Grey Skies Wedding Planning

ith Katie's planning meetings led us to have low confidence in how things would go on the wedding day. I was frequently having to confirm details like meeting dates and even making sure she had the correct couple, as we were mixed up with other couples several times (she edited the wrong couple's planning form for a good portion of our meeting once). She also missed a planning meeting that we had to reschedule during a time that was incredibly hard to schedule around. We ended up taking on the bulk of Katie's responsibilities as they were not getting taken care of or the details were incorrect.  At the rehearsal, we all felt very rushed through the process. We had to meet with our bridal party after Katie departed early to go over details again. Our bridal party would ask Katie questions for clarification and they were met with short answers or were blown off.  Katie had agreed at our planning meetings (and we had listed on the decor packing sheet she had) that she would be setting up our cookie table. This was a very special tribute table for our families. When she arrived, I had to ask if she set up the table, and she replied by saying that she wouldn't be setting it up, she didn't have a food handlers license. This was never what we agreed to before, she always said she would set them up. I had to ask her to have someone else set it up since I was in hair and makeup, and she failed to coordinate with the venue to do so. I had to talk with the venue in the midst of my first look of the venue with my husband - a time that was supposed to be special for us - because the desserts were never set up.  We told Katie in our planning meetings and in writing to not clean up before 10 pm - she still would have had plenty of time to clean everything within her contracted hours. Instead, we saw her deliberately ignore this and start cleaning up before 10 pm, which indicated to several guests that the night was ending early (it was not). Katie also left 4 boxes at our venue (we had to rush in and retrieve immediately the next day) and packed several things at the end of the night without bubble wrap that I had provided - including 8 photo frames of family photos. She also rolled my veil in a ball and stuffed it into a bag - this nearly ruined the veil when I discovered it upon arriving at the hotel. We were severely disappointed in Katie's lack of service, but more importantly, in the lack of kindness and respect given to us, our bridal party, and our families. Several people gave me feedback on the unprofessionalism displayed by Katie at our event, and I witnessed it firsthand when she would often result to blaming me for mistakes she would make. We had incredible experiences with our other vendors, but Katie/Grey Skies were a huge let down and we would not recommend hiring her for your wedding. 

that I didn't book Katie for her partial planning package! Katie was amazing at making sure everything ran smoothly. She has a genuine love and excitement for weddings and all things planning, and she made me even more excited for my wedding! Katie was there for me with anything I needed before our ceremony and helped coordinate with our vendors, helped me get my train and veil down the steps, made sure that my husband and I had a drink in our hand once we were married, and got us a plate of food set aside while we took family photos! She literally made everything such a breeze, and if anything did go wrong I had no idea. I cannot recommend Katie enough, and how necessary it is to have her as (at least!) a day of coordinator to make sure your special day goes smoothly and stress free!

hout my vendor search process that this eagerness to connect and communicate is important, and Katie certainly followed through every step of the way. Even though all we needed was a day-of-coordinator, Katie delivered so much more! We were able to have several meetings with Katie to discuss our plans, and she was so helpful in suggesting things to think about. She also provides some awesome spreadsheets that helps you track expenses, guest list, contact info for vendors, ceremony layout, etc. As a person, she is super laid-back and has a great sense of humor. Definitely pick Katie!!
