About this vendor
gritty + graceful. calm + cool. unabashedly unique.
Your wedding colors are hot pink and tattoos. You are entering the venue on a horse. Your theme is Game of Thrones. Instead of dancing you are playing board games all night. Yeah, we get you.
Weddings don’t have to be lilies and roses. There is nothing wrong with lilies and roses, we quite like them, but you don’t have to have those. You can have paper flowers or no flowers at all. Your options don’t have to be chicken or beef. Eat lamb ragu or vegan chili. Let’s plan a wedding that looks like the two of you.
You know what makes a wedding awesome? Spending time with the people you love. A wedding doesn’t have to cost $50,000 if you don’t want it to. Spend money on the things that really matter to you. Let’s uproot the idea of what a wedding should look like. Let’s celebrate this commitment you have made to each other. Let’s throw a huge party where everyone has a great time!
Let’s plan this event so well that it doesn’t look planned at all.
SERVICES OFFERED
Grit City Weddings + Events offers several packages for weddings of all shapes and sizes. From elopement or elopement-like to massive 500-guest blow-outs, we have the connections, skill, and passion for weddings to make these awesome celebrations happen. We strive to work with Tacoma and Seattle-based small businesses, especially womxn-owned and Black-owned companies because, often, those are the most badass companies.
We want to work with couples who are on the same page as us, too. That means we agree on some basic tenets: Black lives matter, feminism is for everyone, no human is illegal, science is real, love is love, and religious freedom makes each of our lives rich with compassion. We also look for clients who care more about the marriage than they do about the wedding. Of course, the wedding is an important and pivotal day, but it's just one day in a, hopefully, long string of days. Basically, just be a good human being who wants to celebrate your love surrounded by your friends and family.
Wedding Coordination
You and your friends and family actually get to host and enjoy your event instead of work it. You set up and reach out to all the vendors. We meet a handful of times prior to the big day. You hand over all the responsibilities to us and we provide the point-person to coordinate all things during the event. You can hire us for just the wedding day or for the whole weekend - like for the rehearsal dinner or the next-day brunch. Packages start at $1750.
Wedding Management
In addition to the most important job (day-of coordinator), we can help find the right vendors and provide guidance on the details to make sure it is an event that looks just like the two of you. We can work out a fixed number of hours or budget you want to spend on our services and we will be your thoughtful wedding consultant in addition to the day-of coordination. Packages start at $2750.

To invest in a wedding coordinator is to invest in the peace of mind that your wedding day can truly be the best day of your life and Ashley and her team were INCREDIBLE.
We had a...
100-person wedding with a quartet, and our day had its fair share of last-minute pivots and unexpected challenges. Ashley and her team handled everything seamlessly. They managed to get all 100 guests inside during a weather pivot at Thornewood Castle, and somehow we still managed to start our ceremony right on time!
What I appreciated most, though, was everything they did behind the scenes that I didn’t have to think about, nor would I have the time to do myself. They anticipated needs, handled problems before they ever reached me, and allowed my husband and I to simply be present and enjoy our day. I genuinely felt taken care of from start to finish.
My husband and I both agree that hiring Ashley and her team was the best investment we made for our entire wedding. Our wedding truly would not have been the best day of our lives without them. If you are debating whether a coordinator is worth it, I cannot recommend Ashley and her team enough.
Simply put, we could not have had our amazing wedding without the assistance of Ashley and her team. From our monthly meetings to the coordination day of, Ashley made our wedding u...
nforgettable. When you work with Ashley, you are getting the best and personalized service you’d want from a wedding coordinator. She provided great vendor suggestions that led to a strong vendor team who met our needs beautifully. She helped us narrow down the decorations and aesthetic we wanted while respecting our budget. And on the day of the wedding, she was so organized and efficient that we were able to just enjoy our day together as a married couple. Most importantly, she also ensured that Maddie always had bruschetta on standby so that she did not go hungry throughout the long day.
If you are between wedding coordinators, trust that Ashley has your best interest in mind. Her spreadsheets will help you organize your thoughts and create a solid game plan day of. She has numerous decorations that you can also rent out from her, which makes shopping around for those small details a breeze. Finally, aside from all of that, our biggest suggestion is that no matter who you pick as a wedding coordinator, you will get as much from them as you put in. And with Ashley, she will match your energy and go above and beyond to make your special day the best day ever.
The BEST!!!
When the wedding planning process started to become overwhelming, we lucked out in finding Ashley and signed on for her "Wedding Management" package. She and her team ...
were incredible! Ashely is super organized, very detail oriented, and really fun to be around! She provided us with excellent tailored vendor recommendations, practical advice, organizational tips, cost-saving guidance, you name it -- she delivered! When we had second thoughts about our original venue partway through the planning process, Ashley was so supportive and put in extra work to help us find the perfect place to get married. She helped us stay sane amidst all the wedding hoopla, and her planning tools and monthly meetings helped the overwhelming seem manageable. On the day of the wedding, Ashley and her team made things run smoothly. We didn't have to think about anything or worry about anything because we had talked about it in detail in our planning meetings and we had total trust in the team. The day turned out to be amazing, we had a great time, and the Grit City team took care of numerous things behind the scenes without us ever knowing or needing to get involved. We are forever grateful. If you're on the fence about hiring a wedding planner, do yourselves a tremendous favor and hire Ashley & Grit City. It will be one of the wisest decisions you make in the process. She is truly the best!
Fantastic team. They were extremely organized and were on top of everything. They also made sure we ready and helped figure what we needed to do before the big day.
I could not have planned our 50 guest Seattle wedding without Ashley's help. We opted for the Wedding Management package, and I'm so glad I did. I traveled for work for about 2 mon...
ths in the year before our wedding, so I already had a lot on my plate. Ashley kept me on track, the planning tools were very useful and user-friendly, and the vendors she recommended were amazing to work with. The day went so smoothly with her & Tosha's help - I personally felt like we could really enjoy the day and my guests, could, too. Ashley is just a stellar human being. I cannot say enough good things about her & the Grit City team. You all have Kyle & I's eternal gratitude.
Ashley was the perfect coordinator for our wedding. Her attention to detail, professionalism, and teamwork skills made preparing for our wedding less stressful and our wedding day ...
more enjoyable. She brought a kind and positive energy to our planning process, and she provided helpful resources to help ensure the day ran smoothly. We wish we could give more than 5 stars, and we congratulate future couples on choosing an amazing coordinator!
We are so thankful we had Ashley as our day-of coordinator! She was truly incredible and made our wedding day everything we hoped for. From the moment she arrived, she took charge ...
in the most calm, confident, and thoughtful way - managing every detail so we didn’t have to worry about a thing.
She kept the timeline running smoothly, worked seamlessly with our vendors, and handled little things behind the scenes that we never even knew about. Thanks to her, we were able to be fully present, relaxed, and just enjoy the day with our family and friends.
Her organization, professionalism, and warm personality made such a difference. If you’re on the fence about hiring a day-of coordinator, do yourself the biggest favor and book with Grit City Weddings - truly the best decision we made for our wedding!
Hiring Grit City was one of the best wedding planning decisions we made! I am so grateful to have had Ashley and her crew as our day of coordinators for our wedding. Ashley is unbe...
lievably organized - getting to use her spreadsheets alone was worth the money and I knew that she had thought through every possible to-do item. I felt SO supported throughout the whole wedding process because of Ashley’s expertise, and even though we did her minimal day of coordination package instead of the full wedding planning package, she knew every detail of our wedding and executed it to a tee on our wedding day. Even though wedding planning was stressful leading up to the wedding, we weren’t stressed at all on the wedding weekend knowing our wedding day was in Ashley’s hands. She brought the best possible energy throughout our planning process + wedding day, and we couldn’t have asked for a better coordinator!
I cannot imagine anybody being better at wedding coordination than Ashley. It was like watching a professional athlete or artist perform their craft. Her positive energy, kindness,...
and competence were unwavering throughout our entire months-long experience with her. I could not recommend Ashley enough.
BEST MONEY WE SPENT
Ashley was the first vendor we hired for our wedding and thank goodness she was. She explained to us the difference between coordinators and planners, and we w...
ere shocked at how much her coordinator package covers for such a generous price. She personally recommended every single other vendor we hired, gave us tools to keep our planning on track and double check that everything was running smoothly, and answered all my insane, neurotic questions.
She has so much experience. She was able to guide me to ask questions I never would have thought of asking on my own. She had ideas I never would have thought of that made our wedding so fun! She went to our tasting with us and helped make sure our guests dietary restrictions were covered (and asked even more questions we wouldn't have known to ask). She picked up our rentals early and brought them to the venue and then set everything up for us. Her day-of team was so capable, professional and fun.
If you want a vendor that is going to help you plan the event YOU want to have, help you set everything up and then take over so you can relax and have fun, Ashley is your person. If you want a vendor that you can put your full trust in (and even share intimate personal details if you need to), Ashley is your person. If you want a vendor that is warm, kind, accepting, organized, and rolls with the punches, Ashley is your person. I have 0 regrets, and, knowing everything I know now, would hire her again at double her price.
Ashley was the best! I am SO glad that my husband and I hired Ashley for our wedding day coordination. It was 100% money well spent. She is worth every penny. We discovered her at ...
the Seattle Wedding Show and immediately knew that she would help make our wedding dreams come true. Her overall vibe and can do personality were a perfect match for us and our day. I am extremely type A, organized and detail-oriented, so I needed to make sure we hired someone I could trust.
Ashley helped us with a major and unexpected issue right before the wedding. Our originally contracted photographer completely ghosted us. We had been reaching out to her for about a month trying to contact her about wedding logistics and to pay our final bill, all with no answer. Finally, three days before the wedding we had still not heard back from her despite numerous attempts to reach her via text, phone, voicemail, instagram, and telegram. I was really freaking out and in a huge anxiety spiral. I realized that I should tell Ashley about it and I am forever grateful for her help and care. She began trying to reach the original photographer while simultaneously reached out to photographers she knew to see who was available last minute. She set us up with a back-up, negotiated a lower rate to help with our budget (the new photographer was much more expensive than the original), and gave the original photographer a notice with a deadline to reach us "or we would have to initiate our backup plan." We ended up using the new back-up photographer and LOVED him so much! Thanks to Ashley, we have gorgeous photos to remember our special day. She really saved us and relieved my intense anxiety so I could have a great rest of the wedding weekend.
I was so amazed to see everything we planned come together on the day of the wedding. Ashley executed what we had planned beautifully. I was really impressed with all the tablescapes that I had lovingly and meticulously designed and crafted come to life with her assemblage. She made the whole day stress free for my husband and me, our bridal party, family, and guests. We had around 68 people at our wedding ceremony and reception (both at Heritage Hall and Centennial Gardens in Kirkland). I could not imagine doing this without her! She worked her butt off with her assistants and coordinated the rest of the staff and vendors that we had hired for the party. If you are looking for someone to help you have a stress-free, beautiful, and on-time wedding, I definitely recommend Ashley and her team!
We hired Ashley for her wedding coordination service, and she vastly exceeded our expectations. We met with over video-chat multiple times before the wedding to get on the same pag...
e, ask questions, and get to know each other. We went into the wedding day feeling prepared and supported.
The thing we noticed most about Ashley’s level of service was the fact that we DIDN’T notice any of the many things she was doing behind the scenes. We saw her when we needed to, and she was everywhere else at once. She maintained a great calm and collected energy throughout the day, and our families said she was lovely to work with as well.
There were moments during the wedding (we found out later) that skewed slightly off plan, but Ashley is such an expert that she remedied them all as they came with quick wit and insight.
We literally had the PERFECT wedding day, and Ashley was a huge reason for that. We have already recommended her to our cousin who is getting married (with Ashley as their planner!), and we would recommend her 1000x more.
Wow. All I can say it wow! Ashley and her team are MIRACLE WORKERS! From the moment I met Ashley at a wedding show I knew we had to hire her. Friendly, helpful, sweet, supportive, ...
and oh my, that spreadsheet!!! The entire process from meeting to planning to rehearsal and all the way through the end of our wedding night was made immensely more enjoyable and less stressful thanks to Ashley and Tosha (and their wonderful assistants who came on the wedding day!) I can’t recommend them enough-they made the wedding run smoothly and it was as perfect as can be! Hiring Grit City was the BEST choice we made for our wedding. Thank you Ashley and Tosha!!❤️❤️

he helped us plan things we didn't even think of. The week of my wedding she took over contacting all of the vendors which helped relieve so much stress. The day of the wedding Ashley and her team were on top of everything. She helped tell everyone where and when they had to be somewhere, including the wedding party and guests. I can not express how amazing it was having them be involved in my wedding. They set up the decorations better than I even invisioned. I highly highly HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who is getting married.

ay of coordination but I feel like Ashley really helped me stay organized along the way. She also helped me stay calm during this entire process.
The day of the wedding everything ran so smoothly that my guests made comments on how easy and organized the event was. Ashley and her assistants Tirza and Logan were always around day of wedding to ensure bride, groom and wedding party were well taken care of.
We had an outdoor ceremony with reception in a tent. That evening there was an insane rain and windstorm. I was very very nervous but Ashley and her crew not only kept others calm but also sprung into action to save all my wedding gifts and signage from the rain. They went above and beyond to basically save the day! Ashley was fun to work work with and has so much knowledge it really takes the stress and pressure off. She has the perfect balance of getting the job done while not losing site of the bride and groom's vision. She really took time to understand who we were and what was important to us for our wedding.
I give my highest recommendation of Grit City Weddings and am SO happy with the service and really coming through on my big day. Thank you!
Ashley is a pure joy to work with! Choosing Grit City for the day of coordination and design for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made through the whole process. Throug...
h every step of the process, Ashley was there to answer our questions and provide feedback on our ideas. Not only is she knowledgeable in all things wedding, but she takes all the stress out of planning. In the week leading up to the big day I was able to give her complete control over all vendor communications and all planning duties. Not once did I ever worry about something getting lost or forgotten about, Ashley exceeded every expectation and I was able to relax and just enjoy the celebration! I can’t give enough praise to Ashley and her team for how seamless they made the wedding day and the entire time leading up to it. They were excited, organized and prepared for anything that came up. The train of my dress ripped 30 minutes before the ceremony and they were there with a thread gun and a smile to fix me right up. Truly the greatest team, book them for your wedding you will NOT regret it!
I don't even know where to start about Ashley! Put simply, without her, I wouldn't have been able to get married. She is so committed to the production of weddings, and her passion...
echoes in her work. She is detail-oriented while also managing to be down to earth and relaxed—a combination I did not think existed! We threw some complicated and wild things on her plate, and she handled them all with ease.
Throwing these types of events is already stressful enough, if you want someone who will not add more stress to your life, who will make the art of planning a wedding something you are excited about, then you need to hire Ashley and her team.

dding Ashley and Tosha made sure everything went smoothly and were quick to problem solve (e.g. when I spilled a drink on my skirt). If anything went wrong on our wedding day, we had no clue. They radiated kindness and joy all day, and multiple friends commented on how great they both were. We highly recommend working with Grit City.
My wedding day was perfect. And it's all because of Ashley and her team at Grit City. I'm a Type A person, hyper-organized, and a designer that already had a vision for my weddin...
g. So it was very important that I find someone that was as equally detail-oriented, that I would feel comfortable working with, and that could make my design vision a reality. After interviewing multiple wedding planners, the choice was so obvious - Grit City! I worked with Ashley for over a year making my wedding vision a reality. She was so knowledgeable and helpful along the way, I absolutely could not have done this without her. On the day of the wedding, Ashley made sure that I relinquish my tendencies to take on too much and insisted that she take care of all the details. She even made sure my son got what he needed to get ready for the event when he had to arrive separately from football camp. She wanted to make sure I was able to focus on my big day and not worry at all about everything and everyone else. The wedding, decor, ambience exceeded my vision and expectations. Even my wedding guests took notice at how hard she worked the entire day to make sure everyone was having fun, relaxed and enjoying the moment. I made the right choice in selecting Ashley and Grit City!

ity amidst so many decisions and timelines. We couldn't have done it without her! Ashley is kind, patient, smart, and caring. We felt like she was always rooting for us and wanted to help create a day that fit our vision and who we are as a couple. We couldn't recommend Grit City Weddings more highly. It'll be the best investment you make in your big day!
Ashley is amazing at what she does! Incredibly organized, professional, and makes everything happen just how you want it while being super easy going!

ocuments to track contracts, amounts paid, and what was left to be done. She was so open to doing things differently than an average wedding, and gave us ideas and potential vendors. Ashley is insanely calm under pressure; I’m an air traffic controller and she made the chaos look easy (and did it with a smile). I felt like what we paid was a bargain for all that she did for us! She made our wedding run flawlessly and exactly how we imagined it!

ooking for, and Ashley handled it all amazingly, from recommending the perfect vendors to keeping us on track and making sure we had everything we needed to truly make it our day. Ashley worked very closely with myself and our maid of honor to make sure the day went perfectly, and was an excellent day-of coordinator. We went with their Wedding Management package and, as someone who can be a bit of a control freak, it was exactly what we needed; Ashley took care of the things we needed done and pointed me in the right direction for all the things we wanted to do ourselves. On the day of the wedding, we truly were able to relax and enjoy ourselves knowing that Ashley had it all taken care of. I cannot recommend her enough!

ty enough! From the first conversation, you could tell their broad experience left us in very capable hands. Ashley managed to be both incredibly friendly and easy to talk to while also being ridiculously efficient. The Grit City team provides a ton of planning resources to their couples and we met several times leading up to the event, all of which left us feeling relaxed and confident about our big day. On the wedding day, they arrived with smiling faces and kept things running smoothly and looking even better than we'd hoped. Their whole team was just delightful to work with and I am so glad they were there to help make our day perfect!

They were really patient and positive, and were just an overall joy to be around. The day was unusually hot, and they made sure I was hydrated and fed. They felt like old friends, which is incredibly important on such an emotional and significant day. My husband said Grit City was the "best money we spent on the wedding" — and I couldn't agree more. Thank you, Grit City!

o punctual, detail-oriented, and gave great advice, but left us feeling as though she still valued our vision and ideas (and boy do I have a lot of ideas!) Ashley was extremely supportive and put my family and I at ease and made it so we could all truly enjoy the wedding rather than sweating the small stuff. I like to fancy myself quite the "planner," but it was such a perfect and brilliant opportunity to step back and let the professional work her magic -- and magic it was! If you are anything like me and are considering whether or not it's worthwhile and worth the money to hire a planner or day-of coordinator -- the answer is YES. It absolutely is. Even a month after the wedding, our friends and family have still been raving about how amazing Ashley and her team was and I couldn't agree more and felt like our wedding wouldn't have been the same without them.

inally thinking we didn’t need a wedding coordinator, it was only a miracle that landed us together as she had a cancellation the day before I called her. With less than 2 months notice, she handled everything beautifully and was an absolute delight to work with. Coordinating vendors, organizing set up and getting everybody where they needed to go. She was meticulous with the details, took enormous pressure off of us in the days leading up to the event, and went absolutely above and beyond on the day of. I have been recommending her to everyone and would use her again in a heartbeat for any event planning needs I have. Everyone on her team was amazing and truly did so much more than I ever expected. Worth the money over and over again. Thank you for making our day just as we hoped and being such a kind, fun, and effective planner to work with!

ad a virtual meeting that had to be cut short as she had double booked herself that evening. she said she would reschedule us. No biggie. we understood we weren't her only clients. however that meeting didn't get rescheduled until 2 weeks before our big day. we had emailed her at least 3 times in those 3 months asking when it would be rescheduled, as well as asking other questions relating to the day. all we got was radio silence during that time Ashley didn't live up to those unlimited emails or texts that was included in the contract. like I said, overall we had a good experience, but just be aware that the communication was lacking. at least with us it was.

Ashley is a wealth of knowledge. She has a lot of experience in this field and we are happy and blessed to have taken her advice and guidance during the planning process. We had several
meetings beforehand and she coordinated the day. She kept us on track to ensure we had everything we wanted and needed beforehand. The planning and coordinating made the day go by fast and easy. She knew what we visioned and made it happen including set up and clean up. On the day of our wedding, we could not have asked for anyone else. She helped us stay on timeline, helped us be where we needed to be and guided us thru the event. She set up the venue and it was beautiful done. She relieved a lot of stress I had about wedding planning and am happy we went with Grit City. We loved the end result and highly recommend her for any event

Our actual wedding day went remarkably smoothly despite some iffy weather conditions and many in attendance said it was the most well executed wedding they've ever been to. We trusted Ashley and Tosha with setting up all the decor and the bud vases and they did a phenomenal job.
Ashley humored our personalized whims, loved getting to know us as a couple and we even had some inside jokes by the end of it :)
Our only regret is not hiring Ashley and Grit City Weddings sooner!

nd welcoming person and made us feel super special even though we had never meant (we are from out of state!). And when we all finally met it was like we had known her for a long time! She gave us recommendations for pretty much all aspects of the wedding so we did not feel bombarded with so many choices, especially because this planning was occurring from a few states away. She assured our worries with every meeting leading up to the big day. We also did a rehearsal and she hosted it with such ease! Finally.... our wedding was BEAUTIFUL! Ashley and her team took our vision and made it even better!! We were taken care of throughout our wedding and did not feel an ounce of stress. It almost seemed too good to be true! But even our families were impressed with how seamless every part was and how kind, accommodating, and down-to-earth Grit City was. Our wedding was truly such an amazing day because of them and the vendors they recommended.
Her service is very well worth it--stop looking for a planner and go with Ashley & Michelle's Grit City Weddings & Events!
ps. they also have their own venue to host smaller weddings & events!

ggestions of questions to ask vendors and ideas to incorporate. Day of - Mac really made the day so seamless. She managed all the vendors, directed set up, and coordinated with the groom/family members while I spent the morning getting ready and relaxing. I was not stressed about anything, Mac handled it all the entire day and evening. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much for everything!
Ashley and Tasha are so amazing! The day of my wedding ran so smooth thanks to them! They knew when to push to make sure that our day was how we envisioned it and set up the decor ...

stepped in and made it all work flawlessly. And when it wasn't flawless (like guests showing up who didn't RSVP), Ashley handled it so quickly that I didn't even have time to worry about it. Grit City will be on your side to make it your perfect day, will consider and take care of things you never thought about, and make your day so much less stressful. I highly recommend them for your wedding!

e with my train on my dress (it was a long one!) several times, she was happy to do so. And towards the end of the night she was helping with my nine month baby girl, it was so nice to not only have her help with the wedding details throughout the day (even touched up my makeup for me), but also towards the end of the night to help with my daughter; which is not her job, but was so happy to help anyways! Ashley was very sweet and was able to get our group where they needed to be and when they needed to be. Being a perfectionist myself, I truly appreciated it. The day went without a hiccup and I appreciate all they did to help my day be so special and take some stress off of me! <3
