING, and we chose tulip season, adding to the beauty of the gardens. HOWEVER, the coordinator we signed our contract with no longer works at the venue; in fact all of the staff is new. No one knows what’s going on, in fact, they can’t even find my contract. Luckily, I have copies of everything. They are now not returning my deposit or phone calls, and no one will tell us why. The coordinator there even admitted that she is trying to eliminate weddings at the venue. So while our wedding was perfect and our photos will be stunning, it is entirely inappropriate to approach a bride on her wedding day and threaten to keep the deposit because you cannot find the contract.
Be very wary of planning a wedding and reception here. When you start talking to them, when you go visit to start planning, they are very nice. They are very accommodating. However...
, this does not last. We read some reviews about the chapel stating it's beautiful, but there are issues. So we initially looked elsewhere. However we later noticed on the website they allowed booking ceremonies at the Koi pond. My wife's dream location for our ceremony was the Koi pond, so this was a no brainer. We went and visited and were told they felt like having chairs for people would be difficult because of the slope of the lawn, however if we had chairs the maximum would be somewhere around 20 to 40. We then asked about how many people there we would be limited to if we didn't have chairs on the lawn and people could sit or stand as they liked. We were told several times, "As long as no one is trampling flowers you can have as many people as you want." So my wife and I contemplated whether or not we wanted to have a small intimate ceremony with chairs or invite everyone to the ceremony and let them sit/stand on the lawn. We decided we would rather have everyone at the ceremony. We signed a contract with the venue that had no limit on the amount of people we could invite. This was almost a year prior to the ceremony. Fast forward to 30 days before the ceremony, well after save the dates and invites had gone out, well after we had RSVPs from everyone. They told us the MAX we could have at the Koi pond for the ceremony was 40. I reminded them what they told us and they dropped our max down to 20 instead! I asked her to let me talk to our wedding planner to see if we could figure out what to do (at this point I didn't want to bother my wife with this news because she had enough stress to deal with with other things going on with the wedding) and after agreeing to give me time to talk to our wedding planner, she proceeded to send an email to my wife suggesting other parts of the property to have the ceremony. So she went around me and our wedding planner and contacted my wife directly introducing an undue amount of stress instead of me or our wedding planner being able to talk to her about the issue. This is alone unacceptable behavior. We then had to have a lawyer look over our contract and tell them we had brought one board and suddenly they were singing a different tune. "Oh there's just not enough room, but we'll do whatever we need to to get everyone there!" So things seemed to be solved. The day before our wedding, at the rehearsal they started alluding to the fact that they were going to count all the guests and once they reached 40 stop letting people on the lawn. Day of the wedding, I was standing next to the entrance to the lawn and sure enough, once there were around 40 people they started telling guests they needed to stand on the walkway on the OTHER SIDE of the koi pond. Any guests here would not have been able to hear the ceremony. And that location was behind the officiant. I had to raise my voice and get upset with them for them to back off. This experience seems to be about on par with other reviews I have read for the venue. In the end, we went around the staff and had over 80 people on the lawn. There was room for at least double that. If you do book here be ready to have to fight for what they promised you. Venue is beautiful, property management is terrible.
Garvan Woodland Gardens is a beautiful place to tie the knot! Ginger, the venue coordinator, was very kind and a huge help every step of the way. We were married in Anthony Chapel ...
and also had the reception at the Bridal Hall (which is also the perfect place for getting ready). We were married in the fall, so you could see the beautiful fall colors through the glass chapel. For such a beautiful venue, it was very reasonably priced!
FANTASTIC VENUE! Everything was absolutely beautiful and truly breath taking. #ROBBENWEDDING2018
I did not use the gardens for my reception, however I had my ceremony at the Anthony Chapel two weeks ago and I am just so happy with how it turned out. The gardens staff know what...
they're doing and treated the event like professionals. They helped coordinate the rehearsal which helped a ton. The only problem I had was with the pictures the day of the wedding. They told us to go take pictures in the gardens area instead of the chapel area because they were very strict about our time block we reserved. But when we went to go take pictures in the gardens, there was a wedding reception going on at the welcome center! I thought it was very unfair to the other bride that I was right there taking pictures while there was no one over by the chapel area. I wish they would have thought that through but it is what it is. In the end, my wedding played out perfectly. My ceremony musicians bailed on me last minute, but the chapel came with a free sound coordinator which was a life saver. I will say it is a pricey venue, but I had wanted to get married at an Arkansas glass chapel since before I got engaged so to me it was worth it!
This venue was perfect for my wedding ceremony. The church is so beautiful that I didn't even use any flowers or decorations. They were very accomodating and helpful and made every...
thing seem so fun and easy. All of my family that came in from out of town thought it was one of the most beautiful reception venues they had ever seen.
Beautiful place. Would have liked more time for pictures. Setting can't be beat and the wedding department was beyond helpful.
Our wedding was perfect. The wedding staff and venue itself was perfect! My wedding dream came drue!!
We had our ceremony at the Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens. This chapel is breath taking. It was pricey however if it's in your budget I highly recommend this venue. It's...
cheaper throughout the week.
The gardens were beautiful and that was the only reason why I gave it 5 stars. However, logistically it was a nightmare. There was so much confusion about vendor parking and family...
parking that it added chaos to the day. My mother spent much of her time trying to sort it out. The staff was not helpful or friendly.
The ceremony was in the Anthony Chapel and we didn't even have to decorate, it was perfect. We had our reception under the pavilion and it rained but it still worked out perfectly....
Highly recommended. The staff there really helped all day long and helped it run as smoothly as possible.
I loved having my wedding here! The only downside was the semi-rude behavior of the staff on the wedding day.
We opted for the one-hour, No Fuss No Frills, rental of The Anthony Chapel. It was a lot less expensive and we were able to get ready and have the reception at a family member's ho...
me so we didn't need the bridal quarters or reception hall. The staff were very flexible and answered my hundreds of questions both pre and post event without any problems. Even after our hour was up they allowed us to take family photos in the chapel and on the grounds without any hesistation. It was such a beautiful setting that there was no need for ceremony decor which also was a great money saver. The staff also assisted our guests before and after the wedding. I would highly recommend such a facility. As a bride, you don't want to have to remember a million rules about your facility and it is nice to have a supportive and kind staff at your side. Thank you, Ms. Suzie Burch, for being so wonderful!
The chapel at Garvan Gardens was perfect for our wedding. The staff was very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. I highly recommend having your wedding in the Anthony Chapel.
Beautiful place to get married. We got married in the Chapel. You dont need decorations the chapel is beautiful as it is! Especially at night We did both our wedding and had our re...
ception here. Our only complaint was for the amount of money we paid they sure pushed and rushed us out!!
Loved the place!
It is so beautiful and no decor is needed, it is more for the outdoorsy type or some one who has more of a rustic vintage theme with flowers to match but since I did red black and ...
white and wanted intimate and romantic we decide not to use this! & its too exepsnive on weekends
The wedding was AMAZING! The gardens are gorgeous & I couldn't have dreamed of a more beautiful wedding!!
The Anthony Chapel at Garvan Gardens was the absolute perfect place to get married in April. The gorgeous setting made my wedding very unique and architecturally beautiful. My gues...
ts loved it and I loved having an indoor but outdoor set wedding.
Anthony Chapel in Garvan Woodland Gardens is a phenomenal place to get married. You cannot ask for a better backdrop for photos, which was my number one desire. Anthony Chapel wa...
s perfect for our wedding because we wanted the feel of an outdoor wedding without the insane Arkansas heat. It was also great because they included a rehearsal hour the night before the wedding. If I had my wedding to do over I would still choose this location for my ceremony.
The drawbacks: the bride's quarters and the groom's hall that you will likely get ready in were very hot. No one wanted to get dressed until the last minute because it was so warm inside those two buildings. You also only get a three hour window when you rent the chapel as they can squeeze in seven weddings in a weekend. This means that you have to plan your time very wisely to accommodate pictures, guests arriving and leaving and the ceremony. We took some photos before the ceremony and I didn't like that guests were arriving and seeing me in my dress before my grand entrance. Finally, the guy who operated the sound didn't execute it perfectly. He practiced with us during the rehearsal, but when I was supposed to enter during the ceremony the groom had to cue the photographer who had to cue the music operator that my music should have been playing. Small hiccup, but hiccup none the less.
everyone absolutely loved anthony chapel and said that it was a stunning location for the ceremony.
the weather (in june), however, was a little too hot for the garden reception...
that we had planned for mid afternoon, so we ended up indoors in the magnolia room. the room was all right (with large windows facing the garden) but to me not amazing.
service was on the whole ok, but they did not keep out members of the public just before and after the ceremony (people wandered into the chapel, looked through our guest book, asked if they could sit in the wedding (!!), came in while we were taking photographs after the ceremony), even though we had it reserved for a 3-hour block! They apologised, but I don't feel that this was enough especially after what we had paid.
This was the most amazing venue I have ever seen for a wedding. I looked no further after touring the facilities. The gardens are beautifully designed, and Anthony Chapel is breath...
taking. We did not even need flower arrangements of any kind inside the chapel.. It was so gorgeous on its own. We hired a wonderful pianist, and the acoustics were just amazing.
Maybe I'm biased because it was my wedding day, but I think it was the most beautiful place I've ever been!
Our wedding was at 11 am and I could nto have been more satisfied with the help and courtesy of the staff at GWG. This is an excellent place!
The chapel is breathtaking. The people are very strict about the time schedules you're given to work with, but you couldn't ask for a more beautiful or serene place to be married.
It was gorgeous! The wedding directors were helpful. We loved it!
I went to this location to look for my wedding venue and wanted to show everyone what Arkansas is hiding it is a beautiful location not hard to get to but secluded enough for a bea...
