I grew up in Red Wing and went to Hanisch all the time for pastries, donut, etc. I was a bit skeptical to hire them since I wasn't as familiar with their wedding cakes but in the e...
nd I am very happy that I did. They responded a bit more casually/less professionally to emails than typical wedding vendors, but they responded quickly which I appreciated. We got a 3-tier cake that fed 70 and a sheet cake-- both with white cake and almond frosting. I sent Robyn photos of what I wanted for the cake and honestly the cake ended up looking exactly like the inspiration photo. Guests commented on how good it tasted as well, so no major negatives from the experience!
STAY AWAY! My husband and I recently got married and we had Hanisch Bakery do our wedding cake. We were very specific that we wanted a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. Th...
ey said they could do that and when we got the cake, it was not cream cheese filling. They kept claiming that cream cheese was in the filling. What they lied to us about and did not tell us about was that it was diluted with mostly buttercream so it was just a buttercream frosting. We were very nice and asking if we could get some sort of compensation back since this is our special day and we paid a lot of money for these cakes.
We asked even for the simplest of $50 and they would not give it back to us. They were very rude from the beginning. Over email, Robyn Was very passive, aggressive and snotty. Over the phone, Bill was very rude and hard to work with. We regret ordering with them from the beginning. For a company that drives on family business. You would think that they would be more willing to accompany a new family and put the customers first. They do not. Do not support this company.
Amazing cake, cupcakes and donuts. We could not get enough of them!
We had the pleasure of indulging in a delightful array of desserts from Hanisch Bakery at our wedding, and we can't stop raving about the delicious treats that were served. The ass...
ortment included an irresistible selection of brownies, cupcakes, and pumpkin bars.
Our wedding guests were equally impressed and couldn't stop complimenting the irresistible treats throughout the evening. Many of them were even asking where they could find Hanisch bakery, expressing a keen interest in exploring their full range of desserts for their own upcoming events and celebrations.
Overall, the desserts from Hanisch bakery were the highlight of our special day, adding a sweet note of perfection to an already memorable occasion. We highly recommend Hanisch bakery to anyone seeking to elevate their event with sweet and delicious desserts. Thank you, Hanisch bakery, for making our wedding day even sweeter and more unforgettable!

We used Hanisch Bakery for our wedding in Sept 2023 and we couldn’t have been happier! From the cake tasting experience to the final product it was an enjoyable, stress-free and de...
licious process! Our guests went back for seconds and thirds so make sure you order plenty because people are going to LOVE these cakes! Spice, Red Velvet and Salted Caramel were our flavors! We’ll be ordering a small anniversary cake next year! Thank you for the small town vibes and big city results!
The cake tasted wonderful and they did an outstanding job on the decorating.

rrow our favorite.
Communication was a little difficult at first because of how busy they are, but they always got back to us if we left a message. Everything with this vendor and the cake they made was perfect for our wedding day.
Our guests RAVED about the cake pops Hanisch provided for our wedding! Numerous guests snuck out at the end of the night with extras. We were very happy with our decision to work...
with them.
When we initially contacted Hanisch, we noted we wanted to do assorted small desserts. We were given a list of available items, which sounded great. When we arrived for tasting, we were given a basic cake-only tasting that was entirely irrelevant to what we had discussed we wanted, and were told they were out of most everything on the list we were given. We basically went with Hanisch on the good word of our caterer, and while we were very happy in the end, it would have been helpful if the tasting experience was relevant to what we intended to try/order.
BEST. DONUTS. EVER. Hanisch bakery went above and beyond with the donuts for our wedding. All the flavors were wonderful and the donuts are the best consistency/texture. We couldn'...
t have been happier with our desserts!
I will start by saying that the donuts, cake, and bars were both beautiful and delicious! However, the communication with this bakery is sub optimal at times and they ignored my mu...
ltiple attempts to get a phone number for the day of our wedding(should anything go wrong). Additionally, we paid for a 2 tier cake, but they only gave us 1 tier. I have not yet called to complain, but I plan to. They are very nice people and I am sure we will come to an agreement about how to address this issue. Overall I would recommend for a laid back couple who isn't as worried about things going wrong or plans changing on the day of.
The donuts were the BEST wedding dessert. My wedding guests ate every last delicious bite.
Hanisch Bakery made 200 cupcakes for our wedding 9/16/17. Communication for planning was always prompt and clear. They delivered the cupcakes to our venue for a small fee. And most...

absolutely delicious. Our guests raved about our cake. Out two tier cake looked exactly like I described as well. I was also very impressed and pleased with the affordability of this vendor. They were wonderful to work with and it's nice to support a small town business.

Excellent review earned five times over. Robyn took the design ideas and pictures we came to her with and gave us exactly what we wanted. As I talked to people throughout the nig...
ht the good cake was a repeat offender. We did multiple flavors at different tables and the for the record the Pumpkin Cake with Cream Cheese filling was the clear favorite! I wasn't planning on saving the top tier, but seeing as how it was Pumpkin, we changed our minds.
Oh my goodness! I am a cake freak and this was some of the best cake I have ever had! It was so moist and the layers were amazing! Everyone LOVED our cake! We had two different...
kinds - chocolate with Bailey's Irish Cream Mousse and Marble with fresh strawberry filling. WOW! Robyn and Bill were a real treat to work with and were so flexible with the arrangement of cake types to accommodate the number of guests we would be serving. Definitely a thumbs up!
I grew up in Red Wing and always planned to have the local bakery supply my wedding cake. When we moved locations from Red Wing to Winona, MN I took Hanisch's with me! Robyn answer...
ed all my questions and corresponded with me about the different options available with cake and other desserts. Ultimately we ordered a 3 tiered cake and lots of cake pops for our dessert table. The cake was delicious (I'm told!) and the cake pops were even more popular. Brides considering this option be warned: order twice as many cake pops as you think you'll need because people WILL take more than one. We had cake, cake pops, cookies and chocolates and we were dangerously close to running out. It was great tho and we've gotten nothing but compliments since. This hometown bakery is reasonably priced and will travel (within reason) for a nominal fee.
I chose Hanisch Bakery for my cake because of reviews I had read, and I definitely made the right decision. The cake was gorgeous and I am still receiving compliments on how wonder...
ful it was!
The cake was decorated just the way I wanted and tasted fantastic. Everyone loved it and the bakery was so easy to work with.;There was a bit of miscommunication about when ...
the cake was to be delivered but that is because they have high school students that work part time and the girl was a bit confused. But with one call everything was taken care of.
