You would be so lucky to have Genevieve and/or her associates Amy and Slavy as photographers! We had our engagement pictures taken by Genevieve and then, since she wasn't available for our wedding, her associates Amy and Slavy. Let me just tell you, the photography will blow you away. Their pictures are simply breathtaking, artistic, and beautiful. Picture quality aside, Genevieve, Amy and Slavy are some of the most awesome people you will ever meet. We absolutely loved working with each of them. They were sweet, professional, down to earth, efficient, funny, and so personable. I do not love getting my picture taken but they made it so easy and comfortable. We cannot thank them enough for sharing their expertise with us and giving us photos that will be cherished forever. I looked through dozens of photographers in the area and it was immediately clear to me how skilled she is, and that she has such a gorgeous style. We loved her scenic photos, emphasizing the beauty of the natural surrounding and taking some of the focus off this generally camera-shy couple. Genevieve was one of the first vendors I booked, and I'm so grateful she was able to document our big day. She was very honest with us, not trying to upsell me on a second photographer, and ensuring me she could capture all the big moments herself. My guests literally thought we had 2 or 3 photographers because she seemed to be everywhere... they were shocked to find out it was just her! We also did an engagement session with Genevieve, which was a great way to understand the process and get more comfortable posing. We learned during that session how quickly she works -- no awkwardly holding poses for a long time, Genevieve just snaps away! Finally, as someone who has photographed probably thousands of weddings, Genevieve has seen it all and was a very reassuring presence on my big day. When I had to make a rain call and ultimately move the ceremony inside, she calmly assured me that I had made the right call, putting my worries at ease. She confidently told me multiple times the indoor rain plan would look beautiful and photograph gorgeously, and it did. She noticed a couple details from our ceremony that were really special to me and complimented them -- as someone who's been to so many weddings, you know she means it when she gives a compliment! She was super flexible all evening, going with the flow when I asked her for portraits with certain groups of friends, and picking up on spontaneous moments on the dance floor. Our album is so beautiful and I had a huge smile plastered on my face going through it this morning. You will NOT be disappointed if you book Genevieve -- but do it now, before she gets snapped up by someone else!

Genevieve did an incredible job with our wedding photos. After our wedding day I asked my husband what his favorite part was and he told me he most enjoyed taking first look pictures at Morven Park. Genevieve was SO easy to work with and she made us feel comfortable while taking pictures, and it really shows in the end result. We had to reschedule our wedding and she was very accommodating which meant a lot since we already had lost multiple deposits. We are extremely satisfied with her work and would highly recommend her to any bride and groom.

Genevieve was phenomenal! She went above and beyond to photograph our wedding day and we could not be happier with her photographs. She helped me finesse our wedding day timeline to optimize first look photographs and "be ready" times for family, this was particularly helpful for children in our wedding party. She also helped me improvise when I did not have an elegant hanger for my wedding gown photographs or the skills to fasten my own bustle after the ceremony. Genevieve is hands down the most incredible photographer we’ve ever met! She is a true experienced professional and has the kindest heart. Gen was our wedding photographer and we were blown away by her attention to detail and ability to use the environment for the most beautiful shots, at the perfect time. We LOVE our pictures! They came out so beautiful and our friends and family loved them! Genevieve was very easy to communicate with and I appreciate her and her associates' hard work to capture our day!

Genevieve was superb. We hired her for her excellent photography skills (and would do so again solely on that basis), but we were blown away by her helpfulness throughout the day. She even taught us how to cut our wedding cake! While Genevieve Leiper Photography was not the least expensive option, we are glad we splurged a little for such excellent service and results. Of everything from a wedding day, the memories and the photos are what persist so my advice is to invest in the best and hire Genevieve! Some more details on our experience: During our initial conversations up until and past our wedding she was very responsive. She has an eye for detail, and checked in to confirm timing as the event date approached. On site, things got even better. She was speedy in photo setup and provided really helpful guidance on poses and postures. She quickly found and recommended locations, but also made our pre-selected photo locations work well. She arrived 10 min early and we actually finished everything 10 min early as well! Genevieve went above and beyond throughout the day. From teaching me how to how and walk with my gown, to how to spread out the train to maximize the look she kept everything moving throughout the day. During group photos she saved the day. We had told her upfront who would be participating and she noticed when a couple of shy relatives tried to get out of the photos. We did not have a wedding party (tiny elopement wedding during the covid pandemic) so as we started our ceremony she quietly and quickly swooped in to adjust my dress train for photos -- my husband joked she was like our wedding planner and all my bridesmaids rolled into one. Her service blew us away, but nothing prepared us for the stunning photos she captured. On the day of our wedding we had a lot of distractions so it was great to have someone on top of everything - we hadn't expect our photographer to be that person, but she turned out to be!

Oct. 23rd 2020... Five Stars isn't enough for Genevieve!!!! I am BEYONDDDD thankful to have had the chance to have a MINI-Wedding with Genevieve taking the pictures to remember it all!!! She was SO amazing, she captured some of the most beautiful breathtaking pictures I have ever seen. The details she captured with her pictures could seriously be in a museum!! She was amazing with my HUSBAND's father, who uses a cane to make him comfortable and being sure to capture the BEST angles. She was so HANDS on with EVERYTHING, helping the coordinators, helping guests, keeping me CALM, she even BUSTLED my dress in the blink of an EYE (15 different points!!!) so we could capture the picture with the perfect lighting. I cried (and still get chocked up) when I saw the pictures, I would give her 10000 stars if it was possible!!

We hired Genevieve to shoot both our engagement and wedding photos. It was hands down the best wedding decision we made. SHE IS ABSOLULTELY FANTASTIC! I cannot say enough good things about her. Our photos look like they were pulled out of a magazine – and that is saying a lot given my husband and I are not the most photogenic humans. We could not be happier with her services and she is an absolute pleasure to work with. She made us feel so comfortable. We were married right before COVID-19 restrictions began to take place and some of our important family members were unable to attend at short notice. Genevieve went above and beyond to make sure they could still witness our special day and set up video recordings for us as well. If you are looking for high quality photos and top-notch customer service – hire Genevieve!

Genevieve was absolutely amazing! I would highly, highly recommend her. From our initial phone call, to our in-person meeting, it was clear that Genevieve was very professional and extremely talented. She captured all of the wedding’s moments beyond our expectations. The posed photos were spectacular and the candid photos were incredible. You can feel the joy and we can almost hear the music playing in the background while looking at still photos. So amazing! She knew the venue so well and was very well prepared. The photos were taken in different locations and very thoughtful but also taken very efficiently. Genevieve has a calm disposition and a discreet style. She was a pleasure to work with. Her assistant Slavy was fabulous as well. Whenever we look at our photos we say “we were so lucky we hired Genevieve”.

Genevieve was absolutely amazing! From start to the finish on our wedding day she made sure she and her second photographer captured all of our special moments. Genevieve was so helpful in the booking and planning process as well. We talked over the phone a few times so she could get a feel for our vision when it came to our wedding photos. We could not have asked for a better photographer and second shooter. They were professional, fun and full of laughter. We could not have been happier with our decision to go with Genevieve Leiper Photography! Doug and Slavy were our photographers for the day and we absolutely loved them. They did a fantastic job and were extremely organized! Genevieve was amazing to work with! She was delightful, helpful, punctual, organized, and most importantly, took incredible photos. Genevieve and I spoke extensively before the wedding, and while we had never met in person, I felt like I already knew her when she showed up well ahead of schedule at my apartment the morning of the wedding. What I loved most about Genevieve was how organized and efficient she was at taking the photos I had requested, plus all of the beautiful photos I had never even considered! The last thing you want to do on your wedding day is worry whether your photographer is getting all of the right shots, and with Genevieve I was in excellent hands, and never worried about a thing. Genevieve was also super communicative after the wedding and was gracious enough to get me a few photos early for me to share with a publication that was featuring my wedding. Plus, she got us all of the completed photos well ahead of what she had promised us! I am also grateful she talked me into booking a second photographer, since it helped capture all of the shots and moments I wanted from our wedding. We booked Doug and Kirk for our wedding day. Genevieve was a pleasure to work with in the lead up to our wedding. We communicated with her to get our list of "must have" photographs and she always very responsive to our questions. On our wedding day, Doug and Kirk were fabulous. Doug was so much fun and really put us at ease so we spent the whole day laughing! Our pictures turned out great and we couldn't be happier. Genevieve then edited the photos quickly so that we had a photos back in a week and half! She then sent us our photos on a USB that was a beautiful engraved glass and gold USB that is a beautiful keepsake. Doug, Genevieve, and Kirk were all a pleasure to work with and we would absolutely recommend them!

Absolutely love our wedding photos from Genevieve! My husband and I spent a lot of time researching photographers looking for clear, bright photos to match our winery venue in August. We came across Genevieve's photos from a friend's wedding photos and were absolutely in love. We contacted to book her right away. On our Big Day, Genevieve was able to capture every moment. Looking back on our photos now we can relive our day that seemed to fly by! Genevieve and her right man Doug were absolutely amazing. We are so thankful for the variety of photos we received from the get ready, to the first look, ceremony, reception and especially sunset and night. She did a great job of not only capturing us as the bride and groom but our guests who were very special to us. By far my favorite vendor of my entire day! Absolutely amazing.

My husband and I knew as soon as we met Genevieve that she would be the perfect photographer. She made us feel comfortable when taking pictures and her experience showed throughout the engagement pictures and our wedding day. Our pictures are absolutely stunning and we can't thank her enough. She is worth every penny and you will not regret it!

We loved our experience with Genevieve Leiper! We found Genevieve through our wedding planner -- my husband had wanted very artistic dark Vogue-like shots and I preferred the candid warm images; you couldn't get more opposite so we had a hard time at first compromising on a photographer. Genevieve was able to do both to our likings! Im against the forced looked of engagement shoots so I was nervous when we booked ours but it turned out very natural and it was a lot of fun. The pictures were a mix of bright and vibrant, darker and artistic, and warm and candid. She has a great eye for creative shots and beautiful work. Our wedding photos turned out just as good with a great mix-up of styles. We had so much fun running around DC on our wedding day with Gen and her team, to get all different kinds of shots in. We probably weren't the easiest clients to work with at first, but we were so glad to have chosen Gen. Aside from the initial consultation, Genevieve didn't need much coaching and preferred to work off of the emotion/action of the day vs planning out shots. It was nerve-wracking to give up that control and planning (which that urge always gets cranked up during wedding planning), but it worked well for great candids and some very good artistic shots. Beautiful photos, great personality, easy to work with, affordable pricing, and well worth the investment!

My now husband and I found Genevieve though a preferred vendor list that was given to us by a venue that we were considering for our wedding. We ended up passing on the location but hired Genevieve, and it was one of the best decisions we made. Genevieve is fun to work with, she is professional, and above all else, she is TALENTED! With five sneak peek photos in hand, I am waiting with bated breath to see what else she captured from our day. If you have not booked your wedding photographer, look no further. My husband and I recently got married at a winery in VA, so we wanted a photographer that could capture all the important moments in our wedding and also incorporate the beautiful scenery into our photos. Genevieve and her team were wonderful to work with - friendly, professional, and creative. While we have only seen a few preview photos so far, these photos have proven to be the perfect blend of beautiful, artistic shots and more traditional (but still stunning!) wedding photos. Summer 2017 started off with a wonderful wedding I had an honor to film at the magnificent Mayflower Hotel! Beautiful couple had their lives united in a luxurious emotional ceremony and let their hair loose in a crazy music filled reception party! I had so much fun filming this gorgeous wedding, where I joined an extremely talented and friendly Genevieve! We got married recently in Middleburg, VA, and heard about Genevieve from our reception venue, Bluemont Vineyard. She came highly recommended, and it's not hard to see why. Genevieve really knows her stuff, and delivered a beautiful final product. We just got our pictures in, and couldn't be more pleased. Our photographers, Ashley, and Megan were fantastic on the day of the wedding. Both were laid back and a lot of fun, and managed to find all the good angles. We're not really big on taking photos ourselves, but they found a way to make the process tolerable, dare I say, fun! We enjoyed working with the whole team, and would highly recommend them all!

Genevieve is THE BEST. Seriously, she is absolutely amazing. She takes awesome photos and just seems to have an eye for placing you where you'll look the most fabulous and in the best scenery. I couldn't believe the way the sunlight caught the veil in some of her photos. Not only that, but she took my awkward self and my awkward husband and made us look like models (half-joking- seriously her work is amazing). Genevieve was so wonderful to work with! She was positive and upbeat all day, although it was rainy and not ideal wedding weather. Our photographs turned out more beautiful than we could have imagined. We have nothing but great things to say about her and her assistant!! You want her as your wedding photographer!

Gevevieve produced BEAUTIFUL wedding photos of our big day and my husband and our parents couldn't be happier. She was easy to work with and even made the extra effort to videotape a little bit of footage for our videographer when he was with my husband. She was there from start to finish, was polite, willing to do multiple locations, and has been easy to work with on the album since our big day. I highly recommend her.

As soon as my fiancé and I met Genevieve we loved her. She is so friendly and easy to talk to. We had met with five photographers before her and she was our favorite before we even saw her pictures. Her work speaks for itself. We met with eight photographers total and her photographs were on a completely different level. They are art. She is incredibly talented.

Genevieve is amazing! We could not have asked for better photos -- or a more fun team on our wedding day. She and her assistant went above and beyond-- helping the guys put on flowers, holding flowers/veil, fixing dresses and truly paid attention to every minor detail- symmetry, light, people making funny faces! They were a ton of fun and yet made sure to blend into the day and did not block the view of guests etc. When we got our photos we were blown away- they included many details that we didn't know they had even captured!! We highly recommend her for any wedding, engagement and/or event!!

From our initial appointment, we were confident we had found our wedding photographer and a new friend. We immediately felt comfortable with her. We used Genevieve Leiper for our September 27th, 2014 wedding and we absolutely loved her! She came highly recommended from our wedding planner, Lindsey Farrell of Kelley Cannon events and though we were supposed to meet with a few other photographers, once I met Genevieve I knew that I wanted to work with her for our wedding! I was nervous about having my photograph taken as I am usually camera-shy, but Genevieve made everything fun and relaxed and still obtained amazingly beautiful images. Both her and her second photographer knew exactly where to go in Alexandria, Virginia to get beautiful shots of both me and my husband as well as the wedding party. I didn't have any particular shots in mind but I knew I was in great hands with Genevieve and I was not disappointed. The pictures I have seen so far are amazing and I am so thrilled with the results. In addition, during the reception both Genevieve and her second photographer were able to take pictures of the guests in-action on the dance floor without getting in the way of the dancing! I was so happy that we barely noticed them while we were having a blast on the floor. Overall: hiring Genevieve was the perfect decision for our wedding and I cannot wait to see the rest of the pictures from our day!

I am in awe of Genevieve's talent. My husband and I scheduled a meeting with her after reading reviews on wedding wire and checking out her pictures. When my husband and I first sat down with her, we could tell we wanted to work with her right away. Her photography style is flawless and exactly what we wanted. The contract we signed with Genevieve included our engagement pictures and it was a great way to work with her before the wedding. It was a sweltering hot day in Alexandria but she still managed to make our pictures amazing! We had several locations and her eye for interesting backdrops was great. She was a blast to work with so we knew our wedding would be great. We worked with Genevieve and Chad on our wedding day and I am so excited to see how our pictures came out!!! Each one they showed us was stunning- just on the camera screen! I can't imagine how they will look like full size. They were SO fun to work with and that makes having your picture taken easier when you feel totally at ease with the people you are working with. **Note: We recently received our pictures from Genevieve in record turnaround time and we couldn't be happier with them! Genevieve and Chad completely captured our love and emotions during the day as well as those of our family and friends. Everyone says how gorgeous the pictures are and we couldn't agree more! We are so happy that we have the best day of our lives captured so beautifully that we can share with our kids some day. Plus, she sent us three high-quality prints of our choice! Genevieve is truly a professional! From her positive attitude, consultation on our vision and overall picture quality is first class. Infact when we met Genevieve my now wife had 500 pages of Pintrest photos to show Genevieve. Genevieve welcomed the Pintrest sheets with open arms and made sure that we achieved those images on our wedding day. Genevieve has a great energy about her and she has a very creative eye. Getting married in November, we were provided a short window of outdoor photography. Genevieve did an amazing job of orchestrating the outdoor shoot and managing both my wife and I and a excited wedding party! Choosing the Photography vendor was the MOST important vendor choice for our wedding day. We researched many photographers in the area. We feel very fortunate to have found and chosen Genevieve and we STRONGLY recommend her!

Genevieve is INCREDIBLE!! She is not afraid to get down & dirty & roll in the grass/ dirt to capture the BEST shot!! She is flexible & amazingggg at what she does. Her assistant was great as well. Gen was very helpful in planning pictures and really wonderful to work with. It was all very natural. During our church ceremony, I didn't even notice her at all, which is great! And the photo's I've seen so far are WONDERFUL! I'm very glad we were able to budget her into our day.

I must start off with the fact that I love pictures. Love taking them, scrapbooking them and keeping them. I knew from the day we got engaged that I didn't care how much my budget was going to be, but that I would skimp in other areas in order to have a photographer that would capture the emotion of the day through the camera lens. I was having my wedding in Williamsburg, VA but am a resident of Northern Virginia. I met with 8 different photographers in Williamsburg/Hampton/Virginia Beach and felt like they were way too traditional for what I wanted. I cheated and my girlfriend gave me a list of top photographers she narrowed down for her wedding in NoVA, Genevieve being one of them. When I saw her website and portfolio, I was floored. When I met her at her studio and saw more of her work, it blew me away. I walked away loving her and her work but was worried about her cost because it was more than I was anticipating (you never know how much vendors are until you actually plan your own wedding). In the end, I knew that her work and the albums that she would design and put together would be well worth it. For our engagement pictures, she traveled up to West Point for us. From that day, we knew that we would be able to work well together. She is so laid back and not fussy. Whenever I had questions (even with other wedding stuff, non-photography related) she was always so knowledgeable from being in the business for so long. We had two shooters on our wedding day and never regretted that decision. They caught so many moments that I know would have been lost if we only had one shooter taking pictures. I just looked at our final pictures a couple weeks ago and they literally brought tears to my eyes. Genevieve captured the essence of the day and I could not have been happier with our pictures.

We're photographers, and so out motto for finding the right person to shoot our wedding was that he or she had to take better pictures than we could! We actually spent a significant chunk of our wedding planning time looking through the multitudes of DC-area photographers, taking on Washingtonian lists and Pulitzer Prize-winning options, trying to strike a balance between our budget and our desire to capture the event artistically and romantically. Then, from one of those lists, we stumbled upon Genevieve Leiper Photography, and we never looked back. Genevieve blew us out of the water from the word go, with galleries galore on her website that illustrated her eye for artistic framing and unique, long-exposure shots. To top it all off, unlike many wedding vendors in general she provided her prices up front on her website, so we knew our baseline cost before we even contacted her. Then, in our first conversation with her, upon discovering that our wedding was on a Tuesday...in December...she immediately cut a significant chunk off the price of her packages without us even asking. A beautiful photographer, affordably? Done and done. And that was just the beginning! When we met up with Genevieve, she had done her research and knew we too were into taking pictures, so she immediately talked to us as if we were her colleagues. This comforted us and let us know that we had indeed chosen someone who knew the ins and outs of her camera, not just the all-too-common kind of wedding photographer who was digital-happy and relied on the law of large numbers to net a few decent shots. She was excited to watch us go through her previous albums, giddily agreeing with us when we noticed a framing or a technique others breezed by in their perusals. On the day of the wedding, she brought her co-photographer, Gray, with her, and after a walkthrough of the ceremony and reception sites, both of them immediately split up to shoot the ladies and gentlemen getting ready. I spent my time with Genevieve, and she was playful and casual, eagerly taking shots of my makeup to show me how it turned up on the camera. This type of excitement coursed through their entire time with us, constantly showing us previews of shots they enjoyed. When they found out we had actually seated them at one of our tables like guests, so that they could eat a full meal, Genevieve about danced (we assume because, at the time, she was eating for two!). As our wedding was Dec. 21, we assumed we wouldn't get to see the results of their incredible talent until long after the holidays. Much to our surprise, though, on Christmas Day, there was an email in our inbox that included a "sneak peek" of eight of our photos! Gen was so excited about them that she called us just to make sure we had seen the email so we could share them with our families when we saw them later that day. She even made it a point to tell us that she was so thrilled with the way our wedding photographed that we were already part of the gallery on her homepage (I'm the bride in the fluffy, faux-fur wrap). On 1/7/11, 17 days after our wedding, we received our online gallery. Our event was captured in a way that only a photographer of her caliber could, with elegant and creative framing, brilliant use of natural light sources, and unique portrayals of motion inside the still images. There is not one single thing she could've done to better our impression of her work.

Genevieve was so easy to work with. I hate having my picture taken but she was fun to be around and made me feel very comfortable. She even fixed my bustle when it came undone. I would recommend her to anyone.
