In both January and February, I had my bride hair and makeup trial, and 2 others for the mother of the bride, and mother of the groom. We were all very satisfied with the quality of her work, and proceeded with the payment, signed contract, and aligned on the confirmed wedding date. She was pleasant during the trials, and all was good! None of us had any issues or reason to doubt her ability to do a good job, or doubted her overall character.
Then two weeks before the wedding, after full wedding payment was provided, I started to receive very bizarre, confusing, and concerning text messages from Katye.
On some days she had forgotten who I was, questioned why I was contacting her, what services I had requested, yet on other days she would share photos of my completed hair trial, makeup scheduling, and was able to put my name to my face. My contact information has stayed the same as well as my interest for her to do my hair & makeup for my wedding per our contract - (plus services for 10 other girls in the wedding party) - so there were no changes on my end. I was not a bride looking to change this major detail so abruptly weeks before my wedding, as so many other important details are needed at that same time frame.
She started questioning me with strange messages, such as why I had completed her contract, sending me pictures of people who I did not know and asking who it was, acting very paranoid towards me, and began to scare me that she was proving to be very unreliable and confused though our communication. Her odd communication via text and behavior was ultimately not something I wanted to deal with on my wedding day.
This strange communication via text ultimately escalated 3 nights before my wedding day, where I asked her to kindly refund me for a service she cannot provide. She claimed that she could not refund me the full payment I provided for which a service that DID NOT occur - which is not specially stated in her contract.
I tried to get my money back for the past 2 months, and nothing has come of it.
I highly recommend NOT USING this vendor. Her communication is very confusing and unreliable, who ultimately is unable to act as a professional business owner.
If anyone else had a recent poor experience with her in late 2023 / early 2024, please contact me so we can compare timelines.

Katye was so easy to work with and really listened to what I wanted. And while she was great at giving advice about the look I was going for, she didn't push anything on me. I also found it really easy to make tweaks to my hair or makeup with Katye. She was flexible and never seemed bothered by changing things. I've sometimes felt a bit intimidated by other HMUA and haven't spoken up when I've wanted something changed, but I felt so comfortable working with Katye. She and her team were also able to achieve a variety of looks with my group of girls. that the only way I could use my clip in extensions was if I wanted to wear my hair down. The makeup she did was beautiful, but so thick that when I smiled I looked 15 years older-- not what anyone hopes for their wedding day. After that experience I knew I had to find someone else, but I was very nervous to spend even more money on a trial that might not work out.
When I contacted Katye, not only did she respond quickly, she took the time to look at my inspiration photos and photos of my hair before even booking the trial and told me that we could indeed do something like what I was looking for.
At the start of the trial I was still pretty nervous, but Katye quickly put me at ease and did two gorgeous hair and makeup styles on me. In the end I decided to combine elements from each of the two styles, which Katye took in stride and executed beautifully.
On the day of the wedding, Katye kept the whole schedule on track easily - she did hair for my two matrons of honor, hair and makeup for my mom, and even hair and a bit of makeup for my flower girl, who absolutely adored being made to feel like a princess.
Hair and makeup is often the part of the wedding day that seems to throw the schedule of the entire wedding off track, so Katye's ability to easily keep the schedule played a huge role in reducing stress on our wedding day. The whole process was calm and didn't feel rushed. We even finished a bit early! My hair and makeup stayed beautifully the entire night. I couldn't be happier that I picked Katye to do hair and makeup for my big day!

She made things so simple and maintained helpful schedules and photos so we knew what to expect come the big day. We did back-to-back days of full hair/makeup for our traditional and then western style weddings and Katye knocked it out of the park for both! Both days had distinct looks and Katye did such a great job understanding the events and what looks would be best. My mother-in-law, normally more conservative in the formal events, LOVED Katye and even asked for her contact information for future events :)

e cost of the hair and make-up trial. On 2.5.17, I had my hair and make-up trial. After the trial, I came to the conclusion that traditional bridal hair and make-up was not for me. When I emailed Katye to thank her and tell her that I would not be moving forward with her services, she refused to accept the cancellation. She offered to still perform the services, and stated that if I declined to have her perform the services, she would still charge me in full ($566). After we talked on the phone in an effort to come to a resolution, I told her I would call her back. Instead of picking-up my later call, Katye charged my credit card for the full amount of services not performed, including a travel and credit card fee, and she asked me not to contact her again. My credit card was charged without my authorization, and a full week before payment would have been due. Needless to say, I did not want her there on the big day, and thankfully she did not show. I had friends and family help me, which was a really great and fun experience. Having to deal with a vendor like this so close to the wedding was very stressful. All of the rest of our vendors were super helpful, so I was pretty taken back by the whole situation. I caution any brides-to-be when evaluating this option. I also caution against giving this vendor your credit card info, as it was retained and used in a way I felt to be unfair. Lesson learned.
