Handsome Hollow

We are so happy that we decided to get married at Handsome Hollow! When visiting the venue (covered in snow) in March 2021, we immediately knew that this was the place where we wanted to celebrate with our family and friends. As outdoorsy people, we love how the venue is nestled in nature (no other property or road in sight) and features both a vibrant fern forest and rolling mountains. We also adored the charm and high-end details of the barn–the romantic string lights, the large rolling doors on each side of the barn which allow guests to enjoy the outdoor setting while inside (in comparison to the stereotypical dark barn), the details on the bathroom floors, and more. In short, the perfect setting for a summer wedding in the Catskills. Initially, some of our guests questioned why we’d get married in such a remote place, but even our most skeptical guests instantly fell in love with the venue and thought the trip was more than worth it. Lots of guests told us that our wedding was a true fairytale and encapsulated who we are as a couple. Besides the serene surroundings, we also loved the variety of sites at the same location. Guests were welcomed with a drink at the ruins, we then got married in the stunning forrest (people were raving about the natural light beaming through the trees and birds singing), we enjoyed cocktails and life music on the romantic patio, dinner and dancing in the barn, snuck in a s’more at the majestic bonfire, and took some late-night photos underneath the outdoor string lights at night. While we were not in close contact with Kate during the wedding preparations (although she did answer every question promptly), her eye for detail and attention to us and our guests on the day of the wedding did not go unnoticed. We organized the wedding ourselves, but worked with a wedding coordinator on the day of the event so we could fully enjoy our day. We highly recommend collaborating with Every Little Detail (coordinator) and Main Course (caterer) as they frequently work together with Kate and are perfectly attuned to ensure that all details are in order and guests can enjoy the best experience. If you’re dreaming of an outdoorsy whimsical wedding, we highly recommend Handsome Hollow. That said, here are a few considerations to keep in mind: (1) A big part of the magic of Handsome Hollow is that it’s nestled in nature but the remote location also implies that you’ll have a smaller set of vendors to choose from and higher delivery or travel costs. (2) There are few hotels in the area that allow larger room blocks. Villa Roma has very poor ratings and boutique hotels don’t allow you to block multiple rooms far in advance. Most of our guests opted for AirBnBs, which made it hard to organize buses. (3) There are no Ubers/Lyfts in the area and very limited taxi services. Further, if you want to extend the party after 12pm, you’ll be obliged to organize buses or taxis (even if your guests are scattered across the area). (4) The preferred vendor list we received could benefit from some updates as multiple businesses were no longer in business or no longer want to travel to Handsome Hollow. (5) Make sure to remind your guests to take a shawl or jacket for the night, even on warm summer days.

This place is magic. From stepping on to the property, we knew it was the place for us. Kate and Huck made us feel like family from the get go, and were there every step of the way (over 15 months) to put our minds at ease, answer questions, and to generally make us excited for our wedding. They assisted with vendor planning, site set-up, logistics, day-of coordination, the list goes on. And who can forget how absolutely stunning this property is? We got ready at the property, making full use of the farmhouse for the girls and the barn loft for the guys. Come showtime, our guests were baffled by Handsome Hollow. “Where did you find this place?!” was the most common question of the night. After all, they’d had welcome drinks next to stone ruins, walked through a fern forest to a wooded ceremony, and partied all night long in a barn fit for a Hollywood film. When the sun goes down, the place turns into an entirely new type of dream, fit with string lights, lanterns, and Huck’s famous campfire. We had a vision for our wedding, but Handsome Hollow blew every vision out of the water. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. Thank you, Kate and Huck.

I honestly can’t think of anything that could have gone better when it came to venue selection. Huck and Kate were with us every step of that way, and very patient. We had a creative vision that they allowed us to take full control of in partnership with our vendors. We only wish we could have attended our wedding from a guests perspective because we have received rave reviews ever since our day. Tuck in for a beautiful venue that surrounds you in nature and stillness and provides you with the perfect canvas for whatever your vision is.

HH is a venue with beauty that is otherworldly and Kate and Huck are so professional, hospitable, and on top of their game, that all of your wedding dreams will come true if you choose HH. The Grounds- HH is breathtaking. The location is incredibly remote and the property spans across lush green fields and sprawling woods made up of ferns and flourishing trees. For your ceremony there are 3 sites to choose from. There is an area in the woods were we had our ceremony and honestly it felt like a fairytale to be surrounded so intimately by nature and to cross a small stream. Kate provides different arbors for you to choose from and provides all of the benches/chairs for your guests. In addition, Handsome Hollow has a stunning "Ruins" area with an earthly and beautiful stone wall backdrop. The last site is the “meadow”. The barn, where your reception will probably be held, is truly remarkable. It is such a large breathable, airy space that easily acts as a chameleon and adopts your wedding theme/decor so naturally. Off of the barn is a beautiful patio area with large lanterns on tables that Kate provides and tons of room for your bar, guest book/gifts, a cigar bar (if you wish!) and anything else your heart desires. They also light the fire pit for you and provide large adirondack chairs. There are also cafe lights strung up off the barn and trees creating the most dreamy nighttime setting. Last but not least, the farmhouse on the property is so quaint and charming. It is the most perfect atmosphere (it’s something out of a magazine) to get ready in on the day of with you girls and family. We also held our rehearsal dinner here the night before our wedding, on the front porch, and it was just so cozy and magical. Kate lets her bride and groom stay at the farmhouse from Friday-Sunday so you can get everything ready the day before your wedding, have your rehearsal dinner etc. She provides all linens, towels, basic toiletries etc. The team- Kate and Huck are the dream team. You simply are incapable of having a bad wedding at HH. Kate has an eye for detail and thinks of everything. On the day of your wedding you are her top priority and it shows! Personally, I really appreciated her take charge attitude and thoughtfulness! She was a key player in ensuring a smooth and wonderfully fun wedding! She’s also a boss in that golf cart! The golf cart makes it extremely easy to get around the venue in style and it’s just fun! Huck is also amazing. He led our rehearsal dinner and even in my moments of stress he made me laugh and reassured me that on the day of it would be less like herding cats (haha I promise I love my family and friends). He was fantastic at making sure we had everything we needed on Friday! His cool, calm and patient demeanor was very much appreciated with my large wedding party. Kate and Huck also provide the most detailed packet of preferred vendors in the area, recommendations of where to stay (we highly recommend DJ Jay McElfresh, A Note of Elegance for your ceremony music and Main Course Catering). They also coordinate the most lovely tour of HH for your first onsite meeting and let you take your time asking a million questions. They have a prop room that is at your disposal on the day of your wedding. In addition, Kate has the most beautiful vintage table setting options. She also provides your table and chairs for your reception.I could go on and on. Thank you HH for giving us the most magical setting to celebrate our love!

If you're looking for the most beautiful outdoor venue in the state and are interested in working with wonderful people, please stop your search here :) Handsome Hollow was the first venue we looked at and after seeing another venue the same day, we quickly hoped on the phone that afternoon and booked Handsome Hollow. From the moment you step on the property it's obvious that it's breathtaking. The farmhouse and barn are elegant, yet what we loved about it so much was you feel like you're at home. (Brides, I'm not kidding you when I say this farmhouse is unreal. You are going to want to get your picture taken in every room in this house. Every inch is a perfect photo.) We had our ceremony in the back wooded area and it was an absolute dream. If you chose Handsome Hollow, I would highly recommend you use as much of the property as you can. It is just too beautiful not to. Aside from the property itself, I could not say enough positive things about Kate, Huck and their entire staff. When I say as a bride I did not stress about one thing related to the venue or how things would run that day, I really mean it. Kate has it all under control and it was a huge relief. Working with the Handsome Hollow staff took so much stress out of the planning and the day. Working with vendors that we connected with were really important to us and Kate and Huck are two of the worlds most lovely individuals. It was an absolute pleasure working with them and I could not imagine getting married any place else. If you choose Handsome Hollow for your venue, please invite me to your wedding so I can go back :)

We had the wedding of our dreams at Handsome Hollow and could not recommend it more highly. The site itself is gorgeous, and so unique. We had our ceremony out in a clearing in the woods, surrounded by trees and ferns, during an amazing pink sunset. It could not have been more magical. In addition to this ceremony site, this venue offers other wonderful options, including a grassy space under apple trees by a fallen rock wall with the rolling hills in the background, and a gorgeous high-ceilinged restored barn with windows looking out on the hills – which makes a for a great rain plan, and which is where we had an amazing night of dinner and dancing after our ceremony. If you’re looking for an outdoorsy wedding that still has a feeling of elegance, this is the place. The barn and farm house are gorgeous and stylish and the natural beauty of the surrounding area is unmatched. This is the real deal if you want a magnificent natural setting for your wedding. Furthermore, the owners and staff at this venue could not be more organized and attentive. They clearly love what they do, and put in their all to create the wedding you envision. They were so supportive of our dream of getting married out in the woods that they spent the day of our wedding sourcing and laying down hay on the path up to the woods since it had rained the night before and would otherwise have been too muddy for our guests to walk on! In addition to our wedding, we hosted our rehearsal dinner and Sunday brunch here, too, and all three events went seamlessly, each with its own character, and all incredibly well staffed for set up, break-down, and during the event. They offer stunning tableware rentals as well. Finally, living in the farmhouse for the weekend of our wedding was a wonderful way for my now husband and I to have some privacy in addition to the convenience of already being right on site and having a chance to walk around the beautiful area. The farmhouse is gorgeous and so comfortable— a romantic place to stay as a couple, and also a perfect spot for getting ready with the bridesmaids in the morning. By the end of the weekend we caught ourselves referring to it as “our house” – it felt like it was for the weekend : ) and that was a real treat. Can’t think of a better place to get married!

We just had our wedding at Handsome Hollow this past weekend. It met and exceeded all of our expectations, and was perfect in every way. Kate and Huck made sure everything went flawlessly day-of, and their staff was so patient and helpful. This venue is gorgeous and magical - we got so many compliments on it aesthetically - but more than that, if you love nature like we do, it makes for the perfect unique wedding setting. We had the opportunity to come early (Thursday) and make a whole long weekend out of it. You get to stay on the property and have enough time to truly enjoy it and acclimate to all of the gorgeous places you want to take photos. The farmhouse we stayed in is better than any Air B&B or hotel you could hope to rent in the area. I stayed with my bridesmaids and the groomsmen stayed in the Air B&B across the street, which was incredibly convenient. There is a whole loft of vintage items that weddings from the past have left behind that we were able to borrow and use, which was amazing for our reduce, reuse, recycle priorities. They allowed dogs, and my two were able to not only hang out all weekend but accompany me down the aisle during the ceremony. Kate was so responsive answering questions and providing suggestions, and was able to roll with and accomplish basically any request we had. If you love nature, want an unconventional wedding, and your overall/total budget is $40k+, in our opinion, there is no better venue anywhere in the world you could choose!

Handsome Hollow was the single best (well, aside from husband) choice we could have made for our wedding. In fact, I don’t think I’ve recommended anything - restaurant, vacation, hotel, you name it - with as much confidence as I do right now. A Handsome Hollow Wedding will be a sublime experience, without any qualifications. We entered the contract knowing that we were signing up for a storybook location, an idyllic barn, a full package replete with luxury+comfort. What we didn’t realize was how much more we could fall for an already-loved venue after getting to know Kate and Huck. Kate and Huck are the kind of owners who make you feel like you’re the first couple to have ever stepped foot on their ready-to-serve property. The weekend is fully devoted to you and your needs, and Kate and Huck do this in a way that feels supremely comforting but also discreet. My mom, husband, and I were initially hesitant about opting out of having a wedding planner but Kate and Huck were this to us and so much more. They are friendly, hilarious, and relaxed whilst being notably organized and on-point. As a teacher, I tend to over-plan and entered the wedding weekend scene with bulleted lists and flow charts up the wazoo. I threw all of those right out the door when I realized just how thorough the Handsome Hollow crew is. They were five steps ahead of anything I could have ever thought about, and I’ve been planning this weekend for a year and a half. It was freeing and allowed our families to just...celebrate. Our wedding weekend was over one of those sinister summer weekends where it could thunderstorm at any moment. Kate and Huck prepared for every option. I knew they were putting in extraordinary amounts of behind-the-scenes work and yet, the only thing my husband and I were presented with was total calm, kindness, and organization. They make sure that your vision WILL happen, even if it’s a decidedly crazy one. My husband and I were set on marrying in the woods, even though it had rained for nearly 24 hours just prior. Kate and Huck easily could have dismissed the vision given the conditions and relocated our ceremony. Instead, they presented us with all of our options. They were honest, empathetic, and spirited. When we decided to keep the ceremony in the muddy woods, their proactiveness kicked into high gear to ensure that it was the right decision for all - thinking of every guest, every vendor, every angle of a wedding. They drove to town and bought multiple hay bails to help with the flooring. They retrieved hundreds of flip flops from the prop closet to ensure that our guests would be comfortable. They lined up the golf cart we had rented and confirmed that elderly guests would still be able to safely walk to the site. And - they did all this while I was sitting on a chair getting my makeup done. It’s something I’ll never forget, and showed just how “human” their business is. This isn’t a turnkey venue, this is a personalized, supportive, fluid experience. I could go on about the views, the details, the serenity of falling asleep on a farmhouse hammock after getting married. But I think the beauty and intricacies of Handsome Hollow speak for themselves. The people, their lovely staff, their clear passion for promoting love and the festivities behind it - that’s what really takes Handsome Hollow to an entirely new level in the wedding business. Honored that the memory of our wedding will forever be connected to Handsome Hollow.

Handsome Hollow made all of my wedding dreams come true. Every single detail of the barn and the farmhouse is impeccably thought out and done so in good taste. Kate was responsive, helpful and available for us from the minute we first saw the venue to the minute our wedding was over. The Handsome Hollow staff, along with Kate and Huck, executed our wedding perfectly and rolled with any unforeseen circumstances to make us feel the utmost level of professionalism and hospitality. The venue has so many hidden spots and capabilities that you can truly make your day into anything you wish. This is truly a unique and magical spot to be married. I could not recommend Handsome Hollow more.

No pictures you find (no matter how gorgeous) and no words you'll read (no matter how eloquent) will do justice to the magic and charm Handsome Hollow brings. When we visited almost two years ago, we fell in love. Every other venue visit paled in comparison. We've seen perfection and we couldn't pass it up. The farmhouse is charming and convenient. The different ceremony sites, especially the one in the woods, will leave you speechless. And the barn is the perfect blend between rustic and modern. The whole property is an idyllic blank slate that takes on the beauty and personality of whatever you want to make it. And guess what? If you added nothing to the space, it will still be the most beautiful place you've ever stepped foot on. And on top of all that, Kate and Huck are amazing, wonderful people. They were calm, informative, encouraging and kind before, during and after the process. When there were concerns, they were always available. At one point, Kate told my fiancè "No matter what, we're here for you." And during the day that showed above and beyond. Even the stories I heard from my guests were simply glowing anecdotes of Kate, Huck and their staff. They are the kind of partners you want in your corner through the hustle and bustle and crazy happiness of your wedding day. I honestly can't imagine our wedding day away from Handsome Hollow. So happy to be part of the HH family!

I was fortunate to come across the Handsome Hollow on my search for a wedding venue. This is the first and only wedding venue that me and my, now, husband visited. We knew right away this was the place we wanted to get married. It had the nature, beauty, and the energy we were looking for. Little did we know, however, the amount of “wedding work” we had coming to us. For those of you searching for a place to tie the knot, the Handsome Hollow may or may not be for you. It is not a banquet hall where they take care of all the little details for you. It is a lot of your own heavy lifting, decision-making, and coordinating. You will have your work cut out for you, but I promise it was all worth it at the end. (If you have a wedding planner…well then good for you.) The best advice I can give about having your wedding here is to pick the right vendors- ones who are great at communicating and organizing. This will save yourself one hundred headaches. If you make the decision about choosing the Handsome Hollow, that will be your first best vendor choice. Kate and Huck are incredibly helpful and wonderful. I couldn’t have been happier to meet and work with them. I know you will feel the same. As for the wedding itself, I couldn’t have been happier. Our wedding was absolutely beautiful and so much fun. All our guests felt the same. There is no way your wedding won’t have the same effect on you and your guests. Happy Wedding Planning!

When you sign your Handsome Hollow contract, you're not just securing a Wedding Venue—you're teaming up with a well-oiled machine structured and designed to ensure that your Big Day is absolutely perfect. Without exaggeration, I truly feel that we were in the best possible hands with Kate and Huck. The Barn, Grounds, and Farmhouse are astonishing on their own, but Handsome Hollow comes with so much more. Kate, Huck, and their team operate more like a family; fully-equipped with a system in place to tackle any bumps in the road: Backup plans for rain? Built-in. Think your décor could be beefed up? There's a vintage prop-room 100% at your disposal. Flowers a little lacking? Explore the field and pick some fresh ones. Freaking out? Just talk to Kate. From day one, Kate was communicative and responsive. If you're not already asking the right questions, she knows when to reach out to ensure you're on track. Without hiring a Planner, Kate quickly assumes that natural role and makes sure that every piece falls into place. Ahead of time, she communicates with your necessary vendors about relevant items to ensure that the Big Day—and all days leading up to it—run smoothly. Speaking of vendors, it's worth mentioning that our caterer quite literally shed tears of joy when we revealed Handsome Hollow's industrial kitchen to her and her staff. As I said, Kate and Huck simply GET IT. They know what they're doing and they're strategically set up for success! Your vendors will thank you, your guests will rave for years to come, and you and your hubby/bride-to-be can relax, enjoy, and rest assured that the day you've put so much blood, sweat, and tears into will go off without a hitch.
