I got married on 5/28/21 and had been referred to Gertrude & Evelyn by my venue for any rental needs. I had taken a look at the inventory on the website and found so many beautiful pieces and a wide variety of inventory that I thought would be perfect for our day. When I met with Susan, she was so incredibly kind and helpful! Not to mention, she was very accommodating. I am not from the Burlington area but she was more than willing to make a time work when I was in the area for me to take a look at the rental pieces. When I was at the shop looking at all of the furniture and other wedding decor with no clear idea what I was looking for exactly, I told her my vision and she helped put pieces together that were stunning and fit exactly what I was looking for. Our November 14, 2021, wedding was planned in 5-1/2 months and on a Sunday. The ceremony and the reception were held at Mercantile Hall. If you know the venue, it is an old furniture building with exposed brick walls, beams and hardwood floors. We learned of Susan Knott and her business, Gertrude & Evelyn Vintage Rentals, while touring Mercantile Hall. Not being from Burlington, we were not aware that there was a business that rented furniture and an array of accessories for weddings. Susan was absolutely wonderful to work with, accommodating and professional – she listened to our vision and offered suggestions on how to incorporate her pieces into our design. I love vintage/rustic furniture and accessories – the couch and the chest in the welcome room created a space for guests to gather as they watched the slide projector and signed the guest book. The glass cake stand was perfect for a smaller size cake, and the wood slices added to the centerpieces we made. All the glassware, votives and candles along the ledge wall and cake table added a nice glow especially as evening neared and the unity candle was perfectly displayed on a vintage octagon table. Susan arrived early on Sunday to set up and didn’t leave until everything was perfect and then returned that same evening to pick up furniture, etc. Thank you Susan for making our wedding day so special!!

The addition of furniture from Gertrude and Evelyn created a space at our venue that felt like a living room for our friends and family to enjoy visiting together. We are so happy that we went with Gertrude & Evelyn for our wedding! They were recommended to us by our coordinator at Mercantile Hall, and we thought it was such a genius idea to rent all of our decorations. Susan was very helpful and professional from beginning to end. We ended up renting a few pieces of furniture for the lobby, a love seat for our head table, many candle votives, and a few other items. Susan helped us pick out everything and gave great recommendations on how many items we would need since she had worked at the venue many times before. This made us feel very comfortable having her team set up our decorations, since we didn’t have a structured plan. We trusted Gertrude and Evelyn to set up our decorations, and wow what a fantastic job they did!! We were so unbelievably happy and would recommend them to anyone that is planning an event.

We met with Gertrude & Evelyn through our wedding venue about five months before our wedding. Their warehouse of inventory to choose from had everything you could imagine to make our special day perfect. Susan was a pleasure to work with, very response and overly accommodating! I had asked for some minor changes the week of our wedding and she had no hesitation, which resulted in these simple changes making the world of difference for our parents during the ceremony and reception. The items we chose added so much class our wedding day and character to our photographs. We would highly recommend working with Gertrude & Evelyn when in the market for renting vintage furniture and artifacts!

Susan was so easy to work with and has an amazing inventory of gorgeous pieces. She had a ton of great ideas as I talked about my vision and everything came out amazing! I would have never thought about a rental service if she hadn't been recommended to me and I'm so glad I used her services. We also drunkenly took her birdcage that held all of our cards to our hotel because we couldn't figure out how to open it to get the cards out and she was very understanding when we sheepishly brought it back the next morning. FYI: The birdcage opens at the bottom!

When looking through the inventory with all the scattered ideas I had, Susan was helpful in determining which pieces would work together and gave me ideas for decor I might want to include. We were married at Mercantile Hall and it was helpful that Susan knew the venue well. The furniture was all set up by the time me and my bridesmaids arrived at the venue on the wedding day and they were quick with clean up as well. It was nice not having to mess with those things the day of! Lastly, I'm so happy with the special touch the furniture added to the evening and they made for gorgeous photos. Highly recommend!

Working with Susan at G&E was every bride's dream come true! My venue referred me to her rental company, and she couldn't have been a sweeter vendor to work with! I rearranged my wedding plans and booked a new venue just 3 months before the big day. Before I had time to worry about decor, Susan was there and able to meet with me just days after I initially contacted her. It was so fun "going shopping" in her warehouse of inventory! She had great recommendations and really just made my wedding day so special and intimate with her fabulous decor pieces! HAVE TO USE! We used several vintage pieces in our wedding venue and it made the space come to life! Absolutely loved every piece, including the many varying glasses we used with tea lights in them. SO many pieces available and Susan has amazing ideas of what to do with them based on your space!

HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Gertrude and Evelyn is so uniquely beautiful and truly made all my wedding visions come together. I wanted to tie together minimal rustic, some vintage feels but mostly bright & white feels- sounds crazy to pull so many aspects together but with Susan's help I was able to make my wedding visions come together. She has such beautiful pieces and works so diligently and passionately. She truly truly cares about your wedding day and how every single decor item looks. She takes her time setting each place setting, each settee, each candle- even going as far to ensure there are not any finger prints or marks on any of the items she places. She also provided our Cigar Bar for us (pictured) it was such a special thing for my husband and I as it represented an area to reminisce for his late Father. After telling Susan this, she focused on making sure the space was truly perfect. Our family members spent time reminiscing and laughing in the lounge all night long (it also tied my colors together as I had different shades of blue!) AND made for the coolest photos! She has so many gorgeous pieces to tie together your wedding visions and dreams. I cannot recommend Gertrude and Evelyn enough! I promise you will look back on your day and remember the stunning additions and details- but you will also remember the kind, passionate and fun lady behind the company- Susan.

Susan made my vision for my daughter’s baby shower come to life. Rustic/Vintage theme. We rented beautiful old farm tables, antique chairs for the mom and dad to be, we even rented all the tableware (China) from her. Susan was also very accommodating when we had to change our original party date due to the Pandemic. We were so happy to have found Gertrude & Evelyn for our special day!

Meeting with her and seeing her inventory was so much fun! She has so many unique and beautiful pieces. She was great at responding to emails. When she got new pieces, she made sure to send me photos and measurements. We ended up renting two settees, two chests, wood blocks for the centerpieces, vintage plates and silverware.
