The Goodman Community Center was perfect for our wedding. We used the Ironworks for our ceremony and the Brassworks for our reception. The spaces worked great for our needs, and the staff was really helpful at every step of the way. We got our catering through their Good Works Community Catering and were blown away!! The food was delicious and the catering staff were professional and on top of things! We couldn't be happier with our experience at Goodman Community Center!
We absolutely loved the Goodman Center for our wedding venue! We were in the Brassworks building for our cocktail hour reception (wedding was at a nearby church). Liza and Viv were absolutely FANTASTIC to work with. We loved them both. Overall, we were thrilled with how everything turned out. We also used their in-house catering and were really happy with the price and quality.
I hosted my wedding here last weekend. Our ceremony was in the Ironworks building and our reception was in the Brassworks building. I can't say enough great things about the Goodman Center, the event coordinator Liza, and the whole staff and service team. Liza was incredibly helpful through every step of the process. During the event, the staff and bartenders did an exceptional job and the food was fantastic. The venue is beautiful and did not need much decorating. I got so many compliments on the space and the dinner. For a great price (that supports the Madison community) I would highly recommend the Goodman Center for your wedding.
We really enjoyed having our wedding and reception at Goodman. It is a beautiful venue and it's nice that the event rooms are all located together on one end that is stayed pretty private. They were very easy to work with. The only issue we had was they told us we could have a smaller attached room (that we could use to put some odds and ends in) but the day before they told us we could no longer use the room. Overall- great experience. We only used them for the event space and bar service (not catering).
The venue was very pretty and easy to use but they double booked the smaller room I put a deposit on! They made it right and gave me a larger room for no extra fee, but it was a headache replanning for the other room. I love the community center however, and this wouldn't stop me from booking them again for other events. We did not use catering or bar services, so I can't comment on those.
This review is about the Goodman Community Center as a whole. We had our ceremony in the Ironworks building & the reception in the newly completed Brassworks building.
My husband & I went to a craft fair at the Ironworks building & I fell in love with the building, the architecture, brickwork, its mission. We decided to try having our wedding in the space. We had too many guests to fit in the Ironworks building & after talking to Kristi learned they were working on a new building so we took a chance and booked it after seeing only a few artist renderings. And we are so happy we did. The building is absolutely stunning!!! We were able to have a relaxed, intimate, spacious wedding ceremony & reception that we both wanted.
Working with the venue is the only reason we gave 4 stars. The staff for the events coordinator & caterer are both wonderful people who are extremely overworked. You had better be organized to stay on track. We waited months for a catering quote & needed to pay in full that month. We also were surprised to find a linens quote that had to be paid that day the week of the wedding.
Overall, the food was good, bar staff friendly, atmosphere spectacular, beautiful backdrop for photos & a great cause to spend our money on the community.
Amazing center! Very very beautiful! Shockingly flexible - use any caterer or none at all (which is what we did)! There's a service kitchen for non-professional food providers, too. There were a few challenges with the A/V setup - it was hard to use and my staffer was not fully trained; but that should be addressable for other users in future. Staff (other than my inexperienced person) went out of their way to make things easy for us, and everyone had a great time. GREAT value, too!!
