Hallmark Cakes

JoAnn at Hallmark Cakes is amazing! She hand crafted a tiramisu cake for our wedding and I kept having guests come up to us complimenting on the flavor, moisture, and pillowy texture of the cake. She is prompt, professional, and knowledgeable! We wanted a minimalist cake design and she made it perfect and classic. I know that tradition is to typically save part of the cake to enjoy with your spouse on your one year anniversary, however her cake is so delicious that I don't think my husband and I can wait! It is that good!

Wow! Jo Ann is simply incredible. Not only is she kind and easy to work with, but she is extremely talented at her craft. My husband and I had the most delicious cakes at our wedding. One was a Pumpkin Spice cake with Ginger Cream Cheese and the other was a Chantilly cake. Her cakes truly blew me and my guests away. Plus they were gorgeous & Pinterest-worthy! I could not be more please with Hallmark Cakes. Thank you Jo Ann for making us cakes that were more beautiful and more delicious than anything we could have asked for!!

On October 12th, we had our dream mountain wedding! After reviewing numerous vendors we knew we hit the jackpot when we contacted Jo Ann Hallmark. My husband and I did a cake tasting with her and we had to book her right there and then. She is so knowledgable and easy to work with! Such a pleasure! We chose a pumpkin spice cake with a chai ginger frosting and yes ... it was absolutely delicious! Seriously, do not look further! Hallmark Cakes is the way to go! :)

I am the father of the bride. My wife, daughter (bride) and I inquired about who to make a wedding cake for our daughter’s wedding in November 2019 in Blowing Rock, NC, and we received a high recommendation for a wedding cake prepared by Jo Ann Hallmark (Hallmark Cakes). We studied her designs and reviews and were convinced she was the perfect designer/baker for our daughter’s wedding cake. We communicated immediately with Jo Ann and she was extremely responsive and answered all of our many questions in a friendly and thorough manner. We set up an appointment for the bride and groom to have a cake tasting…and WOW! First Jo Ann was very efficient and patient. We loved her philosophy and approach—she said think of your favorite dessert and flavors, in whatever form (not just a traditional cake) and I can make that into a wedding cake. She also said “pick what you like, not what you think your guests will like”. With that in mind, the bride and groom told her of their favorite desserts—key lime pie, tiramisu, and rich chocolate. She gave them a sampling of her cakes and man…it was delicious! The best cake they had tasted! They decided on a four-tier cake, with two layers of key lime, one layer of tiramisu, and one of chocolate fudge with rich chocolate ganache. The wedding ceremony was outside with the North Carolina mountains as a backdrop. The cake design was beautiful and received so many compliments. But what was inside was even better—the cake flavors were fantastic, and it is a good thing I ordered a cake for 180 people (when the attendance was 110) because THERE WAS NO CAKE LEFT!!! People went back for additional cake in different flavors. The cake was truly one of the highlights of the wedding! In addition to the wedding cake, Jo Ann did the groom’s cake that was presented at the rehearsal dinner. It was likewise delicious and very little was left. Jo Ann was easy to work with to create a cake that represented the groom’s interests. It was perfect!!!! Jo Ann is the one to go to for a wedding cake in the Blowing Rock/Boone/Banner Elk and surrounding North Carolina area. She limits the number of cakes that she makes (from scratch) per weekend and they are not mass produced, homemade, and made with love! Thanks Jo Ann.

Our cake was exactly how we imagined it looking and tasting! 10/10 recommend!

Jo Ann did such a wonderful job on our cake. We asked for a honey cake with lavender buttercream and it was the perfect, subtle, not too sweet confection. Our guests absolutely loved it too!!

I am biased about Jo Ann because I have known her my whole life, but I cannot even say how blown away I was by the gorgeous four-tiered cake she made for my wedding. Each layer was a different, creative, delicious delight. I sent her a photograph of how I wanted the exterior to be decorated and she replicated it almost exactly, except BETTER! It was just amazing to walk into my reception and see the most beautiful cake ever. I am still receiving compliments on both the look of it and how incredibly delicious it was. Jo Ann Hallmark was fantastic to work with. She made our groom’s cake as well as our wedding cake. The cakes tasted amazing! We had a ton of different flavors and she worked with us on everything. We had red velvet cake with cream cheese icing for the groom’s cake and our wedding cake consisted of: vanilla cake with strawberry and cheesecake filling, chocolate torte with mocha filling, and vanilla tiramisu filling all with buttercream icing. We had so many compliments on all of the flavors. We left flowers for her to decorate the cake with and it was absolutely stunning. Highly recommended from me and the hubs!

My favorite thing about JoAnn Hallmark is that she begins by asking you what your favorite desert is, because no matter what it is, she will make a cake version of it! Our cake was two layers of key lime cake and a key lime curd (for my husband) and a layer of the most decadent carrot cake ever (for me). JoAnn also worked with us on the design of the cake and was very patient while I struggled to decide on what I wanted (went with gold leafing and it was lovely). I would highly recommend her!

We were so fortunate to have JoAnn create our amazing wedding cake. She was a joy to work with and listened to our every need. The cake looked and tasted amazing. She exceeded our every wish!!!

So thankful we choose Jo Ann Hallmark to do our cake. We live 4 hours away so we did this on reviews only and couldn't be more pleased. The cake was awesome and everyone took pics and were all into our cake. We were so happy with the cake design and also the taste. We would recommend Jo Ann to anyone. We answered or returned all calls and all emails. With us being so far away this was very relaxing to us. Bill and myself were so happy Being a same sex marriage we ran into many bumps in the road but Jo Ann made us feel special and no different than any other couple. We will we could give 50 starts

Everyone I know says JoAnn makes the best wedding cake around--beautiful cakes that reflect your personality and that actually taste good! And at such reasonable prices. So choosing to work with her for our Hallowedding cake was a no-brainer! She helped us think about what we wanted it to look and taste like and gently guided us while totally respecting our wishes. The end result was lovelier than we had hoped and tasted delicious. I can't wait for our first anniversary so we can pull our top layer out of the freezer and enjoy it all over again. Thanks, JoAnn!

Joann was great to work with! She hosted us at her house for a tasting and we were immediately sold when she said think of your favorite dessert and I will make it into a cake. Well that is what we did, we had 3 cakes at the wedding (banana pudding, strawberry shortcake, and cookies and cream) and 1 small cake made for our anniversary (we told her we loved cookie cake so we are excited to see what is in store for us when we open it on our anniversary!) Everyone was raving about the cakes, especially the banana pudding, I heard people saying it was the best cake they have ever had. The cakes were beautifully decorated as well! I wouldn't have asked for anything better. Needless to say there were VERY few leftovers to take home!

Her cake was great. She matched my flower color progression and it looked amazing. It tasted great too! All our guests said how delicious it was, and they would know since there was none leftover.

Joann did such an amazing job on our cake. It tasted delicious and looked so beautiful. She was helpful with answering our questions and making our vision come to life. It was more than I could have imagined.

She really worked with us to give us exactly what we wanted. The cake and cupcakes were beautiful and delicious!!! She really put the detail and time into it.

We had the groomscake done by Joann. she was very eager to please no matter how crazy of a cake we needed. (football feild cookie cake with a 3-D football cakke on top)It looked amazing and tasted great.

My husband went for a more classic and simplistic looking cake and it was beautiful. Hallmark Cakes aims to please and succeeds!

We were given our wedding cake as a gift, so I was looking for a groom's cake. I made the perfect choice!!! I ordered a Tiramisu cake with a yellow camaro pictured on the top. It was a surprise for my groom, and it was the hit of the reception!!! My mistake was not getting a larger cake from her!!! Delicious flavor, perfect texture, fabulous decorating, and the decorations were butter cream (not fondont!!!) She has a talent for baking and decorating, and she is a wonderful person too! I hope to use her for our anniversary cakes every year!!! She stays busy and works from her home, so contact her early to ensure she's available for your day!!! Highly recommended!!!

Joanne agreed to do our wedding cupcakes, and they turned out beautifully, and tasted even better. I would unhesitatingly recommend her to anyone with a wedding or special event in the high country area!
