I’ve had the privilege of working with Jill on several occasions as a fellow vendor. Not only are her photos beautiful but she is great to work with and will ensure you have a fun and painless experience. Jill consistently goes above and beyond to capture all your special moments and brings an infectious energy to everything she does. I’ve worked with many great photographers but Jill is my favorite. The passion in her work really shows and you will not regret hiring her for your wedding.

We were lucky to have Jill and her team to be our photographers on our wedding. I had Jill to take our engagement shoot on our property and oh boy! The photos turned out so great! She was very thoughtful during the entire process, always making sure we were happy with everything, super talented and professional photographer. Our wedding photos are amazing, she made me looks great in every single picture that I cried in joyful tears after seeing our albums. She captured the perfect moments that we love so much. Where do I even start?! Jill is AMAZING! She is professional, friendly, so sweet, creative, efficient, and can remember the names of everyone in your wedding party the first time she meets them! She is great at wrangling the family members and wedding party members for all the traditional wedding shots like she's known them for years. Jill is able to capture the most intimate moments without even knowing she was there. I lovingly refer to her as a photography ninja because of this! She is the BEST wedding photographer that I have ever come across. I was a wedding coordinator for a wedding a few years ago, which is where I first met Jill. Since then, I knew that she would HAVE to be the photographer for my wedding....one day. That day finally happened on July 15, 2023. If you are on the fence about a photographer for any occasion, look on further than Jill and her team at Half a Rice. She goes above and beyond and has an impeccable level of communication and service. And of course, her photos are just beautiful. She is the type of woman who loves to "straighten your crown" and make you feel like the most special person in the world. Jill is so amazing, I would recommend her to anyone who is considering hiring her for their wedding! She was the only photographer (out of approx. 10) that wanted to meet with my husband and I and get to know us and what our vision was for our wedding. She was extremely professional throughout the entire process, and cares so much about her clients. The day of the wedding she ensured to do everything in her power to capture every detail of our special day. I can not recommend her enough!

Jill and her team were amazing!!!! I couldn't have asked for a better photographer. I find photos are extremely important, so when looking for my photographer, I was very selective. I'm so glad I viewed Jill's portfolio. When I saw her work, I knew she'd be the one to capture our wedding. Our wedding photos came earlier than expected. Not to mention, all 1200 photos were absolutely STUNNING! Her team was so fun to work with the day of our wedding. Of course, a flattering compliment makes a great photo hehe. Do yourself a favor and hire Jill and her team for your wedding day. She was literally the easiest and best decision I made in hiring vendors for our wedding day, and if you ever planned a wedding there are A LOT of decisions. I knew from the first call with her that she was going to be my wedding photographer. She was so easy to talk to and asked great questions to really learn about me and my now husband. She took the time to understand what was important to us and what we wanted to be captured on our day. She made me feel comfortable to express any thoughts that I had leading up to the wedding (poses and such). Now, let me talk about the actual day of the wedding... JILL AND HER TEAM ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT! They were on time, splitting up to and working as a team to get everything that needed to be captured. Let me start with this - we chose our wedding date based on Jill's schedule. I have been following Jill from day 1 being a wedding photographer and I know she would be the one to take care of my pictures for the big day. Jill is amazing to work with, energetic, very responsive and patience. Going through a long shooting day, Jill and her team always smiled and made us feel comfortable. The pictures turned out to be amazing and she definitely captured all the emotions/moments of the day. We laughed and even got teary looking back at the wedding day through her pictures. Jill is very outgoing, energetic, and a great hype person! She worked with us and was flexible to our needs. She was also willing to go above and beyond what was expected. Jill is beyond amazing. We met her and her team at a bridal show almost 3 years ago now and I remember being blown away by their work. The packages offered are amazing and the quality is stunning. Jill and her team are exceptional and definitely at the top of their craft. My wife and I were looking for someone who had experience and can produce amazing pictures, and her team delivered! I wish I can show you all some pictures that were taken, they are beautiful, full of emotions, some looked like they were taken at a fairy tale garden in a Disney movie. She can expertly choose the time of day and scenery to create something magical. I have a picture of us taken at sunset under some pine trees, the sunlight ever so slightly peeking through the leaves creating these golden god rays behind our backs, whilst we held each other intimately. I have another picture of us taken at dusk under a blush pink-colored rose flower trellis. There were lights stringed throughout the trellis, illuminating the couple, the ground, and finally dissipating into the surrounding trees and into the night sky. Truly amazing! What I’m trying to say is she and her team are very good at what they do and will capture all the amazing moments on your special day.

Jill and her team are amazing! From day one I told Jill I want her to handle everything. I don’t want to have to tell you what you need to do. I don’t want to pick locations; I don’t want to tell the photographers what shots they need to get. They should know. Boy did they deliver! They did amazing; not only in choosing locations but also in getting all the important shots. Jill is very professional, but also a friend. They arrive on time. They take care of business. Jill and her team arrived at our wedding 3 hours ahead of time, they were very friendly and easy to talk to, they have offered so much help through out the day. I really really don’t think we could have done it without her team. I thought I just hired Jill for the photos and video , but looking back , Jill and her team gave us a sense of security on our wedding day. Danny from Jill’s team photographed our reception and he was so amazing to work with! He was extremely nice, easy to chat with, and very patient when handling my family members jumping in for pictures lol. The pictures he took of my husband and I are phenomenal and we are having a hard time deciding on our favorites to print out and frame. Danny has an incredible eye for framing shots. It also seemed like he was everywhere during our reception and captured so many amazing memories throughout the night. My husband and I couldn’t stop smiling when we scrolled through our gallery and got to re-live the night again. Even though Jill couldn't be there for our reception, she was so sweet and made sure to keep in contact with me before and after our reception to make sure we were doing okay. Jill was the best decision I’ve made for my wedding. I had worked with one photographer on my aunt’s wedding and I always have a fear of them since the pics didn’t come out good. That’s why for my wedding, we spend a long time looking for the photographer and luckily we found Jill. We had a church and tradition Vietnamese wedding together and it was a lot of moments to capture. When I looked at the picture I was happy because it feels like I experienced my wedding one more time. All the emotions and feelings are there in the picture. Jill’s price was reasonable compared to some photographers that was recommended “the best in town”. And her photo quality is not that different from them. I even recommended Jill for my best friend’s wedding and we’re both happy with the pictures. Apart from the photos, Jill’s service on the wedding day is also the best. She was there for me when my bridesmaids has no idea what to do and I’ve appreciated that a lot. Highly recommended!

What a pleasure it was to work with Jill and her team at Half a Rice studios. Through every step of the process Jill was extremely responsive, attentive and genuinely kind. Our wedding had a couple of unique circumstances that may have made us difficult customers - not only did we push our date back from 2020 to 2021, but we were also planning the wedding from half way across the country. Jill handled both of these circumstances with incredible grace (she even visited us when she happened to be travelling to our new city!!) When we were finally able to celebrate our wedding in May, it truly felt like we had a friend photographing us. Jill and her team were THE BEST decision my husband and I have made for our wedding!!! She's so personable and caring. She took so much time getting to know us and our story. They worked together, with so much dedication. They came early and stayed late and worked with all of our last minute schedule changes. Where to even begin! Half a Rice Studios, and specifically Jill (owner/ lead photographer) herself, were the easiest and BEST decisions we made for our wedding day. When I began the search for wedding photographers I thought I could decide based on what I saw with their work - while that is of a very large part of the process, Jill truly solidified our choice to move forward with Half a Rice. We originally met her at a wedding expo and had the opportunity to speak several times on the phone before signing contracts, etc. She is so personable and truly wanted to know about my husband and I’s story, where we come from, and what we really wanted for our special day. We clicked immediately and knew that we could trust her in capturing our most treasured memory! She was our biggest cheerleader through a global pandemic #covidcouple, continuously reaching out to make sure we were hanging in there, that our family’s were doing okay, and most importantly: reminding us that we were still getting married (just 7months late) and it was still going to be the greatest day of our lives. She was right :) and thanks to her absolutely beautiful work, we have pictures that are truly irreplaceable. These are keepsakes that we will look back on for years and years to come. Even far beyond our actual wedding day, Jill was extremely helpful in finalizing all the details of our album - WHICH IS AMAZING! I can be an extremely indecisive person and Jill would send me pics, videos, and examples of album covers/ font colors, etc. to pick the perfect album for us. *She also went above and beyond to customize our photo booth printouts and has the best set up! Jill is a fantastic photographer. She did not charge us extra even though we postponed our wedding twice due the pandemic. We got the package to have 2 photographers (8 hours) for the wedding day and it was the best decision we had made for the wedding. Jill and her team took amazing photos for us. She's really professional, friendly and easy to work with. I highly recommend her if you having a wedding coming up or any other events that needs a photographer for her caliber.

Jill was extremely professional throughout the whole process and really made the day of go smoothly even with lots of family photos between the ceremony and reception. She was extremely accommodating with any COVID restrictions, too. We loved the amazing candid moments she captured of us individually and with our friends/family. Jill is so amazing to work with and I would highly recommend her for all your photography needs! I fell in love with her style in her Instagram and Blog pictures and booked her right away. She did our engagement shoot and I absolutely love all of the pictures she sent to us. Jill has a wonderful gift in creating pictures that feel effortless and natural. We had so much fun during our wedding photo session. She was so easy to work with and her turnaround time was so fast. We cannot recommend her enough!

One of the best decisions of our entire wedding! Working with Jill and her team was amazing from start to finish. We loved the candid style of her photos right away, and her incredibly friendly demeanor sealed the deal. Jill took time to get-to-know us, learned our family members by name, was patient with our ever-changing schedule, and worked her butt off to photograph our entire 3-day wedding. Jill captures all the moments you WISH you could see during your wedding day - because it all goes by so fast and you can't be everywhere at once... but Jill and her team were everywhere! My wedding was across 2 days with 2 different events: a tea ceremony & wedding ceremony + reception. In addition, my wedding ceremony day was a LONG day (early morning to late night.) The package that Jill crafted for us was so personalized and the BEST price point we could ask for - the most competitive pricing! Jill and her team exceeded our expectations. Jill did our engagement photos to start and we were so very impressed! She was so helpful with prepping for our big day and did an amazing job keeping us on track with everything we wanted. Jill was phenomenal! She was an absolute pleasure to work with and eased my concerns about the backyard venue and how it would photograph. I knew from her website the pictures would be great but I never imagined they would look so beautiful and capture emotion so well! Jill made us feel so comfortable as a couple and that made a huge difference in how relaxed and genuine we all look in the pictures! Jill takes beautiful photographs. Specifically, her candids are insanely good -- she is able to capture all the feeling and emotions in the room while also somehow catching flattering angles. It's awesome. We couldn't be happier with our wedding pictures. We got married in late October with a reception in our backyard. We wanted our wedding to be low-key, elegant, and a reflection of us and that is exactly what we got working with Jill. We met her on the day of our wedding -- we talked on the phone and via Skype before. She was always professional, nice, and friendly. At the ceremony, Jill knew/remembered everyone's name. She was great at giving direction when needed and then also blending into the background.  Jill also got us all our pictures in less than month and in time to show our families at Thanksgiving -- this is just one of dozens of examples from our interactions with her where she went above and beyond to make our special day even more special. We can't recommend Jill enough!

Where do I even begin?! Jill far exceeded my expectations. She surprised me with a few highlight photos 24 hours after our wedding!!! I was so surprised. On top of that, not only did she deliver our completed wedding photos within a month (unheard of!!) of our wedding, she also wanted to meet in person to make sure I was happy with the photos. Let's just say I may or may not have cried looking through the photos... If that's any testament on how I felt about her photos. Jill was a joy to work with! She was completely accommodating and flexible - I had a last minute tea ceremony the morning of my wedding that I wanted her to take pictures of. She spoke fluent Vietnamese which made it incredibly easy to work with her since she was able to communicate with my family members. My parents were in love with Jill, to say the least. Lastly, what impressed me the most about Jill was how directive she was the entire day. As other brides and grooms know, there's a lot of things going on at once and a lot of people everywhere. Jill provided guidance on how she wanted us to pose, where to pose, what to do with our hands, etc. And it's the exact kind of guidance you need amidst all the chaos that comes with a wedding day. I can not recommend Jill enough for weddings. She was amazing, and I would pick her as my photographer again in a heartbeat.

When it comes to wedding photography, there’s a whole lot of average, and its easy to make a wrong choice. With Jill, we very quickly realized that her work was head and shoulder anything that we’d seen before. Relived our crazy wedding timeline and hoped that we’d get something even half as good as the other weddings! We weren’t disappointed at all - the shots we got back were insanely good! And I’m crazy particular on picture because I do scrapbook. Jill directed our families around perfectly and blended into the background. She is also unbelievably easy to work with, both in setting up the shoot, the day of, and when she delivered the images. She is super responsive over text and email, and provided our photo way ahead of schedule. ❤️ In person, Jill is really kind and friendly. We spent about 2 years looking for the perfect wedding photographer. We were lucky to have found Jill on The Knot website. There were plenty of positive reviews about her photos and how great it was working with her. We were impressed with her work, especially her indoor and dinner shots. She made dining halls with low light look amazing. She was also a joy to be around and work with. What I liked most was how she made everyone in the photos look great. Her photo composition and sense of style are fantastic! Our parents and family really loved the photos.

We LOVED working with Jill! What a dream! We used her for our engagement photos first, and then again for the wedding. When she showed up for our engagement session, the weather was rainy and gross, but she kept us on schedule and made everything look so beautiful in the photos! Words cannot describe how much we love Jill and her crew for the amazing job they did at our wedding! When I first went to meet Jill we only planned on meeting for 30 minutes or so, but 30 minutes turned into two and a half hours! We had a great time chit chatting and getting to know each other. Jill is a dear friend of mine since first grade.
