Gideon Owen Wine Company is a winery and romantic wedding venue in Port Clinton, OH. The winery has a long and storied history, beginning in the late 19th century. Known initially as Catawba Island Wine Company in 1870, this site has undergone many changes, serving variously as a winery, champagne storage center, tea room, and even a miniature golf course. Just as it started, this site is now home to one of Ohio’s premier wineries. Prepare for the day in The Overlook, a repurposed cabin with a powder room and bar area. You can say ‘I do’ in the historic Wine Cellar with vaulted ceilings, limestone walls, and decorative wine barrels. Alternatively, tie the knot in The Cellar Garden, which features beautiful gardens perfect for sunny summer days. The Lime Kiln Falls are ideal for cocktail hour. Your guests can relax and chat beside the peaceful waterfall while you pose for photos with your beloved around the vineyards. For your reception meal, Gideon Owen Wine Company offers The Ballroom, which is lit by elegant chandeliers and features exposed wooden beams, cobbled limestone walls, and a cozy fireplace. This room has seating for up to 180 of your guests. The elegant Vineyard Room and The Loft also offer you and your guests additional interior space to celebrate. A deluxe restaurant is on-site, and the talented catering team can happily prepare a bespoke food menu for your big day. Nice winery, beautiful inside and out. We did not eat here but I sampled some wine and it was an enjoyable experience. Then we walked around outside to enjoy the scenery.

ropped off by food runners and so after I got my plate which was cold immediately we didn't see our server for like another 8 minutes until she came to check out how things were. After nibbling on the wife's meal a little bit I ended up just going with an appetizer of bang bang shrimp which were delicious. The drinks were great and not overly priced. The Italian gin and tonic hit the spot. Actually had a second. An amazing place to look around though there is a lot to take in. Looks like they are ramping up for outside service in the fall and winter with all the new glass enclosed greenhouse type units they had for people to eat in so they're increasing their outside capacity during inclement weather. For about an hour after we got there they had great cover band live music from a guy playing outside. Then it was just back to the regular recorded broadcast after he was done and got his food and was up out of there. For some reason all of the service staff in this place did not look very happy. Beautiful outside area though with all the flowers I believe a lot of them are hollyhocks mixed in with some roses. They do actually let you have glass when you are done eating and just walking around which is cool They don't treat you like babies and give you little plastic cups! Manager was definitely on his toes, he was taking care of everything from the bonfire outside to making brick oven pizzas, with a limp. Not sure what was going on there if he should be working or not maybe have a scooter, but it did look like he was wearing some kind of brace. Hope he gets better.
