The Georgia Freight Depot was an absolute perfect setting for our June wedding. The history of the Depot is awesome already, but we fell in love with its uniqueness among other wed...
ding venues. Brides who want an urban space have that city buzz. Brides who love that industrial feel have that brick and exposed beaming. Brides who want touches of nature have the garden and gorgeous trees along the platform. The GA Freight Depot really did suit every idea we had. The other thing we loved about the Depot was the openness of the space – with 18,000 square feet and tall ceilings, the world is your oyster as far as what you want your wedding to look like. When the barn doors are open, the sun just pours in – so beautiful! Lastly, we can’t wrap this up without mentioning the food – AMAZING! Our guests are seriously still talking about our menu. As a wedding professional myself, it was important to me and my fiancé that we found a venue who would be flexible and open to our ideas for menu, timeline and décor – the GA Freight Depot team was exactly that. We were so happy to have hosted our wedding at the Depot. It was perfect!
The space is wonderful- however the staff was subpar when it comes to customer service. I had a meeting with Brittany Gunter to discuss using the GA Freight Depot as a Wedding/Cere...
mony Site for December 31st. Brittany was late to our appointment and it was clear that she was distracted the entire time. I understand that they are busy with events all over the downtown area- however, I am in the wedding industry and Customer Service is of the utmost importance. During our consultation, she neglected to even show us the property- we explored some of it while we waited on her to arrive. In addition to not showing us the space, she was on her phone the majority of the time, talking to other employees as if we weren't eve there and she also neglected to inform me until I was sitting face to face with her, that they REQUIRE alcohol if you want to book a Saturday wedding. When I told her that we weren't interested in having alcohol due to personal conviction as well as budget, she basically dismissed us from that point on, stating 'this wasn't the venue for us'. She also told us that this is Distinctive Catering & Events "Cash Cow" and that basically if you weren't willing to fork out $100++ a person, they weren't interested in having you as a bride. She also cut our consultation short "because she had another meeting in ten minutes". I then saw her leaving the venue more than 10 minutes later- she just decided that she was no longer interested in talking with us. Needless to say- We will never even so much as recommend this venue or this 'wedding planner'. The staff (With the exception of one lady who was very cordial) is rude and not at all concerned about customer service. Don't waste your time- There are other industrial looking places to go!
Unfortunately, I never got a chance to see this venue. It looked lovely online, but I have to say that the events coordinator--Brittany--was less than helpful. I called and made an...
appointment to tour the venue, only to arrive and find it locked with no sign of anyone or any message. I checked my email to find an email from the coordinator sent just hours before cancelling the tour and claiming that my phone number couldn't be found in the records (I left it with the coordinator when I scheduled the tour). This was all after I made it very clear that I was only in town for the weekend, as I'd flown in to look at venues in my hometown but had to get back to work, and all after I'd scheduled my family's time to accompany me. I called and left a message, then got a call from the coordinator claiming she'd tried to call me AND tried to email me--despite her email saying (very clearly) that she didn't have my number. I understand that things come up, and that business is booming--but her attitude was defensive bordering on rude when we spoke after this incident and I truly don't appreciate the changing story when she claimed that she didn't have my number, then said she tried to call me, then said she had a wrong number "she guessed" and all without giving me a clear, professional reason as to why she canceled the tour the same day, just hours before the appointment (that I'd set up almost a week in advance). I hope you have better luck here than I did!
The venue itself is awesome. The huge open room allows you to create anything you want. We had drapes break the room into two. One side for the ceremony and the other for the rece...
ption. THe exposed brick and metal ceiling valances really make the venue a great place for pictures. I liked the side area or viewing room where the train goes through. This area was used to keep the food so it was out of the way and people had room to move around the reception area. Our pictures turned out amazing with all the optional backgrounds. The only downside is that you have to use their caterer which we had some issues with (service related, not food related) but that is a different review. One thing that the venue needs is a sign near the road. Some of our guests missed the ceremony because they could not find the venue, even with the directions we gave them. The building is not easily seen from the street.
Beautiful!! Everyone was great and on top of it! Food was delicious as well! Had great suggestions for vendors as well
