Hardscrabble Ranch is a gorgeous mountain wedding venue just 20 minutes from Bozeman.
Ross Peak makes the perfect back drop for a memorable ceremony. Our 78 acres includes 2 lodges, 15 glamping tents, an outdoor patio, cooking area, fire pit and a 4800 square foot wood heated barn with a dance floor. We have 2 miles of hiking/biking trails and Brackett Creek meanders through the property. This venue offers a wonderful place for your family and friends to relax and share in your special day.
The accommodations include two Lodges that can sleep 24 people, with eleven bedrooms, six bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens, living spaces, game room and more.
Our 15 glamping tents situated along Brackett Creek, each have comfortable King beds, a covered deck and Adirondack chairs. Perfect for enjoying the beauty and serenity of Mother Nature.
Included in the venue fee is the use of our arch, tables, chairs and place settings for up to 150 people, but the venue can easily handle more guests.

Absolutely perfect! From the moment we toured the venue, we knew it was the place where we would say "I do." The staff’s intentional care to every detail made our wedding day flawless. From the seamless coordination of the preparations to the little touches we didn’t even think of, it was clear that they truly care about creating a beautiful experience for every couple.
Our wedding at this venue was truly unforgettable! The space offers the perfect blend of outdoor and indoor settings. The outdoor area is serene with stunning views that created the perfect backdrop for our ceremony. The barn, on the other hand, is spacious and beautifully designed—charming yet elegant, with plenty of room for our guests to enjoy the reception. Every detail was meticulously handled, and the staff ensured everything ran smoothly. We knew from the moment we visited Hardscrabble Ranch that it would be the location of our Montana destination wedding. We couldn’t imagine a more beautiful site for our July 2024 event, with the rolling green hills, wildflowers, and of course the magical view of Ross Peak from the ceremony site. Our wedding and reception were entirely outside so that we could keep those views in sight the whole time, but the barn is an impressive option for a reception, too.
We also had several guests stay at the lodge and in the glamping tents, and everyone raved about the accommodations. The lodge was comfortable and so convenient with two commercial kitchens and plenty of room to spread out to build our floral arrangements and have hair and makeup done for the wedding. The glamping tents near the creek are cozy and beautifully appointed. There was so much for our guests to do – play yard games, walk the trails behind the barn (the wildflowers were stunning in early July) or walk down to visit the animals (including a baby yak!). Some guests fished in the creek or played games in Brackett Lodge (really fun - despite my husband’s devastating loss at ping pong to his new father-in-law.)
The entire staff at Hardscrabble was friendly and helpful during our stay, and the amazing Chris Heinle was absolutely a life-saver. She was communicative and helpful from the jump, answering all of our questions, and providing us with great vendor lists and a helpful planning schedule. We also hired Chris as our day-of coordinator, a service that was truly priceless. We did not have to worry about a thing from the rehearsal until we departed on our wedding night. Chris was everywhere doing everything, ensuring that the wedding and reception looked beautiful and ran smoothly. We could NOT have asked for a more perfect day (days, really) at a more perfect venue. We highly recommend Hardscrabble and Chris to anyone considering a wedding in western Montana!

Hardscrabble and all of their staff, including the owner, helped make our wedding weekend an incredible experience. Many last minute things come up when planning such an event, and they jumped right In And found solutions to any issues we ran into along the way. We couldn’t be happier with the venue, such a beautiful location as well as the staff, very friendly and helpful.
I would highly recommend this amazing place that is off the beaten path.

We had the best wedding weekend at Hardscrabble! It was truly a dream come true wedding. The accommodations were comforting to our guests, with both the indoor lodging as well as the glamping tents. The amount of guests they can hosts was perfect for our larger wedding. There are many benefits to Hardscrabble pertaining to the wedding day itself; they allow you to bring in your own vendors for catering, bar service and alcohol, allow real candles, they allow guests to tent camp so no one has to drive the canyon after drinking, and they allow you to have live bands and bring your dog!! They are open to you decorating the barn anyway you would like, including hanging things on the walls!! The staff is helpful and kind. We highly recommend having your dream wedding at Hardscrabble.

What a beautiful venue, the owners and staff are great to work with. Ross peak is magnificent in the summer time with the well manicured lawns and the beautiful wildflowers in the immediate background.

Peter and Kris, the owners, are so awesome! This venue was extremely special for our wedding, and exactly what we wanted. We were able to house our guests the night of the wedding, and had plenty of space to truly show off what we love about Montana. Highly suggest!
