with Clare before the wedding really helped us envision how the night would be structured and turn out. She was able to take what was a pretty eclectic set of playlists we suggested and make them into a coherent experience, especially including some low-quality unmastered recordings throughout the night in a non-jarring way. Transitions between songs were seamless, and very skillfully executed. Clare did an excellent job of using discretion when taking requests, based on our previous conversations. Got plenty of compliments on her DJing throughout the night and afterward. Would absolutely recommend Clare to other couples!

ad a replacement DJ. That DJ then contracted COVID the day before the wedding, and a third DJ was put in his place. We were already hesitant about our replacement. The last second change provided to be detrimental to our experience. The DJ made a number of errors. Our DJ (Cordett) did not bring the right equipment, so half of our audience could not hear the ceremony. He played the incorrect song for our cake cutting. He made an incorrect announcement of parent speeches, which forced my parents to make an awkward impromptu speech that also offended my wife's parents. The worst came when Cordett began playing music that was nowhere close to our requests. Instead of accepting his error, he made excuses about not being able to download a Spotify playlist. He was then rude to me and my wife (THE BRIDE) when we asked him to shift to different music. We reached out to Evan from Groove, who had been our main point of contact throughout booking, about these issues. Instead of admitting fault, Evan proceeded to make excuses as to why these errors occurred. No one admitted fault throughout this process, and few concessions were offered. I not recommend Groove is in the Heart to anyone.

40's, our high school favorites, and oldies. We also wanted to make sure the dance floor was packed the whole time. DJ Evan was receptive to and excited by these propositions during our consultation and he delivered on both counts the day of! The dance floor was packed and we had a great time dancing with our family and friends. We also received many compliments from our guests on what a great job Evan did! In addition to DJing and MCing our wedding reception, Evan also provided a wireless standing mic and sound for our officiant during the ceremony in addition to playing background music for our cocktail hour and dinner, which he selected around our musical tastes. All of this was incredibly well-done and helped make the entire experience for our wedding day seamless. If you are looking for a DJ who will take your musical requests seriously and provide an incredibly professional experience, I would wholly recommend Groove in the Heart!

nowledge and Evan really got people onto the dance floor and blended the songs together so well. He contributed so much to the atmosphere and we really had to lean on his knowledge and it turned out perfect. We really appreciated his guidance. He also kept track of the schedule we gave him really well, and his cues for the ceremonies were really well timed. Our videographer was also able to plug into his system and he was very knowledgeable about how to plug into our venue sound system as well so there wasn't any last minute tech scrambling.

At first planning out the music for a 6-hour event seemed daunting and we really had no clue where to start, but Cordett made it really easy to take what we had in our heads and bring it to life. We thought it was awesome Cordett was able to capture our styles and articulate how all the different pieces fit together. In the end, the music was perfect, the vibes were exactly what we wanted, and just about everyone in the room had a blast out on the dance floor.

We spoke with DJ Clare again about a month before our wedding to review our music, and again she was thorough in asking us about song choices for specific moments in the wedding. This helped us identify moments of the wedding that we had glossed over, and as a result we were able to punctuate our wedding with music that both highlighted special moments and which meant a lot to us as a couple. Evan seamlessly transitioned from mellow dinner tunes to party anthems - even though we weren’t “supposed” to dance we couldn’t help ourselves! He also managed to find a way to get our entrance music just right — we wanted something off a random 2014 mixtape that was only available on one website, but he made it work! Groove’s pricing is simple and straight forward, which I really appreciated. They show up with all the gear you need and do a thorough soundcheck to ensure there are no hiccups for the main event. They make it clear that they want to work WITH you and make your event perfect, instead of just playing from a one-size-fits-all iPod playlist. Take it from a picky music industry person — go with Groove for your event.

But, the pandemic up-ended everything, and we decided to instead have a mostly virtual affair. Since we wouldn't be having a party, there was no need for a traditional DJ. Clare stepped up and transitioned into the role of DJ/administrator of our Zoom wedding. She did a truly amazing job. We wanted to make it a very participatory and varied experience, and as a result had multiple cameras going, slideshows, and music streaming over video feeds at various points. Clare handled it all seamlessly and with a great attitude. We were thrilled with the end result! Our understanding is that we were Groove's first virtual wedding. Well, they are already pros. Seeing as it was less than two months before our wedding (we saved DJ for last for some reason), and this was the first good feeling we had had about any DJ company, we quickly scheduled a meeting, had a drink together, and gratefully booked him. He helpfully laid out the process, sent us a massive playlist, walked through what we should do on our end, and in general was both fun and easy to talk to throughout the whole process. He somehow managed to be both professional and organized human AND made us believe in the power of DANCE. We encouraged him to wear a ~party outfit~ but he rightfully dressed conservatively for our ceremony and broke out the party duds for the dancing portion of the evening. He followed our ceremony notes perfectly, remembered all the last minute details we shouted at him, and helped us throw a seriously good dance party. I did not stop dancing for one minute once it was party time and Windy Timmy kept it GOING. The dancing was seriously top 5 most fun experiences of my life- felt like I had a curated dance party just for me that was professionally mixed by none other that Windy Timmy, a delightful, fun, for-real DJing human who represented Groove is in the Heart perfectly. --written by my spouse, who can write a review but whose ADHD prevents them from actually following through with posting it!

e everything I could have wanted. I met with Carrie and knew right away that she was the perfect match and the price was great! I created a Google Sheet laying out the songs we wanted for specific parts of the wedding and she was very open to giving us control of the cocktail hour music, but we relied on her to keep the dancefloor packed. Leading up to the wedding, she was very responsive to emails and assisted me in picking out ceremony songs. For the announcements, she wrangled the bridal party and got us in order before doing the announcements. She also made sure we knew what was coming up and where we should be. I never saw her sit down. I highly recommend Groove is in the Heart DJs and I am confident that the other DJs are just as wonderful as Carrie was. She couldn't have been more perfect!

She also did our ceremony, dinner and cocktail hour music. She steered us towards the best choices and helped find the most appropriate versions of our favorite songs. She's got tons of experience and knows what's going to work. But she will try new things, too! Finally, I'd say that Carrie is fun to work with and a reliable vendor. Book her and have a blast.
