Our wedding was August 1, 2026, and we booked Golden Thread Cinematography because their pricing was among the most reasonable we found and fit our budget. Leading up to the weddin...g, Matthew was reassuring and shared updated galleries from his clients, which gave us confidence in the quality of the work.
My biggest concern was communication. I didn't always feel there was enough communication about what the team would need from us or how we could make sure everyone was on the same page. Because I am very organized, I continued sending updated versions of our day-of timeline, along with pictures and details of where we wanted to take our portraits.
On our wedding day, I was introduced to two gentlemen who were professional and pleasant. However, I was surprised and disappointed because I had been communicating with Matthew throughout the planning process and had no idea he would not be there. At no point was I told that two other individuals would be covering our wedding.
I completely understand that things can change and staffing adjustments happen. My issue was not that Matthew wasn't there; it was that I wasn't informed. I would have appreciated the opportunity to speak with the actual photographers beforehand, review our timeline, discuss our vision, and make sure everyone was on the same page. I also would have liked to see examples of their work specifically.
To their credit, the two gentlemen did a good job capturing many important moments. They were professional, reassuring, and reminded us that unexpected things happen at weddings. I appreciated their positive attitude and effort.
Unfortunately, one situation particularly disappointed me. At the end of the ceremony, when it was time for our large group photo, the photographer had us wait while he went to the top of the castle to take the picture. According to the timeline I provided, we were supposed to take the group photo on the lawn directly behind us, which was also where our family photos were planned.
This delayed our timeline and resulted in us taking pictures in a location I had specifically hoped to avoid. I was not happy about it, but because it was my wedding day, I put on a happy face and continued with the celebration.
Overall, our experience was mixed. I appreciate that the team was professional and captured many meaningful moments, but I was disappointed with the communication and coordination.
For future couples, I recommend confirming exactly who will be photographing and filming your wedding, whether the person you've been communicating with will actually be there, and whether you can speak with the assigned team beforehand.
I truly hope Golden Thread Cinematography takes this feedback constructively. We appreciate the work that was done, but better communication, transparency, and preparation could have made our experience much more seamless and enjoyable.
