Sally Duvall did a terrific job on my makeup, and my mom's, on my wedding day. Just like on the day of my makeup trial, Sally showed up on time and was professional, respectful, and, frankly, a calming presence to have around in a hotel suite full of chattering relatives on a crazy day! She remained calm and helpful throughout, even during my little overheating episode where I needed to sit next to an open window during a snowstorm to cool down while she worked on me! I loved how my makeup looked on that day, and my mother says that photos of her from that day are among her favorites of herself of all time. Sally showed up on time, did exactly what we had discussed at the trial, stuck around to touch me up for photos, and left me powder, sponges, and lipsticks for the rest of the day. When I look back at my photos from the "getting ready" portion of the day, I remember how much I enjoyed it and what a wonderful atmosphere there was in the room and Sally was a big part of that. Sally was beyond amazing! She graciously came to my apartment for a trial about a month before my wedding and helped me hone in on my personal style and "look." On the day of our wedding, Sally came to our venue in Long Island City early and was beyond friendly and accommodating to everyone. I can honestly say that Sally is one of the calmest AND kindest people I have ever met. It was an absolute joy to work with her and I would recommend her 100%.

Sally first did my makeup for my son's wedding. She did an amazing job for the entire wedding party which included my daughter. When my daughter got engaged, I immediately booked sally for her wedding. Wish I could post pictures! I think she is an exceptional artist- she also is a lovely person.

I cannot say enough GREAT things about Sally Duvall. I met her when she was doing makeup for my best friends wedding. She did my makeup and I hired her on the spot for my wedding which was 6 months later. I was blown away with the makeup she did for my friend, her mother, sister and my own that day. When it was my turn, I had a trial done ahead of time which I used for engagement pictures. The makeup was flawless, and I got so many compliments on how gorgeous the pictures were. And of course when it came time for my big day, I could not be more impressed with how efficiently Sally worked. She came early and got my makeup, both mothers, all my bridesmaids (7 of them) and a few extra people which were added at the last minute done well before the stated time. She was pleasant and professional and very sweet. I have recommended her to anyone who has asked for makeup artist suggestions without hesitation! Additionally, I have personally used her for 3 more events after my wedding. Every single time I have been impressed with the results. Sally is a sweetheart, and I HIGHLY recommend her to any bride currently looking to find a makeup artist. She is excellent!

Sally made a day of chaos feel like a day of fun. No matter came at her (aka my crazy friends and in laws) she couldn't have been more patient, kinder, or sweeter to everyone even when they weren't to her. Everyone also looked incredible, and stayed that way through the night. Even high maintence friends who claimed their wedding makeup was "the best" commented on how great she was and they wished they had used her. I want to get married again just to have an excuse to hang out with Sally. She's wonderful both as a human and as a talent.

Sally Duvall has to be the most respectful, honest and glad to also have her as a dear friend. I am not a "makeup" person and she has done my makeup twice and for each event everyone asks who had done my makeup and asked to be referred to her! She is dedicated and talented in what she does and always keeps me at ease and makes me feel beautiful! HIGHLY recommend this artist if you want to look the best hands down!

From start to finish, Sally was a true professional. I feel confident in recommending her to anyone looking to hire a talented makeup artist who is considered one of the top in her field by her fellow professionals and clients. As a client, it can sometimes be challenging to articulate exactly what you want. Sally was able to take the ideas I had in mind and beautifully translate them into the perfect look that I wanted. It was very natural looking makeup; I looked like myself, but a more refined and elegant version which was fitting for the occasion. Also, Sally was able to provide helpful tips on how to get my skin in its best shape before our wedding day. I still use many of the pointers she provided, talk about a return on a worthwhile investment! In addition to my makeup, she did the makeup for my three brides maids and mother. Having never met any of them until the day of, she did an incredible job of matching colors to various skin tones and hair colors all in a short amount of time. Everyone was pleased with the looks she created for them. As far as the process that led up to our wedding day, Sally was quick to respond to any questions I had. She is one of the most interesting, knowledgable, coolest people I've met. The day of, her disposition was so calm and reassuring. Because of this, I was able to take in every moment with my bridal party and mom. She is exactly the kind of person one needs during what could be considered high stress moments or events as she is able to create a sense of ease in those around her. The makeup she applied lasted from the morning well into the night and she left the lipstick and samples of the blush, powder, and eye shadow in case I needed to reapply. I still receive numerous compliments on my makeup and overall look from that day and our photos were stunning. That is greatly due to the magic Sally created. If I have a future event and need to hire a makeup artist, Sally is at the top of my list. I can only hope she will be available because she is always in high demand!

Sally is an incredible artist and I'm so lucky she was with me and my wedding party on my wedding day. I felt so confident during every moment of my wedding because she made me look my best. She is the consummate professional and absolutely reliable.

Sally is the best of the best!! Her work is flawless and lasts throughout the day and night (trust me, as I think it was close to 100 degrees the day I got married). She listens to exactly what you want and achieves the look you are going for and will custom blend shades for your eyes and lips to make it just perfect. She was super accommodating when at the last minute all 9 of my bridesmaids decided they wanted their make up done too. She worked super fast to get everyone done ahead of schedule - by herself!! I think what speaks volumes and more than any review possibly could, is that numerous bridesmaids and guests at my wedding have used her for their own bridal make up. Her work is amazing! You will not be disappointed. LOVE LOVE LOVE her!

Sally not only handled my bridal party (picky mom and meticulous bridesmaids) like a champ but I also had a raging rash on my face that day, Sally was in touch with me the entire morning prior to arriving with suggestions to calm my skin etc. and did any amazing job covering up, not to mention I am freckled girl so caky make up makes me look awful. As if that wasnt enough we were on a tight schedule and falling behind, i got lipstick on my dress etc etc all throughout Sally was helpful. I felt gorgeous my pictures were amazing, my bridesmaids looked gorgeous and I received nothing but compliments all night. Oh and my trial was so amazing I ended up going out that night to rock the make up!

I had looked all over for a makeup artist that was going to make me look beautiful and natural on my wedding day in May 2014. When I found Sally I was ecstatic with the results. I felt the way every bride should feel on her special day. I found Sally to be pleasant, professional, and she really listened to my ideas and wishes. Sally is THE Best EVER! She did both my daughters weddings and both of their 10 brides maids (so 20) as well as my makeup (mother of the bride) and the grandparents of the bride!!! She is the coolest most calm professional we have ever worked with!!! The makeup,was so flawless that it was still on the next morning picture perfect! She actually came in a hurricane (hurricane Irene) to do my 2nd daughters wedding, bridal party etc- she is the most talented professional we have ever met! She originally came recommended to me by a very famous planner and I never had to look any further- I pray everyday that our son hurries up and finds a fiancé just so I can sit and have Sally do our makeup again!!! We all loved our makeup and love Sally ! and her cool calm demeanor got us thru one of the most difficult days ever (a hurricane wedding!!!) she is prompt, lovely, professional and so amazingly talented! If I were a Kardashian she would be by my side every single day!!!! We all looked and felt gorgeous when Sally did our makeup! Haven't felt like that in a long time ;)

I found Sally to be the utmost professional. She made my bride, her bridesmaids and my mother-in-law look absolutely beatiful - no small feat that - just kidding mom. I had been married before but it was the first time for my wife and she was more than a bit nervous. Sally was able to get her to calm down, relax and just have fun. The way it should be. I personally thank Sally and would recommend her to anyone.

"Stay Away" is exactly the rating I would give, as Sally was unfortunately the worst part of my wedding. I had gone to her home for a trial, where she was pleasant, did my makeup and my mother in law’s makeup and took pictures. However, after my trial Sally was very slow on email and then was just not getting back to me. I should have known it was a bad sign when I could not get in touch with her until the day before my wedding when she called me to apologize for being so busy that she did not have a chance to collect payment from me ahead of time but informed me she was bringing an assistant at no additional expense. Although she did not address my request of sending an updated contract reflecting the price promised when having a certain amount of faces, I was on the way to my rehearsal dinner during this conversation so I just let it go and was happy that nothing had happened and we were still confirmed for the next day. What I got on my wedding day was anything but professional behavior and was an absolute nightmare. Sally arrived early on my wedding day, with the assistant and plenty of time to do my makeup, but she had no pictures from my trial, no recollection of anything we talked about and a very negative and dismissive attitude. When I asked her to cover a blemish, she told me I was being “nit-picky” and when I informed her she used different lashes than she had during my trial she was very defensive and told me I must have asked for them (it was my first time using lashes and I would not have even know what to ask for). Then before I even had blush or lipstick on, she proceeded to pack up all her makeup and tell me that she had to leave to tend to another bride because one of her artists did not show up. After reading reviews I now know that I am not the only one she has done this to! She left her assistant with a couple of lipsticks, none of which were ones used in my trial, called me a child for being upset and left. When I tried to pay her assistant, as the poor girl had no idea Sally was leaving her and did try her best, she told me she could not take my money as she was already paid by Sally. The day after my wedding I received threatening texts from Sally claiming that she was hiring a lawyer, that I caused her distress, and that I did want to pay her- all lies that my bridal party, bridal attendance, photographer and videographer could vouch for. She tried charging me more because she brought an assistant, when it clearly stated “zero cost” in her contract and she had reconfirmed that there was no additional cost on the phone the day before my wedding. Although she did not finish the job she was hired to do, made me cry on my wedding day, sent crazy emails to my work email address, did a horrible job with my makeup, as it was not any of the colors I had chosen and it did not stay in place, tried to create a case of lies for no reason, I paid Sally in full to never have to see or think of her again. Sally caused me so much unnecessary drama and stress on my wedding day and is not the type of vendor anyone would want around them on a special day. Hiring her was the biggest mistake I ever made and I will always feel sad when I look at my wedding pictures and be reminded of what she put me through.

Sally made me and my bridal party look perfect. She was easy to work with and we were all so happy!! Thank you!!!!!!!!

We found Sally's website through a potential videographer. I loved her portfolio online and booked a trial with Marlena. She was very professional and I loved my makeup. Marlena did a fantastic job on our makeup and everyone looked absolutely beautiful! I'm so happy I decided to hire her to do my bridesmaids and both mothers.

Not only did Sally make me look and feel beautiful on my wedding day, she also was a life saver when my hair stylist got stuck in NYC! She called a hair stylist, who arrived shortly later and did an absolutely amazing job! Sally was super flexible for my make up trial and made it look exactly like the picture I showed her. My mom has super sensitive skin and Sally told her that if she felt more comfortable she would use my moms makeup on her - which she greatly appreciated. She is not only super talented but very sweet and calming for me on my wedding day. My make up stayed perfect through my tears of happiness and sweating from dancing!! My sister in law used her as well and we both HIGHLY recommend her. I feel so blessed that she wasn't book the day of my wedding!!!

Sally is a miracle worker! I wanted to look like the best and most beautiful version of myself- but at the end of the day- look like myself. She did that, and so so so much more. She also took care of all of my girls- my mother, my husbands mother, my sister, and my cousin (bridesmaid). She was so calm and worked wonderfully with everyone. She took her time and listened to what I wanted, during both the trial and the day of. My makeup lasted from 9am to after 11pm!!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sally. She is perfection when it comes to makeup.

Sally did my wedding make-up as well as my mother's for my NJ wedding. Since she lives in Westfield, it was easy for her to travel to my NJ home to do my make-up that day. She is just so talented and really made us look spectacular. I highly recommend her. She offered to come by the wedding later to touch me up, but I called her off as my make up looked great!
