We hired Taryn for our elopement photo’s in Palm Springs,CA on 5/19/2025! She was 100000% phenomenal. She made the experience from the beginning to end with communication and keeping us in the know on everything so easy. We talked prior to the photo shoot and discussed locations. We had our locations picked but she also recommended some spots as well. When we first met her it was like meeting an old friend not a stranger. We are from KY but my brother n laws live in LA and has a place in Palm Springs. So we were nervous and just wanted our pictures to be perfect. After meeting her all my worries left and we laughed and it was so hot!! She was a trooper we have way too many pics to post but she did an exceptional job! I recommend her and you will not be disappointed! Ty again Taryn for being you!

I am an award winning So Cal and Colorado based fine art wedding photographer who specializes in evocative and unique wedding photography world wide. I most often travel to between California, Colorado and Wy-daho (Wyoming and Idaho), as I have family in those areas but I LOVE to travel anywhere. I grew up overseas so for me, traveling is like breathing. It comes naturally! I shoot both digital and film photography, also known as hybrid shooting, and love shooting in amazing new destinations. I love that I use film and digital photography to tell a love story. Everyone’s love story, all love, is inspirational. And I think I trace this love of love back to childhood. Since I was a little girl I was obsessed with my parents wedding album. I loved the stories that went along with each photo, how my mom’s dress strap broke and my grandma had to last minute pin it for her. How the shortest and tallest bridesmaids wore the same size and mixed up dresses so the tallest bridesmaid ended up with the shortest dress, and the shortest ended up with the longest. I think I realized even then how important photos are to preserving those memories and details, things you would probably forget with out them. My education was a combination of Art Cinema and film photography, so my photography is inspired by that. It’s a combination of classic art portraiture, cinematic composition, and authentic moments as they unfold. Every wedding is a unique story waiting to be told, and my eye looks for those sweet little things you may miss.

ate the most from Taryn was her quiet confident and professionalism. Hire her! I found out about Taryn through another vendor, as I always liked to ask vendors for recommendations of other vendors. I am so glad she did! My initial call with Taryn showed me how knowledgeable she is. She gave me some tips right off the bat, and I got a really positive, casual yet professional feeling about Taryn. She was able to also find me a make up artist. A photographer is one of the vendors that you will spend a lot of time planning with and on day of. We exchanged emails every couple of months (and then weeks / days leading into the big day) to figure out everything from recommended locations for our engagement shoot to locking in last-minute schedule changes based on what I wanted. She was super flexible, responsive, and communicative throughout. Taryn recommends an engagement shoot, and I'm sure glad we did one. I felt like my husband and I were more giggly and awkward, but we got that out of our system so our day of photos were wonderful and we felt confident day of - a super important detail! She also met up with me to walk our venue a few weeks before our day. We were getting married at UCSD, and since neither me nor my husband went to UCSD we were a little nervous about making the photos look great. During the walk-through, Taryn and I collaborated on ideas. On the day of our wedding, Taryn arrived and was incredibly helpful. For example, when something minorly went wrong with a vendor, Taryn helped go speak with the vendor directly to see what the situation was. I felt like she was #teambride (or #teamcouple hah!) all the way through. Taryn made sure that we hit the locations we wanted to, and balanced that with some desires of ours like making sure we were able to take photos with each table. She delivered our photos a few weeks after our wedding, and they're spectacular. The photos look natural and very representative of what our day looked like. I'm so pleased!!! I'm really happy with our decision, and highly encourage you to speak with the lovely Taryn to hire her for your event. Best of luck!

Taryn and her assistants. In our engagement shoot, Taryn did an excellent job warming my husband and I up to getting our photos taken and being comfortable in front of the camera. Come wedding day, Taryn and her crew flew out to Cabo San Lucas for our wedding weekend. Needless to say, Taryn also served as my therapist and part time wedding coordinator on top of getting fabulous photos. On our wedding day, Taryn didn't treat us like just another job or just another couple getting married - she treated us with such kindness that I felt that she was celebrating our love with us. Taryn took the time to pull us aside before the reception to just sit, enjoy a cocktail and take in the emotions of the day - not being photographed, away from the madness. I am so grateful to her for that quiet moment in that day cause if not for her, we probably wouldn't have thought to do that. Our photos came before we knew it and we were blown away. Taryn perfectly captured all the big and small moments in the day, even some we forgot about or didn't know about. She completely understood what we were going for and gave us so many great ideas on how to elevate our special day. I love how personable she is and how she always keeps in contact. I even sent her a text on a weekend evening to confirm a location and she responded immediately (sorry about that 😅) . o are getting ready to tie the knot know, vendors are necessary, and you need more than one. That means the costs add up. Prior to us making a decision on who we wanted to utilize for photography, Taryn and I had a FaceTime meeting. I learned about her style which was just like mine and she calmed my nerves when we discussed pricing. She is upfront and honest and very reasonably priced. Most photographers I spoke with charged extra for an engagement session, but Taryn includes this in her package and pricing which was so awesome! To be honest, I didn’t even think I wanted an engagement session, but she talked me into it and man, I’m so happy she did! She traveled to the location of our choice which wasn’t entirely close to her, and captured not only beautiful photos of us, but memories. They are hung throughout my house! Our wedding day was perfect. No seriously, it was. Nothing went wrong! I arrived to Taryn already on property snapping away at the beautiful grounds. We chose to only have photography for 5 hours but I swear she was there earlier and even later! She’s a true talent and doesn’t miss an opportunity to capture something amazing. She made us both feel so comfortable which was especially important for my husband who’s a bit camera shy. You wouldn’t have even known that if you saw our pictures. We never felt posed, awkward or corny. Huge for me! I wanted to be as natural as possible. We were honestly so relaxed with her. Her suggestions were always accepted and appreciated. I truly can’t express how much we love her! When we received our wedding photos I don’t think I stopped smiling and/or laughing. Laughing because she captured the most fun moments of the night...the dancing, singing, break dancing, etc! I just totally lit up because I didn’t even think we would be able get those photos due to our 5 hours, but she got em! Brides, grooms...book Taryn with Great Woodland Photography. You will not be disappointed! I look forward to booking Taryn in the future for all other life events!!

She took the time to get to know me and my husband and our sense of style before our engagement shoot, and put us at ease right from the get go. She also spends several days before the shoots (both engagement and wedding) on her own time to scope out various areas, lighting at different times of day, etc. You can tell she’s very passionate and knowledgeable about what she does and wants to deliver the best work possible for her clients. Also, it’s no secret that I am SUPER picky when it comes to photos, and from the start I had many many requests for Taryn, as well as some requests for editing a few of the photos afterward (solely due to my own stylistic preference). Taryn was incredibly patient with all of these requests, and put in SO many additional hours of work to make sure I was satisfied. She just went above and beyond. My husband and I are floored by all of our wedding photos…Taryn captured so many beautiful moments that tell the story our day just perfectly. Prior to our wedding, she visited the site to find the best spots for pictures and even notified us when she noticed the grounds weren't being kept, which definitely was above and beyond. During the wedding, she kept us on schedule and made sure get the photos we wanted. We're super pleased with Taryn's work and awesome personality. She went above and beyond and then some, she had the timeline nailed down and knew the ins and outs of the area, sunset, etc. She literally is the best, just let her work her magic!!!
