My bridal shower was thrown at the Lobster Shanty. We had a gorgeous afternoon overlooking the water. The buffet of food was delicious and our guests had a great time!

We had our wedding reception at The Sunset Ballroom on 11/3 and could not have had a more perfect day! From the first time we met with Nancy, she made us feel extremely comfortable and provided all the necessary information for us to make the decision to go with The Sunset Ballroom (our first and only venue we looked at!). Nancy was super helpful throughout the entire process, answering all our questions, being super accommodating to our requests, and helping to coordinate the various parts of the day. Our guests RAVED about all the food and beautiful outside deck on the water we got to utilize on an unseasonably warm November night during cocktail hour. Theresa was our maitre d for the night and she was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. She kept everything during cocktail hour and the reception running on schedule, never let our drinks reach empty, helped me up to the bridal suite as needed, and made sure we sat down to actually eat dinner (thank you, we never would have eaten otherwise!!). She even jumped in to fix my bustle at one point during the night when my bridesmaid's were elsewhere. Having our wedding here was such an amazing decision. The "all-inclusiveness" of their wedding packages and their wonderful staff takes the stress out of planning. I would recommend The Sunset Ballroom to anyone! Thank you!! Jackie and John Archibald

Great venue! We had the wedding of our dreams here on 11/11/17 and do not have a single complaint, from the beginning Nancy (the banquet manager) was flexible and professional. The food (prime rib, chicken florentine and Chilean sea bass) was amazing and the staff was great. Our maítre d', Theresa was top notch and didn't miss a beat all night, she made everything so easy. The venue is beautiful and I can say that for all the packages include you won't find anything better! So happy we had our wedding here.

Although almost two months have passed since the celebration of our daughter’s wedding at the Lobster Shanty, the memory is still fresh in our minds. My husband and I would like to thank you and your staff for creating a beautiful reception for our family on Sunday, September 3, 2017. Your passion for food quality and presentation far exceeded our expectations. The dinner menu was filled with gourmet cuisine that not only delighted our guests’ palates but also pleased our personal budget. We appreciated your flexibility to plan and revise our menu, your expert attention to detail, as well as the exemplary customer service provided by your wait staff and maître ‘d Teresa. The venue was beautiful overlooking the water and the unexpected fireworks after a spectacular sunset was a crowd pleaser. We cannot say enough great things about this place! The food was amazing, our guests were raving about it! Nancy was so helpful through the process and the rest of the staff was excellent as well. The night was absolutely perfect!

Since I was little, I knew I wanted to get married at the Lobster Shanty. The day after I got engaged, I booked our wedding date and did not even consider anywhere else. It's the most amazing place to get married! The location is breathtaking and our guests could not get enough of the view from every angle of the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Nancy and Jackie make sure that all your questions are answered prior to your big day and also make sure to calm any nerves that you may have regarding the coordination of the event. Then the day of, Theresa is literally a mind reader. She would finish my sentences and have things ready to go before I even realized that I wanted them. She is so patient, caring, and thoughtful! She made our wedding day absolutely perfect from start to finish! I've heard that most of the time the bride and groom are too busy to eat the food. Let me tell you, we ate a ton! The food is absolutely phenomenal and we were not missing out on that. Definitely make sure you choose the seafood sampler and the prime beef. You won't be disappointed! One of the best parts (there are too many to count), is that everything is included. They are not going to nickle and dime you like some other places, so the price they list is the price you get. It's all included in the package! We even asked for french fries to be made at the end of the night as our favor and they were able to include that as well. I can't say enough good things about the Lobster Shanty and, if I had to do it all over again, I would choose them in a heartbeat (again)! If you have your wedding there, you will have the best night of your life!

Sunset Ballroom was the last place we checked out after spending a day visiting venues along the Jersey Shore. We knew we wanted something on the water or on the beach. By the time, we got to Sunset Ballroom, we were tired and almost didn't go in but we are so glad we did. The place looks smaller from outside but when we walked in, it was much larger than we expected. We fell in love immediately. The reception room is amazing with windows along two walls and beautiful views. The bar area is so big and also beautiful. The cocktail hour is indoors as well as outdoors where you find a bar in both locations as well as tables. There is a wrap around deck which extends from the cocktail hour all the way around to the reception area. Our guests loved checking out the views from the wrap around deck especially around sunset. After our first visit, we knew Sunset Ballroom was the place and we booked it immediately which was 1 1/2 years before our wedding date. Along the way, Nancy answered all my questions and was so helpful. When we did our taste testing, we were amazed by the portions and the food was so delicious. We ended up picking the lobster bisque, seafood sampler, filet mignon and chicken saltimbocca under the supreme wedding package. The cocktail hour had so much food and the guests raved about everything. They were also raving about the dinner as well. Our maitre'd Theresa was awesome and she kept making me laugh. She was so helpful and made sure everything was OK. She also made sure our drinks were never empty. The wedding cake (as well as a viennese table) was included in the package through Mueller's Bakery. The cake was so beautiful and delicious. Before the wedding, we were able to drop everything off a few days before the wedding. The staff did a great job in seeing our vision and set up everything. Overall, we think Sunset Ballroom was a wonderful place to have a wedding. The views and service were outstanding. It was so easy having everything included in the package price including tax and tips. We never had to worry about unexpected costs. I definitely recommend having a wedding at Sunset Ballroom.

Cocktail hour.... The food-- there was so much yummy food. Lots of choices and everything was delicious. Everyone said it was the best cocktail hour they had been to. Reception... The food-- amazing doesn't begin to tell you the comments our guests had about the food. Theresa and the staff were amazing. Anything anyone wanted or needed they got. They went above and beyond anything I could have expected. They set everything up exactly how I pictured it in my head. They just literally were amazing. Thank you so much for everything

Everything about the Lobster Shanty was amazing! Nancy answered every question, gave helpful suggestions, let us drop off all of our stuff a few days before, and even allowed us to set up a table to make sure we liked it! She was so easy to work with, it was an awesome experience. The room itself and the bar are both so beautiful. On the day of Theresa was fantastic! She made sure we had everything we needed at all times. She handed us drinks when we didn't have them, she helped my girls bustle my dress, and heated up our soup with our dinner since we didn't get to it earlier that night. They knew we wanted to eat early so we could party as long as possible and they did that! My reception was PERFECT! Highly, highly recommend the Sunset Ballroom!!

The Sunset Ballroom was the most perfect place for our wedding. It has an amazing amount of space and fit our 185 guests, our photo booth, buffet dinner, dance floor, and cake extremely well. Nancy and Jackie were fabulous to work with. They answered all our questions in a timely fashion and allowed us to bring in our props for the reception (centerpieces, accents, signs, etc.) the Tuesday before our wedding and already were setting the tables. We also had our wedding flowers delivered there because we knew they would be in safe hands and we were getting married on the beach. Additionally, the weather was 50/50 for the day of the wedding. Nancy had our back up plan of having the ceremony inside the reception hall on hold, but we ended up not needing it and made that call around 11am before our 5pm ceremony. Nancy was accommodating, and put our minds at ease. On the day of, our Maitre’ D was wonderful. She made sure that we had everything we needed like water, or our signature drink from the bar. More importantly, she made sure that we ate, brought over plates with every course that we had picked out, and was especially concerned that my lobster tails were fired at exactly the right moment. She did an amazing job.

We had the most wonderful experience at my daughter’s wedding reception in the beautifully decorated Sunset Ballroom at Jack Baker’s Lobster Shanty. Every aspect of our event was outstanding thanks to the delicious food and wonderful people at the venue! From the moment Nancy showed us around until one year later at our daughter’s wedding reception, everything was handled in the most courteous and professional manner .Our maître d’, Theresa, was amazing with her attention to detail and friendly personality. She made sure the entire wedding ran smoothly. Thanks to her, my daughter’s wedding day felt very special. I am so thankful to everyone at the Lobster Shanty Sunset Ballroom who helped to make the entire wedding experience fun as well as spectacular. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone who is considering having their wedding reception in the Point Pleasant Beach area.

I could not be happier that we went with The Sunset Ballroom for our wedding. It was an absolute fairytale. Nancy was a pleasure to work with. She was prompt and helpful, and got back to me quickly about every single tiny detail question I had throughout the past year. There is no better "bang for your buck" than here. The food was AMAZING, and the portions were huge. Our guests RAVED about the food. Theresa, our maitre'd, was INCREDIBLE. (Thank you Theresa!!!) She kept our glasses full the entire night, and brought us individual plates of food to make sure we were able to eat. I cannot say enough about the staff and how well they treated everyone. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful venue for their waterfront wedding!!!

I was extremely happy that we choose this for our wedding reception. The food and staff were amazing. I was a little nervous that they only offered one bar but the bar is so large and they stacked it with numerous bartenders. All of our friends and family couldn’t stop complimenting the food and location (being right on the water). If I had to do our wedding over again I wouldn’t change this one bit! Nancy, the banquet manager, was very helpful with all of my questions! Really helped because I was planning my wedding from a distance!

We had our wedding reception here and it was absolutely beautiful. The reception room has big picture windows (from floor to ceiling) that overlooks the Manasquan River. You have your reception there in the evening, while the sun is setting over the water and boats are going by. It's extremely picturesque. Many people commented on it. Both the location for cocktail hour and the reception have outdoor areas; there is even an outdoor bar for cocktail hour which is perfect for the summer. The packages range from 110 - 140 a head. The food is abundant; everyone felt stuffed by the end. However, the quality of the food is outstanding. People could not stop talking about how amazing the food was. The stand-out dish was the seafood sampler (no extra cost) which includes a lobster tail, shrimp, scallops, and stuffed fish (sole or flounder maybe?) The side dishes are a whipped baked potato and green beans with almonds. The scallops were to-die-for... the seafood sampler was the dish most ordered and most raved about. Also - the lobster bisque!! Also no extra cost. People have said they have never seen wedding food like that. The rooms are elegant and large but have an intimate feeling. The planner there (Nancy) and the maitre'd (Teresa) were so incredibly helpful and kind. They let us bring in lots of our own things to personalize the space and make the wedding our own. There was room for a photo booth. Never before have I felt so accommodated and pampered! All night, Teresa was getting us water, drinks, food, etc. and taking care of us. When we forgot to eat, she reminded us to, and she gave us time to dance. She was so awesome. We will be returning here every year for our anniversary. Love love this place!! Strongly recommend!

We had a dream wedding at Jack Baker's Sunset Ballroom at the Lobster Shanty. We have not stopped receiving compliments since our wedding on 7/11/14. The bridal suite was air-conditioned and waiting for us as we arrived. Trisha helped us the entire night and took care of everything for us. She made sure that we were getting drinks the whole night and that we did not have anything to worry about. She took care of everything so that we could enjoy the entire night. The food was outstanding. We had the sesame chicken and eggplant for cocktail hour. People are still talking about the chicken! On top of that, there was shrimp cocktail and other appitizer stations.There were passed choices as well. The bartenders were great. We had signature drinks at the bar and they made them just right! On top of that, the open bar included premium liquors and they did a great job taking care of our guests. There was not a long wait at all! The night ran smoothly and they coordinated nicely with our other vendors (i.e. photographer, dj, steel drummer, etc.) They told us where we needed to be when and continuously checked in with us to see if we needed anything. The views were amazing. We lucked out and had a gorgeous July day, but the venue is still beautiful in the rain! We picked it out on a rainy day and the shrimp boats were still driving by. There is no such thing as a bad day at the Sunset Ballroom. Throughout our planning, Nancy was amazing. She answered all of our questions in a timely manner no matter how silly they were! Our guests are still raving about how our wedding was the best one they have ever been to. We highly recommend that you also choose The Sunset Ballroom as your venue!

Our wedding on June 7th was AMAZING thanks to Nancy and the AWESOME staff at the Sunset Ballroom. Two months later we are still receiving emails, phone calls and texts raving about the ballroom, the food and the service. People have not stopped complimenting on how wonderful our reception was. The Sunset Ballroom gave my husband and I ‘a wedding to remember’ as all our guests have said! From our very first meeting until we picked up our items the day after, we received nothing but amazing friendly service. Their organization and knowledge of how to run a great party is evident from the flawless execution of our wedding. Everything was exactly as we discussed - perfect! Teresa, our Maître D, was AMAZING! We did not have to worry about a single thing as she guided us through the night and made the evening so enjoyable. The set-up of the ballroom was even better than I could have imagined and our centerpieces (lanterns)looked perfect. Teresa made the evening stress-less, and because of her my husband and I enjoyed our guests and our wedding to the fullest. I cannot say enough amazing things about her! Words cannot express my gratitude to everyone at the Sunset Ballroom. Thank you for the amazing experience and making the wedding process seem so easy. We would recommend the Lobster Shanty to anyone and everyone for a wedding or any kind of event. Again, we cannot thank Nancy, Teresa and everyone at the Sunset Ballroom for making our dreams come true and making our wedding amazing.

When my fiancé and I started looking for reception venues, a water view was a non-negotiable. We searched every venue on the water within a 25 mile radius. Most were disappointing and/or overpriced. At first I didn't want to look at the Sunset Ballroom as the actual restaurant name is The Lobster Shanty and I was afraid my guests would not think it would be a classy wedding. However, we looked at the room and I really liked it and the staff there were very friendly and accommodating. Also, my family and I have been going there for years for family dinners when we used to own a summer house in the area. The more I thought about how nostalgic it would be, the more I wanted my wedding there. Nancy and Jackie were incredibly friendly and accommodating. I can't praise them enough! As far as the actual night of the wedding, everything was spectacular. The cocktail hour was great. We went all out with the raw bar, sushi, etc. EVERYONE raved about cocktail hour, not only about how plentiful, delicious, and fresh everything was, but also how the waitstaff was so attentive, passing around plenty of hors' du oveures. The food really was delicious! When we got in the reception room, it was simply beautiful. The sunset was coming through the windows and everything was so elegant. Our sit down dinner was also delicious and everyone enjoyed. The staff was helpful and professional and truly made our night amazing! I wouldn't have changed a thing! Thank you Nancy, Jackie, Theresa, and everyone and The Lobster Shanty!

Great food, beautiful location, wonderful!!!

I had an awesome experience with my wedding at the Sunset Ballroom. The food was fantastic and my guests really enjoyed themselves. Unlike other venues we saw, there are no hidden fees or extra charges. The service was great and the ballroom was beyond beautiful even on our rainy Memorial weekend wedding.

From the first day we went for our initial visit to the Sunset Balroom we fell in love with the place! The view is absolutely awesome and no other venue we looked at could even compare to it! The food was great.. people are still raving about the coctail hour! My husband and I were literally treated like royalty the entire night by the staff at Jack Bakers. The wedding coordinator, Theresa was absolutely great.. I couldn't say enough about her! From the start of the reception until the last minute when we were packing everything up and leaving she was right there helping us with whatever we needed! If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!

When we decided to get married down at the shore, we had a vision of what would be the perfect wedding reception venue. The Sunset Ballroom exceeded every expectation we had and gave us our dream wedding. We loved our tasting and had high expectations for the food, and it did not disappoint. We received many compliments on the food - and the vast selection of it - at the cocktail hour. Dinner was also a big hit! Equally impressive was the Viennese table that our guests raved about for days after the wedding! Finally, the staff at the Sunset Ballroom ensured everything went perfect for us. They had wait staff for the bridal party in the bridal suite when we arrived to take drink orders and make sure we had a sampling of the cocktail hour selections before we went out to join the rest of the guests at cocktail hour. Theresa, our maitre de, was amazing! It was like she knew everything we would need or ask. Thanks to her, we never wondered, “Is everything going as planned?”, because we knew with her taking the lead, everything would go smoothly. Every detail was perfect, which was no small task because my fiancé and I had dropped off a lot of ‘extra’ decorations and stationary that we wanted to use to make the venue ‘us.’ As we walked in the doors, we couldn’t believe this was where we would celebrate. Equally helpful was Nancy, during the planning process. She always took the time to answer phone calls and emails, regardless of how little the question was. It was nothing short of a picture perfect wedding for us, and we cannot thank the Sunset Ballroom and their staff enough for turning our dream into reality.

Gary was wonderful to work with! He always responded very well through e-mail and phone. Whenever we had a question he was ready and able to answer. Everytime we met he was very positive and assured us that everything would be perfect, and it WAS! He was willing to work with us to incorporate our vision and was always helpful with suggestions when we weren't sure what we wanted! We had a beautiful wedding reception and couldn't have asked for anything better!

Our guests raved about the venue, food, and waitstaff. The only negative was the maitre d' who did not greet us upon entrance, did not move the guests to the ceremony venue, did have the cake cutting tools out, and did not communicate with the band on the timing of the cake cutting. Everything else was excellent.

We had our wedding this April at the Sunset ballroom aka Lobster Shanty (only bad thing about the place is that it says Lobster Shanty on the outside). Sean was our Maitre d and he was attentive and on top of everything. I had about 15 boxes of decorations and customized every detail from using my own 3D place cards, candle holders, unique table numbers and card holder and all sorts of decor. They executed my vision perfectly. Nancy is the banquet manager...she did a good job. She is a little cold. She could have been a little more proactive. I really had to keep on top of everything but thats just because as a bride you want that attentiveness and fussing over. Some of the other places I looked at and friends I have spoken with...some of the other halls are a little more involved. But everything worked out to be perfect on our wedding day. Every single guest told us the food was phenomenal. We did a huge buffet with carving stations. It was incredible. If you love seafood this is an amazing value for your money. Mueller's bakery in Bay Head handles their wedding cakes and pastries for the desert table. Amazing. Everyone ate the cake which is unusual at weddings. The bakery also let us customize our cake completely and it was all included in the package already. The view is beautiful. The deck that wraps around the building is nice. Our guests enjoyed hanging out outside during the cocktail hour. The bridal suite is nice and spacious. The room is just gorgeous. We didn't get one complaint or negative comment about our wedding. It was truly the best day of our lives.

The Lobster Shanty came through on our special day! They set up all of the items that we brought in (e.g. seating chart, menus, family pictures, table numbers) just as requested. Our guests were raving about the appetizers (the shrimp was delicious!) and the view was perfect. The Sunset Ballroom looked absolutely beautiful and the service was great. It wasn't cheap, but in relation to what is available in the area, it was reasonable and well worth it.

Amazing venue, location, food, staff, etc! We couldnt have been more happy with our choice! The staff was extremely helpful and everything went off without a hitch!

Great spot overlooking the inlet. 25+ people and the upstairs room is private, with your own bartender/bar. Seafood is your best bet, but prime rib and chicken are also good.

The ballroom at the Lobster Shanty is beyond beautiful. We got married in a snowstorm and that just made the bay views all the more beautiful! The staff was extremely helpful and sweet and they even refunded our money for the people who couldnt make it out due to the weather! We had a brunch...an awesome way to cut cost and still have a classy menu. Our guests are still raving about it over a year later!

We had the most beautiful reception. That staff at The Lobster Shanty was amazing and working with Nancy Dickson could not have been a better experience. They added more special touched to the ballroom than we had ever expected.

I loved the ballroom, food, and views;They changed the prices for the ballroom, but there is another room available that is smaller. They also overcharged me, adding my deposit instead of subtracting it. They did mail me a refund though.

My venue was highlighted a beautiful waterview. Not only that, but there were large windows on two sides (the watersides) of the room that enhanced the environment. Great location for sunset pictures.
