Weddings don’t have to be lilies and roses. There is nothing wrong with lilies and roses, we quite like them, but you don’t have to have those. You can have paper flowers or no flowers at all. Your options don’t have to be chicken or beef. Eat lamb ragu or vegan chili. Let’s plan a wedding that looks like the two of you.
You know what makes a wedding awesome? Spending time with the people you love. A wedding doesn’t have to cost $50,000 if you don’t want it to. Spend money on the things that really matter to you. Let’s uproot the idea of what a wedding should look like. Let’s celebrate this commitment you have made to each other. Let’s throw a huge party where everyone has a great time!

SERVICES OFFERED
Grit City Weddings + Events offers several packages for weddings of all shapes and sizes. From elopement or elopement-like to massive 500-guest blow-outs, we have the connections, skill, and passion for weddings to make these awesome celebrations happen. We strive to work with Tacoma and Seattle-based small businesses, especially womxn-owned and Black-owned companies because, often, those are the most badass companies.
We want to work with couples who are on the same page as us, too. That means we agree on some basic tenets: Black lives matter, feminism is for everyone, no human is illegal, science is real, love is love, and religious freedom makes each of our lives rich with compassion. We also look for clients who care more about the marriage than they do about the wedding. Of course, the wedding is an important and pivotal day, but it's just one day in a, hopefully, long string of days. Basically, just be a good human being who wants to celebrate your love surrounded by your friends and family.
Wedding Coordination
You and your friends and family actually get to host and enjoy your event instead of work it. You set up and reach out to all the vendors. We meet a handful of times prior to the big day. You hand over all the responsibilities to us and we provide the point-person to coordinate all things during the event. You can hire us for just the wedding day or for the whole weekend - like for the rehearsal dinner or the next-day brunch. Packages start at $1750.
Wedding Management
In addition to the most important job (day-of coordinator), we can help find the right vendors and provide guidance on the details to make sure it is an event that looks just like the two of you. We can work out a fixed number of hours or budget you want to spend on our services and we will be your thoughtful wedding consultant in addition to the day-of coordination. Packages start at $2750.

I felt SO supported throughout the whole wedding process because of Ashley’s expertise, and even though we did her minimal day of coordination package instead of the full wedding planning package, she knew every detail of our wedding and executed it to a tee on our wedding day. She has so much experience. She was able to guide me to ask questions I never would have thought of asking on my own. She had ideas I never would have thought of that made our wedding so fun! She went to our tasting with us and helped make sure our guests dietary restrictions were covered (and asked even more questions we wouldn't have known to ask). She picked up our rentals early and brought them to the venue and then set everything up for us. Her day-of team was so capable, professional and fun.

the Seattle Wedding Show and immediately knew that she would help make our wedding dreams come true. Her overall vibe and can do personality were a perfect match for us and our day. I am extremely type A, organized and detail-oriented, so I needed to make sure we hired someone I could trust.
Ashley helped us with a major and unexpected issue right before the wedding. Our originally contracted photographer completely ghosted us. We had been reaching out to her for about a month trying to contact her about wedding logistics and to pay our final bill, all with no answer. Finally, three days before the wedding we had still not heard back from her despite numerous attempts to reach her via text, phone, voicemail, instagram, and telegram. I was really freaking out and in a huge anxiety spiral. I realized that I should tell Ashley about it and I am forever grateful for her help and care. She began trying to reach the original photographer while simultaneously reached out to photographers she knew to see who was available last minute. She set us up with a back-up, negotiated a lower rate to help with our budget (the new photographer was much more expensive than the original), and gave the original photographer a notice with a deadline to reach us "or we would have to initiate our backup plan." We ended up using the new back-up photographer and LOVED him so much! Thanks to Ashley, we have gorgeous photos to remember our special day. She really saved us and relieved my intense anxiety so I could have a great rest of the wedding weekend.
I was so amazed to see everything we planned come together on the day of the wedding. Ashley executed what we had planned beautifully. I was really impressed with all the tablescapes that I had lovingly and meticulously designed and crafted come to life with her assemblage. She made the whole day stress free for my husband and me, our bridal party, family, and guests. We had around 68 people at our wedding ceremony and reception (both at Heritage Hall and Centennial Gardens in Kirkland). I could not imagine doing this without her! She worked her butt off with her assistants and coordinated the rest of the staff and vendors that we had hired for the party. The thing we noticed most about Ashley’s level of service was the fact that we DIDN’T notice any of the many things she was doing behind the scenes. We saw her when we needed to, and she was everywhere else at once. She maintained a great calm and collected energy throughout the day, and our families said she was lovely to work with as well.
There were moments during the wedding (we found out later) that skewed slightly off plan, but Ashley is such an expert that she remedied them all as they came with quick wit and insight.

The day of the wedding everything ran so smoothly that my guests made comments on how easy and organized the event was. Ashley and her assistants Tirza and Logan were always around day of wedding to ensure bride, groom and wedding party were well taken care of.
We had an outdoor ceremony with reception in a tent. That evening there was an insane rain and windstorm. I was very very nervous but Ashley and her crew not only kept others calm but also sprung into action to save all my wedding gifts and signage from the rain. They went above and beyond to basically save the day! Ashley was fun to work work with and has so much knowledge it really takes the stress and pressure off. But even our families were impressed with how seamless every part was and how kind, accommodating, and down-to-earth Grit City was. She managed all the vendors, directed set up, and coordinated with the groom/family members while I spent the morning getting ready and relaxing. And towards the end of the night she was helping with my nine month baby girl, it was so nice to not only have her help with the wedding details throughout the day (even touched up my makeup for me), but also towards the end of the night to help with my daughter; which is not her job, but was so happy to help anyways! Ashley was very sweet and was able to get our group where they needed to be and when they needed to be. Being a perfectionist myself, I truly appreciated it. Her ability to read the crowd and us as bride and groom to see if the schedule needed any adjusting was hands down the best I’ve ever seen.
