Gary did a superb job of managing some new music for him I had selected, especially at the dinner hour when I was looking for some dreamy and quieter piano music. He ramped it up later for the dancing and even got my wife to do a solo dancing performance I hadn’t seen in our 50 years of marriage. Well done, Gary.
Gary was a great officiant! My fiance and I had a zoom session to meet him and get more details, then we completed a questionairre so he could get to know us. Gary commpletely customizd a script for our ceremony and he attended the rehearsal so we would al feel comfortable on the day. He has a strong and calm presence in front of the crowd, a great speaking voice, and we got many compliments from our guests. We were very happy with our experience!

Gary Kelley is a Wedding Officiant, and award-winning Wedding DJ and Emcee with more than three decades of experience helping couples celebrate some of the most important moments of their lives.
Many couples recognize Gary from his years on San Diego radio, where every station he worked for reached #1 in the ratings, as well as from his work in local television at ABC 10 News. Long before becoming an officiant, Gary spent decades helping couples celebrate their wedding days as a professional DJ, Emcee, and host.
Today, he brings that experience to a much more personal role.
Gary believes the best wedding ceremonies aren't about scripts or formalities. They're about the two people standing in front of him.
He begins by learning your story—your personalities, your relationship, the moments that brought you together, and how you want your ceremony to feel. From there, he creates a ceremony that is personal, warm, natural, and uniquely yours.
Heartfelt and emotional. Lighthearted and relaxed. Traditional, faith-centered, or beautifully simple. There is no one right way to get married.
Gary's approach combines professionalism with warmth, humor, sincerity, and genuine care. His goal is for you to feel comfortable, confident, and completely present when the moment arrives.
That moment belongs to you.
His job is to help you enjoy it.
And when the ceremony is over, Gary guides you and your witnesses through the marriage license, making sure everything is completed and signed correctly. He then promptly mails it to the County Clerk with tracking, so you know this important final step has been taken care of.

That's why I don't believe in simply inserting your names into a ceremony I've performed dozens of times before.
Every ceremony I create is written exclusively for the couple I have the privilege of marrying.
Your personalities. Your relationship. Your story. Your people. The little things that make the two of you you.
Whether you're planning an intimate elopement, a beach wedding, or a celebration surrounded by family and friends, my goal is the same: to create a ceremony that feels warm, natural, heartfelt, and unmistakably yours.
I've spent more than four decades connecting with San Diego audiences through weddings, radio, television, and live events. That experience taught me how to read a room, calm nerves, handle the unexpected, and—most importantly—know when the moment belongs entirely to you.
I'm not there to be the center of attention. You are.

And I want the process to be easy.
From creating your ceremony through completing your marriage license, I'll guide you through it. After your wedding, I'll make sure your license is completed correctly, mail it to the County Clerk within 24 hours, and send you the tracking number so you know it's safely on its way.
