Mia, from Mia Kristina Photography, was the only disappointment on an otherwise beautiful day, but that disappointment clouded the entire day for me.
Mia Kristina Photography was c...
ontracted through TMT Weddings, and she was confirmed to start at 3:00pm at the wedding venue. We planned and expected that the formal wedding photos would all be done before the ceremony. BUT Mia was 1½ hours late to my daughter’s wedding! She missed all the preliminary photos and that in turn caused my daughter and son-in-law to miss parts of their special day because they had to take formal photographs during the cocktail hour and reception.
We began calling Mia’s cell phone (which had been provided to us by TMT Weddings) at 3:15 but there was no answer then or each time we called after that. We also called TMT and left a message at 3:45. They called back at 4:00 and confirmed that Mia had been given the correct address for the venue, but that she had gone to 2 other venues before she realized she was in the wrong place?! All the guests were in their seats, and the officiant was about to begin when Mia finally arrived at 4:30. When confronted as to why she was late, her only response was, “Oh, well.” Mia should have called us at the time she was expected to be at the venue if she wasn’t going to be on time, but she never called us or TMT to say she was running late or lost - we were just left waiting and on edge, not knowing if she would show or not. No family needs that aggravation on what can be a joyous but stressful day.
As the mother-of-the-bride, this caused my stress level to skyrocket. Everyone who was to be photographed before the ceremony was at the venue by 3:00pm. We waited hoping Mia would show up or call, then we worried she would not show at all, so we started taking photos using our phones to capture what she was obviously missing.
We planned to have the formal photos taken before the ceremony since my daughter and her fiancé wanted to enjoy the cocktail hour and mingle with their guests as much as possible. Since Mia was so late, all the photographs had to be taken during the cocktail hour and during the reception. This meant the members of the wedding party and those family members who were to be in the formal photos completely missed the cocktail hour and all the special foods we had provided. In addition to completely missing their much-anticipated hors d’oeuvres, the bride and groom had to leave the reception repeatedly to take formal photos outside. I felt so bad that they missed so much of their special day just because the PHOTOGRAPHER WENT TO THE WRONG VENUE TWICE!?
Mia left at 9:00. No apology for being late and no offer to stay to take additional candid photos. TMT was apologetic that Mia was so late, so they refunded us $216! Really? Their photographer caused so much unnecessary stress, missed once-in-a-lifetime photos and that’s what we received?
I cannot recommend Mia Kristina Photography. Anyone thinking of hiring her should consider what you would miss if your photographer were 1½ hours late on your wedding day. Mia’s arrogance at being late and not seeming to care how it affected the entire wedding day, caused unnecessary stress that bothers me when I think about how perfect the rest of the day was.
This being said, the photos Mia’s took were beautiful, but there aren’t many candid shots (since she was taking formal pictures during the cocktail hour and reception) and she missed many of the formal photos we expected.
I can’t say enough about Mia and Cristina. They are amazing to work with. From the first time I met them, they were already focused on making sure they did all they could to make o...
