DJ Marjorie was a joy to work with, as was the entire GITH team. They did an amazing job of tailoring the dance floor to our preferences will following what the crowd wanted, and folks were dancing the ENTIRE night. Absolutely recommend this team to anyone looking for a groovy, dancey vibe for their big day.

Loved the vibe of these guys from the get go. Female owned. Hired Clare as our DJ who was fabulous. Everyone dug the music and people were dancing all night. Spot on for the price and amazing service. Would highly recommend!!

Multiple guests commented that our wedding had the best music of any wedding they'd been to. DJ Clare was incredibly professional and easy to work with. She stuck to the themes and recommendations we gave her, and in the few instances when she played songs we hadn't approved, they were perfect picks and enhanced the mood. Music is incredibly important to my husband and me, and we wouldn't have changed a thing. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

Groove Is In The Heart was our wedding DJ at the Firehouse Chicago. We were paired with DJ Clare who made the planning process easy and enjoyable. Music is an important part of my husband and I's relationship so we had a very clear vision for what we wanted for our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, first dance, and reception music. Clare not only executed our vision but even took some creative liberties that both surprised and delighted us. Clare made sure the dancefloor was always packed throughout the night and really helped make this the grand, joyful celebration we wanted for our wedding. Our guests raved about the music and are still talking about how much they had 2+ weeks later. If anything, it was hard to leave the dancefloor because Clare kept playing hit after hit haha. Cannot recommend Groove and DJ Clare enough for your wedding or special event!

We had the privilege to work with Chris from Groove is in the Heart and he was awesome! We had a small brunch wedding and, despite that AND only ending up with an hour of open dancing time, he got everyone out on the dance floor! He crushed both the ceremony music and the reception, couldn't recommend Groove and Chris enough!!

Can't say enough good things about this group and our DJ, Clare. We had several meetings with the group and Clare and they we're extremely professional and pleasant to work with. Most importantly, they did such a good job the night of our wedding. We had our specific song requests and gave Clare autonomy to build a setlist around those songs and she nailed it. Highly recommend.

DJ Chris was the best! So easy to communicate with. He kept our ceremony moving without any issues. The party was also fantastic. The dance floor was always packed and the song selection was perfect. No sleepers. He also added some of our homemade tunes on the fly. Would definitely recommend to anyone getting married in Chicago!

DJ CHRIS WAS AWESOME!! Choosing Groove is in the Heart to DJ our wedding was a great choice and we couldn’t have asked for a better night! We had an incredible experience working with Groove is in the Heart (and DJ Clare especially) for our wedding! The communication leading up to the event was wonderful, with DJ Clare taking the time to figure out our personal style & music tastes and getting to know our vision for the big day. The ceremony audio was perfect and the dancefloor was jam packed all night! She blended the "must plays" perfectly with songs that fit the vibe of the crowd. We couldn't recommend Groove is in the Heart and DJ Clare enough!

“Oh! This girl is a real DJ!” Echoed again and again on the dance floor by our most discerning (picky?) music aficionado guests, DJ Clare was a GODSEND to our special night’s dance floor. A gem of a person to work with from the start, she takes the job seriously – crafting the night to fit our sensibilities (as a couple and knowing who our guests would be) perfectly, but also leaving room to feel the vibe in the room and adjust up or down accordingly. (Side bar: when my partner’s mother demanded we release YMCA from the no-play list and do it, Clare knew exactly how to get the immediately evacuated dancefloor bumping again). She has fun, adds excitement with her announcements and personality and is willing to think outside the box to make your event feel like a true party. We were blown away by the final playlist. All DJs are not created equal! Groove is in the Heart (and DJ Clare specifically) are A+++.

Chris was a phenomenal DJ! He incorporated all our required songs and stuck to our requested playlist while keeping the dance floor full all night. We let him pick the dinner songs entirely and had many compliments on the DJ throughout the night. Perfect at reading the room and building a great flow to the music. Highly recommend!

We had a great experience with our DJ, who kept the dancefloor packed all night! She was very easy to work with and made sure to include all of our must-play songs, which our guests loved. The energy was fantastic, and she knew how to keep the party going. Although we didn’t ask her to MC, her professionalism and attention to detail made the evening flow smoothly from a music perspective. The only reason we’re giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the transitions between songs could have been smoother. There were moments where the music didn’t flow as seamlessly as it might at a nightclub, which interrupted the vibe briefly. However, this was a minor issue, and overall she did an excellent job. We would still highly recommend her for any event where a great playlist and good vibes are the priority!

We are so glad that we had Clare as our wedding DJ. Our ceremony music was exactly what we wanted. She did a great job curating playlists based on what we wanted for the cocktail hour and dinner. During our first dance and the father daughter dance, we were able to give her a look to signal we were done before the song ended and it didn’t feel awkward at all. Once open dancing started, there were lots of people on the dance floor until the very end of the night. She took our specific requests and really was able to read the vibe of the room well to know what to play. Hire Clare, you won’t regret it!

Being female owned, LGBTQ friendly, and against cheesy gimmicky wedding songs is what attracted us to Grove is in the Heart, but it was DJ Evan and Anna’s character and personality that made us love them. They are genuine, caring, and truly good people who don’t view your wedding as just a job. They were both extremely responsive from start to finish, and the entire process was flawless. Evan was open to all of our requests for cocktail hour, dinner, and the dance party. I truly believe our guests had a great time and we are forever grateful.

Marjorie was an absolute pleasure to work with and had some killer instincts when it came to setting the playlist. They were fantastic at keeping everything and everyone moving throughout the night and did a great job at mixing our personal requests with more crowd-pleasers! Would work with them again in a heartbeat!

DJ Marjorie was amazing to work with for our wedding! They were extremely kind, communicative, and professional throughout the whole process. We left some of our key song choices to the very last minute and DJ Marjorie was so accommodating and did a great job all night. My husband and I had our wedding at Room 1520 in Chicago, IL. DJ Clare was our DJ for our evening wedding and reception. Don't let Clare's quiet demeanor fool you, she is a power house at keeping the party going! Our guests kept commenting all night "this DJ is SO GOOD!" Our guests danced the night away! We would love to work with her again for any future events! The whole company was easy to work with from start to finish. We highly recommend them!

Groove is the Heart is the best! The reviews here are 100% accurate. We were lucky to be paired with DJ Marjorie, and they are fantastic! Marjorie was so wonderful to work with. They are professional, organized, understanding, and fun. Marjorie helped us organize our many thoughts and then created a vibe for our wedding that kept attendees ranging from 18 to 90 on the dance floor. We had multiple guests compliment the DJ and music choices during the party. They know just what to play, and when to play it to ensure you and your guests will have a great time. We can't recommend them enough. 6 stars!

DJ Evan kept everyone on the dance floor at our wedding. He put on a great Hora Loca for us (even though it was an uncommon request) and provided us with a great mix of music for a bi-cultural wedding. Highly recommend Groove is in the Heart!

Clare was the DJ at our wedding earlier this month. Our venue manager recommended Groove, and we were lucky enough to be matched with Clare. We knew immediately during the initial Zoom meeting that we wanted to go with her. Clare was easy to talk to and totally understood the vibe we were going for with our reception. She gave us a great questionnaire about our preferences (must play? must not play? last song of the night?) that made us feel confident that she was interested in tailoring the night to our tastes. Throughout the process, Clare was super responsive and helpful, going so far as to offer great suggestions for parent dance songs when we were having trouble deciding on them. On the night of our wedding, Clare absolutely killed it. Great selections all night long, mixing in indie stuff we love with classic bangers, and front loading the night with old hits that got the old people out on the dance floor, including people I’ve never seen dancing. As the night progressed, she switched it up more, and sometimes it felt like she could read our minds about what we wanted to hear. People would ask me “did you request this?”, but everything was left up to her, and we couldn’t be more happy with the vibe she created for us. Clare also handled all the musical cues for our ceremony, and did that perfectly as well. In the end, we left the last song of the night up to her, and she played one of our favorite songs, which she must have remembered we had mentioned in passing during one of our meetings. It was a perfect and memorable way to end our wedding reception. I could not recommend her highly enough.

We (and our guests!) had a great experience with Groove is in the Heart. Evan was friendly and passionate right from the start and his dance floor mix was everything we wanted it to be. We wanted something a bit different than a lot of the typical wedding songs and styles and he was totally on board with and supportive of our vision (a lot of 80s new wave, disco, 2010s indie pop, and Bollywood). He was incredibly good at reading the room and keeping the floor full, his transitions were smooth and intentional, and he had clearly put care into building the set. We were thrilled with his choices and our guests were very vocal and complimentary about his work and the selections. He was also very careful about getting name pronunciations and peoples' pronouns correct during announcements and always got it right. We would absolutely recommend Evan and Groove is in the Heart.

We loved working with Groove is in the Heart! The company was super communicative and responsive in working out the logistics for our wedding day. We worked with Marjorie as our DJ - Marjorie was an easy-going and kind presence throughout our wedding planning. They were thoughtful in providing clear instructions on how to choose our wedding music and structure our day, which made the music planning part of the wedding feel like a breeze. They understood the vibe we were going for with wedding music and delivered beautifully! We had a small wedding, which can be hard to keep a dance floor going, but people wanted to dance throughout the entire night. Most importantly, we felt Marjorie’s care and thoughtfulness throughout the entire wedding day. We appreciate all the time and energy Marjorie, and Groove is in the Heart, put into making our wedding perfect.

We loved working with Groove is in the Heart DJ's! They were very easy to work with and schedule. Anna the office manager was helpful in finding us a DJ who fit our vibe and personalities and also ensure we were able to get the paperwork squared away easily. We worked with Clare for our wedding and she was awesome! She totally got our music style. She played a good mix of "must plays" but also read the room really well to play songs that really got the party going and dancing all night long. She was also a pleasure to work by providing artist suggestions that we initially had forgotten to include. Day-of, she arrived early and set up in two locations one for the ceremony and one for the cocktail hour. She even brought and held a portable speaker up for our "cake launch" instead of our cake cutting. She also did a great job at fielding folks trying to make requests and managing the crowd throughout the night. 12/10 would recommend.

The best and more! Great organization and planning before the big day, at the rehearsal made sure everyone speaking understood the mics. Before speeches checked in with everyone and made my nervous dad feel so comfortable. Music choices were perfect. Took all our notes and filled in the gaps with extensive knowledge. On time and had all the equipment. Would hire again in a heartbeat! DJ was extremely important to us and the vendor we took the most care with. So glad we found Jessi and she made our fun, romantic queer wedding an AMAZING time for all!!

We absolutely loved working with DJ Clare from Groove is in the Heart! She was very communicative, collaborative, and accommodating. She nailed the vibe for all 4 stages of our wedding: Pre-Ceremony (Singer-Songwriter), Cocktail Hour (Alternative/Pop), Dinner (R&B/Soul/Jazz/Rock), and Dancing (Pop/2010s/Alternative/Party). The dance floor was continually packed and she read the room so well. We loved the overall mix of genres and songs and our guests seemed to as well despite a wide range of generations. As an emcee, Clare kept things moving on schedule and was a great presence in the reception space. Zero technical issues and zero DJ/emcee complaints. Unsolicited 5-star rating and would recommend her to any of our friends getting married in the future.

DJ Jessi and the team were amazing to work with! Super responsive, organized and flexible. Jessi in particular made the process very seamless and easy for us who had never worked with a professional DJ before. She gave us everything we needed to craft the perfect wedding day! Then, on the day of our wedding, Jessi was always checking in with us to make sure we were having a good time and everything was going well. She felt like an extension of our day-of team which helped us stay in the moment and enjoy our time instead of worrying about logistics.

DJ Clare, We do not have enough characters in this review to gush over how much we love DJ Clare and Groove in the Heart! From start to finish, Clare handled the crowd and slayed the dance floor music. Mics were set up on time and in place for speeches, requests from the guests were played in the best, most timely manner, and everyone from old to young was DANCING!! At the beginning of our wedding planning journey, we were convinced that we wanted a live band to play all of our favorite songs and stir up the crowd. Once listening to our playlist, we were assured that Clare's music would carry the night, and that it did. We are so lucky to have had the support and love show up on the dance floor. Marjorie from Groove Is in the Heart did a phenomenal job at our wedding. From the first few minutes of our first call, they quickly put us at ease and understood what we wanted for our music. Rather than pick every single song ourselves, we just described the vibe we were going for and Marjorie took care of the rest. The two of us are not big on dancing, but the music was so fun that we ended up dancing a lot more than we expected to, and everyone from little kids to our parents had a blast on the dance floor. Marjorie also handled our ceremony music and our toast introductions perfectly, and everything was seamless. Marjorie was fun and professional and a perfect DJ for our wedding.

We recently had the pleasure of having Evan as the DJ for our wedding Sept-2023, and it's an understatement to say he was phenomenal. We placed a great emphasis on wanting a big dance party, and also had a lengthy list of last-minute special requests, which he managed to incorporate effortlessly. We used Groove is in the Heart DJ's for our wedding on 9/30/2023 and we had an absolute BLAST! They were prompt with all communication. Professional and very easy to work with. Evan was our DJ and we could tell right from the start he was exactly what we were looking for. He listened to our interests and what we were hoping our reception would be like. There were people on the dance floor the entire night - without playing the YMCA or the electric slide! He nailed every single name pronunciation and helped keep the party going and keep us on time. He really paid attention to how people were responding to the music. He even did a great job of filtering requests from guests which we appreciated. He literally played something for everyone from country, pop, rock, R&B. He understood the assignment for this music loving bride and he absolutely delivered!

We worked with Anna and DJ Clare and had an absolutely incredible experience. Anna was always helpful and quick to follow up with any billing/admin questions and DJ Clare was the perfect blend of confident and accommodating. She was the most down-to-earth DJ we spoke to. We had several people compliment the music at our events and ask for the playlist... I told them they'd have to hire DJ Clare!

Groove was one of the few companies where our intro call was with our actual DJ - Jessi. We thought she was super awesome and she quickly caught on to the vibe we were looking for. I also thought she had cool girl boss energy and felt confident that she would let me make weird choices, but also give us advice on what she's seen work well. Jessi also helped guide us through what songs and events she needed from us which helped us tremendously in the planning process. Notably - our venue contact/coordinator was out on a personal emergency the day before our event (October 2023) and the venue/catering replacement staff did okay, but it was DJ Jessi who absolutely stepped up and ran the entire timeline, interfaced with the venue, bullied them into adjusted times as we were running late on dinner, I was really impressed! Save yourself Day-of-Coordinator money (if you have an easy all-in-one caterer package) and just hire an amazing DJ like Jessi!!!

We love Jessi. From the start she was so patient with us despite our lack of preparation for our initial meeting and overall indecisiveness. She handled all of our sound/microphone needs for both the ceremony and the reception, both of which went off without a hitch. For our cocktail hour she was able to create the exact mood/vibe we wanted to achieve from the very vague prompt we provided. We're not big dancers but Jessi was able to read the room and create an atmosphere that allowed our guests (who are big dancers) to have a great time. She would check in with us periodically throughout the night to make sure things were going how we wanted. We honestly have nothing but good things to say about Jessi and Groove is in the Heart in general and couldn't recommend them more to any prospective clients.

Evan was absolutely AMAZING! He was so sweet from the start, and helped make our music planning so easy! Evan was on top of everything and took in all of our suggestions. It's nice to trust your vendors and know that you don't have to worry about them. We got along so well, and it felt like having a friend DJing our wedding for us. I can't recommend them enough!

Clare from Groove is in the Heart was the PERFECT choice for our wedding. We had a few select songs in mind, but nothing built out, and she was able to perfectly intuit what we were looking for based on limited suggestions. For our first dance song (and several others throughout the night) we wanted a blend of 2 versions to be played, and she made the transitions look effortless! Clare knew how to get everyone dancing early on and faded into a wonderful pop-punk afterparty for all of our friends that stayed late. Cannot recommend a DJ more highly.

Jessi was without a doubt my best wedding vendor. She was punctual, professional and made sure our vision came to life. We had multiple meetings to discuss our vision and what we wanted from our DJ she always sent a recap email and made the extra effort to reach out to our venue coordinator. She planned a pre-ceremony sound check, coordinated with our officiant, and most importantly made sure the dance floor was always full. Her communication pre and during wedding took a huge weight off my shoulders with her attention to detail and organization I would hire Groove again in a heart beat!

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience with DJ Karissa for our big day. During our introductory Zoom meeting we could tell she was a great fit for what we were going for; she felt like a kindred spirit who really got us and our tastes. She asked us a lot of great questions, and we could quickly tell what an experienced pro she was—we felt like we were in very good hands. She helped us figure out timing and had suggestions when we needed advice. Our wedding presented a somewhat challenging situation, with a windy outdoor ceremony away from any outlets and an indoor reception, but Karissa handled everything without a hitch. During the reception I kept having my mind blown with each new song selection, because it was like Karissa was reading my mind! Music is a huge part of our life and we both had a lot of opinions and specific ideas going into the wedding, and DJ Karissa did a masterful job of curating a playlist that felt very much like us and also had everyone there enjoying themselves greatly. Several guests commented about being delighted by song choices throughout the night. We loved the soundtrack of our wedding day so much – Truly the best vibes from start to finish. We can’t recommend her highly enough!

We booked Groove is in the Heart through a referral from our friend's wedding. DJ Claire is THE BEST. She was so great to work with providing us an outline of all of the moments throughout the night that we needed to select, many of which we hadn't thought of. She made sure to take all of our preferences into account playing all the songs we wanted on the dance floor and adding in other crowd pleasers along the same lines. We only gave vague vibes for dinner and cocktail service and she made the perfect playlists for our night off of that. We had so many guests come up to us and say they LOVED the dj and that they couldn't leave the dance floor with all the hits she was playing . Thanks DJ Clare for making our wedding so special and keeping the dance floor going!

Another Team DJ Evan! Evan was great to work with from start to finish at our wedding at Revolution Brewery. A Skype meet-and-greet was arranged early in the process and we had an additional meeting the week before the wedding to make sure we were on the same page with the ceremony and reception intros/songs. We also had A LOT of music requests and Evan was able to accommodate with seamless transitions between songs. Needless to say, our dance floor was packed and our guests were raving. When the music can make or break a wedding, we had no complaints.

DJ Clare was awesome to work with and made our day super smooth and full of dancing! She was super organized and really helped the day move along perfectly. Great music choices throughout the night! Couldn't recomend Clare more!
