Gunner Sizemore Photography

i’m a small town boy: born and raised in cleveland, mississippi, which is also where I am currently based at in the region. i am extremely sociable (and i never meet a stranger, hahaha)! i currently also work full-time for delta state university, so i tend to stay busy. i’ve always been a hard worker—especially for my clients. i always tell myself and my clients that i want you to get your photos back and say, “wow, i really love these!” the photos do mean a lot to me, and my work matters tremendously, but if my clients aren’t happy then what am i taking photos for? to start it all off, the family had an extremely basic Nikon camera that had the ability to switch lenses, and as a sixteen year old teenager i loved going into the backyard and taking photos of dragonflies and other random things! it never really dug at me to take portraits until my freshman year of college; if a friend was upset about anything going on, i’d tell them, “go get dressed and let’s take some photos!” so, in a way, it was my way of helping my friends stay positive during rough times and that’s when i realized that i needed to do more with it. i loved the feeling of capturing a photograph but i craved the feeling of helping someone else feel more confident in themselves. going into what i know now, i think my best quality as a photographer is ability to pose well. if you look at my work, you can safely think that it looks very candid and honest. in college i was known for how peculiar i was about posing, and i don’t really know how i got it. it just comes naturally! typically, though, i will set my couples in poses and will also give them movements to do to help give the photograph more of a “in the moment” feel. if you’ve made it this far, i want to pay my dues. i owe EVERYTHING to my family. i have a rock solid relationship with my family, and i would absolutely be nowhere in my photography if it wasn’t for them. i wouldn’t have the gear, or even the encouragement to do anything i do, without the help from them. secondly, i always owe everything to my friends who have helped me learn more and more of where my craft needed to be perfected and for always working with me to get where i am. lastly, i thank everyone who has ever looked at me and said, “and where are you going to work after you graduate? i know you’ll still do photography, but…” because of you i have pushed so hard to get to my business where it is. hopefully it will continue to grow!
