About this vendor
Golden Hills Golf Course is a wedding venue in Mesa, Arizona, offering sweeping views of an 18-hole PGA-rated championship golf course. The venue is on the course, so you and your guests can embrace scenic backdrops and stretching views. Palms and landscaped areas are found throughout the property, while mountain views fill the distance. Golden Hills Golf Course was constructed and designed in a Southwestern style to blend in with its surroundings, complete with tiled roofing, archways, and romantic courtyard areas.
Couples will find indoor and outdoor spaces to host their wedding shower, engagement party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception at the Golden Hills Golf Course. There are 13 event spaces to choose from. The resort's interior has over 20,000 square feet of space, easily accommodating weddings with up to 250 guests and more intimate ones. There are two signature ballrooms for the larger parties, which are also perfect for entertaining. Outside, couples have an additional 25,000 square feet of space available, including a garden pavilion area. These outdoor spaces provide scenic backdrops of the golf course and water features.
Understanding that planning a wedding can often be overwhelming, the Golden Hills Golf Course team assembled a ceremony and a reception package. These packages include white padded garden chairs, a water station, and more, so you already have everything on the property. They also provide tables, chairs, table linens, champagne and sparkling cider toast, dance floor, and more to help you celebrate. You can opt for additional services such as a DJ, a designated administrator, wedding florals, an on-site concierge, and photography.

So I just returned from my honeymoon, and I could not go another day without expressing the horrible experience I had with this venue on my wedding day and the planning months lead...
ing up to it.
We had our wedding and reception here at this venue on 04/27/2024. I originally signed my contract back in July of 2023. I met with Yolanda and toured the venue. The place is a little run down but has really good bones. The ceremony site and reception hall was a blank canvas that I just knew could be turned into my dream wedding with my coordinator and team. The contract was set up with a payment plan of my desired guest count. Fifty percent of our contract was due on top of the down payment by November. A lady named Kylie called for payment and notified me that Yolanda was no longer working there and that she would be my new point of contact. I advised her to use the card on file. A month later, I got an email asking if they could charge the card on file for the 50% payment. I advised that I thought this payment went through the month before. Turns out they never took the payment out and that it had slipped through the books with the change of hands. This was irritating, but I told them to go ahead and charge the card once more. Now that we were in December, I asked if we could go over the menu and do the tasting. She advised me to wait until after January, when all the holidays were over. In January, a walk through of the venue was done with my new POC Kaylee and my decorator. We went through the venue stock room to see what centerpiece, runners, etc, that I wanted to utilize on my wedding day. We were there for a few hours as we went through everything in detail as far as the amount of each item on site or that were going to be put on order. That day, I left happy and excited as I my vision was coming true. The following month in February, we had a tasting scheduled for February 23rd. Both my husband and I took off work for this tasting. My other decorator from out of town was meeting us there as well to go over her portion of decorating. I live over an hour away from the venue. I got a call while en route from Kaylee saying that we can't do the tasting because of a management meeting. I exclaimed that myself and my decorator were already en route separately, and she is from out of town. She told me that we could still do the walk through with the decorator. I had to call my husband, who was en route from his workplace, that it was canceled. We were very frustrated. When myself and the decorator and I arrived, Kaylee advised me that they got a new chef. The new chef came out to greet us and explained that he was new and canceled the tasting because what was being prepared was not to his standard. He also advised that since my large wedding party (27) was getting served and plated that the whole wedding of 150 guests should be plated instead of buffet style. He also threw in an additional appetizer during cocktail hour for the inconvenience. This gesture reassured me that I was in good hands despite the previous inconveniences. We went over the menu and set up a tasting for the following month of March. On March 29th, my husband and I finally got to taste the food. However, when we arrived, I was greeted with Yolanda, whom I thought did not work there anymore. She told me that Kaylee was no longer working there and that she would be taking over my account again. She also wanted to go over everything that was discussed with Kaylee to be caught up to speed. It seemed like she didn't have much of a pass down, only a few emails that were sent back and forth from Kaylee and I.
Back to the tasting.. the two plates had a chicken breast that was wrapped in a single piece of bacon with a mayo based sauce on top. The plate also had a 4oz salmon without any sauce, mushroom risotto, and greenbeans. My husband hates greenbeans, by the way. The salmon was overcooked, and both proteins were supposed to have a sauce. We never asked for bacon and definitely not the greenbeans. It was supposed to be a vegetable medley with broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower. Only one appetizer was available to taste and not the additional one that was promised. There was no salad, and it just was not presented as if it was for my wedding day. Plus, there was only one side to taste and did not have the vegetarian options available for tasting. The chef brought out a pork belly dish with southwest mash that was way better tasting than what we had on our plates. We agreed that that was better than the chicken option, but I had to see how I could change the RSVP menu with a now pork option. We also went over two his and her signature drinks to be served at the wedding. When we left, Yolanda told me that she would send me an itemized list of everything to include all decorations and menu items in the next few days. I never received anything. At this point, it's April, and my wedding is less than a month away. My coordinator tried calling to reschedule a tasting for the food we will actually have on our day, as well as the final details. She had a getting in contact with anyone, and they ended up denying a second tasting. When Yolanda reached out, she advised my coordinator that most of the decorations promised to me can not be delivered on. The items weren't even ordered! They told me that if I needed anything that I would have to buy it myself. I had mismatching centerpieces and different color chargers on the day of my wedding. I even had to buy some myself to have enough for everyone. I was told all this just two weeks before my wedding, and my decorator had to make a miracle happen.
The day of my wedding was horrible. The venue had another wedding going on that day and did not have enough staff for mine! My bridal party was supposed to be transported with the golf carts to and from the ceremony. There was no one available, and they had to walk really far in their heels. The room that all the girls were getting ready in did not have ac, and there was a giant dead roach in the sink. The room for all the groomsmen still had storage chairs in them. Nothing was set up for the bridal party, no sofas, chairs, or mirrors that were promised. My wedding was supposed to start at 5 pm. I was sitting in a golf cart for over 40 min in my wedding dress, waiting to get driven down. My photographer and videographer were on paid timeline. They were barely setting up my arch at 5 pm! I missed so many vital parts of my wedding due to the timeline not being followed. There was no signage for guests, and they did not know where to go. I was told that many were just standing around and waiting in the front. The pita chips were stail during cocktail hour. Most of my guests left even before dinner because that was late! I was so sad. My wedding party didn't get to eat all together because they didn't have the staff to serve. It took over 15 mins to serve just two plates. The other wedding guests were served buffet style, which was not what was promised to me ultimately. We even had to pay extra for my wedding transportation due to the timeline.
All in all, I did not enjoy my wedding day or the experience regarding this venue.
Do not have something so special here because they will drop the ball. I would have gone elsewhere if I had the time. Many broken promises, and I left out so much more, but hopefully, you can paint the picture of what your experience will possibly be.
You should add another star which is equivalent to A NEGATIVE ZERO!!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. THIS VENUE IS HORRIBLE AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE ANYMORE WEDDING.
1. They ...
PROMISED to Order Decorations and Center Pieces and didn't. We found this out 1 1/2 weeks before the Wedding. I requested to speak with the Owner, but the New Controller -Candy said she would contact him / her - let them know and get back with me. She never returned my phone call.
Both Candy and Yolanda stated that the Owner refused to make good on any of the initial promises
WE WOULD HAVE TO ORDER WHAT WAS PROMISED TO US
2. The Chef- Bill - is a LIER. He stated the dinner would be plated for all guests, then lied to our faces, and said he didn't say that. He meant the Bridal Party only. When 4 people All hear the same statement- you said it....he also said he would be there to Serve the food. WHERE WAS HE?
The Sales Manager Yolanda, Staff members Terri, and her daughter served the Bridal Party- in street clothes. ( NOT APPROPRIATE), because they had no staff.
Sales Manager Yolanda, Terri, her daughter, Heather, and 2 other staff members ran back and forth trying to assist and setup for 2 Wedding a few hours apart.
3. The Ceremony Site was to be set up by 1pm. At 445pm THE ARCH WAS NOT SET UP. CHAIR DECORATIONS WERE ALSO NOT SET UP CORRECTLY. A Staff member, the Officiant,
and my assistant- coordinator SET UP THE ARCH. This all happening in front of their guests.
When Yolanda was notified, she apologized and said she had no one to help correct the CEREMONY DISASTER so a few of the GUESTS attempted to assist in centering the ARCH. Unfortunately, guests were sitting in the chairs so we couldn'tmove those... HOW TASTELESS TO STILL BE DECORATING IN FRONT OF INVITED GUESTS. THE CEREMONY STARTED AN HOUR LATE....
4. MISSED PHOTOS because the timeline was so far off schedule due to VENUE INSUFFICIENCYS
5. VIDEOGRAPHER- SPECIAL MOMENTS MISSED due to VENUE INSUFFICIENCYS
6. SEVERAL GUESTS LEFT without EATING due to VENUE INSUFFICIENCYS
7. FOOD- TASTELESS, OVER COOKED- Appetizer Chips NOT FRESH
8. BRIDAL PARTY DRESSING ROOM- GROOMSMAN- NO chairs or couch to sit on
BRIDESMAIDS DRESSING ROOM-No Air Conditioning
ROACH IN SINK.....
ROOMS ARE VERY OLD AND DATED
9. Was asked by staff members if we had Cake Plates.....REALLY
10. Champaign Toast- served in CLEAR PLASTIC WATER CUPS
11. 4 to 5 tables without matching chargers- as previously Promised but NOT HONORED. Denied by the Owner
BRIDE PURCHASED CHARGERS FOR HEAD & - RESERVED TABLE
12. Bar Ran Out of Drinks
13. Golf Carts not available for Elderly GUESTS to transport from Ceremony to Reception as PROMISED.
14. Plates and Cutery were not Suitable for Weddings. VERY CHEAP!!
15. Ceremony Site was not maintained with the appropriate flowers in the flowerbeds as PROMISED
There is so much more, but I'm almost out of space.
The Knot should remove this VENUE off their list.

Adrian was so helpful when we were planning our wedding. He took everything into consideration when helping us make a plan at the venue. He asked what works best for us, our budget...
, what we wanted, etc. then made sure that is what we got. I could tell that he really cares about the clients and their desires. Adrian always told us exactly what we needed to know and worked hard to fit our ideas into the plan. He was always on time and even the times we didn’t need to meet directly with him, he made sure we were taken care of. He is kind, supportive, helpful, organized, and has a sense of humor!
Stay away from this place! I didn't have a wedding here, but reserved a block of rooms for my friends and family. It was awful from the first moment we checked in! They left my gue...
sts stranded for 2 hours in the heat, because they were running behind on cleaning rooms. There were no apologies or explanations given! The rooms were in terrible condition. We saw broken lamps, holes in the wall poorly patched with a thin layer of wallpaper, and even saw a beehive on the balcony. My husband's room was next to a gross pool that was in the process of being drained. The service at the front desk was bad too. They were very grumpy when my parents were misbooked in a standard room when they reserved a suite. I'm glad I didn't have my wedding here, because that would have been a disaster!
I have to post this here since they blocked me on FB.... I had my wedding here in 2015, I just want to remind anyone who maybe thinking of having there wedding here, DONT! Please m...
essage me and I’d be happy to share details. It includes wrong room assignments, three food tastings due to chefs quitting, event planner quitting, oh and best of all they threatened to cancel our wedding if we didn’t remove a post in which we were very factual. Please please, don’t have your wedding here, spend the money and go somewhere else otherwise you may regret it like us.
Don’t book a wedding here if you have Jennifer.! It was by far the worst wedding planner ever. First it took forever to get are food cost. Than she over charged us double had to te...
ll her and get it fix. Everything with this lady was hassle! Come to the wedding day they didn’t clean the pond. Had leafs everywhere! She only put out 43 chairs and needed 60. Only put out one table for our sand ceremony. No table for the DJ. This is everything we had to tell her to get done.!!’ She just didn’t do it.
When my wife got there to get dressed she told them the door is open and just head down.! Whelp guess what the door wasn’t open and had to wait. Finally a maid was cleaning a room close and opened the door for them.!!! On top of that they booked someone for that room!!! Another guest came knocking on the door and wanted their room! Hmmm ya problem here!!
The trellis that you get married under. We got with Jennifer and said we are bring our own but can they put it in? Said yes.! Just a few hours before they said they wouldn’t do it. So my father in law had to go down there ( lucky not dressed yet ) and put it in. Now looks like he just took a shower in sweat ! Thanks. When it came down to walking down she asked me if I was ready said yes! She says I’ll go see if the girls are ready and I’ll be RIGHT BACK! Nope she Foxing disappeared. Like really!! So we just had to run are own wedding. Luckily the DJ was on top of everything! We take are pictures (awesome camera guy btw). She wasn’t even there for us entering the ballroom. Once again Dj amazing! So we get our food first and wouldn’t ya know! She messed up the food order. BBQ chicken Nope how about just some seasoned chicken. Kids menu that we asked for?! How about no kids menu.! Had to quickly get food out for the kids. Over all she was a hot mess! Too bad I already paid a day before because I would have fought for the price! Oh Thanks for Foxing up are once and a life time moment !
My wedding was everything that I could ever imagine! The staff was wonderful and my guests had the time of their lives! I recommend the Arizona Golf Resort for any event!
