Groove Kitchen Band is an energetic wedding band based in Seattle, WA. These talented musicians and vocalists have many years of experience taking wedding celebrations to the next level with impressive live performances of songs that crowds know and love. Groove Kitchen Band had its genesis in 2005 as a world music and Latin jazz band. The collaboration has evolved hugely over the years, and in 2011, the "Groove Kitchen" dance band was formed. This band has been entertaining crowds at weddings and other events ever since. Built around an amazing lead singer, the band focused on hits from classic R&B icons such as Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson. However, more current dance turns are always being added to the playlist. Groove Kitchen Band is dedicated to making every couple's special day an unforgettable experience for them and their loved ones. Our wedding was on 5.23.2015. Ed Mays Groove Kitchen was spectacular! We had 180 people and the all raved that was the best wedding they had ever been to because of the band! Great quality! Highly recommend

What an absolute treat to have Ed Mays Groove Kitchen at our corporate event. We hosted a Roaring 1920's theme and the band absolutely nailed it. They were incredible. Everything from their dress attire, showing up early to prep, to the musical...

sets. By the end of the evening we had people out dancing. I received so many compliments not just from my attendees but even the hotel staff who loved the ambiance that Ed Mays created. I would book this group again for anything around the Seattle-Bellingham area. 5 star experience for sure!

Meet the Team

Ed Mays

Owner

Playing drums since 1967, I started working in bands at 19 and toured all over the US and Canada. I taught some of the greatest drummers of the world renowned Roosevelt HS Jazz Band. In 2011, I, Yogi, and singer Stacey, formed Groove Kitchen. Jude and Marvin soon joined in. By some fluke, this ended up being the best dance band in our long careers and lasted 10 years until COVID- a long time for a band! I have now reformed the band featuring world class singer, Emily MacIntosh and we carry on the GK tradition playing parties and weddings, the original intent of the band. Weddings are a blast!
