We are GLASS & GRAIN photography, a brother-sister team, who take a candid, natural, and timeless approach to photography. After spending two years in New Orleans focusing on photojournalism, Ian recently relocated to the Chicago area and GLASS & GRAIN was born. Though Ian spent the last 10+ years behind the lens, Elise recently parted ways with her corporate career in order to dedicate her unique financial and operational skillset to the family business.
GLASS & GRAIN captures life’s everyday moments and tells your story through documentary // fine art style photography.

y detail oriented and essentially serves as a wedding planner helping couples nail down their timelines, making sure you get all of the shots you want but also making sure you have time to take in the day and spend special time with your new spouse. When COVID came along and forced us to change our original wedding plans, Elise was there for us making sure everything would still go smoothly and we could still have the day we envisioned. Elise and Ian (main photographer) provided us gorgeous photos of our engagement and unbelievably beautiful photos from our wedding day, and in record time! They are very laid back and made 8 hours of photos not feel awkward at all, especially for 2 people who aren’t comfortable in front of a camera. And their expertise of great photo locations was unparalleled. We had amazing shots all around the Riverwalk downtown as well as in the suburbs near our wedding venue. Ian has a great eye for finding the best light, and he also is a photoshop wizard in case you need anything more than a touch-up done. I really can’t say enough good things about this brother-sister photographer team, I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. You can’t go wrong with choosing Glass and Grain.
