usic genre requests for first half of night. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with our experience. We had DJ David working with us. I should say first that our ceremony went well; the correct tracks were played and were faded in and out appropriately. He also played the requested Spotify playlist for dinner. That's where the good ends though. I want to say too that I spent quite a long while filling out their Vibo app. Something I was happy to do to help with their workflow. To start, David refused to set up in the space we wanted him in. The Groom told him 3 times where we wanted him. He told the Groom that “the lights would look better over here” and ignored our requests. This choice bottle necked half the dance floor and made our space for our first dance quite restricted. But I guess the lights (which could've been placed anywhere) take priority. We requested a specific song to be played for our grand entrance. He did play it, but for some reason played the YouTube music video which included a lot of explosion and car crashing noises, which made for a weird entrance. I had uploaded a specific mix that I had made myself of our first dance song. It was about 2 and a half minutes long and our dance was entirely choreographed. He did play the song. He also cut it off well before the end of the song. And I have screenshots of me explicitly asking songs to be played all the way through. Then for the father daughter dance, I recorded myself singing a song that meant a lot to my dad and I. He also cut that song off. For the dance floor I requested 2000's and 2010's songs. This is not what was played for the first half of the night. Even once he started playing the requested genres, he made another executive choice that was NOT discussed with us at any point; We had one child present at the wedding, she was having a great time. (Keep in mind, I mentioned multiple times in the Vibo app that we were requesting and expecting a child-free wedding.) To get to the point, David played Baby Shark. The entire song. At a wedding. Which was supposed to be child free. Which I could get past if it was a verse or two or if the child was enjoying it. But she immediately hid when she realized the attention was on her. Yet the entire song was evidently necessary. I received multiple confused remarks about it at and after the wedding. I can't help but agree. On the Vibo app, we requested our last song of the night to be Dancing Queen by ABBA. The idea being leave it on a high note so people feel like “oh I wish it hadn't ended!” He did play the song. He then played an additional song afterward. What is the point of requesting a final song if you're going to play your own after? And that is really the crux of my negative review: Why have clients fill out an app full of detailed questions if you are going to then largely ignore it? Truthfully I could get past quite a few of these things, but I cannot forgive cutting off our FULLY CHOREOGRAPHED FIRST DANCE, while we were in the middle of a spin too. That is enough to bring forward and compound all the other issues into our very poor experience. Also, if you get the photo booth and want your digital images as advertised, you'll need to email and specifically ask for them. They will not send you a link on their own.

DJ Shawn did an incredible job creating a mix of music from different decades to get all guests on the dance floor and truly did everything we had hoped for — keeping the dance floor going until the very end of the night! We heard nothing but incredible feedback from all our family and friends and had the night of our lives. The preparation process was seamless with using an app to walk us through each part of the night and the ideal music (songs or genres) we wanted. Then, we met with Shawn to go over everything and walk through each part of the night. Shawn kept the night moving by introducing each next part of the reception and made everything a stress free, smooth process. I would highly recommend working with Groove on Hyde Street and DJ Shawn. Our night was everything we dreamed of…thank you for all you did to make it come to life!! It wouldn’t have been the same without you!

He kept the dance floor full and fun despite the wedding being majority during full daylight hours. Our friends were loving him, and he did a great job managing all announcements on time.

ere’s a bit of backstory: we had originally booked a different DJ, who backed out about two months before our wedding due to moving out of state. He promised us a replacement — and that’s when David entered the picture. Just a few days later, we found out that the original DJ had filed for bankruptcy and taken off with our money. At that point, David could have walked away too — and honestly, no one would have blamed him. But he didn’t. David is a man of integrity and his word. He honored the agreement, showed up on our wedding day, made sure the music was perfect for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception and absolutely crushed it. The vibe was perfect, the music was exactly what we wanted, and everyone — including the kids — had an amazing time. He brought great energy and made the night unforgettable. If you're looking for a DJ who is professional, reliable, and genuinely cares about your event, David is your guy. We can’t thank him enough and would highly, highly recommend him for any occasion! Despite being advertised as a confident MC for the event, he seemed unsure at times and frequently needed to check in with the bride during the reception for things that had already been discussed in advance. We also had to remind him day-of about key parts of the schedule and song choices we had communicated ahead of time. In terms of music, some songs from our “must play” list weren’t played, and a few were played at times that didn’t quite fit the moment — for example, a slow song we hoped to dance to was played during dinner. Additionally, we noticed a lack of familiarity with both EDM and Latin music, both genres that were important to us and discussed ahead of time. There were multiple occasions when songs were cut short before reaching their peak or the long intro was played out, which impacted the energy on the dance floor. The music often felt more like our personal playlist being played rather than a live DJ experience. Overall, while Darius handled the essentials and ensured the day went on without major issues, the experience didn’t fully meet our expectations and we were left disappointed.

A couple weeks before the wedding Darius called us to make sure everything in the app was filled out and checked to see if we had any questions. He made me feel like I didn't need to think about or worry about anything. Everything was perfect and I HIGHLY recommend them. Oh and get the photo booth! It was a huge hit and everyone loved it!

The microphones did not work during the ceremony so most of our vows were not heard by the guests but that’s not the worst thing to happen at a wedding. That being said the music on the dance floor was fantastic and he really seemed to get our vibe. The guests were dancing all night and raving about how great he was.

reception and coordinated well with my wedding coordinator so I wasn't bothered all day about small things. He also was very adaptive. We ended up not doing the cake cutting or bouquet toss etc and he was like yep sounds good! Overall I would highly recommend Shawn and his company.

They were just asking “ How can I help?” or “How can we adjust?” “Do you need us to stall for like 20 minutes?” We have never worked with the team from Groove on Hyde Street before and we so pleasantly surprised by the level of professionalism that they have. Our couple had DJ David H. He not only went above and beyond to find Ukrainian/ Polish/ current non English world music for the couple- he confidently mixed it into rotation. The sound was solid for speeches, amped up at the correct moments, guests of all ages enjoyed themselves and our team was very impressed. Kept our 32 guest micro wedding on the dance floor for hours. 10 out of 10 will refer DJ David H. and the incredible team at Groove on Hyde Street to any of our couples.

Darius immediately put our minds at ease, asked us to send over a few and that he’d use that list to create a great lineup. We also rented a photobooth and outdoor games from Darius. Thanks to Darius, photos I thought I had lost were recovered by him nearly 2 years later, I’m grateful and couldn’t recommend him enough!
