Get Up and Dance

Leah was SO amazing helping us choreograph our first dance. She was super encouraging and used our feedback to create the perfect dance for us. We were so excited to perform on our special day! I would recommend her to any couple who wants to make the day extra memorable with a special dance!

Leah was AMAZING!! She taught my dad how to dance for my wedding and let me tell you that is no easy task!!! She also put together my first dance for me and my fiancé. We are both feeling so confident going into our big day!!

Leah is so sweet and encouraging! She makes sure you are comfortable with your skills, my fiance and I, mostly me had no idea how to slow dance, by the end of our three sessions it felt natural, as well as she gives really reassuring advice. I would highly reccomend leah!

Leah at Get Up and Dance truly provided us the best experience possible helping us prep for our first dance at our wedding! I was very hesitant going in as I am not even close to a good dancer. My fears melted away immediately as soon as we met Leah. She took the time to get to know us both and made us feel at ease the entire time. She choreographed our full dance for us and made sure we liked it and felt comfortable with each move. We had so much fun each lesson and couldn’t wait for the next. We were able to hit the dance floor with confidence on our wedding day and completely wow the crowd with our dance! We look forward to returning for additional lessons. Leah was fantastic! We took a few first dance lessons with her leading up to our wedding. Danielle & I don't have any dance experience, but we wanted to learn something that we could do for our special first dance! Leah was incredible at understanding our skill level and crafting a sequence that we could not only perform, but also remember! The dance was absolutely perfect. I don't even know where to start.. Leah completely blew away any expectations we had! Initially we purchased a single dance class for us to do with my parents, mostly to make sure we didn't trip over ourselves come wedding day. Leah was able to show us a couple basic steps/turns while making the class easy enough to understand and SO fun. My parents even went back by themselves for an additional class because they loved it so much. My now husband and I went back for a couple classes as well once we decided on our first dance song. To top it off, my husband is blind and Leah was amazing; she was able to guide him through everything so we both felt confident on our wedding day. I 1000% recommend!!

I can't say enough Thank Yous to Leah to suffice how wonderful she is. She took four left feet and made us look like we actually could dance. We had the perfect moment on our wedding day and she made it effortless and easy. It was amazing to see our guests faces as we twirled and dipped to our wedding song. Taking theses lessons was so much fun for us a couple and it made our day even more magical .

My husband and I took dance lessons with Leah for the first dance at our wedding. From the beginning she was very responsive, and we thought she did a great job choreographing a dance that was simple yet romantic. Neither me nor my husband have experience dancing but we were able to learn, memorize, and refine our dance in just 5 lessons with her. Leah was absolutely amazing to work with for our first dance for our wedding! She was able to take our vague, high level descriptions of what we were hoping for, and our clumsy footwork, and put together a PERFECT first dance for us. Not only was it fun and beautiful, but it was totally doable for us to learn less than three weeks before the wedding. We purchased three sessions, and assumed we would need to add additional sessions, but Leah was able to teach us the full dance in that time frame. Leah took our first dance from swaying back and forth to a dreamy romantic memory we will cherish forever! She asked us what we wanted for our dance, fully choreographed or have some dance moves in there to make it special. We didn't want anything choreographed down to the second o she helped create a custom dance routine that we got to provide input for. It was absolutely beautiful! Everyone loved the dance and you can hear in the video when they are surprised where we started doing some fun moves. Leah was fun and so easy to work with when it came to creating the dance, scheduling our lessons and helping us make our dance exactly what we wanted. We loved working with Leah for our first dance! I got a set of 5 lessons for my then fiancee for Christmas. We had talked about taking lessons for a long time, and she loved the gift so much! Leah was so fun to work with and made us feel very comfortable the whole time. She worked with us to develop a dance for our song that was fun and very "us", being sure to always ask us what we thought about the moves she put together. We were very glad that we went with 5 lessons, as it gave us enough time to feel very comfortable in preparation for the big day. When we decided to take lessons for our first dance, I had to do a lot of research. When I found Get Up and Dance, the vibe seemed to fit. When we first met Leah, I knew that she was the perfect fit! She was patient, taught us slowly, and showed us the most fitting and romantic dance steps for our first dance. I'm beyond thankful for her! Thank you Leah!

My husband and I got married on 10/09/2022 here in Atlanta. Our venue had a vast reception hall perfect for a grand entrance and the first dance. So we had a vision but, no idea how to do it. I danced when I was in school but, my husband has two left feet. We knew we had to find the best dance instructor and, we found her. Leah is a busy woman but managed to schedule with us through her 3 session package. In the first lesson, she helped us find our song and explain how the wedding dance would go, enormously helpful and choreographing my husband felt comfortable with. In the second lesson, we drilled the first part of the dance and, mapped the second part with a must-have Dirty Dancing Dip and kiss. The third lesson we, unfortunately, had to miss it because we scheduled it for the morning after our bachelor/bachelorette party, totally our bad, but my mother-in-law and husband were able to have a lesson right before the wedding weekend. They were able to choreograph a lovely dance while not taking anything from our first dance and drilling the steps. I truly feel like there is nothing Leah can't do. On our big day, we arrived at our first dance, and my husband and I completely forget everything past the first verse however, we didn't panic! Leah had taught us to improve in the event of a mistake and was able to end on the DD dip and kiss for the perfect wedding photos! As for the mother-son dance, I was breathless and balling. Magic happened when my husband confidently twirled his lovely mother across our dance floor. Truly magical.

Leah was the perfect choice to choreograph our first dance for us. My wife Rachel and I came to her with a Beauty and the Beast mashup and she helped make it so much fun to perform. It is one of the highlights of our wedding!

My daughter and I needed a lesson and some ideas for the wedding father/daughter dance. Our experience with Leah was fantastic! Neither of us are great dancers, and she gave us some great ideas that are fun and totally doable. Leah is super positive and energetic and totally put us at ease. Leah was an absolute joy to work with! My husband and I were former students of Leah's, and when we decided that we wanted a specialized dance for our wedding, we knew exactly who we wanted to call! Leah's vision for our wedding dance was everything we wanted - a challenge, as well as an elegant performance as our first dance as husband and wife! We can't recommend her enough!

Working with Leah was our absolute favorite part of wedding planning! I know choreographing / practicing your first dance isn't necessarily a required part of wedding planning, but if you take some lessons with Leah, you will be SO glad you did! She is such a warm and lovely person, and has such a gift for both dancing and teaching people to dance. She's amazingly flexible and a great listener in terms of what you want. We picked an upbeat / unusual song AND decided to do it to a live band (normally not recommended), and she was happy to work with us and give us the perfect combination of moves. We did 4 lessons and loved every one - she makes the most of the time and makes sure that you are comfortable and confident. We'll be using these moves for the rest of our lives and it was great to feel like we were on the same page before dancing in front of all our friends and family. We got a ton of compliments on the dance as well! She was easy to schedule with, accommodating, and just a joy to be around. We're sadly moving away from Atlanta, but otherwise we would have loved to continue lessons, and also wanted to just hang out regularly with Leah. Don't think about it any longer - reach out and get dancing.

My fiancée and I used Leah to prepare for our wedding and couldn’t be happier! She made something that we were very nervous about, that first dance, into something that we are genuinely looking forward to! She’s amazing to work with, and can help people of all abilities (or lack thereof). Her communication skills are excellent, and she’s a born teacher. We were ready in 3 one hour lessons, but decided to go for a fourth to feel extra comfortable. There are so many stressful things about preparing for a wedding, but that first dance doesn’t have to be one of them!

Leah was the perfect choice for preparing for our first dance. My fiance and I loved that she doesn't force you to book a block of lessons in advance. Leah runs her private lessons out of her home and parking is easy and free for under 2 hours. She was well prepared for our first meeting. She is bubbly and a great instructor! She had a great vision for our dance using the song of our choice and incorporated our desires and feedback as well. We loved the experience and can't wait to wow our guests with our moves! We also plan to take some of her group classes in the future- she is that wonderful!!
