I had a hair and makeup trial with her 3 days before the wedding which was incredibly helpful and a great opportunity to get an idea of what the hair and make up I wanted would look like for the big day. I wholeheartedly recommend Kong and Hair Etc. for any wedding hair and makeup needs.

Kong not only arrived right on time at our venue, but finished my wedding party early enough we could add on a couple of extra services last minute. a week before the wedding to get my hair balayage highlights (which I was a little nervous about), but it turned out absolutely perfect and I am still loving the color! On the day of the wedding, Kong arrived early and singlehandedly did hair & airbrush makeup for my 3 bridesmaids, mom & me, and made it look easy! Kong knows what she's doing and I highly recommend her for anyone looking for a truly creative stylist! I know I will be coming back to Hair Etc. to color my hair well after our wedding. :)

ine, which was challenging because of the holiday and because many salons I spoke with were uncertain about their capacity due to COVID-19. I started looking at hair salons in the Portland area and stumbled across Hair Etc. When I called and spoke with Kong, she was so warm and friendly right off the bat. I think she could tell how overwhelmed I was planning my wedding during the pandemic and she was very supportive. Even though her schedule was jam-packed with summer weddings, she went out of her way to accommodate me for my July 4th wedding, and even traveled to the venue to do hair onsite for myself and my 4 bridesmaids. As someone who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup and is very low key when it comes to my hair, I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do with my hair for my wedding day. I ended up booking a pre-wedding trial with Kong, which was extremely helpful. At my trial, Kong was able to quickly zero in on my personal style and created a gorgeous, simple up-do that was absolutely perfect for me. I so appreciated that Kong really got me from the get-go and was able to create a hairstyle that fit who I am. On my wedding day, I felt really beautiful and not the least bit fussy or overdone. My hair was just right, and it held up all day without me having to worry about it, even during a windy outdoor ceremony (huge win!) Kong also did an amazing job with my bridesmaids’ hair and was so lovely and fun to work with. I really appreciated her easygoing vibe on the day of the wedding, which helped everything go smoothly and made things feel relaxed. I also appreciated how considerate she was in communicating about day-of details and COVID safety precautions in advance. I can’t recommend Kong highly enough, and am so glad I found her in time for my wedding!

As someone who doesn't love getting their hair and make up done, Kong didn't force me to wear fake eyelashes or push me in a direction I didn't feel comfortable with. Each of my bridesmaids as well as my mother walked away from her chair GLOWING and so at ease! If you are a bride in Maine OR just want to feel absolutely beautiful CALL KONG!!! She is a fairy godmother with a fun sassy twist. Will probably name my first child after her. Seriously. If you want to feel pretty on your wedding day book her ASAP!

ngs, she squeezed me in the day before as well to get my hair blown out. We had 4 bridesmaids, 1 mother, and myself (bride) getting hair and makeup done. Kong did a great job both working with what the girls wanted and making suggestions when they were unsure. She started working on my hair and makeup a little earlier than scheduled to make sure we got everything perfect on time, which I really appreciated! Overall everyone looked beautiful, and everything held up fantastically!! (We had one girl fall asleep in her full hair and makeup after a long night and she looked great the next morning!) I would highly suggest her to anyone getting married in the Portland area!

ut I have really fine hair and try to be realistic so I didn't really think they would be possible and was preparing myself to end up with just a basic bun. Kong was able to make it work into a beautiful hairstyle similar to the ones I had showed her, and it was far more than I expected. I also discovered a last minute headband-type accessory that had not been part of my original plan, and she was able to incorporate that to my hairstyle flawlessly, and with a little extra panache that really made the whole look work. She was great working with me with my makeup as well- she helped me with my wild eyebrows, and worked with me until we got to a look that I was super happy with. As for the day of... she arrived right on time, and was just great. She came to my hotel room and worked with curveballs. When I say curveballs I mean my room didn't have a chair, a mobile mirror, or much lighting to speak of. She just rolled with it, we got the things we needed from the hotel and set up in the little porch area of my room (emphasis on little). She was a total joy to work with, and all of us had a blast with her. I had my 3 and 7 year old nieces as flower girls, and they weren't being the easiest to work with, but Kong was kind and patient and made sure their hair looked beautiful and they were happy. Honestly by the time the actual wedding rolled around I think my hair was just as much the star of my outfit as my dress, and that is something I never expected. Oh, side note- my mom has been going to the same hairdresser for as long as I can remember and has recently started trying to find a new place, Kong touched up her haircut for her and made sure her hair was PERFECT, and my mom said the other night that she was considering going to her in the future for haircuts. This wouldn't be that important to mention except that my mom lives 2 hours from Portland, so I think that's kind of a big deal and a testament to how happy we all with her services. I can't recommend her enough. Thank you for everything, Kong, you truly helped make it an all around perfect day for all of us.
