We cannot say enough wonderful things about working with Susan at Gertrude & Evelyn for our 11/2/2024 wedding! Susan is incredibly sweet, and her collection of vintage furniture and décor is absolutely stunning. Walking through her space was so fun—it was so hard to choose because everything was so beautiful. Thankfully, Susan has an amazing eye for design. She really took the time to understand our vision and vibes, making thoughtful recommendations to help us narrow down the perfect pieces. The items we rented truly pulled everything together, and the pillar candles added the perfect ambiance to our space. Mercantile Hall is gorgeous on its own, and the pieces we chose from Gertrude & Evelyn complemented it beautifully without overwhelming the natural charm of the venue. Susan went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. When she realized there was an extra table we hadn’t accounted for, she immediately ran back to her office to grab more pillar candles to complete the look. Her attention to detail and dedication made all the difference. We are so grateful for Susan’s creative touch and the gorgeous pieces that made our day even more magical. Susan is amazing!! We rented furniture from her for our wedding at Mercantile Hall. I was super overwhelmed with how we were going to decorate our entry space and venue and Susan made it so easy. She is so talented and used to be an interior designer so she has a great eye. When we first met with her we told her the vibe we were going for and she recommended a few pieces (couches, tables, etc) which we said yes to. We also told her we weren’t quite sure how we were going to display our desserts for our dessert bar and she created a mock table of different pieces we could use and it was beautiful. It was so amazing to see everything come to life on our wedding day. Working with her was so easy and Susan and her team set everything up the day of the wedding and took it down after. We went through Gertrude and Evelyn for our wedding and we couldnt be more pleased! Everything turned out so beautifully. From the candles on the centerpieces/being the alter/sweetheart table, to all the decor in the front room. It was an adorable photo op spot for not only us, but the guests! Susan was very nice and easy to work with! Since we lived a bit farther away, she was willing to discuss everything through email and send and additional photos we may have needed to ensure our vision was captured. Everything was delivered day of on time and set up quickly! I highly recommend 😊

Susan was so wonderful to work with! Communication was fast, easy, and we were able to quickly set up a rental for our wedding. Pricing was very reasonable and the use of the couch made our photos extra special! Thank you for being so great. I hope we can use your services again in the future.

I highly recommend working with Susan! She had great ideas for decorations and offered fair prices. I recommend having her set up and tear down as well. It really takes all of the stress away from you and your families by having everything set up by Susan. Her rentals were unique and tied the entire wedding together. Gertrude & Evelyn Vintage Rentals is a wedding MUST! Susan was so helpful throughout the entire process. When we went to pick rental pieces, she listened closely to understand our desired look/theme and helped us choose items that looked beautiful together. She was also helpful in ensuring that we weren’t missing any key items like a cake stand or cutting utensils. Day-of, she made decor set-up and take down a breeze for us. From our centerpieces to candles throughout the venue to the various pieces of furniture we rented, she truly made our vision come to life. I got married on 5/28/21 and had been referred to Gertrude & Evelyn by my venue for any rental needs. I had taken a look at the inventory on the website and found so many beautiful pieces and a wide variety of inventory that I thought would be perfect for our day. When I met with Susan, she was so incredibly kind and helpful! Not to mention, she was very accommodating. I am not from the Burlington area but she was more than willing to make a time work when I was in the area for me to take a look at the rental pieces. When I was at the shop looking at all of the furniture and other wedding decor with no clear idea what I was looking for exactly, I told her my vision and she helped put pieces together that were stunning and fit exactly what I was looking for. The setup and take down was very quick. I would highly recommend Gertrude & Evelyn Vintage Rentals for anyone planning their wedding! Our November 14, 2021, wedding was planned in 5-1/2 months and on a Sunday. The ceremony and the reception were held at Mercantile Hall. If you know the venue, it is an old furniture building with exposed brick walls, beams and hardwood floors. We learned of Susan Knott and her business, Gertrude & Evelyn Vintage Rentals, while touring Mercantile Hall. Not being from Burlington, we were not aware that there was a business that rented furniture and an array of accessories for weddings. Susan was absolutely wonderful to work with, accommodating and professional – she listened to our vision and offered suggestions on how to incorporate her pieces into our design. I love vintage/rustic furniture and accessories – the couch and the chest in the welcome room created a space for guests to gather as they watched the slide projector and signed the guest book. The glass cake stand was perfect for a smaller size cake, and the wood slices added to the centerpieces we made. All the glassware, votives and candles along the ledge wall and cake table added a nice glow especially as evening neared and the unity candle was perfectly displayed on a vintage octagon table. Susan arrived early on Sunday to set up and didn’t leave until everything was perfect and then returned that same evening to pick up furniture, etc. Thank you Susan for making our wedding day so special!!

The addition of furniture from Gertrude and Evelyn created a space at our venue that felt like a living room for our friends and family to enjoy visiting together. The furniture is beautiful and added a unique environment for us to take photos. Susan is incredibly helpful and enjoyable to work with. We are so happy that we went with Gertrude & Evelyn for our wedding! They were recommended to us by our coordinator at Mercantile Hall, and we thought it was such a genius idea to rent all of our decorations. Susan was very helpful and professional from beginning to end. We ended up renting a few pieces of furniture for the lobby, a love seat for our head table, many candle votives, and a few other items. Susan helped us pick out everything and gave great recommendations on how many items we would need since she had worked at the venue many times before. This made us feel very comfortable having her team set up our decorations, since we didn’t have a structured plan. We trusted Gertrude and Evelyn to set up our decorations, and wow what a fantastic job they did!! We were so unbelievably happy and would recommend them to anyone that is planning an event.

We met with Gertrude & Evelyn through our wedding venue about five months before our wedding. Their warehouse of inventory to choose from had everything you could imagine to make our special day perfect. Susan was a pleasure to work with, very response and overly accommodating! I had asked for some minor changes the week of our wedding and she had no hesitation, which resulted in these simple changes making the world of difference for our parents during the ceremony and reception. The items we chose added so much class our wedding day and character to our photographs. We would highly recommend working with Gertrude & Evelyn when in the market for renting vintage furniture and artifacts!

Susan was so easy to work with and has an amazing inventory of gorgeous pieces. She had a ton of great ideas as I talked about my vision and everything came out amazing! I would have never thought about a rental service if she hadn't been recommended to me and I'm so glad I used her services. We also drunkenly took her birdcage that held all of our cards to our hotel because we couldn't figure out how to open it to get the cards out and she was very understanding when we sheepishly brought it back the next morning. FYI: The birdcage opens at the bottom!

The furniture was all set up by the time me and my bridesmaids arrived at the venue on the wedding day and they were quick with clean up as well. HAVE TO USE! We used several vintage pieces in our wedding venue and it made the space come to life! Absolutely loved every piece, including the many varying glasses we used with tea lights in them. SO many pieces available and Susan has amazing ideas of what to do with them based on your space!
