Guildford Farm offers a truly unique experience with a historic 8,000 square ft home, 4,000 sq ft reception center, 150 acres of private property (with miles of walking trails), beautiful views (mountain and water), privacy, flexibility, indoor/outdoor options, and overnight accommodations. Less than 30 minutes from downtown Charlottesville and only 10 miles from the airport, tucked away in the heart of Virginia’s wine country sits Guildford Farm, one of Central Virginia’s most relaxed and comfortable farm wedding venues. Built in the 1790’s, Guildford Farm was the original home of the Early family, the namesake of Earlysville, VA. The property served as a cattle farm for decades. In 2003, the 8,000 square foot home was completely restored. From the tranquility of the gently rolling hay-fields and shaded lakeside banks to the stateliness of the historic farmhouse and rustic barn, the property is as unique as it is expansive. We offer significantly more than just your typical "farm or barn wedding"! Given the property’s size, we encourage you to explore and imagine the possibilities. If you want your guests to have an unforgettable experience - encourage them to explore the newly maintained "Lover's Loop" walking trail immediately accessible next to the reception center. The 150 acres of private property provides for a very intimate setting for your special occasion.
Our custom designed event facility offers 4,000 square ft of temperature controlled indoor space including all of the amenities needed to provide an extra level of comfort for your guests (recommendation of 50-200 guests) and vendors. This is not your typical farm and barn venue: our modern reception center was designed for weddings/events...but also matches the timeless beauty and classiness of the entire Guildford Farm property. Between the Home and the Event Center Loft (which includes a flat screen tv, private bathroom, and walk out deck with incredible views), there are many options for both sides of the wedding party to get ready! Our restrooms in the Event Center have THREE toilets each...so no need to worry about your guests having long waits for a bathroom break. Each also has an ADA accessible stall.

We don't have enough incredible things to say about Guildford Farm. We paired our event with Katie's planning services which is a must-do; however, i'm separating the venue review from the specific owner's planning (she was stellar). The venue includes both the reception/wedding space, and also a home, and I am including both in this review.
1, VALUE- Incredible value for a full weekend and on-site lodging. The amount we and our bridal party saved in hotel cost more than makes up for the full-weekend fee, and what could possibly be better than hanging out with your favorite friends all weekend? If you're looking for winery-aesthetic with more freedom and lower cost than most C-ville winery venues, this is your spot. The best part is this reception/wedding space is a blank canvas and can be dressed up several ways, so you aren't cornered into a vibe (ex. don't have to go rustic, don't have to go glam, etc).
2, PHOTOS - gorgeous photo spots. They have a classic bridal suite, 2 balconies, mountain backdrops, field backdrops, a pond, and a home with so much vintage character packed into aesthetic rooms - three of which are themed by color which makes for adorable photos with 10/10 natural morning lighting. The venue includes a masculine den for groomsman photos. The arbor is built-in which also saves time and improves photos.
3, FUN - As of writing this review, the venue comes with over-sized games (ex. jenga, connect-4) which makes cocktail hour way more fun. It also comes with a bar which saves lots of for rentals. If you like fishing, there is a pond, and trails for hiking. There is also a sick basement space for groomsmen to stash away and hang out all day. If you want a "royalty" moment, there is an interior balcony from the bridal suite where you can go watch the party (or bridal party entrances) from far above.
4, PRIVATE - There is nothing around to cause any sort of noise disturbance or traffic or wedding crashers. There is shopping/target about 15 minutes away, so you can run out to get emergency items if needed. The stars at night are super bright due to minimal light pollution.
5, EASY - If you have anxiety about timelines being crunched, your reception ending too early, or forgetting your rings in your bedroom, Guildford is the best possible venue to battle those fears. The layout allows for easy movement between spaces which minimizes risk of timeline-derailment.
While we didn't run into weather issues, I would say the venue can moderately flex for rain - they have backup plans, and while obviously any rain plan is not ideal, your wedding attendees wouldn't be soaked and you could still have a pretty ceremony/reception. It's also high on a hill, which means ground would be less muddy.
The Guildford Farm was the perfect setting for our June wedding. The beautiful views and facilities paired with the peaceful surroundings made it the ultimate wedding venue for our celebration.
We loved working with Jonny and Katie. They made time for our visits and addressed our questions whenever they arose. They were kind, generous, and flexible partners in this process. It was even better when we got to see them on the wedding day - helping our guests and shuttling us around on the golf cart for photos.
The house onsite was the perfect accommodation for our rehearsal dinner, overnight guests, and wedding day preparations. Guildford Farm is the total package!
We could not have had a better wedding venue than Guildford Farm. Jonny, Katie, Rodney and the whole team were so accommodating and easy to work with. We ran into some personal circumstances that required we change our date and they could not have been more understanding and helpful. The weekend of the wedding was so relaxed thanks to everything taking place in the same location. We felt like we had a destination wedding even though we are Charlottesville locals. Our guests, bridal party, and families could not rave enough about the beautiful space. Book this venue!

Guildford Farm is an amazing wedding venue! It was the perfect spot for our wedding in October 2023. Plus, the foliage made amazing wedding pictures. From our first tour to our wedding day Guildford Farm was there to answer any questions we had. They made planning a wedding easy and seamless. I highly recommend looking at their preferred vendors list, they work with the best of the best. The house on the property made it extremely easy to get ready for the big day. All the bridesmaids and groomsmen had enough space to get ready. The golf cart on the wedding day was a life saver for transporting the wedding party. My heels and feet thank you! Overall, Guildford Farm was a dream wedding venue, and I can’t thank Jonny and his family more for making sure our day was perfect.
If you are looking for a venue with beautiful mountain views, a gorgeous reception space with indoor and outdoor possibilities, numerous options for your ceremony location, and a place that can host your wonderful family and friends for more than just a super fast single-day stay…we highly encourage you to look into Guildford Farms. I can almost guarantee your search will end right there on the property just as quickly as ours did when we laid eyes on the venue!!
This family run venue is extremely clean, incredibly well maintained. They have numerous options for ceremony locations, as well as a place for an indoor rain-plan. Communication with the venue coordinators is efficient, seamless, and met with many suggestions or options based on your request.
An added BEAUTIFUL bonus is the estate house on the venue property that is included with the contract. For our incredible wedding weekend, we were able to offer both sides of our bridal party (and their plus one) a bed to sleep in if they chose to stay on the property. How incredible is that?! While not all of them chose to stay on the property, their hotels or rentals were only a short few-minutes drive away.
The venue space, estate to sleep in, and multi-day use contract that came as an incredible package were EXACTLY what we wanted for our wedding weekend!
We were able to spend a few hours the night before the wedding gathering with friends and family who were in town early. This gave us extra time to soak in all the love and support that we’re gathering in this absolutely beautiful location. Hands down without a doubt, Guildford Farms, is THE wedding venue that people should take notice of! The location is beautiful. The owners are brilliant hosts. And your wedding day feels absolutely magical and private while allowing for ample time to celebrate as you take a remarkably monumental step in life with your forever love!
I recently had my wedding at Guildford and could not have been happier! We were able to stay on property the entire weekend which allowed us to host the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception all in one place. Our entire wedding party was also able to stay on property (14 of us total) which was a huge help day of. Katie, Jonny, and Rodney were all amazing throughout the process as well and made us feel completely comfortable and well taken care of. All in all we had the best day of our lives thanks to Guildford and would recommended getting married here to anyone we know!

The most perfect venue we could have asked for! Jonny and the rest of the family are extremely accommodating and easy to get ahold of, making the entire weekend a breeze to plan for. It was huge for us to have a venue that gave us flexibility with what vendors we use and Jonny was very flexible and informative with choosing our vendors. We had 160 guests and both sides of the family stayed in the house the entire weekend. Since both sides of our family live all over the country, it meant the world to use to be able to have personal family time before and after the wedding. We were also able to do majority of setup before the wedding day so that we didn't have to worry about a thing that morning (this was a major bonus!). The reception venue was perfect for the amount of people we had and we didn't have a single issue. The house was cozy and comfortable and it really made a difference to have all events in one spot. We didn't have a full wedding planner (only day of coordinator) and Jonny was very helpful in making the planning process feel not so stressful. Everybody loved their stay and we wish we could have a family reunion there every year because we loved it so much. Would highly highly recommend!!
Guildford Farm was the most beautiful place for a September wedding! Jonny and Katie were so easy to work with, easily accessible, and super helpful every step along the way. Having the house to stay at the night before was so convenient and fun to have everyone all in one place. All in all it was a great experience and I can highly recommend having a wedding here!
Guildford Farm was so beautiful and even with a slight mishap, they still came in contact with my husband and I understanding completely. They were quick to respond and very communicative when touring the venue.

We had the perfect experience with Guildford Farm as our wedding venue. The Kiblers are responsive and welcoming and really made us feel at home for the whole weekend. The unique aspect of this venue is you can stay in the historic home for the whole weekend, included in your wedding package at a comparable price with other venues in the area that will have strict in-out times. I cannot emphasize enough how calming it is to be staying on site at the venue all weekend; there is no shooing you out or strict cutoffs before you can start setting up. We were also able to extend our stay for a few days before the wedding at an extremely reasonable price which made logistics with family coming from outside the country much smoother. Beyond the logistics, the house and venue are absolutely beautiful with Southern charm and the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I would gladly relive our wedding weekend again and would choose Guildford Farm every time!!
We truly could not have asked for a better experience with Guilford Farm and the Kibler family. From the very beginning with the venue tour to our wedding day, they were incredibly welcoming and helpful. For us, the selling point for this venue was the idea that the actual wedding venue comes with an option to stay in the historical house also on the property. We extended our stay and ended up having the property from Wednesday to Sunday; most of our guests came from out of town and it was so wonderful to be able to offer them a gorgeous place to stay and hang out in the days leading up to and following the wedding. The Kibler family (owners) was absolutely wonderful in every aspect -- when we were thrown a curve ball on the morning of wedding day, several members of the family dropped what they were doing to be with us at the venue and offer love and support. We can't recommend Guildford Farm enough and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts!
Guildford Farm is the perfect wedding venue! We had the absolute best day/weekend here!! The entire property is beautiful. They give you the property for the entire weekend which was super helpful in setting up the day before and cleaning up the day after. The house was definitely a bonus, as we had most of the wedding party stay at the house so they didn't have to pay for a hotel room. The venue is also very close to hotels, gas stations, restaurants, etc. Also, all of the staff at Guildford Farm were very friendly and helpful throughout the entire wedding process. I highly recommend this wedding venue!!

I am biased but seriously the BEST WEDDING VENUE AROUND. Before selecting a venue, we inquired and looked at over 30 places. The moment we toured Guildford... it was love at first sight. Seriously, you can not beat the location, views, event center, property, and the best part... the historic home (an airbnb) you get included. Jonny, Katie, and their family were an absolute dream to work with. The sweetest family. I can not say enough good things about Guildford. It will forever be a special place to us and we are so grateful to of had it as our venue.
My husband and I got married at Guildford Farm in May 2022 and it was the perfect venue and the perfect day. We met at UVA and knew we wanted a venue that felt connected to Charlottesville and reflected the beauty of the area. We instantly felt at home on our venue tour of Guildford - Jonny, Katie, and Rodney spoke exactly to what we were looking for in terms of a day we could craft to exactly what we wanted. They were by our side for the whole process and made sure to prioritize us feeling relaxed and at the center of our day.
The house on the property is a true historic gem and it was SO fun having our whole wedding party stay with us for a true wedding weekend experience. We had ample space to have meals with everyone, get ready the morning-of, play yard games, and some bridesmaids & groomsmen even used the hot tub after our reception ended!
We were also one of the first couples to host our wedding in the new event center and it was the perfect blank canvas for bringing our vision to life. Even though it was a cloudy, drizzly day, the scenery at Guildford stood out and so many guests commented on how picturesque it was. From the front yard of the house to the dock by the pond to all the trees and mountains, our photos came out so beautiful and dreamy.

Guildford Farm is an excellent choice for the wedding of your dreams. The location has a gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and there is a lovely lake on the property (kept stocked for fishing too). Everyone who coordinated with us was professional and responded promptly and thoroughly to any question we had. The historic home is cute and the event center is perfect for larger weddings. Our pictures turned out splendidly in large part to the idyllic setting offered by Guildford Farm. I would highly recommend Guildford Farm for your wedding venue.
Guildford Farm is one of the best kept wedding venue secrets in the Charlottesville area! There are few venues in Charlottesville which off the convenient location and indoor capacity of Guildford Farm. Working with the Kibler family was an absolute delight and made the day tremendously special. Having access to the stunning property and lovely home for the weekend, reduced the feeling of being rushed in and out. Many venues which have multiple weddings each weekend feel more rushed and less special. My bet is Guildford Farm will not stay a secret for long!
I'm bias: but it was the best wedding ever! I've been in the wedding industry in Charlottesville for 9 years now, and Guildford Farm is a HIDDEN GEM. The thing that sold me on this spot was the Farm House that you get for the ENTIRE weekend (plus the venue of course). I had 14 bridesmaids (ha!) and it was really important to me that we all spent time together, so everyone being able to stay in the house all weekend was so special and sweet. Having it ON the same property as the event venue was so incredibly helpful. I was able to get rentals dropped early, set some things up early, etc. It really helped the day-of logistics be even smoother because so much happened BEFORE the big day (also less stress on me the day of). The event space itself is brand new, so you can't beat that. It is pretty bare so you do need to come in with a vision of what you want to turn the space into (I would highly recommend taking pictures during your tour and going through past weddings so you can see how others did it there). We didn't have our rehearsal dinner there, but I love that you have the venue all weekend so you COULD have it there if you wanted! We did our ceremony outside the venue overlooking the water/mountains, cocktail hour was supposed to be outside in front of the farm house but it was a bit too cold so everyone went inside and they said it was their favorite part (so many people said: "It felt like a huge Christmas party in that cozy house!"), and then our reception was back up at the venue. We had 140 guests and did a cocktail style reception (some seated and some standing). We had seating for about 90-100 guests and then a huge dance floor with a DJ. I love that GF is a bit off the beaten path without being forever away from Charlottesville (only 30 from downtown, 15 from the airport--that's amazing). You get STELLAR views and you're not even far from town! Highly, highly recommend!!!!!
Guildford Farm was an outstanding venue! We were thrilled to use the new facility. Jonny and Katie were extremely helpful through the entire process. They were always engaged and answered questions promptly. The manor home stay was outstanding also. All of our guests were very comfortable. It was so convenient to be right on the property! Guildford Farm was the best wedding venue ever! The venue was absolutely beautiful in every way. From the historic manor home to the brand new wedding reception facility, Guildford Farm was absolutely perfect. Jonny and Katie (owners and operators) were extremely helpful for more than a year leading up to the wedding. Always answering any questions we had and making their venue accommodating for any special requests we had. Our guests kept on commenting on how beautiful every part of the venue was. A++!!

My wedding weekend at Guildford Farm was everything I hoped it to be and more. We arranged to come a night early to get settled and relax before all our festivities, which was a great decision. My entire family and my husband’s mom all got to stay comfortably in the lovely, large house for the weekend. The many rooms of the house allowed for lots of space for my family to spread out and be comfortable and for the whole bridal party to be able to be there at the same time the morning of the wedding without the guys and girls seeing each other. The girls used both the master bathroom of the bridal suite for hair and the room across from it, which had gorgeous natural light and a full length, beautiful gilded mirror, for makeup. The guys gathered in the basement game room and were thoroughly entertained! We utilized the balcony for our large wedding party photos. We stood on the front porch and second floor porch of the house, and it was stunning! It was so nice just being footsteps away from the event center. I had forgotten my veil at the house and remembered it shortly before the ceremony started, so I could just send someone to run down to get it. Roddy did an amazing job greeting guests and carting them around the property on his awesomely decorated golf cart (GO DUKES!) We utilized all spaces of the property: we hosted the rehearsal dinner, Friday night meet & greet, and wedding reception all inside and around the event center, which fit all of our 200 wedding guests, and we held a send off coffee/breakfast around the front porch and lawn of the house. Which again, was awesome to only have to relay one address for the entire weekend. Jonny & Katie were both readily available to answer all questions throughout our planning process and through the weekend. They were always so quick to answer questions and figure out solutions for us. It had rained a good bit the days before our wedding, and Jonny was out there on Thursday evening, making sure everything was how we were anticipating. From answering questions from the catering company, the tent rental company, and our day-of coordinator, the Kiblers were attentive with their hospitality and Guildford Farm was the perfect spot to host our wedding!
Guildford Farm was the ideal place for our daughter’s October wedding weekend. The new, beautiful event center and lovely, grand historic home, enhanced by the natural beauty of rolling pastures and surrounding mountain views, make for a magical setting. The beauty and versatility of the spaces and property were only matched by the Kiblers’ warm hospitality, care, responsiveness, and flexibility. Throughout the planning their priority was to make sure the wedding and weekend were everything our daughter and son-in-law wanted it to be and they achieved that with flying colors.
The new event center, with its simple, classic, natural light-filled interior offered a great canvas on which to see our daughter’s vision for her wedding reception come to fruition. The space offers great flexibility for dressing it up or having a more casual vibe. It was so nice to have versatility in holding each part of the celebration in different inside and outdoor spaces. We had the ceremony outside with the great surrounding mountain views and lake below, the cocktail hour on the large, covered front patio, the dinner inside, and then because of the size of our daughter’s wedding (200) we opted to get a tent and have the dancing under it, right next to the covered patio. This allowed for great flow for guests between the inside, the patio and the dance floor, making it all seem like one big wonderful space. It was great to also be able to host the rehearsal dinner at the event center.
The new center is just one of the big highlights of the property. We also loved having the incredible house for the weekend for the family and bridal party and holding an outdoor wedding send-off breakfast there. Guildford Farm is a fabulous place run by terrific people. You will love working with them and creating your dream wedding weekend!
There are not enough positive things that I can say about Guildford Farms! They worked with us when we had to reschedule due to the pandemic and made the process seamless. Our wedding went exactly as planned and every guest loved the venue! Perfect location for an intimate wedding with the beautiful views of Virginia in every direction!

My (now) husband and I fell in love with the scenic backdrop and unique farmhouse during out site visit to Guildford! Although we ended up going with a different reception site, we knew we wanted to include Guildford in our wedding weekend. We worked with the Kiblers to design the rehearsal dinner we always wanted! We had our family stay on the farm which was great to have everyone in one place and we had dinner on the property!
We had many guests from out of town and were able to host the perfect casual welcome party on site and our guests were able to explore the property and play cornhole, canjam and frisbee right in the back yard! The best part about it is it was completely customizable to what we wanted it to be! Working with the Kiblers was a pleasure and we were very happy with the day!
Guildford Farm exceeded my expectations as a wedding venue. The views along with the barn and farm house made for AMAZING wedding photos. My favorite part was the beautiful bridal suite! Being able to book the farm house for the entire wedding weekend made for an intimate weekend with our friends and family. Guildford Farm is a family owned, family run local business. My dad "Paw Paw" (18 grandkids) is the owner and me (Jonny) and my wife (Katie) operate the business. We opened the home and beautiful estate as a wedding venue in 2014 after Katie and I decided to get married on my parent's property (2 of my 3 older brothers and their wives were also married at GF)! We continue to evolve the business, offering lodging in the home for the entire weekend + 2 days of access to our 4,000 sq ft indoor event center (opened in 2021). We are constantly upgrading and adding new exciting features!
