The closer you look at it and once Amanda, who is the Director of Weddings and Events, tells you it is $12,000 to have a wedding there and this does not include anything but what is in the picture from the information on this site. Amanda and Jamie, the banquet manager, did not share our excitement about having a wedding but we kept going with the tour. The ceremony site is nice but needs a lot of clean up and more attention to it is needed. The patio had trash laying around, and was not astetically pleasing to look at. The adult lounge for cocktail hour is pretty and has its own bar for drinks. The rotunda was the prettiest part of the tour and would make a great place for pictures. The ballroom and what they called cocktail area was plain and simple but elegant. The balcony needs work along with peeling paint and water stained ceilings along the ballroom and hallway outside. We could overlook these things to an extent, not a deal breaker. The table linens were wrinkled and when I asked would they be steamed, I was told no. The chargers were old and worn, the "fine china" was plain white plates and the silverware and water glasses were not what I liked. We asked about dance floor, center pieces, etc. and all the expenses for those were ours. if we wanted anything more then what they have it is a cost. Then we went into cost of food and alcohol. The costs just kept going up. Now I know weddings are expensive but for the base cost to "get in the door" was way more than the quality I was going to get. With this being my only daughter I want a spectacular venue without the cheap feel and they didn't have a care for attention to detail. Anything beyond the basic was cost after cost. They treated us as a sale not a potential bride having a beautiful wedding. We chose to go else where once we received the cost for the food and alcohol and it was not specialty items. It was a get what you get or you can go else where attitude. For the cost of the vendor meals , they should have been more than a chicken sandwich and chips especially after I found out from someone that the employees get to eat the extra food that we paid for. There was a cost per person to cut the cake. Everything was on the cheap end with an expensive price tag. I was sadly disappointed and we decided to go with Barnsley Gardens.

r family and friends to our young, rowdy friends, not ONE person had a complaint. Still to this day I am told that this was one of the best weddings our guests have ever attended. From the attention to detail to the space, everything went off flawlessly. If there was an issue that day, I honestly had no idea. I have shared this venue with so many people, even a friend that ended up getting married a few months before I did, and everyone has glowing reviews. If you are thinking about touring or hosting your event at Governors Towne Club, please have ZERO reservations about this decision, it is the RIGHT ONE. Everything that went into this space was thought through, down to the velvet textured walls in the men’s room and the breathtaking bridal suite. The food was truly amazing. Amanda and her team worked seamlessly with my wedding planner and all of our vendors. I sit and daydream about our special day all the time and want to relive it again and again. I am so happy I went with Governors Towne Club, and you will be too.

outheast, Governors Towne Club. From the moment of my first tour, I was brought to tears by the space. Entering the grand ballroom, this place exuberates elegance and class. The first person I came into contact with at the venue was Amanda. She is the Director of Weddings and Events and has had years of experience in the events/wedding industry. Not only is Amanda an expert at her craft, she cares about her brides. I was planning our wedding 18 months ahead, then COVID hit. She kept me up to date with policies and venue development. In Facebook bridal groups and amongst my friends, I hear about horror stories of venue coordinators that are horrible. I would look at those posts and feel so bad that other brides do not have someone like Amanda in their corner. I toured three other prestigious courses in the area and nothing held a candle to Governors Towne Club. As my wedding planner said the moment she saw the venue, “It is the best country club venue I have ever seen, down to the attention to décor details”. The week before the wedding, I had an unfortunate event occur with my mother in regards to the financial aspect of the event. I won’t get into details because it was extremely hurtful, but my wedding planner and Mother-in-Law let Amanda know what was going on. Not only did Amanda and her team figure out a solution, but they let me know to not worry about one thing that everything was under control and would be ok. The days leading up to the wedding, Amanda was only worried about me. They asked me what my boundaries were and she made it clear to everyone on the team to keep an eye out for me. Amanda checked on me multiple times throughout the night of the rehearsal dinner and continuously on the wedding day. When I tell you things were going sideways real quick, they could have, but Amanda literally saved my wedding day. Right before I got engaged, I lost my father and a few years before that I lost my big sister. Amanda knew I was worried about the emotional aspect of the day, I will never forget her kindness and grace she showed me throughout this entire planning experience. She will forever be engrained in my heart and a lifelong friend. Amanda, I love you so much! Maelee is another person I will never forget at GTC. She is the Food and Beverage Manager. Not only does she manage an excellent team, you can tell everyone in the Food/Beverage department at GTC has a solid team feel to them, and I credit that to her. Maelee made sure I never went hungry, and most importantly, never ran out of my favorite wine! Like a lot of brides, I wanted two signature cocktails and an open bar. They made sure my entire beverage list was fully stocked and put emphasis on my signature cocktails. For our plated menu, I had a dream of recreating our first date meal (filet and seabass) that we had at Blue Ridge Grill back in 2015. Maelee and her team made it happen. Maelee also was a point person, along with Amanda, that made sure our night was everything we could have ever dreamt of. Thank you so much Maelee, I love you so much!
