I'm Danielle, an Ithaca based photographer specializing in wedding, event and portrait photography. Since 2000, I have been photographing weddings and events throughout the Finger Lakes region as well as destinations weddings. I love my job, which allows me to artistically document every aspect of your wedding day. Each wedding is unique, and it is my job to allow your wedding photographs to tell your story. Through a mix of artistic photojournalism and guided posing I document your wedding day and try to be as unobtrusive as possible. Just like you and your fiance, your relationship with your photographer should be a match made in heaven. I only take on a limited number of weddings year, and am currently interviewing couples for 2021. I would love to help you with your wedding. The relationship between a couple and their photographer is important. It is crucial that you feel comfortable with your photographer, as we are with you throughout the day. I feel so honored to have been able to document hundreds of weddings over the years. I strive to be a calming presence while photographing the days events. I have helped to get brides dressed, driven couples to other locations, fixed bouquets and resolved problems. Danielle is simply amazing. We have been using her since our engagement photos, which were picture perfect, and we have continued using her as our family has grown to now three children. She has taken breath-taking photos that will last a lifetime! If you have ever tried to get pictures with children, you can understand how stressful it becomes, and she is amazing at making sure we have not one or a few, but multiple pictures that we absolutely love!! I am huge on the Pinterest inspiration and I show her what I really like and she is able to do that for us! It comes out picture perfect just like I see on the Internet! She is not pushy or demanding and lets you lead it but if you ask her for advice or help, she is more than willing to give it to you! She gives you tips on posture that will make the pictures look better and it is so incredibly helpful!!! I cannot say enough good things about her and I can’t imagine using anyone else! She is absolutely lovely to work with and her pictures are absolutely amazing!!!

We are so grateful to have had Danielle capture both our engagement photos (September 2022) and our wedding day (August 2024). We couldn't have asked for a better experience. She is so genuine, sweet, and has an easy-going personality which makes her so much fun to work with. We were nervous with our engagement shoot because we haven't had professional pictures taken before so we didn't know what to expect. She made us comfortable and we had so much fun -- she also gave us many ideas with poses and where we should stand so we had the best lighting since we were doing a golden hour shoot. For our wedding, she was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She checked in with us leading up to our big day to double-check the details of where she should be, when, and the timing of events. She also checked in with us throughout our big day to make sure we captured all the shots we requested (she also provided us with other ideas too which was so nice and helpful because they're ones we didn't think of them!). Danielle is very talented with her work and her pictures completely exceeded our expectations. Her turn-around times for sneak-peaks and the full albums were very quick as well. She was always responsive via text/e-mail too. We even provided her with a Pinterest board with the type of lighting/poses we were going for and a wedding-picture wishlist -- she ensured we captured the special moments listed. We highly recommend Danielle (Gerritsen Photography) and if we could give more than 5 stars we definitly would! :)

Danielle was amazing to work with. During our planning process she responded so quickly and was very helpful with timeline planning. The day of the wedding, she was ready to make our day special no matter what the weather was. Danielle made sure to get all the pictures from our photo list and made sure everyone was having a great time! We hired Danielle to shoot our micro wedding in may 2023. Danielle was reasonably priced for the coverage we were looking for this type of event. We are not local and had never been to the finger lakes area so we relied on Danielle’s expertise a lot in recommending a timeline for our day locations to shoot at taughannock etc. Danielle was flexible friendly and easy to work with. We had great communication throughout the process leading up to our wedding and the day of she was professional and listened to getting the pictures we desired to have and recommending spots to go even helping us to include our dogs in our special day. She hiked with us to the falls and recommended some beautiful spots to take our photos at the park. Our pictures were turned around quickly and turned out fantastic and we are so happy that she was the photographer we chose for our special day.

We deeply enjoyed working with Danielle for our wedding in 2023 and our engagement photos in 2021. (She was one of our favorite and most trusted vendors in the whole experience!) We used Danielle for our engagement photos and our wedding day and couldn't have been happier with the final product! Danielle is so easy to work with- she is very responsive and called me quickly after my initial inquiry to get to know us and discuss what we were looking for. Danielle is a true professional and clearly very experienced in what she does- from guiding us into various poses and setting up unique shots, to getting our list of "must have shots" and specific people we wanted to make sure were in our pictures, to helping organize our guests the day off- I was so surprised with how quickly and efficiently we got our post-ceremony pictures done so that we could enjoy the time with our guests! We got our pictures back quickly and the platform to view and download was very easy to use. It can be so overwhelming to choose each vendor for your big day and it was so important to us that we chose a photographer that understood what we were looking for, was experienced, kind and produces high quality work- I am so glad we chose Danielle!

We hired Danielle for our October 2023 wedding. We always knew we were going to hire her because she has taken amazing family portraits for us in the past and also shot engagement photos for us. When it came to our wedding day, unfortunately, it rained most of the day and we weren’t able to take the photos we hoped to take outside. Danielle didn’t hesitate to offer to come back to our venue after our wedding day to have a private photo shoot and get all the photos we had missed. Danielle was very attentive and made sure she didn’t miss any photos from our shot list. Danielle has a calming nature and is so personable. We wouldn’t have wanted to hire any other photographer to shoot our day. We highly recommend her, we love her!

We hired Danielle to be the photographer for our September 2023 vineyard/winery wedding in Geneva, New York. From the beginning, Danielle was a pleasure to work with; getting back to us promptly with any questions we may have and helping when it came to the timeline details the day of. As my husband and I live out of state, we met Danielle in person for the first time on our wedding day. She had a calm, warm, and friendly attitude that made it very easy to work with her despite it being our first meeting. We gave her a list of shots we wanted, but she also had a lot of great suggestions of her own. This was our first time having professional photos of this nature done, and she did a great job of both letting us do our own thing and suggesting various poses. Danielle was on time, prepared, and had good energy for the entire 8 hours we had her. We received our full set of edited photos just over 2 weeks after the wedding and we couldn't be more pleased with the results - they are stunning! I highly recommend Gerritsen Photography!

I cannot recommend Danielle enough!! She was kind, accommodating, responsive, and an amazing photographer to work with! Our photos came out STUNNING. I could not have asked for a better person to work with; my husband and I are not the most photogenic of people nor do we know how to pose for pictures at all, and Danielle made us feel so comfortable and got amazing shots. I presented her with quite the challenge of having to organize and take a lot of family photos (I have a huge family and my husband has a blended family, so there were lots of photos needed) and she didn't skip a beat and handled it with grace. The album she sent us afterwards was also so beautiful and professionally done! I would 100% work with her again!!

We worked with Danielle for our September wedding and could not be happier with our photos! Danielle was very easy to work with and kept in touch throughout the planning process, making sure she knew exactly what we wanted on our wedding day and helped us create a timeline. During our wedding, Danielle did not stop working once! She photographed every detail. When we were done with wedding party photos she took the opportunity to get great photos of our ceremony and reception sites before guests arrived. We were pleasantly surprised with all of the angles she captured during our ceremony, she must have never stopped moving around to get the best shot! During the reception she must have went up and down the barn stairs a hundred times so she could photograph everyone. She got our photos to us in great time and every single one looks stunning.

She was well-prepared, had a calming presence, and gave (much needed) direction to the group in a clear and polite manner. We had a great experience with Danielle for our engagement photos. Communication before the photos was easy. We exchanged contact information, discussed locations, and sent inspiration photos. We took our pictures at a winery, and Danielle found a few great locations around the property that we hadn't even noticed before. She gave us some guidance on how to pose, but for the most part let us be ourselves. She also helped us include our puppy in a few pictures, which we loved! Danielle told us she would have the photos to us in about two weeks, and we ended up receiving them about a week and a half later. The pictures came out beautifully, and we could really see why she suggested certain spots and poses. We also really liked that she included 2-3 different edits for most of the photos. Overall, we had a great experience taking our engagement photos with Danielle, and would gladly recommend her!

Danielle was wonderful throughout the entire experience, from Zoom calls mid pandemic trying to navigate what the day will actually look like, to capturing incredible moments the day of. She was always accessible, listened intently to what we were looking for in our photos, and over all just a joy to work with. To have someone so calming and gentle during an exciting, albeit stressful and vulnerable day, was such a comfort for us. She accurately captured the photos we were envisioning, and brought her own unique talent of reading the moment and finding the perfect image - not only as a photographer reading the lighting and scenery, but also reading people. Danielle is amazing! She was easy to work with when we postponed our 2020 wedding, even reaching out to us on our original date sending well wishes. Our engagement pictures were stunning. Unfortunately, the morning of our wedding, we got a call from Danielle that she had a family emergency. Before she called us (at about 6am) she already had a back up photographer booked and on their way to us! We were so sad Danielle couldnt shoot our wedding, but her professionalism is unparalleled. She still edited our pictures and had them back to us in 2.5 weeks, which is unheard of. I cant wait to use Danielle for maternity and new born pictures in the near future!!

I had a small wedding with 12 guests and although the ceremony was brief she was able to brilliantly capture very special moments! Danielle was incredible from start to finish!! I had never planned a wedding before so I had no idea what I was doing and she really stepped up and helped me figure out the timeline of our day and make a plan, which I really needed! After that, she was insanely flexible the day of with all of the things that pop up too! For example, my husband's grandma couldn't walk to the original spot we wanted to go for pictures, so Danielle found a wonderful backdrop that was more accessible to her. My husband was especially grateful that she had so many ideas of poses and tips to help us all look our best and not feel awkward taking photos. He and his groomsmen all had a blast taking pictures with her, so that was amazing. She was seriously everywhere during the actual wedding ceremony/reception too. My parents even noticed that anytime they thought "Hey, that'd be a cute picture," Danielle was already there. I am so grateful that she was there to capture every single moment of our day. Several DAYS after the wedding she had some sneak peek pictures for us, then just a few short weeks we had all of our pictures!! I could not believe how quick her turnaround was, especially for the amount of pictures we had! Danielle was incredible and I hope you book her, not only did she capture my wedding beautifully but she was so incredibly helpful with planning details/times/etc!

Danielle is a fierce one woman show with so much talent. Her work is beautiful! She did such an incredible job on our wedding day. We had the pleasure of working with Danielle in October 2021. Even in the face of all of the pandemic craziness and rescheduling (we had to set three dates!), Danielle was extremely supportive and accommodating. She was always prompt to respond to my emails and panicked questions when it came to COVID issues. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Danielle is clearly a seasoned professional, which is not something that should be taken for granted. Now having gone through the wedding planning stress, I am so grateful to have had a photographer who knew exactly what we would want for our finished product. She made us feel so comfortable and worked tirelessly for us all day, suggesting poses, locations, etc. She was very good at giving us directions that made all of our photos feel like us. She really captured the love we felt. Danielle shared a few stunning sneak peaks in the week following, which we were extremely grateful for. We then received a user friendly online portal to view and download our photos, as well as a USB with all of the files. We have so many beautiful shots, I don't even know which ones to frame! Overall, Danille is AMAZING! If she is available for your date, don't hesitate to book her.

Danielle did our wedding photos and she was amazing to work with! We were nervous we would feel awkward but taking the photos felt like we were doing something with a friend - who also gives slight direction to help make your pictures look great. She was very responsive to all of our questions and was more than willing to meet with us to do a walk through at our wedding venue. From the first time I met Danielle I knew she was the person I wanted to photograph my wedding. She was willing to listen to everything we wanted and also help us figure out the best way to get what we wanted. She was quick to respond to emails and phone calls. We had several meetings to go over all the details. On the day of the actual wedding she was so helpful and made me feel comfortable throughout the evening. She asked us the kinds of photos we wanted and made sure to do those and then she also added in her own style which I loved! After the wedding was over in less then a week we got a sneak peak of some of the photos she took which were amazing! And in less than a month we had all of our photos! Danielle was super personable and made our wedding feel so special. I would hire her again for other types photos.

Danielle could not have been more accommodating after we asked her to photograph our elopement during the COVID-19 pandemic, in December 2020. From our first phonecall with her, she assuaged all our worries about the logistical details and was extremely flexible in her approach. On the day itself, it was just her and us and she made us feel very comfortable. Neither of us are pros in front of the camera but, with Danielle's direction, the shoot turned into a lot of fun and we looked great! The photos are better than we could have possibly hoped for and Danielle was kind enough to send us copies in multiple formats.

Danielle was AMAZING!!!! She did an engagement photo shoot with us in the arboretum in Ithaca. She was easy to work with and flexible in her timing with our jobs. Danielle was AMAZING to work with from start to finish! Our original 150+ August 2020 Finger Lakes wedding had to be re-worked due to COVID-19 into a micro-wedding with just 16 total people. When I reached out to Danielle about this, she had no problem with changing our original package to an hourly package (and we still got edited photos!) so we could cover our details, ceremony, family formals, and part of our reception (to get shots of cake cutting and toasts). We received all the photos back WAY earlier than expected, which was great and they turned out so beautifully! I'm so happy with how they turned out and that we didn't cancel having a photographer this year! Leading up to the wedding, Danielle was super responsive and always happy to answer any questions I had. She was fantastic to work with the day of and was super organized. Danielle is so sweet and I am so glad that we're able to work with her again for our 2021 planned reception!

I had worked with Danielle for senior pictures and family pictures before, so when we got engaged she was one of the first people we contacted. She’s very responsive and flexible – we had a few ideas about places we wanted to take pictures at and ended up changing a couple of things the day of due to weather, and she also ended up staying at the reception later than planned. She was great at giving direction while still making us feel completely comfortable and natural in front of the camera. It was unseasonably cold the day of our wedding, and very windy in one of the spots we wanted to take pictures at, and she was constantly checking in to make sure we were still comfortable, not too cold, etc. She also took some gorgeous pictures in our church that were just as beautiful as our outdoor pictures, and captured some incredible candid photos throughout the day in addition to the formal ones. There were several couples at our wedding who had used her at their own weddings, and they were all so excited to see her! We also chose to have a second photographer to photograph the groom getting ready and the ceremony, and she was awesome as well! We are so happy with the way our pictures came out and the beautiful moments they captured, and would recommend anyone planning a wedding to book with Danielle!

Danielle is AMAZING - I can't recommend her enough. She not only far exceeded my expectations as a photographer and captured stunning photos, she also saved the day when the florist forgot one of my bouquets. She used to be a florist and was able to make a matching bouquet with some extra flowers we had. She also kept everyone on track with photos, made sure to get every photo I asked for, and was calm, cool and collected. She made me feel very at ease from the second that she showed up. My photos and experience with Danielle are priceless and I couldn't recommend her more.

I cannot say enough positive things about Danielle! Before we even met her, our DJ was raving about her! Then when we spoke with her for the first time, we knew why! She is kind, she is energetic, and she is extremely thoughtful. She was an absolute pleasure to work with leading up to our big day and even more wonderful in person. I was planning a New York wedding from Virginia and would be unable to visit the area until the week of the wedding. Danielle was very flexible with me. I am blown away by the sheer artistic beauty and quality of the photos Danielle captured on our wedding day. We had an outdoor wedding in the fall at Cayuga Nature Center. The way our event was laid out required Danielle to capture moments under many completely different conditions, from shady forest clearings, to shining full sun, to night time with poor quality/unflattering LED lighting. Somehow, she didn't miss one single amazing minute of our celebration and even with all those challenging conditions, everyone looks amazing and the lighting is perfect. I get chills when I see her photos of our ceremony, taken from all angles including some unbelievable close-ups of our faces during our vows. Guests have complimented how they never noticed that she was there during the ceremony and she did not create a distraction at all, but somehow she captured the expression on our faces so perfectly. She remembered every shot I asked her to try to get during our bride-groom session, and kept everyone on track during the group formals without subtracting from anyone's fun. She captured photos of so many of our guests that they will cherish forever., not just the bridal party. Thank you SO MUCH, Danielle, for these memories we will enjoy for the rest of our lives. Every bride and groom should take advantage of this amazing talent!

Danielle was everything you could ask for in a wedding photographer and more!! She’s the perfect combination of involved and friendly, but never overbearing.
