I had been to Langleys for other events (baby shower, retirement party), but it wasn’t until my family mentioned going there to talk about having our September 2024 wedding there t...
hat I realized they also did weddings. My husband and I went to a couple bridal shows and went to one venue and were really struggling to find something that fit our wants and needs, as well as being budget friendly. We decided to check out Langleys on a whim. We were instantly sold. Beverly was so laid back and friendly. Throughout the entire wedding planning process, I just couldn’t believe how accommodating Brian and Beverly were. It truly was whatever we wanted (real candles, having a Photo Booth, fitting our bridal party with their plus ones at one large head table, etc). Only downsides if you can even call them that:
A little hard to get ahold of them by phone (I found it easier to email and either Brian or Beverly responded relatively quickly). They do have multiple events there in the same day, so I was a little stressed that our vendors wouldn’t have enough time in between to set up. However, we were assured by Langleys that there was plenty of time to set up and there was. You have to remember that these vendors do this all the time and they were great at putting it all together. I do think it was very tight walking down the aisle for 2 people (let alone 3 as I walked down with my dad and brother). If I could recommend anything, it would be having your bridesmaids and groomsmen walk down individually. They also typically have the bridal party enter down the aisle from the restaurant doors and I didn’t love that, but they let us enter from the side of the building along the patio and it made for a slightly longer walk out which I wanted). Again, not cons at all, but things to keep in mind and it would in no way deter me from having an event there.
All the pros and there are so many. They let us pick a day that was convenient to drop off all of our wedding decor. I would recommend having everything organized (what’s going on what table together) and labeled, as well as something written explaining all of your decor, what it is, where you want it and exactly how you want it set up. They did a PHENOMENAL job setting up everything for us. The day was organized and they really let us go at our own pace and do things as we wanted. We had an issue with one of our vendors who was supposed to hang our lights and after trying to find alternative solutions, the vendor ended up hanging them with the help from one of the cooks. I couldn’t believe that he was so willing to help and I didn’t realize until days later, so I wanted to thank him. Our youngest son also got injured right before the ceremony and both Beverly and Brian were so calm and reassured us that it was our day and we could start when we wanted to, no rush. They were just on top of everything all day, including getting one of our guests a separate plate for Hors D'oeuvre because she has a shellfish allergy. They checked in on us multiple times throughout the night to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. They were just great and all of our guests commented on their professionalism and service. They also packed up all of our decor after the wedding and let us return the following day to pick it up (huge weight lifted off of us because who wants to take everything home that night) and pay our bill. I could not recommend them more for your wedding. They truly did a WONDERFUL job.
We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Great Neck and we had an absolute blast! My honest pros and cons:
Pros:
The price at Great Neck just cannot be beat. Buffet and sit dow...
n are the same price and open bar is so affordable. The food was also really great! We didn’t find anything comparable anywhere in this area. The banquet room is also really beautiful! Bev is your contact for weddings and she was laid back the entire time. We weren’t forced into following any strict schedule and we essentially got to run our own day how we wanted. We weren’t forced out when the clock struck the end of the reception. The dance floor was big enough for dancing for our guests and we partied so hard and had such a fun time! They set up all of our decor for us and broke everything down and we were able to go in a couple days after to pick up our things and pay our final bill. Just so low stress and that was so great for me.
Cons: We were a little disappointed that we did not get the full patio for our ceremony and an outside bar like we were told when we toured the place. Our 120 guests were really crammed on the patio for our ceremony without the whole space. It was also really tough to fit our whole party up with us just because it’s a skinny area. I would honestly recommend having a ceremony at a different location and moving for the reception if that is the case. The TV has been taken down too on the patio but the bracket is still there which is a little unsightly. We built a hexagon arch to cover it which worked perfectly, but measuring the space ahead of time was important. My only other critique is that they brought cake out pretty late when people were dancing (which is really common at all weddings) and then they took it away fast too. As the bride I didn’t even get to touch my cake and when I went to my table it was gone. So I wasn’t a fan of that. I know they are a little short staffed too so the clean up of dinner and handing out cake was probably harder than usual.
Not necessarily a con, but there isn’t really any space to sit for a few minutes with your new spouse, before or after your wedding. We did a first look before which was key for us so we could spend alone time together, we didn’t get another chance all day. Before the ceremony we waited in the ladies locker room which was roomy with a nice bathroom and perfect for me and my bridesmaids, but not set up for just the couple. You won’t really have that here if you’re looking for it. Also not a con, but if you prefer to communicate over email this might not be the right fit for you. Phone is definitely preferred which worked fine for me once I realized that. And if you are very type A and want to micro manage all the details this might also not be the fit. The vibe is very relaxed and I was eventually okay just letting them take care of it all and not stressing about it, it actually worked out much better for me.
Overall our wedding was so amazing and I am really happy with our decision. Our ceremony was only ten minutes so I don’t think the cons for that really impacted our day all that much in the grand scheme of things, and I’m also giving some slack for the cake because of staffing during covid. The pros definitely outweighed the cons for us so I’m keeping 5 stars. Recommend this venue if you are looking for an easy going vibe and an affordable price!
Brian from Great Neck Country Club was absolutely amazing to work with. He made sure everything was perfect for our special day!
The team at Langley's at Great Neck Country Club was better than I could've imagined for my wedding on June 16, 2018. They had everything handled and planned and took away so much ...
of my stress! When we went for our food tasting, they originally told us that we would just order something similar to what we were thinking off the menu, but they actually ended up customizing all of our meals (and only charged us half price) and comping our drinks, which was such a nice touch. Two days before the wedding we went to meet with Brian to discuss last minute details, make final payment, and bring all of the things we wanted put out at our wedding (seating chart, table labels, cake topper, decorations, social media sign, card box, etc.) and told him where we wanted everything, and when we showed up for the wedding it was exactly how we wanted it! Beverly was there that day to make sure everything went well, and it did! She made sure that we both always had a drink, even though the open bar shut down for an hour (the package is a five hour reception with a four hour open bar), and made sure that everything was the way we wanted and we were always happy. She assisted us in the cake cutting because we didn't have our own cake knife, and worked closely with my florist to make sure everything was where it needed to be on the day of. We had the patio open for the entire night and there was a bar out on the patio for cocktail hour, which was great because it cut down on the line for both the inside and the outside bar. Just for anyone who is looking into this, you only get the second bar for cocktail hour if you have over 100 guests, and we had 102 including ourselves, so they are really true to that policy. People spent a lot of time outside on the patio, and we were so happy to have that available to us. I would absolutely recommend Great Neck Country Club to anyone in southeastern Connecticut because Brian and Beverly made sure to take away all of our stress. My original goal when planning a wedding was to hire as few vendors as possible in order to avoid having to coordinate with too many different people, and they definitely helped with that. They were the bar service, food service, set everything up (tables, linens, chairs, etc. included), and broke everything down and we couldn't be more pleased. The food was DELICIOUS! Not even for wedding food, but just in general. The bartenders were great and the guests were all pleased with everything. After breaking everything down the night of our wedding, Beverly saved all of our stuff that wasn't disposable for us to come pick up the next day. The bartenders started to shut down the bar earlier than expected, but that's because the bar opened earlier than expected, but when we asked for them to say last call before they shut down, they happily left the bar open for any last minute people. Again, would recommend to anyone looking for a great and stress-free reception!
Nice place to have a small wedding! Food is good. They will help you out all the way, reasonable price! Beautiful place but can't use most of the nicest area for pictures, only by ...
the patio or inside because there's always golf players around..
We were thrilled with how our wedding reception went at Great Neck. The venue is beautiful, both the inside room as well as the covered patio where we held the ceremony. The pati...
o is absolutely gorgeous, and guests are able to mingle out there after the ceremony. It's both covered and they have heaters if it's chilly. We had a smaller wedding and found the inside room to be a good size, we didn't feel overwhelmed by it.
Both Brian and Bev were wonderful to work with leading up to the wedding. They quickly responded to emails and phone calls and were very accommodating when we needed to set up times to go in and see them.
We were able to leave all of our decorations there the day before and they had it all set up as we wanted in plenty of time for the ceremony. Bev was there the day of to make sure that everything went well.
The food was amazing, our guests loved it. Everything from the appetizers, to the pasta station and carving station was perfect.
The staff was very attentive to our guests, as well as to us. We had a server bringing us drinks and appetizers as we were doing pictures. Great Neck and their staff know what they're doing when it comes to weddings and we couldn't be happier.
Brian, Beverly, and the whole staff at GNCC/Langley's is AMAZING! Everyone is helpful and laid back. The food is outstanding, and there's plenty of it. They attended to the brid...
al party once we got there from taking pictures. There was a drink in my hand and appetizers in front of me immediately. It's a beautiful venue all year round! The outdoor porch space makes the whole place. Guests can get some fresh air while enjoying the beautiful fireplace. I wouldn't change a thing! They nailed it and made our wedding day flawless. Also, the price is very affordable!!!
I recently had my ceremony & reception at the country club. Brian and Bev were both a pleasure to work with. They made it easy for me by having my vendors contact them directly if ...
they had any questions, so there would be no issue of a middle man messenger. The food was excellent, as was the staff. The ceremony was beautiful, although we had about 110 guests, and there was not enough seating on the patio, so some guests had to stand. Although, the patio was beautiful come reception time. Since it was a nice June evening, many guests hung around outside and it was a very relaxed environment. Bev was at the event the entire time and helped me coordinate with my groom so we would not see each other beforehand. She was extremely helpful day of and was very involved. The overall experience was excellent, and I enjoyed my time there!
We held our reception at Great Neck Country Club and it was a wonderful, stress-free experience. The space they have for weddings is gorgeous -- big cathedral ceilings and huge win...
dows looking out over the golf course. There is also a patio area where guests can sit outside, and they provide a fire and space heaters in case it's chilly (as it was for our April wedding). Working with Brian Langley to coordinate everything for our event could not have been easier. The food from Langley's restaurant was great, and they were more than willing to accommodate several guests with special dietary needs. Brian and his assistant were also there the night of to make sure everything went as planned. We felt like they really wanted to take care of us, and we would absolutely recommend Great Neck Country Club to anyone looking for a beautiful and reasonably-priced venue.
